Looking for new music on Spotify, I stumbled upon this band, and it felt like I discovered fire! The Ocean (originally known as The Ocean Collective) is a German band founded in the early 2000s. Currently, they continue to promote their latest, ambitious, and comprehensive album "Holocene" (2023), discussing philosophical issues of more recent times. But I confess my favorite albums are "Phanerozoic I: Paleozoic" (2018) and "Phanerozoic II: Mesozoic | Cenozoic" (2020). These conceptual albums explore paleontology and its questions. That's right! The songs beautifully delve into the evolution of life on Earth's System.

In reference to the concept of the Phanerozoic albums, Robin Staps explained to Roadie Crew magazine: "Although humanity is just a very recent phenomenon in the 541 million years of Phanerozoic eon history, the lyrics are obviously written from a human perspective. They are following Nietzsche's philosophical idea of amor fati in the light of the larger themes of Eternal Recurrence and the inevitability of an imaginary impending collision on a planetary scale, the two threads running through the albums Phanerozoic I and II."
