📚 It girl's guide to school 📚
hiii girls! this is part of the big Guide to being the It Girl. this section will be all about school, studying and academics. i'll teach you how to tackle school, get the highest grades effortlessly, and look chic and gorgeous doing it! the rest of the ultimate it girl series is linked! 🎀
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
guide to getting good grades:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
LISTEN IN CLASS. one of the best tips ever. if you would actually listen to what your teachers teaching in class, you’d get to spend a lot less time studying.
ask if you need help! these teachers are qualified for the job, they’re meant to be good at it. so if you don’t understand something, don’t be afraid to ask. and if you’re really too much of a chicken, ask once the class is over or email the teacher. but honestly? half the kids probably aren’t even listening tbh so u do ur thing!
participate in class. actually participating in class will help you so much in recalling the information. it’s a great way to actively revise. you don’t have to be a teachers pet or anything, but if you know the answer, put yourself out there. anyone who judges you simply judges themselves and their inability to speak up.
change up your environment so that you're still interested and excited to learn! you could go to a coffee shop, set up a mini picnic in the woods, go to a library, etc.
use alter egos!! i will never stop recommending this because it really is an amazing tip. either you can create your own alter ego who loves to study and gets high grades, or you could pretend you're rory gilmore or hermione granger!
Tumblr media
revision/ study techniques:
feynman technique: teach it to someone else/ to plushies. try not to look at your notes too much, pretend ur a teacher.
use practice questions/ practice exams! trust me this can be so helpful! try and find past exams and go over them in exam conditions so you can see what u missed later. or, you can get all the info and ask an AI like chatgpt to write questions based on it and go through them!
BLURTING! love this method! basically, you write all the information you know about the topic on one page (optional: set a time limit) and then go over it with a different colour pen and add in what you missed. do this a couple times until you haven't missed anything! - you can do this by creating a mind-map, or literally just scribbling down everything you know.
SQ3R method: survey/ skim over the text, question- make questions on it, read- begin reading to find the answers to the questions, recite- summarise the words in a section in your own words, review- quiz yourself on what you just learnt
organise/ prioritise what you need to study using the traffic light method. first, identify the topics, then highlight them according to these 3 colors: red- struggling a lot/ no idea , yellow- okay ish, need to work on it a bit tho , green- good understanding & confident on the topic.
make associations. this is especially helpful for when you need to memorise things. the thing you need to memorise- link it to stuff that you already know.
⭐️ use mnemonics, songs, raps to remember! a couple years back, my science teacher made us create a rap on osmosis (a biology term). and not even kidding, i still remember the simple definition of what it does because of that rap! so create songs or rap and maybe even make a whole music video on it! trust me, not only is it so fun but it really does help keep the information in your mind!

SURVIVING SCHOOL AIR: here are some tips to staying/ looking pretty and refreshed all day at school bc u and i both know the horrors of school air 🙀 :)
DRINK WATER. stay hydrated - very important. always drink water. this keeps your lips hydrated, face hydrated, and just makes you look a lil less dead.
lip gloss/ lip balm to reapply throughout the day, esp for my girlies with chapped lips! i keep lip balm in my pocket so its always there when needed, but you can also keep it in your locker/ bag/ pencil case.
perfume. you can keep it in your locker/ bag/ pencil case to spray whenever needed and smell sweet and amazing the entire day <3
stop touching your face!! your hands have so much crusty dust and bacteria that can give pimples on your face.
keep hair away from your face. leave it out if you want, but try to make sure it doesn't touch your face too much- it also has tons of crusty musty dusty germs
keep a hairbrush in your locker. listen, i know how messy hair can get during school so keeping it in school is SO helpful to maintain the tidyness and cleanliness
waterproof makeup - if you wear makeup.
sunscreen!! keep. applying. SUNSCREENN!! i'm not going to elaborate further on this point.
Tumblr media
ACCESSORISING YOUR UNIFORM!!
this is for the girlies who have a school uniform! i understand it can be so annoying so to have more fun and feel more confident, ACCESSORIZEE everything as much as you're allowed! here are some ideas!
♡ necklesses
♡ bracelets
♡ bows in your hair
♡ bows in your bag
♡ bows everywhere basically 🎀
♡ decorate your ipad/ pencilcase with stickers
♡ headbands
♡ rings
♡ cute earrings
♡ cute watch
♡ nails
♡ a cute clip!

