Hey gang, time for Crowdsourced Brainstorming Time

for reasons, I've got to write Mabel and Bill watching (at least large chunks of) a full Color Critters episode, which means I need something more in-depth than the quick snips & summaries I've done for previous episodes, and I feel like brainstorming a kids' cartoon plot is the kind of thing where twenty brains are better than one.

The goal: episode plotlines that sounds like something you'd find in an 80s Care Bears or Rainbow Brite episode. We're going for "run-of-the-mill episode," not a plot you'd expect in a pilot or a finale or an exciting two-parter special event

the premise of the show: anthropomorphic animals are defending colors, which are magically tied to different concepts. Example: the color green and friendship: when friends are fighting it kills nearby green things and if green things are destroyed it negatively impacts nearby friendships. it's for kindergarteners and teaches simple life lessons that people in the 80s thought were a good idea.

Good guys, the colors they're in charge of, and what that gives them power over:

Prisma the Rainbow Fairy - rainbows, white, light - she's basically just Rainbow Brite. Everyone else's boss. Unofficially the main character.

Glory the Unicorn - pink - no particular domain, just Prisma's second-in-command and bestie. A bit of a worrywart.

Leo Proud - Red - life, exercise, playing (especially active play like sports)

Teddy Tender - orange - health/healing, fun & enjoyable things (less active play like board games)

Sunny Cat - yellow - sunlight, self-confidence, personal strength/power/assertiveness. she and Leo are cousins

Love Bunny - Green - friendship, love, nature

Howell Wolf - Blue - creativity, storytelling, magic (he's a wizard, he's got a wizard hat). he's besties with Leo

Misty the Dolphin - indigo - serenity/harmony, cooperation. She can't travel most places due to being a dolphin and gets used in well-intended but dated episodes about accommodating your friends with disabilities.

Bad guys:

Duke of Smog - the Big Bad, floating cloud of purple-gray smog with red angry eyes. He only takes an active role for special occasions like the pilot episode and season finales; otherwise the other characters frequently reference him but he's rarely seen. Wants to destroy color and goodness. No Heart mixed with that one creep in the Rainbow Brite pilot two-parter, what was with that dude anyway, they built him up so much as a villain and then bam he doesn't even survive to be part of the actual show

Serpent Grey - the second-in-command and most frequently seen bad guy. snake that has a mane for some reason. Bosses around the rank-and-file bad guys, cowardly dumbass who thinks he's a courageous genius. Shreeky mixed with G1 Starscream if he wasn't trying to overthrow megatron. If this show actually existed in the real world and I had watched it at age 7 then Serpent would be my favorite character and I'd probably have shipped him with the Duke.

a big fuzzy tarantula I haven't named yet - well-meaning bumbling dumbass who doesn't seem to realize he's one of the bad guys and is just happy to be included. Think Lurky.

a bee I also haven't named yet - the most important thing to know about him is that in season 1 he was a bad guy but then a special interest group angrily wrote the TV station to say that bees are so important to nature and agriculture and it was shameful for a children's cartoon to teach kids that bees are bad guys and so in season 2 he inexplicably joined the good guys and it took half the season for them to air an episode showing he switched sides because the other bad guys were bullying him and the good guys were nice.

The Rainbows Return!

We’re proudly welcoming all the colors of the rainbow around Fort Pinta!

We Present With Pride…

…Another week of fun at the festival! This week we brought a piece of the rainbow down to Jorvik. Fort Pinta has been beautifully dressed in all the colors of the Rainbow, and colorful ribbons and decorations are available in the shop outside the disco. Two new sets have also been added to the shop down at the beach! And speaking of the beach - Shibby Tim has returned! He is back - and is a little bit salty over Ben “stealing” his best friend Bruce from him… 

Colorful Activities!

From one of the look-out points of Fort Pinta now stretches a magical rainbow bridge. At the end you won’t find a pot of gold, but our classical Rainbow Race! Two laps through the clouds are awaiting anyone who wants to take part.

