5 RULES to Beat PROCRASTINATION: Time-Devouring Monster vs. EPICTETUS
You know the feeling when you keep putting off your daily tasks and even your life-defining goals?
You find new excuses for your indecision, giving yourself extra time to stay inactive, almost as if you're celebrating your laziness, even though you fully understand the importance of what needs to be done.
Some people even delay their daily routines for an entire year — or for the next one!
Procrastination — the silent thief of time and potential, a relentless, time-devouring monster — often stems from a lack of mental energy, focus, or emotional readiness to tackle tasks.
To overcome it, it's important to practice patience after all — patience to watch this video all the way through to uncover how to break free from this long-lasting monstrous skill-killer and take charge of your life starting now.

not to complain about the enshittification of the internet but ign walkthroughs are pretty useless nowadays huh
#twice now ive gotten stuck on a puzzle and theyre no help#because it doesnt give details. reading the walkthrough is like#yeah it’s not technically incorrect but it’s not helpful yknow lmao#people arent just reading these instead of watching a streamer#honestly this isnt super new because i remember ive had this problem before#maybe ign is the problem. it’s been a long time since the ascii desert map breakdown for paper mario#just frustrating. it takes time to write something in-depth enough and clearly that’s not valued because#you live on the internet so you GOTTA churn out articles to get clicks#quantity over quality etc#what do they think walkthroughs are for if not for helping with little details lmao#‘in order to unlock the door youll need to solve the puzzle. then go through the door#yknow i had figured that part out myself. useless lmao#‘find and activate the nodes’ without saying where any of the lasers are#what are we even doing here#personal.txt

playing the first metal gear is just restarting a level over and over and over because snake keeps dying to randomly placed saw traps or soldiers shooting at him while he individually goes through 6 different access cards to see which one opens a door
#SO many keycards and I STILL can’t access some of these doors. my brain is melting. okay.#the rolling pins and trap doors too…. who designed this place#snake: *loses almost all his health figuring out which keycard opens a door*#the room inside: *empty*#okay.#I keep running into the problem I did with RE 1 where I die and lose all my progress then forget to grab the items I lost#and then I have to backtrack#at least I had a map and quick save with RE. this is brutal 😭#😓 all the walkthroughs on YouTube being under 2 hours while I’m 4 hours in…….

Hey, everyone!
I'm currently working on a very basic implementation for short stories to be read in the actual game, but I encountered something that I wasn't aware was an issue.
For some reason, dialog popups that exceed a certain length are overflowing off the page, and this happens even when I go into the style sheet and change the dialog overflow property accordingly. (And, yes, this happens on both PC and mobile.)
Thankfully, I don't think any of the dialog boxes so far exceed the length of the box, which is doubtless why no one has ever reported this issue to me before. But it does mean that, until I can figure out why that's happening, there is a possibility that future dialog boxes will have this problem.
As for short stories, I wanted to implement them with dialog boxes because I think it looks nicer that way (on mobile specifically), but instead I'll be doing the more simple (and probably expected) implementation of making passages with the <<return>> macro.
The demo update this week is going to be pretty sparse on account of the holidays, but it will have the first four "Snowed In" snippets of the bunch. The last four will be released with the January 4th update, which will be the last day of the free month of ko-fi benefits.
#bug report#status: open#i reported it to myself so it counts#i don't know if there is something more that i need to add to the style sheet#or if there is a conflict between the template css and what's already built in to sugarcube#and unfortunately i'm not on the most recent version of twine because of the problem that occurred when they updated earlier this year#which i know people have released walkthroughs of the fix for#but i just haven't done it yet#coding is not my strong suit#i have to do so much research when setbacks like this happen#i guess it's like that for experienced coders too tho 😂

Why is Visual Basic not compatible with Visual Basic for Applications!!! And why did none of the documentation mention this!!!!
#I've spent like two hours slamming my head into an incredibly basic wall.#ha ha ha basic. Ugh.#Literally I was copying lines of code out of examples and pasting them in and getting compiler errors.#so like I knew I was missing Something fundamental#But for fucks sake could the VBA walkthrough I started with not have put in some kind of fucking disclaimer???#I started trying to look things up and got into the VB documentation pages and then. Problems forever time.#And of course none of the stack exchange threads I found were helpful because no one on stack exchange thinks you could possibly#make such a mistake as to not know what language you're coding in!!#And the stupidest thing is that now that I've fruitlessly read a bunch of VB documentation VBA seems really clunky#fffffff#Anyway back to the spreadsheet mines

