Silver and N's friendship mixed with Dad Lance and Dad Alder is so funny to me /pos cuz I just imagine:

Champions and their Scars headcanons

TW: Mention of self-harm below the cut

Lance:

Lots of scars from getting scratched (and sometimes bit) by pokémon, especially on his back/arms

Also has a few burn scars from his pokémon

Has a large scar on the right side of his ribcage where he got clipped by his Dragonite's hyper beam.

Has a slightly crooked nose from it being broken in a fight.

Has scars on his lip and brow, also from being punched.

Steven:

Most of his injuries are internal

Has broken his ankles several times whilst hiking

Has a titanium hip

Has some scars on his hands/fingers from touching things that he didn't realize were sharp/hot

Has a fake tooth, lost it when his metang accidentally hit him in the face.

Has mild arthritis in his knees and ankles

Wallace:

Top surgery scars, horizontal incisions

SH scars on his thighs

Has some scars on his feet and ankles from coral and sharp objects in the water (also from getting bit by things in the water)

Has a slight nick on his left brow from a fight

Has a scar on the back of his head from fainting after standing up too quickly

Cynthia:

Lots of little nicks from her garchomp

Has a few big ones too, the most prominent being across her lower back and on her left bicep

Had surgery to fix a fractured wrist.

Faint scar on her lip from a fight

Blind in her left eye after an incident with a wild gabite

Alder

Lots of little scars, mostly on his forearms and lower legs from his nomadic lifestyle

Bite scar on his left thigh

Has burn scars on his right shoulder and back from his Volcarona

Scar across his abdomen and back from getting gored by a bouffalant

Iris

Some small scars from her pokémon and picking at scabs

Large burn scar that covers most of her back from when she was caught in a fire

Scar on her cheek from her haxorus turning too quickly

Has a chipped tooth

Diantha

Has a scar on the underside of her chin from when she slammed it into a windowsill as a child

Had surgery to fix a broken foot

Lost one of her pinky toes due to frostbite from her Aurorus

Has some scars on her forearms from being nicked by attacks

Leon

Has some burn scars on his torso from his Charizard

Had surgery on both knees to fix his ACLs (not simultaneously)

Scars on his forearms and legs from flying debris during the Eternatus incident

Large scar on his right thigh from getting cut by his aegislash

Had surgery when she broke her hand in 5 places.

A few small scars on her lower abdomen from a hysterectomy.

Scars on her right arm and leg from getting clipped by her Glimmora's power gem.

Lance is very defensive about his title of "Dragon Master". He's been known to loose his temper whenever he's accused (rightfully so) of actually being a Flying Type trainer, and has gotten into fights with multiple reporters and internet personalities.

General Lance Headcanons

((These are some general headcanons that I came up with for Lance that I wanted to include earlier in my initial headcanon entry for him, but didn’t))

I see him in his late twenties to early thirties, honestly. Like, maybe 28 or nearing 30 at least. Despite his looks, Lance appears far more older than what others think initially. He’s told he looks like he’s twenty or eighteen, which is such a common assumption that amuses Lance.

His relationship with Clair can be tumultuous. They get along fine, but there are moments when Clair’s overly competitive and sore loser mentality wears Lance down. He can handle her outbursts like a pro; he’s got the patience of a saint, but he does find himself nearing the end of his rope whenever Clair gets too defensive. I think it helps that at one point in his childhood Lance has been in Clair’s shoes, but has managed to keep calm thanks to the Dragon Master’s guidance. Whenever Clair challenges Lance to battle at the Pokémon League and loses, she throws another one of her outbursts, much to Lance’s dismay. He’s often asked by League members, Gym Leaders included, why Clair still has a Gym Leader position. Part of him hopes that whenever Clair faces a Trainer and loses to them that it will make her more humble. That’s yet to happen as her pride is so high that it takes the Dragon Master to threaten her by telling Lance what’s up that she relents the Gym Badge. Regardless, Lance understands Clair’s position but he does not condone her ill behavior.

Lance didn’t grow up with a lot of friends outside of Blackthorn, so it was mainly just him and Clair. When he got old enough to go on his journey, Lance didn’t know what to expect. He was made aware of the different towns and cities across Johto and Kanto as well, so he wasn’t completely sheltered. However, his lack of social skills and stoic exterior has led people to be, let’s say, intimidated by him. It doesn’t help that Lance traveled the two regions with his trusty Dragons, which are far more intimidating than just him alone. This made Lance feel like an outcast, which he kind of was, therefore he ends up keeping to himself. However, all it took for him to come out of his shell was for a couple of little kids to curiously ask him about his cape, which did lighten Lance’s spirits.