Of course, no summer festival is complete without our hourly rainbow parade! At the top of every hour, the Bobcats kick off on a proud parade just outside of Moorland, and ride to Fort Pinta, before finishing it off with some epic dancing at the disco! Everyone is welcome to join the fun!

Returning Magical Horses!

Our rainbow horses from previous years are now back! They are standing by the Fort Pinta disco, ready to party with the riders of Jorvik.

After requesting deletion, a confirmation email will be sent to the associated address. The deletion can be undone within 72 hours by simply logging in to the account again.

A Small Tweak!

We've cleaned up a bit in the Riding Arena! The jumps are no longer permanently placed in the arena, making space for future props and races. Linn's races have also gotten a nice visual update, making them more fresh and fun!

Removed Costs

We’ve updated two features in the game to no longer be purchasable with Star Coins. The first is regarding the horse trailer - it is now only possible to pay for the trailer with Jorvik Shillings! Gone are the days of frustrations over misclicks… The second change is the cost for changing Home Stable. It now doesn’t cost anything! Simply walk up to the door of the preferred Home Stable, and confirm the move. Simple!

How old is Indigo?

Yep, we're doing this.

So what do we know about Indigo's life? Well actually quite a lot! Thanks to Ylil, we got to learn a lot about this guy's life.

Firstly, Indigo is definitely over 18, I think we can all agree the manchild is indeed an adult. I'm not going to need proof to convince you all of that fact, hopefully.

Indigo spent his childhood in Stratoverse, specifically on the land of awareness. There, he was taught all about clouds and weather, until he eventually got magic.

He left right after getting magic, or at least it's implied that he did, as turning Indigo drove him over the edge and really affected his self worth, possibly due to increased bullying. He even says it outright that being Indigo was a reason for "being laughed out of [his] own country"

So he left after getting magic! Which should be around 12 years old, probably ranging from 10 to 15. Stratoversian being more powerful in general, and Indigo not being shown as weaker than average, we can deduce that he got his magic at around that age, and not later. He may just have left without magic and died at sea if he hadn't got his magic at the same time as his peers.

Alright, that's great and all, but for now all I've established is that Indigo left Stratoverse as a young teen and is now older than 18 in gloomverse. How is that theorizing about his age?? Is what you may ask.

Worry not, dear reader, for I have just the thing:

Queen Virga of Stratoverse, current strongest magician in the world.

How does she relate to Indigo you ask? Well...

Indigo doesn't recognize her.

That's pretty telling actually. And given Indigo's track record, it seems improbable that he is feinging ignorance to seems inconspicuous. Possible, but not probable. So the rest of that theory lays on Indigo being too dumb to pretend to be dumb.

Anyway

Why is it important that Indigo doesn't recognize her? Well as a stratoversian, Indigo was given classes about Stratoverse and weather. Since the country relies on brainwashing the kids to love their country and clouds, knowing WHO the (current) queen is and what she looks like sounds important. I know Indigo right now isn't a model student, but in the past he just might have been! He tried hard to belong, and the stuff you learn as a kid isn't so easily washed away.

Hence this: Virga wasn't the queen at the time that Indigo lived in Stratoverse.

That's cool and all, but now we have the same problem as with Indigo: How old is Virga???

Well, she's actually easier to figure out.

I'm going to assume Stratoverse/Yellow is reasonable enough not to let children be in charge, and that a person needs to be 18 or older to fight for the royalty's titles.

I mean, the last time they did, bad things happened...

Prisma was considered to all, as a respectable, and beautiful magician, and she took the job at a surprisingly young age. The exact age is unknown, except that she was 'nearly an adult' when she came into power.

So, Virga is older than 18. yay

But she has been in office for quite some time now! At the very least three years if the world leaders' meeting is every year. More if it's espaced of two, three, etc, years. Since the conference takes a couple of weeks, it would make sense if it wasn't yearly.

Cirrus, having no reason to be present unless it's a former meeting, punched prez during a conference. Virga mentions it was forever ago, which could be just smack talk, or hint that it wasn't even during the last conference. Nim is a "better choice than the last", so she wasn't there at the previous conference, and the last princess was 'chosen' by Virga, aka came into the position while Virga was already queen.

