You guys rlly don't realise how much knowledge is still not committed to the internet. I find books all the time with stuff that is impossible to find through a search engine- most people do not put their magnum opus research online for free and the more niche a skill is the less likely you are to have people who will leak those books online. (Nevermind all the books written prior to the internet that have knowledge that is not considered "relevant" enough to digitise).
Whenever people say that we r growing up with all the world's knowledge at our fingertips...it's not necessarily true. Is the amount of knowledge online potentially infinite? Yes. Is it all knowledge? No. You will be surprised at the niche things you can discover at a local archive or library.

hey so how come lawyers like so much PAPER?
sincerely, the person in the copy center who has to print all these goddamn binders
Man, it is the worst. I grew up file clerking for my dad and it was so terrible that I decided I would never be a lawyer. SO much paperwork. Ugh. Horrible.
But also, if you're in trial, you want all of the information in the entire case at your fingertips, and you want to know exactly where every piece of info is--which means that you have it hard copy, because a laptop can glitch or lag or crash but paper abides.
Also, in a lot of circumstances, you need a physical item in order to admit something as evidence, because the court physically marks it with a sticker label. So you print photos, documents...even for video files, you have it on a disc or USB that the court can put its little evidence sticker on. And then, depending on the type of trial, all that evidence may go with a jury into a jury room to look over, and you don't really want to give them a wholeass laptop, because that's just asking for improper non-evidence information to be considered.
And if you're feeling like a jackass when complying with discovery demands, you can give the requested information on physical paper and that's fulfilling the demand (unless it was specifically for digital format) but it's not searchable in the way that a PDF would be--you can't control+F for the info you want, you have to read through reams of paper. Which you should do, for thoroughness, but...it's time consuming. So you can play petty little games and give people hardcopy to make their lives marginally more difficult.
Ultimately though, lawyers just really love deforestation. Fuck them trees.

goth Jewish apparel now live at Threadless! thank you to everyone who helped with my POD search - i chose this one based on a combination of quality, the company being long-established, pricing & profit margins for artists, & the ability to have a static shop with products available 24/7. nobody hits every single mark at 100% but i'm hoping to be pretty satisfied with this switch. reblogs greatly appreciated!
[ID: left - a grey t-shirt with the WE WILL OUTLIVE THEM anti-fascist Jewish monsters (featuring the Ziz and Leviathan tearing a swastika flag apart under Yiddish text) print in black ink. right - a black t-shirt with the DEATH HAMSA design (a clawed hamsa with a crying eye, thorns, and the Hebrew word for death)]

…when time is linear. Feels bad, man.
I may have gotten myself into a pickle with print prospects and deadlines. Society6 seems to have eaten all of my old files in the snafu of the last few years and I will need to write to support to see if they can be recovered. In the meantime, I’m waiting to be accepted at inprnt. The additional worry is if the print quality with s6 has declined in this time. I would hate to have subpar prints floating out into the world.
I don’t know what I expected.

The Witch 🪄
She was with a rare gift of magic born, but never knew her true origins. She in a secret forest grew, where nature's secrets and the arcane from an old crone she learnt. She skill'd in arts of divination, enchantment, and illusion was, but also had a thirst for darker and more forbidden lore.
She ancient books and relics sought, and delv'd into the mysteries of life and death, of fate and chaos, of light and shadow. She a potent and enigmatic sorceress became, in darkness and in mystery wrapp'd. She fear'd and honour'd was by those who of her being knew. She had no name, no friends, no foes. She only as the witch was known.

Apologies if you’ve talked about this before, but did you start TPOH knowing you’d want it printed? What kinda prep or design choices did you make to make the page numbers and dimensions print compatible? I keep thinking about dabbling in a webcomic but I balk at trying to figure out what I’d need to do to make it printable…
when I started TPoH I had no intention of printing, and had to learn all of that on the fly (in fact, you can tell! the first couple of pages of TPoH were at a much smaller scale than the now standard A4 size that I draw at). I also had to change some things in the comic's printed version due to potential issues with copyright; as the online comic makes no profit, I am still able to have lyrics from the Muppet Movie's iconic song I'm Going to Go Back There Someday, but in print Hero sings the very public domain I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles instead. As it is I still prioritise making TPoH free and as easily accessible as possible, because that matters to me much more!
My advice to you is to focus on the comic itself. The story matters more than printing the story. If you priorisitise the idea of publishing and printing it will blinker you and hamper creative decisions, and it is entirely the wrong thing to focus on in terms of spirit! If it comes to that point you will learn, but for now just work on and listen to the story (and draw it at 300dpi... just in case!)
