Spooky Video Game Music No. 277: Ultra Ruin- Pokemon UltraSun/UltraMoon (3DS)
Pokemon returns to this list again and boy this one is quite interesting. New to UltraSun and UltraMoon is the ability to go to the Ultra Wormholes. With the help of Solgaleo / Lunala, you travel through different dimensions to find the Ultra Beasts, mysterious creatures that just invaded the region of Alola. There are many dimensions, each with a different look. With the macho looking jungles of Buzzswole or Kartana’s majestic forest area, they are really unique on their own. However, you enter the world of Guzzlord, an Ultra Beast with a huge appetite. An alternative form of Hau’oli City where it’s all destroyed by a fallout from a nuclear power plant. The only human wearing a hazmat suit remains, telling you about what happened. After a nuclear plant ends up destroyed, all the humans sans one left to another dimension, leaving only Guzzlords eating anything on their path. After that, you travel ahead to find a Guzzlord waiting. Looks like a battle is happening…
Talk about the definition of unnerving. This music is basically Hau’oui’s City’s theme except all distorted, as if the theme is playing on some destroyed radio nearby. It’s definitely showing the opposite approach of the original theme, now sounding twisted and scary. The static adds to the creepiness, showing off the bleakness and emptiness of the aftermath of this dimension’s city. The fact the parts of Hau’oui City’s theme randomly showing up at intervals is really creepy, akin to a jumpscare. This sounds like it belongs to Fallout, not in a Pokemon game. I’m surprised how the only human and Guzzlord is not creeped out of this song. Definitely one of the most creepiest songs in the series yet. 🎃

Guys, is Wishiwashi worth it?
Base form is very very very weak, nothing special, won't make a lot of damage, won't last long
But in school form...
It is so freaking strong 😱
Atk and Def special and non-special from 130 to 140
It is even better than mythical pokemon or pseudo-legendaries (Dragonite, Tyranitar, Hydreigon etc)
Unless you have legendary pokemon in your team, it will be the best of the six
But if it takes too much damage and it's hp go under 25%, its ended
If this happens, the best things you can do are heal it or change pokemon
What do you think about Wishiwashi? Worth it?
In my opinion yes, but I want to hear other people's thoughts.
Imagine Wishiwashi on Pokemon GO 👀

Tbh the fun part about pokemon from the very beginning has been liking that little ugly dude no one else likes. I've seen people who love the little knife guy and the keychain man and the literal pile of garbage. The snow cone lovers and the people who like that one little fish you can only find in a specific tile of a specific route of a specific game that evolves only if you hold prism scale in a trade. Liking that one guy that isn't even that good...that's what those games are about