So basically here’s the concept that I had mentioned before.
The player character, right now I’m calling Silly Berry, is on the left and the right is the more cryptid design that I wanted to try out. Basically right character represents the walkthroughs guiding the player through the islands.
#art#new ocs#silly berry#I don’t have a name for the other one yet#why did I make the representation of walkthroughs a cryptid?#because I have a strange sense of humor#imagine villains thinking they can take down a child only to have that appear and explain to said kid how to kick their ass#sounds like a them problem tbh

*sigh* the website my physics class assigns problems on has this AI study tool to walk you through the steps of a problem if you don’t understand it, and it can honestly be pretty helpful sometimes, but it can also be completely, bafflingly wrong. What do you MEAN 1100/30 simplifies to 2200/30???
#ai#physics homework#ai study tool#school#weird#and the worst part is some of the problems do have step-by-step walkthrough questions that are actually written by people#but instead of doing that for all the problems I guess it’s more convenient to have an ai make practice problems for you#even if its answers are sometimes bullshit 🤷♀️

He said she shines like a beacon in the fade, because of the anchor. Then in the same conversation goes on to ask if the anchor changed her in any way, affected her Spirit. He concludes she's Just Like That. Solas is besties with like, every spirit ever, so they must all be following each of them around independently anyway. Peering through the veil like fish through an inverted fish tank in a pond. So even after losing the anchor, she's permanently impacted, likely still very much a beacon. She's got every spirit of wisdom she could ever need at her disposal to teach her the language (over ten years!)
It's almost tragic, that the Dalish clans we've seen fear demons so much that they don't consort at all. The Avaar have a rich, living history because they understand spirits, probably arguably better than Nevarrans (there's a side quest of going and telling an Augur in training that she's gotta let go of her friend. They do willing possessions and de-possessions regularly. I don't think there was even any actual shame for her staying possessed? I think she just left because she didn't like having to let go, I think the exile was self imposed. Could be wrong. Too lazy to check before I hit post. In my mind there's a scrapped Veilguard dlc of taking Lucanis and Spite down to the Avaar and Emmrich is flabbergasted. Anyway.) Not to mention Lavellan has personal relations with the Avaar now, and probably studied tf up on her spirit knowledge.
Lavellan goes from knowing just a lil Elvish at the beginning of DA:I (what scraps the Dalish managed to preserve), to knowing a bit more in Trespasser (enough to chastise her boyfriend in the language, you just know she was studying hard for that), to being able to chat easily and fluidly with Solas in the language in Veilguard. And she now matches his cadence, which appears to actually be a feature of the language itself rather than simply a quirk of Solas’s, making her level of fluency all the more impressive.
And he knows! Immediately, he knows. He only really bothers speaking in Elvish to her, almost nobody else (not even Mythal), and doesn’t give any indication that he’s worried she might not understand his meaning. They speak in cadence and he knows she’ll ‘complete his sentences’, so to speak.
It's VERY cute.
It makes me wonder at how he knows so much about her improved fluency. Did they ever talk in the past 8 years? Did he chat with Spirits who might’ve taught her? Did he perhaps point them her direction in the first place?
I’m so normal about them.
#Got very tangent#Meds are wrong#The Inquisitor can't be the VG protag not because Solas knows them#But because they're still busy solving literally every problem#They're stuck in the south because of fucking politics#They're not down there exclusively fighting#They're managing refugee routes and trying to convince lords to leave or bolster#The Inquisitor is down there playing Origins on hardcore with no walkthrough#And the HoF won't touch it with a ten foot pole#HoF found Anders and Justice and their asses are also hiding out in the fade#Stumbled across Hawke#Turns out every DA protag ultimate fate is “safe in the fade”

