Wow Chionophobia was so good! I liked how Taco’s disappearance in the beginning was completely silent! It makes sense considering how stealthy she is, she’d probably learn to silence her movement to make sneaking around easier.

Goo was so silly!! I think his characterization was really good! Truly no other thoughts in his head except silliness, cheer and mlp..

Mic being stressed out the entire time ohh.. she was so worried! Especially when she couldn’t hear Taco with her hearing! I can’t imagine being able to know where basically any contestants are at all times but when she really needs to know it won’t work! That would put some not so good thoughts into Mic’s head of what could’ve happened to Taco!

Ohhhh Taco.. I’d imagine she doesn’t hide in the vents a whole lot. Maybe to travel throughout the hotel more discreetly if she wanted to be alone but not to stay in it for long periods of time. Could she have gone into them to try and be as far as possible from the snow? I wonder how her mindset was during her initial hiding- clearly she must’ve been so panicked.. her fear must be so intense to kick her mind and body into survival mode like that! It was almost like an instinct to try and get as far away from the snow as possible, not knowing nor caring where’d she end up as long as it was safe and inside- which automatically led her to the vents which would be the innermost part of the hotel. She’s literally in the walls! She probably had some nasty experiences during winter where she wasn’t sure if she was going to make it through the night due to the immense cold, or maybe her little den got snowed in once, or maybe she barely escaped being buried alive during a blizzard, or etc. etc. so much potential cause for it!

I’m glad it ended with a lighter note! Also NICKEL being the one to try to coax her out was so funny to me. He probably felt so awkward..

do you think Taco would open up to Mic about her fear of snow afterward when she’s more calmed down? Maybe at least a little so they could take more precautions for the next time it snows?

RIGHT!! He is so precious. Silly-billies his way into doing a great job handling a PTSD episode <3 Him sleeping next to her for so long helps her to start breathing slower, the hot chocolate helps to ground her, the infodumping gives her something to grasp onto to come out of the flashback, he is just a sweet little angel who has never done anything wrong in his entire life.

Mic is so very scared at that moment I'm glad you noticed!! :D Yeah normally she can hear everyone, usually even Taco when she's hiding away, but between Taco not talking and barely moving most of the day, and Goo infodumping right next to her, Mic can't pick up on her!! Which is so scary!!!

So! Yes, a part of it is her wanting to be as far from the snow as possible!! She is seeking immediate shelter!! I tend to think of her home while she was in the woods being a little den underground, maybe a little room or two with a tunnel in between them. And, after the event that traumatized her which I'll go into in just a moment, she's hidden herself away in her den/tunnel at any sign of snow. The events of the fic are not the first time Taco has had the extreme reaction to snow, it has been a trigger for her for a long time. The vents are not only hidden away, but the closest thing to her old den in the mansion. It's partially out of habit, in that way, since she's always hidden in her den when there was snow.

As for the event that caused the trauma, it goes as follows. Shortly after the end of season one, (Which ended early-mid December) and very shortly after the hotel was built (which seeing as it was made from MeLife, I doubt took very long), there was an absolutely bloody massive blizzard. A few meters or so of snow. And see, since this was so soon after the end of season one, Taco had nothing established, and no tools. She didn't have any den to hide in, she didn't have anything to cover herself with, and with the timing the hotel was very much not an option. She very much did get buried, and would've had to claw her way out of the snow a few times as it piled up. I doubt she could've made it there even if it was. She'd ended up with severe hypothermia after this, and I'd say the only reason she survived it is because she's made from MeLife. We don't know whether it was possible for them to die from things like hypothermia/starvation/etc., but let's just leave it that if they could have, she very likely would have. It was a living hell <3. She didn't have a shelter while she was sick or anything- she was out in the snow that entire time until it melted on its own. Which was quite a long time. And naturally, that experience traumatizes the living daylights out of her.

He did feel incredibly awkward, and also hated being the vents. He is a teensy bit claustrophobic to me <3. He likes Taco and everything, but he is not good with feelings, yeah?

Yup! Immediately post-fic, she'd still be nonverbal for a few days, and probably still hang out with Goo a lot. He's a comfort for her now, and of course he hasn't finished recapping all of My Little Pony in incredible detail to her. [Some readers pointed out the implication that he remembers every single episode in detail and in order, and I'd like to clarify- yes, yes he does.] Once Taco is talking a bit more though, which would also be over the course of a few days, Mic would probably start to broach the subject with her. I don't think Taco would give her all the details yet, since her trauma surrounding snow is still like, 0% healed at the moment, but Mic is so sincerely worried about her that Taco would give her the rundown. A sentence or two about having gotten caught in a blizzard once and having gotten sick afterwards. I don't think she could get out more than that at this point, without tears at least.

