ughhh haikyuu is so good at making the speed of the freak quick Feel shocking and sharp.. the way they play with the tempo of animation to usually have a slower shot of the pass and/or kageyama getting his fingers under the ball (or show multiple alternate angles to lengthen the seconds between shots) to make his quick set right after feel so zippy and superhuman… TASTY!!!

Hey y'all! Do you have any recommendations for other plushie makers or designers with shops where I can buy their plushies?
#the person behind the yarn#every once in a while I like to buy plushies to learn how they were made#not to copy the patterns! not to take them apart!#just to look at them in person so I can see like. how the heck did they do that#and sometimes the answer is “embroidery machine” or “custom fabric” or “airbrushing” so I can't do it#but sometimes the answer is “elastic in the pig's tail” or “hidden ladder stitch in this section to make it turn”#and then I can take that tool and use it in the future to design other plushies#I assume other designers do that with my plushies?#like. there are plushie construction techniques I can learn just from looking at a picture of a finished plushie sometimes#some of them I keep and some of them get added to my stash of 'future baby shower presents'#and I am about to pretty much clear off the shelf where I keep them#because I like to send plushies for the older siblings too when I send baby gifts to people I know#which means this latest round of baby blankets will go out with SIX plushies#so I have space! and I want to see about getting a few more plushies over time#and one of them is a seagull from a major brand because it makes me laugh and also I want to see how they did the beak#but I also like to drag out the plushie selecting process over days. it's fun! gives me something to look forward to!#and I will not be buying six plushies at once (that's expensive) so I will have something to look forward to again in the future! :D

i know canon more or less says this can't be true but based on what we're told about him and his attitude in 4-1 i think apollo should be an absolute fount of knowledge of phoenix's past cases. he's a law nerd who actively looked up to phoenix, he might not have known about the gramarye trial and its aftermath but he has to have known about phoenix's previous cases bc otherwise it makes no sense for him to be SO insistent that phoenix has to be innocent—if he doesn't know anything about him why would he be so sure? if it weren't for the constraints of the medium i think he would know about the gramarye trial but it does get awkward for the writers when the characters know things the players don't so like i get it. i just think based on what we know of apollo, especially with his AA6 backstory factored in but frankly even without it just from his behavior in 4-1 alone, it would be more in keeping with apollo's personality for him to have gotten hold of every scrap of publicly available information about phoenix's trials in general and the gramarye trial in particular. in my heart he's written multiple papers on the gramarye trial and why phoenix was probably framed

Oral Presentations: what to keep in mind
A list of all the things professors/evaluators consider when grading oral presentantions
1. Contents
Basically how much do you know and if you stay on topic. You need to cover all the important information/what it is in the original material you are using. But careful, if you know everything but talked too much about non-relevant stuff, that can rest points.
In a second note, it is not prohibited to check your visual aid, that's what it is there for. Many mistake knowing the material with being able to recite it from memory. The second one is almost inachivable. Just know most of it and keep you notes/visual support to remind you of the things you will inevitablely forget
2. Secuence
A presentations needs an order. Talking about something, changing the topic and going back to the original idea is very disorganized and that's not something you want. Repeting points or not connecting them is not good either. Your ideas need to be organized and have an order.
The best way to keep it organized is to make a draft or a guide of your presentation. Decide what are you going to say, when to say it and what connectors you are going to use.
3. Documentation
Your visual aid/support. Not only it has to be appropiate (see this post for that!) but it also has to more than a decoration. Having one but never using, just making it because you were required to, is not going to get you extra points for "not needing".
Use it. Present to your audience graphs if you are talking about numbers. Show pictures of what you are describing. Signal your topics in aid so your audience knows they can read it too. Make it be something more than a decoration.
4. Pronunciating and Vocalizating
Saying the words right and in the correct tone can be hard, but it is crucial. There isnt much you can do to correct except rehersing, finding ways to avoid words you cant pronounce and practicing them when they are unavoidable. Always remember to not talk too fast or too slow. Dont use slang and keep it formal.
5. Volume
Can the person sitting at the back of the room hear you? If not, that's a problem. People being able to hear you is a key part of presenting a topic. Here is an article on how to project your voice!
6. Posture
Are you too tense? Does your face show all that anxiety and nervs? Are you balancing your feet? Are you hiding your arms/hands behind your back/in your pocket? Are you making eye contact? Are you fidgeting with your hand/hair/clothes? Are you slouching? Are you forgetting to breathe? Well, evaluators notice all of this and they dont like it.
I know, it sucks. Eye contact is uncomfortable, fidgeting is almost a reflex and putting your hands in your pockets seems better than having them shakint your sides. We all hate that we have to take care of this and it's a pretty shitty policy but it isnt changing any time soon. Recommendations because we all need them:
Fidgetting -> Using your hands to signal things in your visual aid / Count key points with your fingers for emphasis
Eye contact -> Look a little bit, just a little, above people eyes. Also, change where/who are you looking every few seconds
Slouching/shoulder tension -> Straighten your posture just before starting it and breathe deeply (or a quick breathing exercise if you have the time) to relase tension
More
Good luck with your presentation!