She's at least 21 if the conference is every year and she became queen at 18. That's the lowest age possible for her.

But Virga has very strong mommy energy, as seen here:

I'm not saying those children are her own, but she definitely watched them grow up, so we can add a +10 years to her counter. 28 years old as a bare minimum.

Alright! It's safe to say Virga is at least 28 years old, in the best case scenario. In a more realistic one, she would have took the princess title at 20 and the queen title a bit later, she seems to be quite experienced too, so let's say she's in her middle-end thirties.

However there's a very important piece of information I haven't considered yet...

Stratoversian can live older than average, and look fresh even in old age (just look at the king who's supposedly at least 80 years old!!). So despite looking rather young, Virga could actually be in her 60s and we would have no idea.

Back to Indigo! Comparing him to Virga leaves us a couple options!

Indigo is the same age as Virga

I'll consider "same age" with a 2 years margin.

While it adds Angst to think Virga was one of his bullies, I think it's more likely that they never met each other. Stratoverse is still a big country, it's unlikely everyone knows everyone (Nim and Cirrus didn't know each other as children for example). Being the same age as Virga, Indigo's age is ranging from 26 to 40.

Indigo is older than Virga

Oh man, he's old in that case... Older than 30 at the VERY LEAST! Because Virga being 28 is the best possible scenario.

Indigo is younger than Virga

This one is actually very interesting... Because it means Virga wasn't queen when Indigo was still in stratoverse. If she took the throne at 18 and Indigo left at 12.... Then their age gap can only be 6 years. Otherwise, Virga would be queen before Indigo leaves. Of course, the later Virga takes the throne, the larger the age gap can be. Taking the throne at 24 means Indigo can be 12 years younger, and so and so....

So in this scenario, Indigo's age remain unclear.... Yet this is the most likely scenario.

It really all depends on Virga's age tho... The best guess for her age being late thirties, I think it's safe to assume — after everything I've presented you — that Indigo himself is in his early thirties.

TL;DR: Indigo is at least 30 yo and this post has been in my drafts for almost 2 years now.

I also really like dress up games and I really wanna learn more about fashion.

I like hello kitty (The best character is my melo, DUH!), Bratz, Barbie, I really liked Rainbow high but they were like... doing a lot at once for me.

My favorite two dress up games are Life Makeover (Okay it's actually number 1) and Suit U (I love it but it is so god damn uniquely greedy) Everskies is fun too but I find it hard to find clothes you REALLY want and it can get samey, for me at least.

I'll be making a DR self lore and master list... naybe... soon? If you've seen my first post you know I want things to be relaxed here. I guess with previous side blogs I got anxious? I guess? But I'll update this paragraph here once or if I do that to a link.

I'll be doing a lot of DR self vanity posting and hey, if you wanna vanity post in my ask box go ahead if you'd like, being vain is very fun. But don't send real pictures of yourself, I think that's fair.

Ever Realm Part 7

A Way Back,

Sofia walked in the hall of the castle heading to Roland's study to find him talking to Baileywick. She smiled and walked over to him. Ronald was at his desk signing some papers and documents.

"Morning dad! What are you doing?" She asked her father. She noticed that he had been looking a little stressed out lately. It was the price of being a king.

"There's been a couple of theft lately in the past few days. It only happens at night and the only thing that's left is a black feather." King Roland told Sofia. 

"A black feather?" Sofia murmured to herself. It couldn't be Wormwood, Cedric's raven. He's locked up in jail with Prisma when Vor tried to take over the kingdom. So who could it be?

Roland got out of his chair and stood up and walked around the desk to Sofia. "I know that this is hard but want you to stay in the castle until this whole matter is taken care of. I've already told Amber and James about it as well. You can still play with your friends but when it's starts to get dark, I want you to come straight home." He told her, placing his hand on Sofia's shoulder. Sofia nodded.

