Ulquiorra and Orihime relationship didn't started as the cutest or nicest thing ever and i can recognize that, but i don't ship them because he kidnapped her (by Aizen's order) or for saying distateful things to Ori.

Ulquiorra it's not a human, he doesn't have moral and lives in a cruel world, which makes sense of why he's so nihilistic, Ulquiorra didn't treat her like a princess at the start and tried to break Ori spirit, but at the moment she didn't acted like anyone else he got surprised and then wanted to understand her and what she is feeling, she literally changed his world view! Only with her feelings Ori made Ulquiorra, a hollow, a "bad creature" question everything what he thought was right.

Ulquiorra not only tried to understand her, but also was slowly chaging his behaviour to her, especially after he listened to her crying because of him, he even protected Ori from Ichigo's attacks when she wasn't necessary to Aizen anymore.

That's the reason why i don't feel uncomfortable, because despite they having a rowdy start, Ulquiorra a corrupted soul was willing to understand and change for Ori. No she didn't fixed him or need to, Ori didn't forced him to anything! He did it HIMSELF! Kinda in a unconsciously way, but because of her!

The idea of this ship for me is them living a peaceful life together after his redemption, not this dark and edgy "omg he kidnapped her so s3xy!" or "he atormented her so many s#xual tension!". Especially because Nel is an example that not all hollows are bad! And a Hollow having a rendemption arc would be amazing c'mon!

I don't speak for everyone in the fandom, because people have different interpretations, but this is how i view them.

This is why they often paralled to Beauty and the Beast, a nice and kind girl changed Beast worldview and willing to change his behaviour, because of her! She didn't fixed him, he did it himself! And after he become a actually good person, he could live a wonderful life by her side.

you'll probably won't see this message but i'll send it anyway lol.. i love you speak your mind about how the ichihime ship isn't that great and has all the facts to bring it show that you're right. i always felt scared to say i don't ship ichihime cuz they're are alot of shippers that can get so intense about it. i always say that ichihime is a cute ship and they have their moments(i don't feel that way at all lol) cuz i don't want to be attacked for not liking how their story played out. twitter is a scary place oml💀 and they made me sorta believe that ichiruki doesn't have any chemistry and they're just siblings when i knew in my heart like yes they do have chemistry and are the superior ship. like ichigo cares more for chad and uryuu then orihime. but since their canon, i guess their love for each other is supposed to be legit. apparently ichigo sees his mother in orihime so i don't understand why that's not a turn-off for the shippers😭so yeah thanks for making me go back in my bleach fangirl era and making my 10-year old self to not feel guilty and stupid shipping ichiruki

You don't have to be scared to support what was, and still is, the most popular ship in Bleach (and rightfully so). There was no real ship war during its run (despite what the antis try to claim now), as IR was shipped by most of the fanbase. IR had everything you could hope a M/F ship to have in a battle shounen, the most solid basis for becoming canon with just one more step...and yet... (Kubo fumbled 🙄). The theories on that are interesting...

While more than half the IR fandom is no longer active after that disastrous ending, it doesn't mean they're not still out there. I've seen even non-shippers still praise IR & see it as wasted potential & whatnot (triggering antis in the process 🤭). Not being canon doesn't take away from the fact that it is still the superior ship. Anyone with reading comprehension who reads the manga will see it & wonder why they didn't end up together.

IH was never popular in Japan. It was always far below IchiRuki & UlquiHime (Ori's most popular ship 👀. Kubo achieved in ONE arc what he couldn't achieve for IH the entire manga, like-). To this day, those 2 ships get more content than the canon ships 😌.

The antis are just triggered that despite becoming canon, their ship is still. not. popular. IH doesn't have nearly as much content (both canon AND fanon) as IR & UH despite being canon for almost 10 years. Yes, Kubo himself doesn't care enough to give them even one family sketch 🫢.

Compare that to the Naruto endgame ships (mainly NaruHina & SasuSaku), which have way more official AND fan content. Those were always popular, & still are, 10 years later since becoming canon. Pro-Bleach ED fans love to compare their ships with Naruto's yet are nowhere near as popular.

The IH's really thought they would get the NaruHina royal treatment after the ending (you know, like a movie, official drawings from the creator, interviews saying they were meant to be, merch, etc.), but instead only got a novel that wasn't even focused on them (Ren/Ruki is more popular than IH but mainly because of Rukia 🤣), which vaguely went over their so-called "development" & had chicken scratches a rough draft of a sketch for their ship 🫢. Kubo also said in an interview that IH tried dating in college once but then broke up, later getting back together at some point. Super vague. And mind you, all this happened AFTER Rukia's wedding 🫢👀. So, we can only guess what was going through Ichigo's mind- Doesn't sound like Ichigo was all that interested, huh? Yet the IH's claim he was madly in love with her & "came back to life for her" & whatnot. Almost 10 years later & Kubo still can't be clear on when Ichigo supposedly started to "fall" for Ori despite being his "intended" endgame 💀.