genuine question, do you like maths?? i have a vague feeling i saw your post of tags or something that said something about it but i cannot figure out if it was in fact you or if it was even positive ahahah
Yeah that was me! I don't go looking for math problems, but when I happen to do them, I tend to enjoy it. Wasn't always this way — elementary school math was about speed and memorization and I hated that — but I had a really good teacher in upper secondary school, and it became about creative problem solving. It feels the same as writing a poem in meter or managing to untangle a really bad knot in a ball of yarn.
#i can't do math in my head or memorize formulas#and i'm not precise‚ which is bad for questions that are only numbers. like. 5+6=? type of stuff#because if all you need to is write the final answer‚ then if that answer is wrong‚ youve failed. don't get the points for the exam question#but! upper secondary school math! my beloved! (specifically lyhyt matikka‚ idk what pitkä is like)#there's a book that has all the formulas in it and you can use it and look them up even during exams. no memorization#it doesn't explain *how* the formulas are used but still#and there was more time than there ever was in my previous schools. and finishing fast did not mean you were better. i could take my time#and there were so many... worded questions? like instead of pure numbers they present the problem to you in words. phrases. prose#here is a situation. solve it#and you get to choose HOW to solve it#sometimes i could not remember how a formula worked‚ or hadn't quite figured out a recently taught technique yet#and i just. figured out a different way to solve the problem#can't remember the answer to 5x8? let's count 5+5+5+5+5+5+5+5 instead#38/7? lets draw 38 little balls in the margin and separate them into groups of 7 and see how many there are and how many strays get left out#like that but applied to lots of stuff#and it was enougj! it was fine! it was a valid way to solve it! i got the right answer!#unless i messed something up! a + turned into a - by accident somewhere in the middle of the equation#but! part of this level of math was that it was encouraged to write our whole thought process down#and i‚ unable to do it off the paper anyway#i wrote down ALL OF IT#and the teacher saw where i went wrong and that it was little precision things but that i had the techniques down and#i still got most of the points for those questions instead of losing everything because of an incorrect number at the end#these differences have meant everything#math is puzzles. puzzles can be fun#some of my first memories of math class are of me sobbing under my desk#i cried a few tears in all my matriculation exams too‚ even for my favourite subjects. but not math#one of the most important questions was a geometry one. i shine in that area#i grinned doing it

Power of Repetition in Public Speaking
After watching "Oscar-winning actor & writer Tom Hanks gives the Oxford Union an acting lesson" on YouTube I felt inspired to write this blog. The link below if interested.
youtube
Public speaking is an art that transcends mere words; it involves a deep understanding of human psychology, effective communication techniques, and the strategic use of rhetorical devices. Among these, repetition stands out as a powerful tool that can elevate a speech from ordinary to extraordinary. In this blog, we delve into the Repetition class in speaking, exploring how this technique can captivate audiences, enhance message retention, and leave a lasting impact.
The Basics of Repetition:
Repetition involves the intentional reuse of words, phrases, or ideas within a speech. When employed thoughtfully, it can create emphasis, reinforce key points, and establish a rhythm that resonates with the audience. There are various forms of repetition, each serving a unique purpose:
Anaphora: This involves repeating the same word or phrase at the beginning of successive clauses or sentences. For example, Martin Luther King Jr.'s iconic "I Have a Dream" speech masterfully uses anaphora with the repetition of "I have a dream."
Epistrophe: In contrast to anaphora, epistrophe repeats a word or phrase at the end of successive clauses or sentences. Winston Churchill's famous "We shall fight on the beaches" speech is a classic example of epistrophe in action.
Anadiplosis: This technique involves repeating the last word of one clause or sentence at the beginning of the next. This creates a seamless connection between ideas and builds momentum. Yoda's sage advice, "Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering," is an example of anadiplosis.
The Impact of Repetition:
Emphasis: Repetition serves as a spotlight, directing the audience's attention to specific words or ideas. By repeating a key point, a speaker can emphasize its importance, making it more likely to be remembered.
Rhythm and Flow: A well-crafted repetition adds a musical quality to a speech, creating a rhythmic flow that engages the audience. This cadence can make the message more memorable and enjoyable.
Connection: Repetition helps to establish connections between different parts of a speech. It ties ideas together, creating a cohesive narrative that is easier for the audience to follow.
Persuasion: Through repetition, a speaker can subtly persuade the audience to adopt a particular viewpoint or take action. The consistent reinforcement of a message can influence attitudes and beliefs.
Practical Tips for Using Repetition Effectively:
Choose Key Points: Identify the core messages you want to convey, and strategically repeat key words or phrases associated with these points.
Consider Your Audience: Tailor your repetition to resonate with your audience. Understanding their preferences, values, and expectations will help you use repetition more effectively.
Vary Your Approach: While repetition is a powerful tool, overusing it can diminish its impact. Vary your repetition techniques to keep the audience engaged and interested.
Practice Pacing: The timing and pacing of repetition are crucial. Practice delivering your speech with the right rhythm to maximize its impact.
In the world of public speaking, the Repetition class is a formidable ally. When wielded with skill and precision, repetition can transform a speech into a compelling, memorable experience for both the speaker and the audience. By understanding the various forms of repetition and practising its implementation, speakers can elevate their communication skills and leave a lasting impression on those who listen.