my WIP UltraSun nuzlocke (sort of)
i've realised with my new laptop I can finally continue my ultra sun game on Citra! It's kind of a softcore nuzlocke. Basically it's got permadeath but instead of catching only one pokemon each route, I catch every pokemon on the route. HOWEVER, I can't switch up my team except for when someone dies, and when they do I have to pick the new team member with a random name picker.
My current team, and the story so far told by how everyone else freaking died under the cut:
I got pretty far, and I'm currently somewhere along the Poni Island questline, can't remember where exactly. Here is my current team:
Tumblr media
This is Snazzypants. Ever since they joined after I wiped to Totem Marowak and got an entirely new team, he's been hard carrying the run. His offensive power is starting to fall off in the later game, but fur coat is still OP.
Tumblr media
The second longest lasting member of the team, Drugs joined after I lost half my team to the first Guzma fight. He's not quite as bulky as Snazzypants, but great at making any opponents way less good at killing all my team.
Then we have these guys who are all kind of new:
Tumblr media
Jarvis 2 joined after I lost 4 members to Guzma at the Aether Foundation, Cole joined after I lost one member to Lusamine, Cerberus and 01000101 joined after I was careless while level grinding and lost a couple other recent arrivals.
Now for all the dead mons!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since there are so many of them, I'll just list their levels and how they died.
Wormy the Caterpie - lvl3 - lvl3 - died to Pursuit from a Zorua I was trying to catch
Spots the Ledyba - lvl3 - lvl17 - also got Pursuited to death from one of Hala's pokemon
Flump the Slowpoke - lvl7 - lvl19 - died once again to Pursuit on the way to Brooklet hill
Molly the Buneary - lvl2 - lvl22 - died to Totem Araquanid
Em the Spearow - lvl10 - lvl12 - died to Totem Araquanid, about half an hour after replacing Flump
Donald the Yungoos - lvl3 - lvl21 - didn't survive the mandatory Battle Royale
Tom the Torracat - lvl5 - lvl25 - put up a valiant effort against Totem Marowak, but fell in the end, sealing the fate of the rest of the team
Cable the Charjabug - lvl4 - lvl22 - one of the final two to die in the Totem Marowak massacre, they didn't stand a chance
Reese the Cottonee - lvl12 - lvl20 - the second one to die in the Marowak massacre, perhaps in a futile attempt to allow a safe switch in
Bobby the Abra - lvl7 - lvl13 - another life tragically cut short by the ruthless Totem Marowak
BetterWormy the Butterfree - lvl10 - lvl12 - I am sorry past me, but WHY was BetterWormy at the front of the party for ANY part of Kiawe's trial???
Not Kukui the Hawlucha - lvl10 - lvl10 - the second one to die to Totem Marowak, probably because past me was a dumbass who forgot to grind
Priscilla the Ekans - lvl9 - lvl11 - got caught up in a Butterfree sweep, how embarrassing
Capt Beaky the Wingull - lvl6 - lvl11 - another one lost to the sheer power of that freaking Butterfree
Jarvis the Pikipek - lvl3 - lvl10 - managed to get oneshot by Silver Wind at the start of the Butterfree sweep, congratulations!
Bruce the Zubat - lvl7 - lvl10 - I'll just post my live discord reaction to Bruce's death:
Tumblr media
Garfield the Meowth - lvl8 - lvl17 - Garfield died solely because of my own selfish greed. He was ready to evolve, but I denied him that. I wanted to wait until he was level 30, so he would learn Payday, and I wanted to keep making use of his Pickup ability which would be replaced with Fur Coat when he evolved. Fur Coat would have allowed him to survive that Wingull's Wing Attack.
Rocky the Crabrawler - lvl8 - lvl24 - Top tip! When fighting Salandit pay absolute fucking attention to your pokemon's health! They will Dragon Rage you and your pokemon will die!
Acrylic the Smeargle - lvl8 - lvl25 - sacrificed her life to give Snazzypants a clean switch in during the Totem Marowak fight
Clowny the Mr. Mime - lvl9 - lvl26 - sacrificed so Snazzypants could be switched out to get rid of his lowered defense during the Totem Lurantis fight
Orang the Mankey - lvl12 - lvl17 - got OHKO'd by Take Down
Donut the Alolan Raichu - lvl2 - lvl36 - Guzma's Golisopod made a big First Impression
Shrek the Mudsdale - lvl12 - lvl35 - got taken down by Bug Buzz during the first Guzma fight
Addie the Oricorio - lvl12 - lvl30 - Guzma's freaking Masquerain had Icy Wind too
Splat the Malamar - lvl4 - lvl39 - This guy was gonna be my Ultra Necrozma strat. I really wanted to try Topsy Turvy on it. I'd kept him safe in the back of my party since I got him after the Marowak Massacre. Unfortunately, I'd forgotten about Innards Out.
Capt Beaky 2 the Pelipper - lvl33 - lvl47 - I was fighting a double battle with some Aether people, and I thought I'd be smart and go for U-turn instead of just switching. Unfortunately someone was faster and had an electric move.
Gremlin the Sableye - lvl11 - lvl50 - one of the many lives claimed by Guzma's final battle
TotallyATree the Sudowoodo - lvl20 - lvl48 - got some good hits in, but couldn't survive until the end of the fight
Rosie the Bewear - lvl20 - lvl33 - Capt Beaky 2's replacement who managed to take down Guzma's Vikavolt before being taken down herself
Cerise the Tsareena - lvl22 - lvl49 - the final victim of Guzma's onslaught, which left only Snazzypants and Drugs alive
Tumblr media
Rex the Tyrunt - lvl15 - lvl33 - died to a crit Surf while I was training the 4 new pokemon
Dogrock the Lycanroc - lvl14 - lvl48 - got oneshot by a critical Moonblast during the Lusamine fight
Avi the Talonflame - lvl19 - lvl46 - died to Revelation Dance while fighting a dancer to get the focus sash
Rana the Lurantis (totem size) - lvl30 - lvl47 - died to Dizzy Punch while in green health
I wonder who's going to die next!

