Prince Christian of Denmark's 18th Birthday Gala
Tumblr media
The Danish Royal Court announced today that as part of Prince Christian's 18th birthday celebrations there will be a gala dinner! It will take place on Sunday, October 15th at 5:00pm local time.
The Queen hosts a gala dinner at Christianborg Palace, to which a selection of the country’s youth organizations as well as young people who have made their mark in the worlds of sport, arts and culture are invited, among others. In addition, The Royal House of Denmark will invite up to 200 young people from the realm to take part in the celebration in cooperation with the country’s municipalities, as each of Denmark’s municipalities as well as Greenland and the Faroe Islands will have the opportunity to select two 18-year-olds to participate in the gala dinner.
Tumblr media
After the original announcement, I was unsure if the gala would be white tie like Crown Prince Frederik's 18th birthday in 1986 and Queen Margrethe II's in 1958 or if their would be foreign royals present but we've since found out that both are happening!

Happy 47th birthday to Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, Duchess of Västergötland!
Born on 14 July 1977, Victoria Ingrid Alice Désirée is the heir apparent to the Swedish throne, as the eldest child of King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden. If she ascends to the throne, she would be Sweden's fourth queen regnant (after Margaret, Christina and Ulrika Eleonora) and the first since 1720. Her inheritance is secured by Sweden's 1979 Act of Succession, the first law in Western Europe to adopt royal absolute primogeniture.
She was baptised at the Royal Palace Church on 27 September 1977. Her godparents included Crown Prince Harald of Norway (later king of Norway), and Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands (later queen of the Netherlands, 1980-2013).
Victoria was made crown princess on 1 January 1980 by the 1979 amendment to the Act of Succession of 1810 (Successionsordningen).
On 24 February 2009, it was confirmed that permission had been granted and that Victoria would marry Daniel Westling in the summer of 2010. The wedding date was set in Stockholm Cathedral for 19 June 2010, the 34th anniversary of her parents' marriage. The couple have two children: Princess Estelle Silvia Ewa Mary, Duchess of Östergötland (12) and Prince Oscar Carl Olof, Duke of Skane (8)
Often referred to as the "Godmother of Europe, Crown Princess Victoria is the godmother of eighteen children including: Prince Constantine Alexios of Greece and Denmark; Catharina-Amalia, Princess of Orange; Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway; Prince Christian of Denmark; Princess Eléonore of Belgium; Princess Katharina of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha; Princess Leonore, Duchess of Gotland; and Prince Alexander, Duke of Södermanland.

Alexandra was the third daughter of Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna and Prince Alfred. Known as 'Sandra,' she was somewhat less-famous than her elders sisters Marie of Romania and Victoria Melita. Gottfried was her eldest child and only surviving son. He married Princess Margarita of Greece and Denmark, eldest sister of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

Princess Alice of Battenberg and Tsar Nicholas II of Russia. About 1901.
Nicholas was married to Alexandra, who was the youngest sister of Alice's mother, Victoria. Alexandra and Victoria were born Princesses of Hesse and by Rhine and granddaughters of Queen Victoria via her second daughter, Alice.
In 1903 Alice would marry Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark, a cousin of Nicholas' and her last born child would become Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II. Alice was the grandmother of King Charles III.
Though congenitally deaf, Alice learned to read lips and speak English and German, and also later Greek, the language of her new homeland.

Alexander, Crown Prince of Yugoslavia
Born: July 17, 1945, Claridge's, Mayfair, London Physique: Average Build Height: 6′ 1″
Alexander, Crown Prince of Yugoslavia, is the head of the House of Karađorđević, the former royal house of the defunct Kingdom of Yugoslavia and its predecessor the Kingdom of Serbia. Alexander is the only child of King Peter II and his wife, Princess Alexandra of Greece and Denmark. He held the position of crown prince in the Democratic Federal Yugoslavia for the first four-and-a-half months of his life, until the declaration of the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia later in November 1945, when the monarchy was abolished. In public he claims the crowned royal title of "Alexander II Karađorđević" as a pretender to the throne.
The twice married with three sons, Alexander is known for his support of monarchism and his humanitarian work. He's another royal I spotted at His Majesty Charles III's coronation that I now want to do.