I have an au related to the question I'd posted earlier today in the works that seems like it might be worthy of being actually written, though it would be a bit. I'd be kind of pointless to post the outline for Chionophobia since I posted the actual story, but to use it as an example, it's outline is significantly more detailed than the outlines/story summaries I usually post on here, because I need that detail to help me actually write the story. So basically, I'll have to write a nice, thorough outline before I write the story, which may take time. Or not. I thought Chionophobia would take longer but 22 hours and 19 pages later, there I was ready to post, so.

The way Hannibal's gaze is glued to Will in this moment (when he's about to give up everything) is making me sick because he was so desperate to have Will's attention on him one last time. My vulnerable little pumpkin just wanted to be loved 😭 He simply never learned how to express his emotions in a normal + healthy way and that is why I'll forever be a Hannibal Lecter apologist.

Hannibal could've stayed inside Will's shed and Jack eventually would've found him in there. But he decided to kneel down onto the snow which is monumental in itself because of his childhood trauma: the last time Hannibal was on his knees in the snow was when he was a child; directly after the death of his parents and sister; when he was on the verge of death from starvation. I think this action was a form of self-inflicted punishment because he felt that he was losing Will and resorted to this: something that would seep into his bones + rival the ache in his heart. Hannibal had no one to look for the last time he was knee deep in snow. He had no one to turn his gaze to; no one that would even remotely care. He did in Digestivo. He made sure Will saw him, so that he wouldn't be forgotten, because what he feared most was Will's apathy and disinterest.

I need need need a fic where Will learns Hannibal struggles with chionophobia (extreme fear of snow) + then links it back to the moment Hannibal surrendered and knelt in the snow in his backyard.

Imagine Hannibal being taken post-fall when it's the dead of winter. He fights back (but is sedated and severely wounded in the process) and collapses in the snow + it ends up triggering his chionophobia. He's out there for what feels like hours. Will is desperately searching for him the entire time. He's curled in on himself to stay warm and unresponsive (with a glassy-eyed gaze) until Will's hands come to cradle his wet, freezing cheeks.

Tėtis is a word Will's only ever heard in instances where Hannibal sleep-talks during fitful nightmares. He knows what it means now (after his curiosity had gotten the best of him one night + he ended up resorting to google translate; only for his heart to shatter in the process). Will's chosen to never tell Hannibal that he sleep-talks and instead cherishes the moments Hannibal unconsciously seeks out comfort + unknowingly lets his gaurd down once he's subsequently cradled against Will's chest + soothed with gentle touches and soft words of reassurance until he ultimately settles down + returns to a peaceful state of sleep.

Imagine Will bundling a shivering Hannibal into his arms + carrying him to the car + reassuring Hannibal that it'll be okay. That Daddy's here. That he's safe now. That he'll be warm soon. Imagine Will wondering throughout all of this: if Hannibal had been close to regressing that night in his backyard + if any more time had passed would he have found Hannibal in a similar position: curled up in the shed + shivering + begging for the comfort of his dead father in a language Will wouldn't have been able to understand.

Imagine Will taking notice of the large wet patch on the front of Hannibal's crotch + the acrid stench of urine clinging to the ruined garment. Imagine Hannibal whimpering and whining as it's quickly removed because he's far too cold + then Will comforting him with gentle words and wrapping a jacket or a blanket around his waist. Imagine Hannibal being in the backseat of the car (or even the loading trunk because it's easier for Will to strip him there and bundle him up in the blankets designated for their dogs, who occasionally reside in the trunk during car rides) + panicking because he lost sight of Will, who is now driving them to a getaway boat. Imagine Hannibal calling out for Tėtis in a frightened, tearful voice; so unlike the precise manner in which he usually speaks.

Imagine Will wondering what would've happened if more time had passed before Jack had arrived in Digestivo. If he would've had to witness Hannibal in a state such as this; being whisked away when he felt cold and frightened and in search of reassurance; in search of Will; in search of someone who loved him. It's at this moment where Will realizes Hannibal hasn't felt loved since he was a child.