What I'm doing on Wonder Trade in UltraSun
Cleaning out Wonder Trade (Basically Breed Bank Pokemon, hatch them and send them out on Wonder Trade and removing first Island Pokemon in the process)
Once I breed some Deerling, I will breed some Solrock and Lunatone as well as some Kanto Form Meowth, Geodude, Vulpix, Muk, Rattata and Sandshrew.
The next three Wonder Trades are:
Deerling
Solrock and Lunatone
Kanto Forms
After that, I will Breed Version Exclusives (I completed the Alola Dex before the GTS in Generation 7 was rendered unusable)
Future Wonder Trades:
Rare Balls
Sinnoh Gym Leaders
Clan Leaders
Personal five favourites of each Generation
Galar Gym Leaders
Paldea Gym Leaders
The last Wonder Trade will be the last one I will conduct in Generation 7
I will do mini Wonder Trades in between.
I will also focus on building up Battle Points and some Held before Trading items.
All Pokemon except ones with my OT that require a Held Item to Evolve via Trade will hold the following Berries: Custap, Jacoba, Rowap, Micle, Enigma, Lansat and Starf.
I will announce what Pokemon from each Generation from 1-7 I will Wonder Trade now. I will not use any Pokemon in the Alola Dex (Generation 7 is the exception)
For Generation 1, I will Wonder Trade:
Kanto Meowth, Kanto Vulpix, Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Venonat. (As Dragonite is in the Alola Dex, I decided to replace it with a Pokemon on my Honourable Mentions list)
For Generation 2, the chosen Pokemon are:
Teddiursa, Chikorita, Togepi, Totodile and Cyndaquil.
Generation 3:
Zangoose, Skitty, Mudkip, Solrock and Swablu
Generation 4:
Piplup, Pachirisu, Buizel, Kricketot and Glameow
Generation 5:
Oshawott, Deerling, Purrloin, Bouffalant and Snivy (The latter two are on my Honourable Mentions list)
Generation 6:
Froakie, Espurr, Honedge, Scatterbug and Slurpuff
Generation 7:
Popplio, Rowlet, Minior, Litten and Togedemaru
Some of those I haven't moved to Bank yet.

Ooc post, but. I've been seeing polls both on and off of Tumblr about "what your first Pokemon game was". And that's a valid question, because in many cases, that's all she wrote. That's the end-all, be-all of when you got invested into the franchise.
But what about those that it took a game or two? Or enjoyed the game, but didn't get truly hooked or invested in the fandom properly, like me? So I'm gonna ask a different question.
As an example, I answered Gen 3 despite STARTING with Gen 2. I played Gold first, went back and played Yellow, but I wasn't truly invested in the series as a kid until Emerald was being released. So I bought Sapphire, gave that a try, and that was when I was genuinely "hooked". That "Aha!" moment where the series caught me.