deranged ex husband!ghost thoughts:
he lives up to his nickname. he's not ex husband price who simply Does Not Stop and shows up all the time to demonstrate to your new partners that he is fundamental anatomy to your life.
he haunts you. tampered amazon packages, a room slightly altered when you return from work, he's in your phone, he's in your inbox, he fixes things while you're away just as often as he breaks them.
is there someone in the other room? you bought a travel door lock and replaced every piece of home security tech with something new but you can swear you can hear a window shimmied open, a door lock whirring. you think you're losing your mind. who do you call when you think you're being stalked? when security is your greatest fear? your ex? his friends?
a wriggling and primal part of your mind warns you this is a bad idea. but you unblock his number, you text simon to see if he's still in the area. how are you doing? i know it's been a while, but i need a favor.
oh my goodness............................. (18+)
he says nothing as he does a walkthrough of your new divorcee flat. one bedroom in a nice-enough neighborhood, but you saw the twitch of his eye when he noticed the front lobby doors could be jimmyed open with the edge of a credit card.
the cat greets him like she always does. slender, grey thing that slithers between his thick legs as he moves through your space. you notice his gloved hands ghosting over divots in entryways that he made, flicking the useless lock of your window that he's already broken himself twice. you follow him like a puppy into every room he studies, rocking back and forth, wet eyes and trembling lips realizing as he moves just how unsafe you are.
he says nothing when he stands in your foyer again after doing his thorough once-over, turning to face you silently, where you're already crying. he just stands, not touching you, tilting his head to the side as he watches those glassy, salty tears fall down your puffed cheeks as you sputter through soft breaths that you don't know what to do.
ghost just kisses his teeth and stands there. he's an asshole—he's not going to do anything unless you ask him to. he's mean like that, likes to be wanted. he wants you to open your pretty, wet mouth and ask for it like a good girl. he's not going to assume you want his help; he wants you to put your hands on his thick chest and ask him all pathetic that you need him to do something about the thing that's been breaking into your house.
ghost is not your husband anymore though. when he was, he would've gladly fixed all your things for you. he would've gladly spent the entire day installing cameras, fixing your locks, getting you proper deadbolts, but he's just some man to you now, and his labor isn't for free.
he wants to feel nasty about it, but he can't. you don't even have to ask what he wants—you know what it is. you sniffle, blubbery and whiny, as you put your thumbs into the gusset of your sleep shorts and pull them to the side as you bend over the kitchen counter.
he keeps a big hand tangled in your hair as he fucks you. he yanks your neck back, bending you at the hip, an angle so sharp that your back arches uncomfortably as the edge of the counter digs into your tummy sharply. he barely makes a sound himself, but the slick between your bodies makes up for it.
slap, slap, slap—you're soaked between the thighs, all wound up and hot and breathless after watching ghost be so capable and confident and smart. he's so intelligent. he's so big and brawny and brave. you'd trade anything to feel safe again after living on your own after so long, and honestly, paying for fixed locks for a wet shag with your ex-husband isn't the worst price at all.
the problem between you two was never the sex, that's for sure. in fact, you think the connection alone kept you around longer than you meant to be. ghost would light a cigarette and stick a thick hand down his trousers, and you'd all but fall onto his dick just to placate the heat of attraction that always wound you like crazy.
your eyes roll back in your head when he cups your pussy with a big, hot hand. you grip the counter and grind against his palm, sticking your tongue out as he pounds into you deeper, more forcefully. he's close, you know it by the falter in his breaths, and you can't help yourself.
you just can't.
"inside—" you whine. "don't pull out—"
ghost laughs—why the fuck would he ever pull out?
maybe if he breaks a window next, you'll let him try for a baby.

The only problem with older games is when a scene absolutely destroys you and there's not a single gifset. 🙃
#this is Mem's life#anyway I am So Normal about Estelle and Renne in Trails from Zero#by which I mean#really massively unwell because three 60-100hour games worth of angst taking another healing step#without healing fully yet#you have to give these games the sheer Commitment#anyway I've got a walkthrough up as a checklist to make sure I don't forget anything#and hilariously they're like 'if you played the other trails games you know x character!'#took me a while to realize they meant the third set of games#and not the first three#then they were like this character has a portrait! they must be important!#while I'm over here FRIEND#cause they were from the first games. XD#problems of not getting an English translation in proper order I suppose#and older games being a bit harder to find#anyway they didn't get the full emotional beat of the whole Renne side story#while I'm over here being destroyed because her Parents#Then Estelle Crying and then 180 ALLRIGHT LET'S FIND HER!#very Estelle. series you should go back to female main characters

