And one of the most powerful tools in this process is Yoga. We can say Yoga is the best medicine for this. Daily practice of yoga and pranayama can help in many ways, such as reducing blood sugar levels, regulating blood pressure, and lowering the risk of heart problems. Also help in improving muscular strength and endurance, balance and flexibility, and releasing stress.
Yoga and diabetes:
The basic cause for diabetes is insulin resistance, a condition where the body either doesn’t produce sufficient insulin or is unable to use the insulin produced by the pancreas. Insulin resistance is responsible for a host of so-called ‘lifestyle disorders’, including, among others, BP, high cholesterol, PCOD/S, and of course, diabetes. Lets understand causes of insulin resistance, three are diet-related, two relate to exercise and one is, stress.
These poses activate your parasympathetic system, helping dissipate stress a key factor in fat storage. The poses also work on your visceral organs the pancreas, liver, kidney, in particular, all key organs in regulating blood sugar. Another area where these asanas have a major impact is the digestive tract. By improving blood flow to this area, the asanas help the body to maintain a healthy and balanced gut microbiome a key element in avoiding nutrient deficiency.
Here is a list of the top ten asanas, you should try and include in your daily practice
Surya Namaskar: Suryanamaskar improves blood circulation, improves spine health, increases muscular strength, lung capacity, and the management of insulin.
Padhastasana (hand under foot pose) - It stimulates your viscera and strengthens the abdomen, improving its efficiency.
Pavanamuktasana (wind removing pose)- This asana too has a great effect on your visceral organs, massaging the pancreas, liver, spleen, and colon
Shalabhasana (locust pose)- This exercises for your leg muscles tremendously.
Mandukasana (Frog Pose)- A powerful hip-opening movement, the mandukasana exerts pressure on the pancreas and liver.
Adho mukha svanasana- It relaxes your body, relieving stress. It is said to improve hearing, eyesight, and even hair growth!
Ardha Matsyendra Asana- It has a massaging effect on the pancreas, liver, and stomach, improving BSL management and digestion.
Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose)- The cobra pose brings many benefits, beyond the obvious one of spinal health
Santulanasana - This is a powerful strengthening pose for the arms, chest, back, triceps, leg, and core.
Butterfly pose - It improves posture, enhances spine health, and strengthens the muscles of the lower back, hips.
Yoga is not just a panacea, it is a lifestyle that brings many holistic benefits to the mind, body, and soul. 🔸Along with physical health, it is also beneficial for mental health. It reduces mental disorders like lust, anger, jealousy etc. Concentration develops.
🔸Walking on green grass with dew drops is more beneficial. It is especially beneficial for the eyes. During rainy days, one can walk on wet grass.
🔸Walking should be done at a moderate pace according to physical capacity. It is mentioned in Sushruta Samhita (Chikitsa Sthan: 24.80): Yattu chakramanam naatidehpeedaakaram bhavet. Tadayurbalamedhaagnipradamindriyabodhanam.

🔸Walking increases a person's creativity by an average of 60 percent.
🔸Walking reduces the risk of hypertension and type-2 diabetes.
🔹Keep in mind🔹
🔸If there is no grass, do not walk barefoot. Walking barefoot causes diseases, damages eyesight and destroys life. Walk in a pollution-free place. Yoga For the Elderly: A Guide to Aging Gracefully
Tumblr media
With aging, muscles tend to lose their flexibility, making daily activities difficult to manage. As a result, it becomes a herculean task to uphold physical and mental well-being. This is a shared perception amongst every individual entering their 60s. But there is a remedy to curb such a prevalence, which can be made possible by practicing yoga. This ancient form of yoga practice holds a myriad of holistic and wellness benefits.
Right from enhancing moods, balance, and strength, there are endless benefits of practicing yoga for senior adults. Want to know how yoga in Gurgaon emerges out to be transformative paving a path towards joy and wellness for the elderly? Here are a few reasons as to why yoga proves beneficial for seniors and older adults:
Enhances Bone Strength
Reduced bone density is a common concern in older adults. Studies indicate that yoga enhances bone density in those people who have suffered bone loss in the past or are fighting osteoporosis. Multiple yoga postures aim at putting pressure on bones that further boosts the generation of bone-building cells.
Enhances Balancing Ability
Reduced balancing ability is another common issue witnessed amongst seniors over 65 years. Experiencing difficulties in balancing oneself may also lead to falls and injuries. Indulging in yoga practices that focus on building balance helps strengthen muscles that are responsible for stability while standing and walking. Different yoga postures, such as side plank, tree, and half moon postures, can be tried to enhance the balancing ability to prevent potential risks and injuries.
Relieves Aches and Pain
Yoga can effectively alleviate different types of chronic pain and other body ache issues caused by repetitive stress on the body and arthritis. Compared to weight-bearing exercises, yoga goes gentle on the body of seniors. It also eases the overall tension and eliminates pressure.
Improves Concentration
Cognitive changes occur with aging, and thus, seniors may face issues in concentration and multitasking. Indulging in meditation and pranayama activates the brain and the nervous system, further improving focus and memory. Pranayam promotes mental calmness and induces a state of relaxation in the brain by gaining control over the breath. On the contrary, meditation besides just calming the mind, also aims at minimizing distractions.
Keeps you in a Good Mood
Most of the elderly people experience an emotional state of loneliness and isolation. With that said, enrolling oneself in a yoga class gives an excellent opportunity to seniors to make new pals. Yoga classes can help seniors build their own community who share the same thoughts and wellness goals. Hence, it is easy to predict that yoga serves as a stress buster that also promotes positive moods and keeps depression at bay. One feels more energetic, more happy and obviously less anxious by practicing yoga daily.
Enhances Sleep Quality
Insomnia and lack of sleep are other common issues associated with aging. But the good news is that even such disrupted sleeping patterns can be resolved with yoga. Practicing this ancient form of wellness helps in reducing stress levels and induces relaxation. Incorporating light stretching exercises and meditation before bedtime enhances the quality of sleep quality and the seniors may soon find themselves catching those Z’s in style.

Zumba Fitness With Zin Forum - A certified Zumba instructor conducting Zumba sessions across pune since last 8 years. Zumba is a way of spreading smiles and happiness for me. Zumba fitness is one of the best form of cardiovascular workout and always feels like a dance fitness party like no other.
Zumba, a combination of salsa and aerobics, can have many benefits, including:
Weight loss : Zumba can burn 600–1,000 calories in an hour.
Toning : Zumba works many muscle groups at once.
Heart health : Zumba provides aerobic and anaerobic benefits, which can help lower your risk of heart disease and reduce your blood pressure and bad cholesterol.
Stress relief : Zumba can help you de-stress by turning your attention away from the daily grind. As you dance, your brain releases endorphins that can make you feel happy.
Coordination : Zumba requires coordination because your arms and legs move in different directions.
Flexibility : Zumba can help you improve your flexibility.
Social interaction : Zumba provides an opportunity for social interaction.
Pain threshold : Zumba can increase your pain threshold.
Skin health : The sweat you work up during a Zumba class can clear out your pores and allow your skin to breathe.
Zumba is adaptable for any fitness level and you can find classes at fitness centers, apps, or online.
