Tried to do some colored pencil stuff yesterday and was reminded it's been some time since I've played with them in a non coloring book way. I don't do them the same way and we'll just leave it at that.

Got to look at it as I have an extra set of Derwent Chromaflow pencils for a gift exchange incase I end up in one. They're the above studio but not specialty line. Basically any of their colored pencils that aren't the hexagonal studio/artist (green barrel or black and white set) because it's the same core just thinner or thicker or the Chromaflow or the slightly fancier Procolor I'd generally say are "special" because they're either soft, have clay cores, lightfast/oil, pastel, charcoal, or a form of watercolor.

The studio/artist are hard and good for people who use a lot of pressure, the Coloursoft are soft like what Prismacolor should be if it had quality control but better, Lightfast are translucent, the soft drawing orange barrel are for Gashir artists because it'll have all the colors you'll need for them.

Trying to figure what we need to get done on our outing today. On one hand it's great living within five minutes of most places we need, walking distance if my body wasn't giving out on me, on the other we know how the big shopping center gets during gift season and we're figuring out ways to get home that don't require that intersection.

But we chose this neighborhood because the last one was no where near close to a grocery store and being I don't drive and have a history of shitty cars, but not this one, I want to be able to get to a grocery store on foot if I must. I am really out of practice with doing colored pencil art. I tried 3 times yesterday and just couldn't quite do it to a level where I was okay with it.

I also have at least one more brand of pencils that I think I can part with. But they aren't just give to the kid across the street pencils. I parted with all of those. It's not hat I want $100 for that one water color pencil set, it's I want $100 for that watercolor pencil set. There's 120 of them in it, they have nice tins. But I would give them to a promising art student who needed them because no one gave me shit when I did.

Not Derwent but the Chromaflow got to figure out where they belong around here. I don't think I'll be getting any more Procolor or Studio/Artist either. I think now I'll stick to Derwent for the "novelty/speciality" pencils, no one else does anything like the Soft Drawing, and use up what I have but for general colored pencils I might go with someone else.

But I can't let myself get back in tot he thought of wanting to do proper colored pencil comparisons, it's more about which ones did I end up keeping.

It's sort of a sit down and figure out who is and who isn't helping.

What needs to happen is I need to to find a place to set up the art projector and do some tracings in a sketch book and make it like a DIY coloring book for myself. If I don't have to worry about getting the nose in the right place I can turn more to other skills.

Also it didn't help that yesterday belonged to my hormones and brain injury.

Going to try again today as it's part of the being warm and comfortable plan today.