My Studying Plans; As an Accounting Major!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Before Class
Read the book before lectures: It helps you understand what the teacher is talking about, and how they connect the ideas together.
Look over your homework & notes for references and reminders.
Organize your backpack! Noting better than a clean and organized backpack to set the mood for the day!
Set a Daily Goal! What do you want to achieve today in each class? What concepts do you want to be more knowledgeable about today?
Arrive Early! It gives you extra time to prepare your materials and you’re more likely to stay engaged.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
During Class
Always go! You will miss a concept, and getting a classmate's notes isn’t the same.
Stay fully focused! A proper professor wants you to pass, and your time is all that they want.
A tip for focusing is to pretend that you really care about what the professor is talking about! Pretend it's about your favorite subject.
Ask questions during class! No one will judge you too hard, I promise. It will help you close the gap in between ideas and concepts that you are confused about.
Get a notebook for notes! (Funny statement I know!) I mean get you a notebook that you don't mind writing sloppily in, cause you might have to write fast. My old classmate used to sloppily write in her notebook, and then during study hall she would make it more organized and visually appealing (she was later the salutatorian!)
Ask questions right after class! Usually this is the time where you ask the smaller questions that can be answered in a short amount of time, the teacher doesn’t mind answering these I promise.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After Class
Finding a place to study! Notice what stimulates you to study, is it the food court? A study room? Personally I like to study around other people, and being alone makes me go on my phone.
Visit teachers during office hours! Not only will this give you clarifications, but this will also help you in the long run with developing relationships with your teachers! If they know you, they are likely to give you project extensions, bumped grades, etc.
“It’s harder to fail the students I’ve come to know.”
Schedule! All of the subjects that I will study today and the next day, make it a simple little checklist!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Studying Method
30/15 Method! A method where you study for 30 minutes followed by a 15 minute break! Continue the intervals until study time is over.
Drink water or Matcha! This is a rule for myself, matcha boosts my mood and always makes me feel more productive, so I’ll stay engaged!
When playing music- make sure that it isn’t too loud so that you can think! Make a playlist full of calming instrumentals so that you can stay off your device! Get a cheap pair of pretty headphones.
Strict No Procrastination! Ban your phone from the study area, you will get distracted (you can look during the 15 mins)
Study at most 3 objectives in a studying session!
Study from general topics to specific topics!
Use studying sites! Sites that turn topics into a game work best for me (ex. Kahoot, Quizlet)
Use your hands! Write on a whiteboard or a notebook which gives you a better chance of remembering than typing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After Studying!
Enjoy yourself! Have a light snack, go for a walk, a small 7 minute stretch, and visit the campus gym! Anything to reward your behavior pretty girl!

Study Tip #18
Get into study mode. Do the same rutine before every study session so your brain relates that to studying. Something small, like lighting a candle, organizing pens by color, preparing coffee/tea on your favourite mug, etc.

i’ve been studying for three hours. academic weapon WHO??
and this is coming from a girl who has NO idea how to study, and never has. and whenever she sits down to try, she realises she doesn’t know how to start, and procrastinates and then never does it.
this trick i do was found by a scientist or a psychologist or something —and i can’t find the original study, but if I find it i’ll reblog this post along with the study, probably— and the trick to gaining focus is to literally do nothing. stare at a wall for like, 30–40 seconds and boom. you’re in the zone.
i know. I KNOW.
that and obviously having a vague idea of how to research or revise and you are GOOD TO GO.

5/1/2025
Happy first day of the month! I’m greeting mine by studying for a long quiz tomorrow.
Does anyone have any other studying sites they could recommend for me to use?(preferably one I can upload my notes to and make flash cards). The one I’m currently using is called Gizmo. It works amazingly and has helped me study for a lot of my tests. Even though this works nicely for me, there could still be a better sites out there and it won’t hurt to try.
(Also any good free note taking apps for an iPad would be greatly appreciated too! I’m thinking of taking the old iPad my brother doesn’t use anymore)