The WDKALY novel has such OOC content on there, like it can't be taken seriously. Apparently, Kubo barely had any involvement with it anyway? Those sketches he drew sure are telling, esp if he calls his drawings here as a "rough draft" 💀

RR is another dumpster fire but also more meh for me so I don't have to delve into that one, however, here's a post I once made where I go over why I don't truly believe Renji had feelings for Rukia. Meanwhile, Rukia's sad expression on the novel cover & the sketch of heading to the altar with a scared expression (not even when she was headed to her own execution did she look like THAT) say it all anyway 🫢.

Oh, man, there's just so much to make fun of for the canon ships. Even when we lose, we still win. IH's have no content, so maybe that's why they're so bitter & IR & its shippers still live in their minds rent-free despite them calling it a "dead ship". You would think they'd happily enjoy their canon ship & yet... They get triggered whenever IR fanart garners thousands of likes on Twitter 😩...

So, anon, I suggest not to engage with antis, esp on platforms like Twitter & Reddit. They're cesspools full of dudebros & loud IH's. Ignore, block, &/or mute them. No need to try arguing with them & please do NOT cater to them. Do NOT give them the validation they don't even get from Kubo himself, nor his affiliates (LMFAO). Use that energy to look for other fellow IR's & enjoy IR content (and maybe anti-IH content in the right places; you can explore that tag on my blog if u wish 🤪).

An Anti Ulquihime/Ishihime, who thinks that calling Rukia Abarai is “cute” when in the novel she’s  stressed/dread af, calls any other ship with Ori that’s not Ichihime “spiteship”? If Ichihime were like Nero/Kyrie (which I love and adore) I would’ve ship them asd well, but they are not.  Okay, I understand you dislike Ulqui, considering him a “bad guy” (which is childish af, cuz Ulquiorra’s gone through some heavy character development, thanks to Orihime and Ulquihime fans in Japan), but... Ishida? Who cared about Orihime more than anybody else (except Tatsuki), who was there for her, saving her, cheering her up, loving her wholeheartedly?  Seems to me you’re just pissed off that I don’t ship what you ship. I refuse to believe ichi/hime was intended. not just because ichiruki is without a doubt a healthy, beautiful and caring relationship, but because orihime had two two TWO other better possible relationships , one that was easily one of the most tragic romances in a shounen series, and the other that was so incredibly cohesive and unselfish.

That sounds like a perfect end. I'm a huge Ulquihime (and IshiNemu) fan, but if I was forced to write a different ending with Kubo's cannon Ishihime would have been endgame. They are both such lovable characters that deserved so much better. Ichiruki was done so dirty by Kubo. All of his 'They were meant to be Bff's, but I made all the symbolism romantic cuz lol' Dude needs a good smacking ��

I don’t really like IshiNemu as I’m not a big Nemu fan, I don’t like her or dislike her though. I’m purely neutral to her. 

Ichigo and Rukia were more than friends but less than lovers. But in the end, IchiRuki got thrown under the bus in the final chapter. 

UlquiHime also got thrown under the bus when Ulquiorra got killed off which makes me salty to no end. UlquiHime could’ve happened if Kubo didn’t kill Ulquiorra off despite him being a villain, especially as Ulquiorra somewhat redeemed himself while dying as he reached out to Orihime and she did the same.

IshiHime got the same treatment as UlquiHime and IchiRuki, which is downright depressing as they had good development and a higher chance of becoming canon despite Uryuu and Orihime still being on last name basis just like her and Ichigo.

I would smack Kubo too as he got my hopes up for IchiRuki becoming canon but then he crushed them by making IchiHime and RenRuki canon.

Can Bleach Shippers all agree that Kubo ‘’baited’’ us regarding the romance in Bleach!?

Yes, I know Bleach is a Shonen Manga and isn’t focused on romance, but Kubo did decide to have Ichigo end with Orihime and Rukia with Renji. 

That’s canon despite how I and others feel about it. 

With the comeback of Bleach’s Anime, the shipping wars between Ichiruki and Ichihime have ‘’resurrected’’ and this has caused speculation on what is the better ship, and what Kubo intentionally wanted. In all honesty, we don’t know what was originally planned regarding the romance in Bleach, we aren’t Kubo, we are not 100 percent sure of what he thought while writing the story. Authors change their stories millions of times, this happens with Mangaka’s since they have to write chapters weekly so they don’t get time to flesh out ideas at times.