His three Dragonites are all different, personality wise. One is a big softie who loves being cuddled and enjoys wearing Lance’s cape. They are the equivalent to a Golden Retriever and the youngest. The second Dragonite, the “middle child” so to speak, keeps to themselves. They enjoy lying around and dozing off, but are quite capable of getting shit done when told by Lance. And, lastly, the third Dragonite, the oldest. This one has been with Lance the longest, making them the “leader” of the pact. They are a ride or die with Lance, partners til the end, and has zero tolerance for BS (also much like Lance). This Dragonite was gifted to Lance when it was a newly hatched Dratini when Lance was around eleven (the ripe age for upcoming Dragon Tamers to receive their first Dragon Pokémon). Lance loves and cares for his Dragonites deeply and will, without question, lay down his life to protect them as all three are his closest companions.

Despite his stoic demeanor, Lance is a sweetheart. He’s polite, helpful, friendly, and just wants to enjoy life being around both people and Pokémon. He understands that he’s an intimidating presence but he strives to be more approachable. He tries to find some common ground, although it’s still difficult for him, but he TRIES.

Not much a movie person. Lance doesn’t like sitting for long periods of time while watching a television screen. He likes moving around, so sitting still for an hour just isn’t his forte.

For some reason, I see Lance having a shitty sleep schedule. I mean, he’s constantly on the move and doesn’t stay in place for longer than a minute. One moment he’s getting up at an ungodly hour, say 3AM, training. And then, before you know it, he’s passed out on the couch until 5PM or at noon. At times, he’ll go two or three days without sleep. His sleep schedule is in such shambles that the Johto Elite Four have had to set up alert reminders for him to go to bed at around 9PM and get up at 7AM. They nearly have had to do an intervention just to get Lance to sleep properly.

When not wearing his usual uniform, Lance likes to put on a simple black turtleneck or V-neck T-shirt. Usually this is rare, but whenever Lance has free time that isn’t being swallowed up by the League or other pressing matters, Lance likes to dress casually.

Prone to getting into physical altercations, either with people or with Pokémon. Lance can hold his own in a fight (not a Pokémon battle, mind you) and has thrown hands before. While he is nowhere near Bruno’s level of strength, Lance can get a few hits in and can take his fair share of bruises and cuts. These fights are usually provoked by Lance interfering in illegal activities, which causes escalation to ensue. Luckily, Lance has never had a weapon pulled on him.

Gets cold pretty easily. Living near the Ice Path, the winters in Blackthorn can be pretty brutal, so Lance has never truly adapted to being cold. People think it’s funny that the Dragon Tamer Lance gets cold easily since, you know, Ice beats Dragon types. But, truth is, winters in Blackthorn can be deadly under the right conditions. Lance has spent many winters in the Dragon’s Den, caring for the Dragon types there so he has little need (or desire) to venture out into the wild wintry whiteout.

Not a public transportation kind of guy. If Lance wants to go anywhere, it’s either on foot or on his Dragonite’s back.

Enjoys domestic living, like cooking and cleaning. When he was younger, he was raised by his single mother who did a lot around the home, so that homely influence affected him greatly. He likes keeping things in order and has kept a lot of his mother’s recipes after she passed.

Lance holds onto his relationships very, VERY closely. If anyone dares to harm any one of his friends or family, they are in for a bad time (cue Megalovania).

Keeps in contact with some of the other Champions, like Cynthia and Steven. They all would meet up to discuss news about their respective regions and other events/issues. Isn’t so much political as it rather focuses on the Pokémon League aspect of each region and how each League is being cared for and how they are upholding their foundation. Still, these meetings allow Lance to catch up with other Champions, more than anything.

I honestly have no idea what Pokemon is, blame me having no social life as a kid without any devices, but I am not going to ask right now. I swear they’d make me pick a side even with no knowledge of whatever that game is.

Champion height head cannons? I know there was a post about how you thought Steven was taller than Lance. I want to know more. For research purposes btw, definitely not for brainrot.

Okay so according to the scale world models, Steven is slightly taller, but I feel like a lot of the heights are messed up, so I choose not to believe them. Here are my personal headcanons.