placeholder post for a drabble I might write, but please consider Meng Yao somehow stealing the secret of Wen Zhuliu's magic hand.
Imagine Wen Yao, in Nightless city, taking over WZL's role in some way (either by copying the technique, ingratiating himself as his student, or some situational cannibalism, all viable ways of stealing core melting secrets imho)
The ramifications are so juicy. Whether or not he tells WRH about his new skill, he is still indispensable to him, especially if WZL is out of the picture - and think about what he could do with a Core Melting Hand in his arsenal.
I'm just ruminating here, but I feel like it'd be a very convenient way to neutralize Nie Mingjue without killing him, for example.
Back in Nightless City, when NMJ is taken prisoner, Wen Yao could taunt him and then take away his cultivation - both for show (to appease WRH) and for self defense, tbh (he knows the fallout will be bad, and he is correct about this in canon). Granted, this would not make NMJ any less furious with him! In fact, he'd probably hate him more. But JGY would have the reasonable excuse that he did it as an alternative to killing him, and for one LXC would buy that, even if NMJ has his doubts.
What does that mean postwar? At this point, NMJ would just be a normal guy and wouldn't be able to hurt a cultivator, not even one with a middling golden core, which means JGY might not fear for his life and might not have to kill him. (NMJ, ironically, might get to live a long life! Has no excuse not to marry for heirs now, but can also continue to lead the sect and this means everyone [except him] is generally happier, including Nie Huaisang.)
What's more, if they decide to keep NMJ's lack of a core a secret not to make the Nie an obvious target, then the sworn brotherhood could be suggested specifically to conceal NMJ's situation, putting him in JGY's debt. There are a lot of interesting ramifications when you remove fear for his life as JGY's primary feeling when interacting with NMJ, and he may take Jin Guangshan's orders to get rid of him with a grain of salt - or even be able to convince JGS that it is not necessary if he leaks the secret of NMJ's missing core. (But the political fallout would then be an entirely different can of worms!)
Also LXC knows and he thinks thatJGY being able to rip out a dude's core but obviously not even considering doing it to him is very sexy.
(thank you server pals for brainstorming this blatant excuse for overpowered wen yao with me, bless)

so i just belatedly realized the insane fucking implications of the power i gave seph in jjk-verse, ie raine finally learns how cursed energy actually works and sits back in her chair contemplating life choices
like no matter WHICH side they’re on. being able to siphon cursed energy from someone else and funnel it elsewhere (or absorb it herself) is pretty bonkers. especially combined with the heavenly pact that gave them So Goddamn Much cursed energy production. a functionally limitless amount of the stuff just pouring and pouring and pouring and pouring. no wonder it almost killed them. imagine what that could do in the context of bringing in curse users for interrogation (or outright killing them)?????
like weakening a special grade so bad they can just be fully cornered and captured??? granted that would potentially fuck her up pretty bad from too much at once but STILL, it's WILD — and omfg. being able to act as a battery for someone they're fighting with by splitting the ridiculous amt of cursed energy she produces between the two of them!!!! amplifying the power of someone who would normally be hopeless against xyz enemy!!! TF!!!!! even without the ability to use reverse cursed technique it is ABSOLUTE INSANITY and i love it because as Fucking Usual, she pays absolutely no attention to anything but her martial skills & isn't even slightly aware of what she can dooooo