Based on the Manga (Source material) no matter what you shipped Kubo did cater to both Ichiruki and Ichihime in various ways. Shippers are not wrong for shipping Ichiruki and Ichihime. I used to think how could anyone ship Ichihime when it was so one-sided, I even wrote posts on it in the past. Based on the manga and story, Ichiruki had more depth to it, no matter if you are a shipper or not. But looking back on how everything panned out I can see how Ichihime shippers got invested into this ship.

With Ichihime Kubo focused a lot on Orihime’s crush on Ichigo. A lot of the romance of Ichihime came from Orihime’s view/standpoint. She is the one who says she would love him in 5 different lifetimes, Orihime chose to spend her last night next to Ichigo before being taken to Hueco Mundo by Ulquiorra, and she wanted Ichigo to save her from Hueco Mundo (she initially went there with no resistance because of this). I can see why shippers would run to ship this because in canon Orihime likes Ichigo, it’s been said and showcased in the Manga/Anime with all these moments. Fans of her character can see why it’s important to her so of course they would want her with Ichigo. But that’s where the material ends. Kubo only gives anything that pushes for Ichihime from Orihime’s standpoint and not Ichigo’s.

It’s only after the manga ends that he tries to make the connection from Ichigo’s standpoint in the light novels. Why not in the manga?

Plus, I can surely say for a fact that Orihime was challenged as a character whenever she was around Ulquiorra and Uryu. And those characters were also teased too to be with Orihime at some point and it was very subtle. They had some small romantic moments with her and it worked well with the narrative of the storyline.

I always questioned why Kubo would make Orihime have a crush on Ichigo but then include multiple moments of romance between Ichigo/Rukia?

Why did Kubo have Orihime love Ichigo? What did he plan to do with the romance and how would it add to the plot of the story? Was it to add to her character arc? Because aside from Hueco Mundo and her mini-arc with grieving over her brother Sora, and unlocking her fullbring powers to protect Tatsuki in s1, she didn’t get much attention or story. I know she got some moments outside of these areas but they weren’t vital. Her love for Ichigo only revolves around her really, he’s not that involved if we think about it. Most Anime fans who know of Bleach only know Orihime for screaming ‘‘Kurosaki-Kun’‘ while Ichigo is seen as his character/person outside Orihime.

In comparison, let us look at another shonen anime like MHA. 

Yes, we know Uraraka loves Izuku and it’s been shown to be stronger on her end than his. While he does love her it’s taking him more time to know he is in love, since he’s so focused on becoming the best hero. But he has shown many actions of love/affection towards Uraraka in the anime/manga. However, the difference is Uraraka has her character and continuing storyline, her love for Izuku pushes the narrative of how heroic Izuku is. He inspired her to be a better hero and to be more confident and serious about getting better.

That works for the story and Uraraka’s character.

With Bleach, Orihime’s love for Ichigo ends with her. This is because Kubo didn’t make it convincing enough with the material in the manga. He gave Ichihime fans some ground to work with, but also kept pushing the narrative of Ichiruki in the meantime. For me, Ichihime falls flat because there is not enough material or push on Ichigo’s end throughout the whole manga to support that he loved Orihime. No confession in the Manga/Anime while it was running (or at its height during the 2000s), no artwork or spreads of the two (ALONE) to showcase romance/affection from Ichigo’s perspective, and nothing from Kubo either if we want to keep it real. He never talked about Ichihime being the endgame couple or hinted at it, and I surely remember him saying Ichigo and Rukia were more than friends less than lovers.

Why was he so happy to talk about the relationship between Ichigo x Rukia, when he could have shut down the speculation of them being together?

At this point I don’t have to write why I and any other shippers shipped Ichiruki...the manga is right there. We didn’t ship them to spite anyone, Ichiruki was pushed heavily at the start of the manga and many moments in-between after that. 

Why make Rukia stop Ichigo’s rain and not Orihime? Why has Ichigo repaired the broken relationship with Rukia and Byakuya in the SS arc and not Renji? Why has Ichigo saved Rukia and not Renji? Why let Rukia say Ichigo’s the man in her heart? 

Shouldn’t that be Renji? But it wasn't....

Another thing I want to talk about is Rukia being like a sister to Ichigo. Many fans say this or that she’s just a friend. Kubo said himself that she’s more than a friend in an interview so we can’t caller her that. So is she like a sister? What would be the need for that? Ichigo has two sisters already (Yuzu x Karin say hi!) and we see how he acts with them. He’s protective but secretive at times to protect them from knowing his identity as a soul reaper during the first few arcs. Ichigo pretends to be happy and okay when he’s really depressed inside when it comes to his sisters. He even showed this behaviour to Orihime, remember he was depressed about his mother’s death anniversary and he pretended to be happy around Orihime at school? But with Rukia he didn’t act that way, he straight up told her he was depressed and not okay because of his mom’s murder.