"Okay, dad." 

Roland smiled and walked out with Baileywick to discuss other matters, leaving Sofia to wonder to herself. What was causing the robberies? She headed to Elora's room to check in on her. 

"Hey, Elora, are you in?" Sofia asked about to knock on the door when she heard Elora let out a scream.

"Not again! Why does this keep happening!?"

Sofia immediately opened the door to see what was wrong.

"Are you okay? I heard you scream!" the princess exclaimed. Sofia blinked in surprise when she saw Elora sitting on her bed, looking completely frazzled. The bed sheets were messily tossed all over, hanging over the side of the bed. She was surrounded by many jewels, gold coins, jewelry, and other shiny trinkets, almost like a nest. Elora quickly looked up when she noticed Sofia had barged into her room.

"It's not what it looks like, I swear!"

"Really? Then what's all of this?" Sofia frowned, questioning her. She didn't want to jump to conclusions, but the evidence was plain just as day. "Where did you even get all of this jewelry?" Elora wouldn't steal from them, would she? Why would she, if she helped drove those monsters away from the festival. Something wasn't adding up.

"I don't know! It's been happening for a couple of days now. I wake up and find myself in them." Elora insisted. "I am not a thief!"

Sofia walked over to her and took Elora's hands. "I don't think you did it. We'll get to bottom of this. Let's go talk to Mr. Cedric about this. He might be able to help." Elora nodded before paused.

"What about the, um..." and gestured towards the treasure pile on her bed. 

"We won't tell anyone for now, but we need to catch the thief tonight. Hide it under the bed and I'll tell the cleaning maids not to come in." Sofia told her. Elora quickly put the shiny trinkets under the bed, getting rid of the evidence. When she was about to get up, Elora noticed a black feather, lying on the floor and picked it up. 

"Sofia, look at this." She showed it to the princess. Sofia's eyes widened, seeing it.

"A black feather? The same as the one's left behind from the robberies." She spoke.

The two quickly headed towards Cedric's workshop, walking up the spiral stairs. Sofia knocked on the sorcerer's door.

"Mr. Cedric, are you in? We need to talk to you!" 

There was a loud boom, which sounded like an explosion, startling the two girls. Elora slowly opened the door, seeing a dark cloud of smoke. As it cleared, Cedric was standing in front of them, covered in soot and goo, coughing. Sofia and Elora quickly ran over to him.

"Are you alright?" Sofia asked him, concerned. Cedric grabbed a cloth from his desk and wiped off the grime from his face.

"I really need to get a sign, so I won't be disturbed." Cedric replied.

"Here. Let me help you a little." Elora spoke and she pointed her staff at Cedric. The goo and soot instantly disappeared, from his robes and clothes, cleaning Cedric up.

"Wow, that's a handy trick." Cedric spoke, smiling a little.

"Thanks." Elora smiled back and looked around the workshop. "So, this is your workshop, where the magic happens?"

"Yes. Shall I give you a tour?" Cedric asked her. Elora's eyes widen a little and blushed.

"Um..." She couldn't speak, getting a little tongue tied. "Maybe another time? There's something important we need to tell you."

"Mr. Cedric, there's a reason why we're here. It's about the robberies that's been happening lately." Sofia spoke.

"I've heard about it." Cedric said. "What is it that you need?"

Sofia and Elora told Cedric what had happened, and the treasure pile found this morning and showed him the feather that they had found in Elora's room. Cedric took it from Elora.

"Sounds like your thief might be a bird. That, or maybe you sleepwalk?"

"I don't sleepwalk." Elora told him.

"And how do you know that?" Cedric pointed out.

"I just know that I don't." Elora told him.

"And why Elora? The feather? It doesn't make sense." Sofia asked him.

Elora was silent for a moment, thinking to herself. "I think a have a plan, if you two will help me."

"What is it?" Sofia asked her.

"Would you two stay in my room tonight and watch over me in my sleep? Maybe we'll catch whoever is causing this." Elora told them.

"Okay." Sofia smiled. Cedric nodded.