Tips for good studying
I must admit that I am shocked at how helpful the post about Toxic romanticization of studying was for you, so I decided to expand it with a second part. Here I will talk a little about examples from my own experience with studying.
1. Take small steps
Even tiny, but keep moving forward. I know it's a very clichéd phrase, but it really works. Especially in the case of very complex theories or extensive material. Then it is worth starting by understanding the basics and expanding this knowledge based on the information that we can best learn first. This way of learning looks like creating increasingly wider circles around one dot (which was our basis).
My practical advice: when I learn very difficult things, I start by finding starting points and writing them down on a small piece of paper (e.g. names or dates). Then I try to combine it in any way possible. When I find connotations, I look for more information about them, which I transfer to a larger piece of paper. This creates charts of varying levels of connection and complexity.
2. Clearly divide time for studying, rest and fun
Of course, studying can be fun, but sometimes we need a moment to relax and do nothing. It's good to divide these moments, which will allow us to either focus completely on work or on rest. Combining learning, especially the kind that is a burden for us, with some form of relaxation makes both activities ineffective. And we still get tired of all this.
My mistake: the countless times I've worked on something and wasn't happy with the results that day. And the evening came, and instead of letting go and resting, I tried to combine "relaxation" with further work. It ended up that I didn't do anything productive, nor did I enjoy a glass of wine or a movie that I watched because she stubbornly tried to do something else.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Stimulants are always harmful
In this case, stimulants can be understood in many ways. It may be coffee, alcohol, nicotine or even illegal things. Culturally, we don't see anything wrong with another cup of coffee when we need to concentrate. Or another cigarette, or champagne when we need to relieve stress. However, it should be remembered that all these substances affect our perception and brain functioning to a greater or lesser extent. And isn't it great and healthy to know that we can achieve a lot without these boosters?
My weakness: as I mentioned earlier about a glass of wine, It's nice, but it doesn't help me study. However, I read undemanding books with a wine in bed for pure pleasure.
4. Take care of your neurons
First of all, you need to understand that our brain is responsible for studying. And the brain is an organ and our will is not always enough for its proper functioning. We need to take care of our neurons so that they continue to develop and expand their connections. How to do it? In addition to maintaining overall health, you also need to get enough sleep, have access to fresh air and sun, discover and experience new things and take care of your diet.
My tip: discovering something new every day seems to be an extremely difficult challenge, but it may just be tiny things done in a different way. Changing the place helps me gain a fresh perspective when studying. Sometimes I go to another room, sit by the open window, move everything to the floor or go outside.

If you have any examples of mistakes, good advice or similar problems with studying, you can share them below. There is nothing better than exchanging experiences and having a joint discussion that can bring new solutions to problems!

Studying Tips for Littles
I don't know if anyone else is in this situation, but where I live we're going through the exams season. This can be a stressing period for most people, mainly little ones, so here you have a few tips that will hopefully make it less icky ^^
Talk to your stuffies! I cannot stress this one enough, I've been using it since I was bodily little and it works extremely well. The stuffies actually told me, they love to hear you talk about what you're studying. You can act as if you were a teacher and they were the students, I'm sure they'll have lots of fun with that :D If words are hard, hugging your stuffies for comfort will also help. Let them see what you're doing tho! They really like learning new stuff<3
Do worksheets Not the boring worksheets for old people, but the cool fun ones! If you can't find any that you like, maybe you can get a friend to make some for you? If asked with time and given a topic, I can make them too! ^^
Ask for help If you don't understand a point, there's nothing wrong with asking a teacher or a classmate. If you have a caregiver (or, really, any close friend you're comfortable regressing around), you can ask them to ask you questions or act like a teacher for you. There's no shame in needing others, mainly if you're struggling<3
Take care of yourself Drink water, take breaks and eat healthy. To study better, you need energy, and you won't get it unless you remember to do these. Don't forget to sleep either, if you're well-rested you'll feel a lot better<3
Take pretty notes Use colorful markers and glittery pens, make drawings and schemes, fill your notes with little stickers, anything you can think of. Information will stick better if you have fun while studying it, plus who doesn't love a pretty notebook?
Reward yourself For example, you could have a piece of candy every time you learn a page. Or watch a chapter of your favorite show whenever you finish an unit. Or maybe, play videogames for a few minutes after each scheme you're over with. It doesn't matter what you do, as long as it works for you<3
See what works best for you Ultimately, no tip is universal. Do the things you like best, and try to have fun meanwhile! Studying isn't the best thing in the world, but I'm sure you can make it a fun (or not too boring) activity ^^
Good luck with your exams little one!! I'm sure you'll do an amazing job<33 I'm rooting for you!!!

