I did a weird thing with a crystal cluster I picked up at an antiques shop and a broken key bow given to me by a local metal detecting chap. I turned the decorative key head into a bail for the crystal and carefully drilled a hole for it underwater. They work quite well together I think! This necklace has already been snaffled from my shop, but I wanted to say - looky, looky, there are some of my handmade ceramic beads. Finished! Hurrah. I'm so pleased with this contemplation crystal because it's pretty much bubble free, which is no mean feat when you look at how much air could be lurking in that amazing sponge like mushroom. Morel mushrooms are highly prized among mushroom hunters and quite rare around these parts, so I was very lucky to find this one growing in my own garden! The bioresin crystal has a lovely smoky quartz hue to it which comes from the natural dyes in the wispy beard mosses that I've used. This fantasy forest floor scene also includes tiny magic carpet clover heads, heather, fern, wheat ear, dried poppy seeds, oak moss, eucalyptus seed and sea lavender. A little microcosm to admire in your sacred space or on your wiccan altar. Thank you to everyone who sent such heartfelt condolences on the passing of Eva this week. It really helped to receive such kindness during a very difficult time. Alongside taking Jeanie on lots of long woodland walks, I'm also back in the studio finding solace in creatively distracting myself. These hand made ceramic rose earrings have been queued on my desk for a couple of weeks, waiting to make their way in the world. Making my own ceramic beads has to be one of the most rewarding developments in my creative journey this year. I'm so excited that the clay worked in the mold I took of the vintage lucite bead and they fired in the kiln just perfectly (thanks to @little_mouse_pottery ). And the glazes I used are a reminder that Spring is here and it is beautiful. Looking at my feed at the moment, I seem to be on a blue buzz 🐝 right now. Just saved these forget-me-nots from the overgrown nettles (ouch) on the small strip of wasteland outside our back fence. I’ve left plenty to help self-seed for next year and for the bees and insects to play with. They came from nowhere, so I’m excited to see them develop among the bluebells, Queen Anne’s lace, nettles, dead nettles, hogweed, bramble and grasses. Usually I have to go up the lane to forage them. Thinking I might make some more rings now this one is just listed in my shop. It’s a part of jewellery making I’m yet to thoroughly explore and I had lots of fun making this one.