Nighttime had fallen and the three had set up a trap to catch the culprit. Cedric had conjured up a magical cage to catch anyone other than them who comes into the room. One time, Baileywick had come in to check in on everyone. Elora quickly moved him out of the way before he was caught. Before everyone turned in, Sofia noticed that Elora had gotten up and started to walk towards the window.

"Elora, what are you doing?" She asked her.

"I always sleep with the window open. It makes me feel better." Elora told her. 

"Oh." Sofia blinked. Elora headed back to her bed and laid down. 

"Good night, you two." Elora told Sofia and Cedric. Sofia and Cedric took turns watching over Elora over the night. Hours had seemed to have gone by and nothing had happened. Eventually, Sofia and Cedric both had fallen asleep. Then everyone was wakened up suddenly by a loud bang when the magical cage had slammed down to the floor. Elora quickly shot up, grabbing her staff. She casted a light spell, illuminating the room. Sofia, Cedric and Elora quickly went over to the cage and Cedric lifted it up with his wand. Something dark quickly darted out and flew around the room and landed on the bed canopy. 

"A crow?" Sofia wondered. The crow squawked and only Sofia can hear what the bird was saying. 

"Mama! I've found you!" It quickly flew at Elora, flying straight at her. It crashed into her chest, nuzzling Elora.

"At least we know that you're friendly. That's a good thing." Elora smiled.

"It definitely seems to know you." Cedric pointed out. The crow continued to squawk.

"I've been looking everywhere for you! Everyone said that you were dead, but I didn't believe them!"

"So, what's your name?" Sofia asked the bird. The crow blinked at her in surprise.

"Wait a minute, you can understand me? And I can understand you! How?" They asked. Sofia nodded, smiling.

"My amulet lets me talk to animals." She told them before she stepped back when she noticed the crow eyeing her necklace.

"It sparkles and shimmers with delight. I must have it for my nest!" The crow quickly flew at Sofia, trying to grab her amulet. Cedric quickly stood in between them, swatting the bird away from her. Elora quickly placed her fingers to her lips and whistled. The crow immediately stopped, hovering over Sofia and Cedric and flew back towards Elora, landing on her head.

"Sorry, Mama. I couldn't help it."

"How did you know to do that?" Cedric asked her. Elora shrugged.

"Instinct, I guess." She told him. Sofia stepped out from behind Cedric, covering her amulet.

"It's okay, but who are you and how do you know Elora?" She asked.

"My name is Koa. And who is this Elora? This is my mom! We've known each other since I was a baby bird! She found me!" 

"He says his name is Koa." Sofia told Elora and Cedric.

"Koa." Elora spoke, repeated the name. A memory flashed in front of her eyes of herself when she was little. She had found a baby bird with a broken wing and nursed it back to health. It had stayed by her side, never leaving her. Elora's eyes widen, looking at the bird in her hands, immediately remembering. She hugged the bird.

"Koa! I remember now! My baby!" She cried. Koa squawked, happily, nuzzling her face. "How could I ever forget you!"

Sofia and Cedric watched the two, smiling to themselves. 

"Let's tell dad that we caught the culprit and return back everything that was stolen." Sofia spoke.

"That's sounds great." Elora replied before she glanced down at the bird in her hands. "Wait a minute..."

"What is it?" Cedric asked her.

"If Koa found me all the way here then maybe he knows where my home is. Alereus. He can lead me back."

Sofia and Cedric eyes widen. They had already grown attached to the elven woman, since she came to them, particularly, Cedric. He had to admit it he had grown rather fond of Elora. She was a very powerful and beautiful sorceress. He wanted to know more about her and her home, Alereus. Was it like magical like Enchancia, with different creatures as well?

"You're not alone in this. If you like, we can accompany you back." Cedric spoke. Elora blinked and looked at him, surprised.

"Yeah! I can go and tell my dad and he can set up the arrangements for the trip." Sofia said as well. 

"You don't have to do this. It could be dangerous. I don't want to see both get hurt because of me, especially when I know that those lava creatures were sent after me."