He’s transparent with Rukia.

It’s clear Rukia is above the role of a sister when it comes to how Ichigo views her. Remember Orihime was nervous about their relationship and even spoke to Rangiku about it.

Why would Kubo add that in if he was 100 percent gunning for Ichihime? Make it make sense because the math ain’t mathing. 

Aside from this point, even with the new anime promo for Bleach Kubo is making official art with mostly only ‘’ichiruki’’ panels. He knows that people like them as a pair (the way many of his ichiruki japanese/international fans reacted to the ending by burning bleach volumes says it all) so he keeps on giving us content. I wondered why Ichigo and Orihime have not had any official art together or to promote them as a couple? 

The same question I ask here for Renruki?

I just wanted to make this post because I feel like from both sides are being played when it comes to ships, I just wish I could speak to Kubo and get some clarity.

I do think it’s fact that Ichiruki felt more earned and believable than Ichihime based on the fact that BOTH sides showed romantic actions/cues towards each other in the manga. It didn’t seem one-sided and you can’t deny they have an unbreakable bond. 

I will always be a Ichiruki fan but I just wish Kubo didn’t pander/tease various couples. It did more harm than good and now with Bleach coming back it’s going to be a ship war again.

A lot of bleach stans, always say how some fans don't care about the history, and only about the ships, but what they want to? As much I love Bleach, there's so many terrible things in the history, the worldbulding, the character develompment, even some character designs, it's not my fault if the non canon ships are the most entertaining part of it 🤷🏽‍♀️.

(The most funny part of it, is how most of the people who say these things, are the ones who liked the ending, who is terribly written and goes against everything that the story has established).

I can't believe all the shit I had to read, if it weren't enough to make Ulquiorra and Orihime's relationship more "healthier" than Ichigo and Orihime's, do you still get fancy that Ichigo almost killed her? You are telling me that Ulquiorra's treatment of Orihime as intimidating her; manipulating her (exerting psychological pressure); making fun of her friends in front of her; trampling on her trust and hope; treating her like a prisoner; allowing Loly and Menoly to physically abuse her; Killing her friends in front of her mercilessly etc etc etc; are any act of "compassion" compared to what savage technique Ichigo could have "killed" her? Whose purpose of that his fight was - you know, insignificant thing - to save and free her? When Orihime was not even close to suffering any damage with Ichigo's Getsuga Tenshou (Nor Ulquiorra's attacks which curiously does not mention it that could also damage her)...

As if Ichigo's distraction load was not enough and being forced to interrupt in the middle of battle to try to help her...

And again...

You seem to purposely ignore that Ichigo was still holding back from his power in order not to hurt Orihime until Uryuu's arrival, what a priority.

And if Ichigo was really careless with launching his attack techniques and that they could even touch her, then forgive him. It is not an easy task to fight and protect someone at the same time, and worse when the disadvantages increase as the intervention of other characters while blocking his step to rescue her.

Remember when Ichigo recovered from his unconscious complete hollow transformation and ignored Orihime's well-being while Ulquiorra was the one who cared for her well-being? Me neither.

But what difference does it make? These antis see any detail with a magnifying glass to place the IH relationship against them at any time. Keep it up, don't miss any details, record everything you can in your investigation methodology of "absurd and microscopic things of which IH was not a healthy couple". 🥴

Ulquiorra, the 4th Espada, who is a Hollow, never has been such a threat to Hime as Hollow Ichigo’s become.

And I bet Ulquiorra knew that.  But still I bet my a*s Aizen wouldn’t wanted to kill Hime cuz for him she’s just a harmless pretty girl no more. Different story for Ulq’s tho...

Even after that slap he didn’t do anything to her. 

Just imagine what Nnoitra would’ve done to her were he there instead of Ulquiorra.

Even Grimm did a better “saving”:

Beast Ichigo almost killed Ishida. There was no protection at all. There was the desire to fight and destroy Ulquiorra. To destroy anybody on Ichigo’s way.

Ori’s screams meant nothing to him.

That’s how close Ishi and Ori were to the fight, to the danger.

If not Ulquiorra that Ichi’s attack would’ve done terrible damage to everybody. Probably killing all of them.

THE IRONY:

  Funny thing: on the first encounter Ichigo was the protector and Ulqui the attacker. In the end tho Ichigo became the attacker while Ulqui - the protector.

Also Ichigo came to HM because he cared about Hime (as a friend) but in the end he forgot about her due to his transformation. Ulquiorra didn’t care at all about Hime’s feelings but in the end he was depicted as the one who still cared about her life, realizing his own feelings towards her. Even Hime’s feelings towards Ichigo.
