Since Koa was about 2 he’s LOVED dandelions. He will go out of his way to pick them, even in the hardest of places where they sometimes grow. He will always give me the first one to make a wish and then he will make a wish himself. Mostly he always wishes for the same thing “that everyone in the world would be vegetarian”. It’s the sweetest wish, awhile ago he decided he couldn’t eat animals. He’s a massive empath. He cries in animal movies, he cries if he sees other children hurting bugs, he cries if he sees a dog or cat here in Bali sick or hurt {which is a lot}. His love for animals and their feelings is so strong. It’s his choice and we support him fully. We make sure he’s getting protein from all other sources that he needs. He is strong and healthy and happy. Even though his wish will never come true I can nurture him to make the best decisions for him and his soul. He also makes me take a photo of the dandelion and send it to my mum, his nanny to make a wish too. There is something magical about dandelions if you choose to see it. Or you could just see weeds. Looking at my feed at the moment, I seem to be on a blue buzz 🐝 right now. Just saved these forget-me-nots from the overgrown nettles (ouch) on the small strip of wasteland outside our back fence. I’ve left plenty to help self-seed for next year and for the bees and insects to play with. They came from nowhere, so I’m excited to see them develop among the bluebells, Queen Anne’s lace, nettles, dead nettles, hogweed, bramble and grasses. Usually I have to go up the lane to forage them. More treasure from this morning’s forage, scarlet pimpernel. It’s growing in abundance on near the field edges so I plucked a healthy plant to pot up for the garden. They’re pretty invasive apparently but our garden is over run with chickweed in any case, so I don’t mind so much. The scientific name of this plant means “adornment of the fields” which is very fitting, but also known as “poor man’s weather-glass” owing to the flowers closing up when it becomes overcast. Koa wants to donate a percentage of anything he sells to a charity of choice. Now living in Bali we see some VERY sad things around animals and living conditions and babies. There are also a LOT of issues around environment and pollution and trash! We already support two charities here in Bali that help underprivileged people all over Bali. They do amazing work and very reputable and deserving! We also donate to the charities that help sterilise and look after street dogs and cat shelters etc. But we would LOVE to know what charities you support or love?