"feeling like everybody around u just ‘gets’ things because they’re just Naturally Smart and ur Naturally Not Smart and u have to study so much just to match them blah blah."
"any intellectual ‘ease’ u observe from ppl around u simply stems from former knowledge and practice they’ve had. none of it is about the smooth linearity of learning some ppl seem to exhibit, all of it is about invested time and work into something. our brains can literally learn anything... remember that u r always in full control of how much knowledge and how many skills u have.
nice grades r simply a reflection of effective studying and nothing else. having to retake a class is not an indicator of ur value as a person, it only means ur study methods aren’t as productive as they could be. i’m sure the material ur learning now, at age 21, is a lot more complex than what u were studying at 17, so as ur class content evolves, ur ways of studying need to as well... u need to full-on confront what u don’t know – yes scary but yes necessary – and revisit that and repeat until there’s nothing left to confront.
let’s say u r one of the worst students of ur class. so what. what are u going to do from there?
I simply can't study properly anymore. I see people in my classroom studying and having nice grades while I study and have to retake a class because I wasn't approved last semester. It isn't a medical problem, I can literally feel my confidence level getting lower as the years go by. I'm 21 and I miss who I was at the age of 17-18 so much. I studied so much that time and I felt so happy. I don't know what's happening to me, all of a sudden I feel like I'm one of the worse students of my class.
i’m not sure what u mean by can’t study properly, but here r some things:
people in ur class are studying and have nice grades…and? because they’re inherently intelligent and ur not? no. ur doing urself a big disservice by viewing ur classmates w/ awe while devaluing ur own path and potential.
i used to have this mentality too honestly and i still catch it bubbling up sometimes–feeling like everybody around u just ‘gets’ things because they’re just Naturally Smart and ur Naturally Not Smart and u have to study so much just to match them blah blah. none of that is true and it’s also a completely pointless and destructive mentality to have because barring ‘medical problems’, we r all born with the same neurological system that picks up information thru the same mechanisms. any intellectual ‘ease’ u observe from ppl around u simply stems from former knowledge and practice they’ve had. none of it is about the smooth linearity of learning some ppl seem to exhibit, all of it is about invested time and work into something. our brains can literally learn anything (otherwise it’d be a very inefficient organ wouldn’t it. humans would’ve died out early on). remember that u r always in full control of how much knowledge and how many skills u have.
nice grades r simply a reflection of effective studying and nothing else. having to retake a class is not an indicator of ur value as a person, it only means ur study methods aren’t as productive as they could be. i’m sure the material ur learning now, at age 21, is a lot more complex than what u were studying at 17, so as ur class content evolves, ur ways of studying need to as well. in a nutshell, u need to study actively – thru quizzing urself / flashcards / practice exams / giving a fake lecture on the material. u need to full-on confront what u don’t know – yes scary but yes necessary – and revisit that and repeat until there’s nothing left to confront. good site on this: cal newport study hacks / good article on this: effective learning: twenty rules on formulating knowledge
let’s say u r one of the worst students of ur class. so what. what are u going to do from there? that’s what u gotta ask urself when stuff starts feeling bad, when u feel like u are no longer in control. 1) u are in control – u always are, 2) how are u going to use everything u’ve done up to this point – ur experiences and skills and knowledge – to reorient urself. focus on ur self. this is about u and ur path. make the competition about u, figure out where ur yesterday self could improve and act on it. feeling sorry for urself never gets u anywhere!!!
hope this helps. u got this.
#fall 23#give a lecture -- but with a walkthrough of a whole ass problem (instead of preparing a lecture with only exposition and motivation)

I love your ideas for isekai reader! but what about a reader who is a professional or hardcore gamer? in the sense that will probably finish the videogames with the minimum of items or with lower level weapons
all this based on my friend's experience, who when he completed final fantasy discovered that the weapons could be improved or that there were more powerful weapons to defeat the bosses
—————
the chain: this enemy is very difficult, we should upgrade our weapons and come back later-
Gamer reader: the life bar moved, it can bleed
the chain: ...b-but this enemy attacks from very close range-
Gamer reader: then attack from afar
gamer reader: If the enemy can bleed, it can die