"I think we can handle it. Since we have a great sorcerer with us." Sofia told Elora and smiled at Cedric. Cedric smiled at her. "And with you, it'll be double protection."

Elora smiled and nodded. She didn't want to part away from them yet, as well. Who knows, maybe this will be even more fun, now that she has company on the journey.

"I'd like that."

Immortality

Pairing | Prisma Daerel & Astarion Ancunín (platonic)

Content Warning | Drinking a lot of wine, this is set at the epilogue party, Prisma is emotional and Astarion comforts her for once. Or at least tries to. Talk of death and the cons of immortality.

Word Count | 1.5K

Summary | Prisma realized how she's going to outlive the love of her life. This fact tormenting her at night. Astarion was the only person who could understand and share some words of comfort. (Tried to make this as neutral for whatever love interest route Prisma goes on. So this could be her with Gale or Shadowheart!)

A letter from Withers was surprising for Prisma when it arrived. Mainly for the fact that Withers knew where she was, she’s not sure how he knew, but he has shown he has his own mysterious ways for her not to question. Reading the contents of the letter it seemed to be an invitation to get all together again to celebrate the 6 month anniversary of them defeating the Netherbrain. When she arrived at the location Withers had written down, she smiled when she realized it was their first camp. The exact spot where their journey would begin.

It was lit up with many torches and candles, plus the little fire that was set in the middle where they all usually slept around. Cute little banners hung around making it feel more festive. Music from a bard standing on top of a rock drifted across the whole camp area and settled a nice warmth in Prisma’s chest.

It was nice.

But despite how nice the party Withers had put together was, a cloud still seemed to follow Prisma around. The looming cloud did not leave her alone despite how much she smiled and felt happy to see everyone. She tried to ignore the cloud as best as she could. But slowly it would become too much, the wood-elf could only think of one solution.

Sitting at the long table that was covered in wine and food Withers had provided, Prisma grabbed one of the wine bottles to pour herself some in a goblet. Quietly Prisma nursed the wine by herself as she watched everyone enjoy the party for themselves. Taking this moment to be alone for a few minutes. Unfortunately, for how big their was. Prisma had forgotten how little privacy all of them had.

“I haven seen you look this upset since the Shadow-cursed Lands, darling.”

The wood-elf looked up from pouring herself some more crimson red to see a familiar pair of crimson eyes. White curly hair shining in the moonlight and pale skin reflecting back the many lights Withers had lit. Of course her vampire friend shows up as she opens a bottle of wine to drown her anxiety with.

“Hello, Astarion.” Prisma greets him as she sets down the bottle. “I’m fine.”

“You should know better by now. It’s better to not lie with me.” The high-elf slid into the seat next to her, taking the goblet she had just filled. “We both know you are a terrible liar.”

Prisma hums in agreement, not able to deny it from the history of her terrible lying abilities. Astarion had seen first-hand how bad it always goes for her. She watched the vampire take her wine and drink it, she then took it back when he set it down. She swirled the liquid in the cup. The movement was weirdly comforting at keeping her hands busy.

“C’mon, tell me what’s going on in your head.” Her friend urged her on.

Prisma was quiet for a moment as she contemplated if this subject was worth the time to talk about. If resorting to pushing it down and drowning it with wine to save from bringing everyone down was worth the risk. Everyone was so happy, she didn’t want to ruin it because some thoughts plague her at night. She took a glance at Astarion - who was patiently waiting for his friend to speak up - and realized he may be one of the few people here who would understand. Maybe it would be worth it?

“You can’t make fun of me, okay?”

Astarion feigned offense while exclaiming. “Darling, I would never!”

Prisma’s voice died again as she tried to collect her words together. She was thankful Astarion wasn’t pushing her to speak. Taking the time for her to collect herself to pour himself his own goblet of some wine sitting on the table. Grumbling to himself quietly about Withers not getting any blood for him.

Once he began to take a sip is when she finally spoke up. “There’s a vendor I’ve gotten to know. Her and her wife are an elf and human. The human died last week.”