hello i am so in awe that you have collected all the pokémon games (i finished my collection of 3ds ones a bit ago but i considered a lot of the other ones out of reach) and i was wondering how long it took? i know especially the older remakes are insane to get so i’m super curious
(This got incredibly long i'm so sorry for the wall of text my guy)
In relation to this post
Hello there! :D
Believe me, I still can't believe it myself that I managed to pull it off considering who I had to get ahold of! Been happy dancing to myself ever since I got the last game~
God it feels like it was longer ago honestly, but I only really began trying to finish the Pokemon collection just a year ago! Had to check back in my DMs with my buddy, but the day I began to seriously search for the rest of the authentic generations was May 5th 2023, the day I discovered my copy of Platinum was a repoduction, ya watch ONE video regarding reals vs. fakes and it all went down from there when I looked over the ones I owned already, luckily Platinum was the only one who was fake ;w;
I had passively over the years been picking up games as I went, but from that day last year til recently I looked where I could for the games I was missing, to be fair I had about half the collection to begin with just from growing up and finding ones out and about, I only needed to find the pair of whatever I owned already, besides gen 5.... since I somehow never played gen 5 growing up. Funny enough I didn't have to look too far, every single game I found had all been local! Facebook marketplace saved me big time I just had to wait and compare prices til I was happy with what I was willing to pay for! I scrutinized every single copy I got my hands on and triple checked everything before I was satisfied XD
The 3DS titles were very easy to get thankfully, and the same goes for you too good on ya for getting your 3DS ones! Hardest for sure were gens 3-5, specifically ALL of gen 5 they are the WORST to get since no one wants to sell them and they're required to be able to move anyone forward to the 3DS and then to the Switch! I think It'd be easier to list who I owned and who I hunted for in the year of the search.
So I owned:
Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal, Leafgreen, Emerald, Diamond, Pearl, X, Alpha Sapphire, Moon, UltraSun, Sword, Violet and Arceus (some I had gotten as gifts growing up and others I had gotten through yardsaling and thrifting by chance as I grew up, Emerald was 70 at a yardsale!)
The ones I got from the year of the hunt:
Ruby, Sapphire, FireRed, Platinum, Heartgold, SoulSilver, Black, White, Black 2, White 2, Y, Omega Ruby, Sun, UltraMoon, Shield, Lets Go Pikachu, Lets Go Eevee (I DID own Eevee before but traded it in before the hunt) Scarlet, Brilliant Diamond, and Shining Pearl.
Now knowing who I had to get, we all know it costs a pretty penny, so I essentially sold things myself to fund the hunt, like my amiibos I didn't really need or want, a handful of random collectable things I picked up and kept over the years (notably a masterchief helmet from the legendary collection I got for free like 10 years ago lol) and some odds and ends I didn't need anymore and to declutter the home! I think out of my own pocket I only paid maybe 40 bucks total so I paid for everyone that way! It was all mostly luck finding everyone and keeping an eye on marketplace, and some of them I had gotten from folks I knew! Black and Black 2 actually came from one of my managers at work who sold them to me for insanely cheap, and Sapphire I got for free as I mentioned in the games post XD
If you do try to go for the complete collection, I say have a gameplan for how to pay and build that piggybank of funds, go for what you can afford! So if you see a game without a case thats usually better, you dont NEED a case or have a game CIB really, a bunch of mine dont have a case or box and I'm alright with that! Look locally at second hand stores, vintage ones, marketplace or any other local yardsale or fleamarket type thing you may have in your area, and I say this with caution, but if you HAVE to, you can consider ebay, but I strongly suggest not to when it comes to the games. I had originally tried to get a Brilliant Diamond copy from there and well, dude never sent it at all and got my money (ebay fully refunded me but that still bites). And finally get well versed in learning how to authenticate to the best of your abilities, 3DS and switch I don't think can be faked but everything else can be! I used this as my guide to figure out who was real and fake in my search and it worked very very well! Twas my bible of knowledge
End of the day it didn't take as long as one would think, but luck played a HUGE roll in this endeavor, I was smart with my money, and I was very very VERY stubborn and wanted them all XD
If you go for the complete collection like I did then I wish you the best of luck my friend! And thank you very much for the ask! It kinda got away from me while typing but yeah thats the story and process of how I got all the main series titles!

Feeling tempted to get yet another Pokemon game. Sun, Moon, and UltraSun are excellent but now I feel ready to try something new (but still the same because it’s Pokemon). Only considering games playable on a 3DS, favor games with cool bug type pokemon 🐛.

Connected my 2DS to the new network
Meaning I will be able to Wonder Trade on Pokemon UltraSun again. I have been playing Pokemon UltraSun this afternoon (Clearing out some Pokemon I received on Wonder Trade ages ago, plus a spare Bidoof Egg I had lying around; Bidoof was given an Enigma Berry, the ones with my OT will have the Event Berries. Once the Pokemon in the Alola Dex in my WT Box are Wonder Traded I will release every single Pokemon, with the exception of Starters/Minior, that’s in the Alola Dex.Now that I have Bank, I will Wonder Trade some Pokemon I plan to breed. There are people still playing in the Generation 7 games that may want a Kantoian Vulpix or Meowth, or even something like a Solrock or Deerling, but can’t because some wankers put hacked Pokemon on the GTS in Generation 7; I was on the GTS at the time when it happened, I remembered being kicked off the “Deerling” page when the GTS crashed, and Wonder Trade seems to be full of First Island Pokemon) Don’t worry about hackers when I Wonder Trade, as all Pokemon are genuine. I wish I could do regular Surprise Trades on my Switch, but because you now need an Online Subscription it just seems to be a hassle to get rid of the Breedjects you have.