Will gets Hannibal to the boat and changes him into a set of fresh clothes and attempts to feed him a bowl of soup to help warm him up, but Hannibal panics and refuses. It's the first time Will's ever seen Hannibal cry and consciously seek out physical and emotional comfort, burrowing into his chest to be held.

Mic wakes to a dull streak of sunlight streaming into her eyes and dimly illuminating her room. She turns over, blinking the sleep out of her eyes, and sees Taco still dead to the world beside her. It was only recently that she began waking up before Taco and what a relief it is. She knows Taco needs the sleep. Mic creeps her way out of bed and heads to the window. Nothing wakes her up better than a breath of crisp technically still-morning air. As she peels back the curtains, though, she’s distracted by the untouched layer of pure white snow gleaming back at her. Even if she can’t actually go out in the snow, being an electronic, she’s always appreciated it for how beautiful it is, especially when it’s fresh.

Speaking of beautiful things, Mic turns back around to Taco, still blissfully unaware in their bed, debating whether or not to wake her up. On one hand, Taco really doesn’t sleep as much as she should, even if she refuses to admit it. On the other hand, they’d never been together while it was snowy before. She’d always been stuck in the hotel until it all melted away, and unable to reach Taco. After everything that had happened, they could finally just enjoy the snow together.

...Or so Mic thought.

Hi Odyssey!! Welcome, and thank you for sending in an ask!! :] I don't...think I've gotten this before? I don't tend to remember what I'm asked very well. But even if I have I'm happy to share more!!! (*๓´╰╯`๓)

yes, yes I do!!! Chionophobia is post finale Taco angst, my current wip is post finale Taco angst, I really like post finale Taco angst a whole lot!!!! So please enjoy some post finale Taco angsts!!

So, Taco is super nervous to be around everyone now, yeah? And a lot of them really don't like her and would remain quite suspicious of her. But Taco is one of if not the only ones who has a lot of the knowledge and survival skills they'll need for building their new community. Foraging and farming? Everyone else has had groceries from the hotel or food provided by Mephone during the show. Some goes for hunting. Making basic tools? Only something Taco would have to do. Making a proper shelter that will keep them safe before they're able to make actual buildings? Again, Taco has already had to do that, so she's their best source of knowledge for it. They don't have much of a choice but to take her advice on things, but most of them don't trust her, or like her for that matter. So she ends up being stuck constantly interacting with everyone instead of being able to fade into the background behind Mic, constantly getting met with suspicion and scorn, regardless of her intention to actually help.

I'm not going to touch too deeply into her grief for Mepad here, since again that's what my current wip is about so I don't want to accidentally spoil everything, but I don't think she's gonna handle it well. Mepad was the only object she'd properly expressed her true feelings to, yeah? And with Mic, she's going to be walking on eggshells for quite some time trying to make sure she stays on her good side. She wouldn't be comfortable enough to talk about those feelings yet, at the very least until she's sure Mic won't leave her again. Pickle is out of the question of course, and she doesn't really know anyone else. She... really doesn't have an outlet for her grief.

I think Taco's reaction to meeting both Silver and Blueberry would be an interesting one. She'd be smart enough to pick up on the parallels, yeah? Since they know that they were made by Mephone now. Another british antagonist? Another very small contestant that winds up being a twist villain? That's got to be rough to see. Similar to how Box might feel if she ever puts together that Suitcase was a version 2.0 of her. Honestly, I can't even get into all my thoughts about how Taco is going to feel with having been made by Mephone, since I will never get off my soap box about her being one of if the most mistreated of all the contestants by Mephone. It would take me hours to write it out and I don't think anyone wants to hear that because I am very biased lol.

So, in Truth or Flare, Taco is very much aware that she is going to die. She doesn't believe Mephone will recover her, she is very aware that her injury is progressing to a dangerous state, she fully thinks she's going out permanently very soon. That my friends is called a dangerous disregard for personal safety, and happens often to people with very poor mental health and high amounts of self-loathing. Mepad had certainly helped but... he and Taco never did get to discuss how she'd been made. She'll always be wondering if Mepad would still believe in her like he had. And she's in a high-stress situation at the moment. The gist of what I'm trying to say is that I highly doubt Taco cares much more about her own well-being/life at this point than before. Her uncaringness before still applies, because she still thought she'd be dead forever.