As a certified baby that can't complete any game without a walkthrough, this is absolutely not my lived experience. It takes a special kind of crazy to do that. /pos
The battle was fierce. The monster was strong. The HP bar, something that apparently only you could see, hadn’t moved an inch. Honestly, it felt like you were playing Souls again.
You were no stranger to tough fights. What made this one different was the fact that you were actually in the fight, as opposed to controlling a game character. Getting up close and personal with a monster sure did change some things.
“We need to fall back!” Time yells over the sound of swords clattering uselessly against the monster’s thick skin. “Champion, cover us!”
Wild obeys, pulling out his Sheika Slate and sending chains of energy towards the beast. It will only keep it in stasis for a few seconds, but it was better than nothing. Sky lands one more hit as he flees and you see it: the health bar moves. It probably only lost 1 hp, but it was better than nothing. A few thousand more hits like that, and it would fall, no problem!
“The health bar moved!” you excitedly tell Time and Warriors as you sprint away through the forest.
“Congratulations?” Wars looks at you in confusion.
“That means we can beat it!” you insist. “We just need to get a few more good hits in and it’s toast!”
“We can come back after we upgrade our weapons,” Time decides. “The monster is too powerful to take on at the moment. We were barely able to get away as it is.”
“But we damaged it!” you try again.
“Not enough. We need to do more damage in a shorter amount of time if we stand any chance at beating that thing.” Legend pipes up, and you glare daggers at him. He wasn’t even part of this conversation! What was he doing, butting in and sharing his completely incorrect idea?
“Are you talking about the little nick I gave it?” Sky asks, coming to run alongside you. “I’d hardly call that damage. It barely bled.”
“If it can bleed, it can die.” You mutter. This was getting you nowhere. Fine. If they wouldn’t listen to reason, you’d finish the job yourself. Without so much as a goodbye, you turn on your heel and begin sprinting back through the trees towards the monster.
In your haste, you nearly mow over Four and Wind. Four curses as you pass by, momentarily thrown off balance. Wind somehow puts Four to shame with his own expletives.
“Where are you going?” You hear a voice call after you. “Do you have a freaking death wish!?”
You ignore it and keep running.
The monster is exactly where you left it.
You steady your breathing as it locks eyes with you. It charges. You roll. Your sword strikes against its side as you dodge.
-1 hp.
The best slams its fist into the ground, trying to squash you. It misses my millimeters. You stab at it again.
-1 hp.
Again. And again. You dodge. You strike. You slowly chip away at its health.
You’re not sure how long it takes. You can’t focus on anything other than your movement patterns. When it finally falls, the sun is beginning to rise. Weird. You thought it was afternoon.
“Y/N! What in Hylia’s name were you thinking!?” Your limbs feel like lead as Wild shakes you. It takes a few moments for you to connect that he’s even talking to you. Was he… scolding you? Him??? Mr. I-sled-down-cliffs-for-fun?
“That was… insanely reckless,” Time sighs. He’s standing behind Wild, and he somehow looks even more tired than you feel.
“Where did you guys come from?” You try to think back, but your thoughts are about as fast as cold molasses. They had left, hadn’t they? Why were they here? You feel yourself being sat down as Hyrule begins to heal you.
“Most of us went back to town,” Wind explains. “We were gonna fight it with better supplies.”
“I stayed back to watch. I was planning on pulling you out of the fight, but you… seemed to handle yourself alright,” Warriors massages his temples. “I swear, if I gray early I’m holding you and you alone responsible.”
“Why didn’t you wait?” Legend asks. His familiar snark feels strained. Awww, was he worried about you? If you didn’t feel like passing out, maybe you would tease him a bit. Instead, you decide to answer his question.
“Why would I?”
You can hear multiple Links’ blood pressures rise as they take in your words.
Congrats! Every Link has even more anxiety now! Are you happy?

I visited the Como Zoo in Minnesota not long ago and learned that they recently had some tiger cubs! So recently that the babies and mama are not on exhibit yet, and likely won't be for a while. And it made me wonder, how long does it usually take for big cat cubs to go on exhibit? And what's going on behind the scenes while they're not on display?
(also, we were doing our walkthrough in the afternoon, and both of the lions as well as the remaining tiger on exhibit were just. Fully stretched out right in the middle of their enclosures, having the most luxurious naps of their lives lol. Both the boys were snoozing on their backs, belly-up, and it was very funny to behold. Also, the polar bear was having a great time showing off for a gaggle of kids at the pool window!)
Sounds like you visited on a good day! Re: when cubs are allowed on exhibit, it's a good question! It can vary, but normally big cat cubs aren't let on habitat until they're at least a few months old. There's a couple reasons for this:
They've got to grow! In the wild, cubs wouldn't leave their den until their eyes are open and they can walk. Like a den, keeping them behind the scenes keeps the babies warm and safe and where their health can be easily monitored by staff. Indoors, it's less stressful and more successful for staff coax mom into another den if they need to access a baby for medical care - imagine the problems if they were stashed somewhere outside and mom wouldn't come indoors at all!
Mom's got to be willing to let them go outside. Again, just like in the wild, female cats keep their cubs hidden until they're "ready" to go outside - which is when they're big and strong enough to be past the "potato with eyes" stage and actively want to start exploring the world. I've seen some cubs not spend a ton of time on exhibit even when a zoo is willing to let them because mom isn't sure about it and will pick them up and take them back indoors.
Habitats built for adults aren't always built for littles! Before young animals of any species can be let out into the adult habitats, they have to be baby-proofed. And the little have to be big enough to be able to navigate an adult space safely. You see this when habitats have pools or moats, frequently, where they're either drained or fenced off until cubs (or baby eles) are coordinated enough to swim or big enough to wade safely.
So really, the timing of habitat access is a safety/health/natural behavior thing, and it normally aligns with about the normal timeline of mom being willing to let her babies start to explore the world.
Meet Marisa and Maks, the Amur tiger cubs born at the Como Zoo in October 2024.