When she didn’t continue, Astarion pushed with an “and?”

“It’s just… It’s made me realize I’m going to be in the same boat. I’m-” she paused as her throat closed. Drinking some of her wine to hopefully calm her nerves and open her throat. “I-I’m just realizing I’m going to watch everyone here die. And I’m going to end up a-alone.” Tears filled her eyes as she squeaked out the final bit, fighting with her throat to be able to push out the final words. “Watch the love of my life age and die before me.”

Astarion hums, sitting back as he took in her words. “You know there are ways to live longer, right?”

“Yes, I know. But I can’t ask my love to do that. It won’t fix anything, just prolong the inevitable instead. Besides, I’ve seen the corruption that can happen when you stretch out your life unnaturally. I would hate to be the cause of witness of that happen.” Prisma states, running her finger around the rim of her goblet. “Death is a part of keeping everything in balance. I can’t stop death for my own selfish reasons.”

“All druids worry about is the damn balance.” Astarion scoffed, waving off the idea. Prisma just rolled her eyes to her vampire friend, but a genuine smile etched across her face. “I do understand those thoughts. Realizing immortality isn’t that great once you know you’ll watch everyone around you fade away while you… stay the same.”

Prisma realized with a horror that not only was Astarin in the same boat as her, but he was in the worst case. While Prisma’s life was prolonged by her druid powers. His were prolonged from being a vampire. Prisma could die from old age, Astarion couldn’t. How shitty was it of her to talk about this here? To sit here whining about it and remind him of his own fate. What a friend she was.

“I’m so sorry- I didn’t me to-”

“Don’t.” Astarion interrupted her with an exasperated expression, looking a little annoyed at her apologizing. “It’s been 200 years and I’ve long since accepted it. You know what I’ve dealt with for the past 200 years, I’ve come to not focus on those little woes since.”

Prisma swallowed her embarrassment, trying not to cry. She tried to hide her embarrassment by drinking the rest of her wine. The quiet that fell between them felt uncomfortable, maybe only on Prisma’s end as Astarion continued to drink his own wine like nothing big had happened. She really has to stop worrying about offending the vampire next to her so much.

“How do you do it?” She finally asks as she taps her finger against her cup. She turned her gaze to Astarion, tearing her eyes away from Karlach trying to convince Wyll to dance with her. “Handle that pain?”

“Honestly, darling? I’ve just finally gotten to live. The love I have may feel short and that hurts to know that, but the love I feel outweighs the ache. Instead of worrying about some heartache in my future, I focus on remembering this love I’ve finally gotten to feel.” He turned his red eyes to look into her purple ones, a serious tone in them that made Prisma’s stomach churn uneasily. “Is this love worth the heartache?”

“Yes.” It surprised the wood-elf how easily it was to find that answer.

“Then focus on that.”

Prisma nodded, swallowing thickly again at the emotion that tried to bubble up. She really didn’t want to cry right now, this was not the place to do that. Nor did she want any more attention on her either, trying to mask all her emotions by the protection of her goblet. “I didn’t know you had it in you to become a poet, fang boy.”

“I’m still full of surprises.” the vampire grins. “But don’t you dare tell a soul. I have an image to uphold!” He exclaimed, gesturing in a way like he was presenting his image that made Prisma let out a laugh before she could stop herself. Smiling to herself at the offended look on his face.

“I promise. But… Can you promise me something?”

“Depends.”

“...Will you be there? When I am alone?”

Astarion paused and went quiet when the question left her lips. Prisma was ready to take it back when the silence went too long, her heart hammering in her chest uncomfortably before Astarion finally spoke up. “Of course, darling.”

Prisma breathed a little more easily. The air surrounding the two elves settling into one more comfortable and light compared to the dark cloud looming over Prisma earlier. A warmth spreading across her chest was a welcomed change for the wood-elf. The two watched their friends in the silence that had fallen over them. It didn’t feel uncomfortable this time, just easy to sit with each other and not need to say anything else.