I also took a look at the Masters heights and promptly decided they were also BS because no way in fucking hell is Ghetsis taller than Lysandre. (Also, N is canonically 7 inches shorter than Ghetsis, which he clearly is not in Masters).

kind of a dumb headcanon BUT i think whenever lance actually has some spare time (arceus knows he rarely has any of that) whenever he's not out and about with one of his Various Kids (kanto trio and johto quartet), i think he likes to knit. Specifically so that he can make stuff for the baby dratini in the dragon's den for the winter + stuff like hats and scarves for his own pokemon team. clair does the nearly the Exact Same Thing (crotcheting instead though), however, unlike lance, who would likely be calm about it being discovered (especially since silver would be the most likely to discover it since dad lance is real in my heart), clair would just Drop Kick the discoverer into oblivion (also likely silver. this time because it's funny)

Steven hides his most favourite rocks in his bedroom. He’d put them on display like the others, but he’s a little paranoid about something happening to them.

Lance, one day, had the genius idea to prank his boyfriend by hiding one of these rocks.

Steven freaked out.

Lance had never seem him so panicked in his life.

Lance, now regretting his choices, decided to look for it with Steven and pretend he found it. Years later he still feels guilty about it, but he’s taking this secret to the grave.

The kicker? Steven knows what he did, he figured it out pretty quickly once he calmed down after finding the rock. He never mentions anything to Lance because he thinks it’s funny to see Lance’s reaction whenever he brings up the incident

Pokemon Schooling headcannons!

Red

He finished public elementary school and then immediately disappeared for the mountains. Literally living my dream.

What else does he need.

Blue

Continued schooling at a private high-school while being a gym leader, then went to uni in Kalos to be a Pokémon professor.

Lance

Homeschooled from elementary to high school by his dragon clan. Then went to a private prestigious university in Galar (The same one Cynthia and Steven would eventually go to.)

Wallace

(He counts, he's the champion of my heart)

Secular Private school kid, all his life. (like meeee) Probably didn't go to university in favor of Contests, since he blew up in popularity around his mid teens.

Steven

Rich kid, private elementary school, private international school abroad and then abroad again to a uni in Galar. (all non secular)

Cynthia

Her family is rich but not that rich, Public elementary school and then secular private high school. Then obviously abroad in Galar.

Alder!!

I imagine a small schoolhouse for him in Floccessy town, where he schooled for elementary where his mom taught at. I don't think he got any higher schooling than that because I headcannon he went on his Pokémon journey on his teens and kept the title of champion for a long while.

Hear me out:

ACE kid.

He became champion really young so he probably didnt go to normal school as a kid, so ACE it was. He was enrolled there, but he never really showed up except if you counted him coming in once a month to get his Paces and pace tests

For the uninformed, Ace is a school system focused on self learning.

They give you a short workbook called a PACE that is essentially a week or twos worth of lessons, a goal chart that you have to set yourself which is basically a little calendar where you write your goal page, usually 3 - 5 pages and then you finish it at the end of the day.

If you are ever done with a goal or page, you go to the scoring station and then score it yourself.

Once you're done, you immediately take a test for all the stuff you learned.

That's basically the gist of it, but Leon would do his Paces in between training sessions, once the week was over, the finished paces and pace tests would go to the teacher to be graded.

She went to Naranja/Uva and it kinda strikes me as a good private school with functioning bathrooms so we'll go with that.

I love the hc that the reason Lance has such a soft spot for Silver is cuz he himself was like Silver as a kid.

There was a time where Lance also had an unhealthy view on battling, and also viewed any amount of weakness as the worst. But with the right support, he was guided back on the right track.

Later in life he sees Silver—who's fallen down the exact same path—and it breaks his heart cuz he knows Silver doesn't have anyone to help him like he did, and so he takes it upon himself to be that support and ugh/pos 🥹

I’m sliding this one here cause I don’t think I’ve mentioned it. I HC Lance’s last name to be Mizuchi, so “Lance Mizuchi” or “Wataru Mizuchi”

Last name Mizuchi coming from the japanese legend of a Dragon or Serpent-like-creature of aquatic origin, His last name making reference to his family crest symbol, a Gyarados, the Pokémon being a Dragon & Serpent-like-creature.

The Gyarados crest family symbol directly comes from PKMN Masters, Lance’s 2021 New Year’s Kimono.