📑📚 ACE YOUR EXAMS 📚📑
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a guide for people who have exams coming up. It consists of what to do if you want 100% on your upcoming exams, study tips, and more!
Tumblr media
Study tips:
Check this masterlist by @merakinotes and also this post+ masterlist by @areistotle it has everything you’ll ever need.
Bank of questions / past papers study method: you can create your own questions on Quizlet or any online quiz maker or use past papers/ revision resources.
Study everyday. If your exam is even a month away, that’s good because it means you don’t have to study hours everyday, but you can at least keep a goal to study 30 mins a day or to learn/ understand/ memorise a new thing part of that topic every day.
Feynman technique. Basically pretend as if you’re the teacher and teach the topic to someone/ something (ex a stuffed animal)
Record yourself talking. When you’re revising, record yourself talking about some of the stuff so you can listen to it later when you’re unable to study.
Visual learning!! Personally, I love this one. If you’re studying something like science, history, etc, then draw pictures! Draw pictures to better help you understand a word/ concept. (Example: in science I couldn’t remember the whole definition of combustion so I just drew a stickman image of the atom and the oxygen and then those 2 chemically combined)
Tumblr media
During the exam:
Never turn the exam in early!! Are you finished? Then re read the exam and re take the exam. Double check, triple check etc your answers. Keep looking through your answers again and again, step by step. Only give the test in at the very end.
Watch the clock! Don’t spend lots of time on one question trying to figure it out. Look at the time and make sure you still have enough to complete all the questions and maybe also recheck them.
If you don’t completely understand a question/ it’s more complicated: skip it and go to the next question. Come back to that harder question later.
Tumblr media
Manifesting:
Remember: the 100/100 grade is already yours. You just need to claim it!
Affirmations: you can create your own set of customised affirmations or you can use THIS affirmation list that I made for high grades
Subliminal: I’ve made a playlist on YouTube with all my favourite academic subliminals. You can also search up 100/100 grades or full marks in tests subliminals.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
More resources:
(These are just to further help you if these tips do not help. Remember that watching videos or reading about studying/ study tips is not studying. It’s procrastinating. Consume these in moderation.)

Some tips for surviving uni (especially for people with bad mental health) from someone who had depression during the first 1.5 years of uni and recently finished their thesis:
1. If you are able to cook, learn easy and cheap one-pot recipes that you can make several portions of - like pasta. Take lunch with you and if possible reheat it (many unis provide microwaves). Hot lunch is so much better than cold, especially in winter and can really lift your mood. Try to make the food you enjoy eating (it may seem obvious, but it's easy to forget it). Avoid only eating sandwiches if you have a long day.
2. Talk to your professors. If you know you won't be able to finish project on time the best thing you can do is talk to your professor. Often they are pretty chill about it and will let you deliver your project a week or two later. If you want to take a photo of something and don't know if it's allowed you can also ask.
3. Talk to older students. They know many things - which professors are chill and reasonable, old exams photos and notes. Sometimes they know where you can print something for a reasonable price or eat cheap.
4. Take notes and share them with the other students. Also ask them for their notes. Don't be afraid to ask for help when you don't understand something and offer help if you can give it.
5. Find a place to study. If you can't focus in your room, try a library or any other space your uni offers to study. If you can't focus on it, try parallel studying with other people. Just sit in one room, each person learning their own thing. You will feel more motivation to study if there is another person around you that will notice if you start scrolling your phone insted of studying
6. Use scihub and anne's archive to get to the literature you need. No, it's not stealing.
7. Sleep! It's very important to have a decent sleeping schedule.
8. If you don't pass an exam it's not the end of the world. You always have a second chance and if this also doesn't work out, go to your professor and ask for another one. You won't always get it but some of them appreciate the effort and will let you rewrite the exam for the third time.
9. Always have pasta and some easy instant sauce at home. And some ready-made meals. If you have a freezer, use it. Don't rely on them but in case of an emergency you will not be left with nothing to eat