Relating back to my first hc about Taco dealing with a lot of dislike from the others and suspicion when she tries to help, think about if something went wrong. If she gathered some berries that she'd grown a tolerance to intending to be the only one to eat them, but they're mistaken by someone else and a few unlucky objects end up vomiting. Even though she hadn't intended to cause harm and there had been a simple mistake, it would be taken by quite a few of the others as a sign that she's still trying to cause harm and isn't to be trusted. She has a long road ahead of her, yeah?

Hi Moldy!!^^ Welcome back, and thank you for sending in an ask!! :] I saw your other one too, so I know what exactly you'd like!! ;)

I think Taco definitely egged on Mic's unhappiness towards Baseball & Nickel while they were together. Mic would complain about how they treat her, and Taco would back her up, and encourage her in her own Taco-y way. Something about seeing their faces when Mic wins, yeah? Taco might even get into the shit talking as well, which gives Mic a rather soured view of some of the season 1 contestants she didn't know as well. She'd probably warm up to them more once she actually gets to meet them, though Taco does have some pretty good points and solid grasps on their personalities. As I've said before, Taco understands people in a way that helps with manipulation, not socializing.

In an effort to get Taco to open up to her, I think Mic might try opening up to Taco! This goes as well as you might imagine. Taco is not good at feelings, nor is she willing to put the effort in at this point in time. Mic goes into her frequent bouts of self-doubt and Taco just kind of says "nah we got this" and moves on. She gets better later on after their breakup!!! As much as I think she'll struggle socially post-finale, I also think Mepad has helped her build at least the start of a foundation, yeah? He's been able to patiently explain things to her that no one else even knew she needed explained.

Mic tries to sneak up on Taco once, let's say between episodes 11 and 12, and Taco reflexively tases her. She's out of commission for a good few hours afterwards. Mic never tries to sneak up on Taco ever again, and notices from this point on that Taco is actually quite jumpy. That's actually why I specified in Chionophobia that Mic shakes the bed beside Taco to wake her up!!! No, I will never stop talking about my fic and I'm only a little sorry for it. Taco was out there alone for so long, the only reason she'd ever been awoken by touch is if a bear or other predator had managed to get close to her. If anyone, even Mic, tries to touch her at all whatsoever to wake her up, she'll startle awake and either immediately start biting or pull out a weapon to use.

I think it would be really funny if, in those earlier days, Mic had no idea what any British terminology meant. If Taco tells her to put some rubbish in the bin, then Mic would just stare at her blankly. Taco would use "bloody" as a descriptor and Mic would take it literally and be baffled. Eventually she just goes online and reads about British slang and such so she can get whatever Taco is saying. It'd help her understand Toilet, too.

Mic sneaks Taco a few things from the hotel, maybe a blanket, some food, a couple of water bottles, yeah? And Taco acts rather nonchalant about it, giving not much more than a casual thanks and playing it off, but it's the only gift she's been given in ages, and she is so very happy inside. It's the best food she's had in quite a while, yeah? Something she can't get out in the woods, chocolate or something. Clean water and use containers with the bottles. And a blanket. A blanket!!! Something warm for her to sleep under, something for her to snuggle up in!! I like to think, in the end, she keeps the blanket in her shell, and thus ends up bringing it back with her after everything got deleted. It would wind up being the only blanket they have, lol. Chionophobia Podfic!!

its done. uh. i was planning on doing more progress updates but i have been in a writing frenzy this weekend because i was very determined to get it done. so. yeah, story will be going up later today, ill be making another post for it. just gotta wait for my platonically beloved beta reader to check over it and my romantically beloved partner to give it the last read-through first. sorry for not answering asks this weekend, as i genuinely have been spending almost every waking moment writing. i have not done my homework. i am incredibly tired after all that lol.

Chionophobia Progress Update #1

Hi everyone!^^ It's time for the first update on my progress with Chionophobia! :) It's currently 2/5 complete, and 16 pages long, lol. I wrote it instead of studying last night, so while I am cooked, I am also happy with having made so much progress! :D I'm planning to post it on ao3, ff.net, and even wattpad since even though I don't normally use it, there are a lot of ii fics on there, yeah?

Sorry for not having posted much in the past few days, my art queue that normally has things scheduled to be posted has run out since I've been writing instead of drawing, recently. I'm still working hard on II things, I promise! <3

PS. If I see a SINGLE among us joke anywhere near Chionophobia, I am blocking and reporting every single one of you /j /lh
