In TSM Jacobans (a religion from TSM that views the watcher as vengeful and merciless) have their own way of depicting the watcher in their subjects, and they also have the "eye of the watcher" as an object of religious veneration.

I liked the fact that the gem in the eye of the watcher is red (and this cannot be changed), as well as the sims plumbob when they feel bad.

So from a certain age Dominic also had to wear the Eye of the watcher. It's not like he had a choice, before the intrusion of the watcher into his life, his parents made every choice for him. But one day, someone will force him to make his own choice for the first time.

The Feminist Boy's Talk

If you are a boy, and you want to be a feminist, then sooner or later someone is going to give you the Talk. I got the talk from my mom, back when I was a boy. Plenty of people get it from friends, partners, family, teachers, comrades - somebody, eventually, is going to give you the Talk. It goes like this:

As near as I can tell, in order to achieve their actual goals (discussing and deconstructing the social system of transmisogyny, especially in queer circles) the tumblr transfeminists had to give trans men on tumblr the Talk. "Transandrophobia" truthers seem to be made up of the men who didn't like what they heard.

One day

One day I hope people realize that Kitsunami already "broke through his programming" back by issue #56 of Idw Sonic

He had an entire mini arc where he dealt with being without Surge for the first time, and in the real world. He met Sonic and his friends directly, tried to work out what his purpose would be without Surge in his life (gave it a shot trying to devote himself to Sonic, seeing him as the next best thing after Surge). And when it was all said and done, he decided after experiencing more that at Surge's side is where he wanted to be.

As of the recent IDW issues, Kit isn't sticking with Surge "because of programming" and "because he just needs for other characters to friend him and turn him into a better person". He is at her side because he wants to be. He protects her and aids her because he cares about her, not just because he's serving the strongest guy in the room. And he's not interacting with others because he's decided not to give a shit about anyone else other than Surge (because from his pov, even the "good guys" are fake. From his pov, everyone is someone trying to lie and manipulate their way into pulling him and Surge to their side)

Kit already has decided what he wants to do with his life. And he decided it on his own. Not because of anyone else's wants or wishes. That's the whole point of his speech at the end of #56.

He's burying whatever his and Surge's past is and moving forward with his conviction to be with Surge because it's what he wants.

Were you out as trans to the Rabbi who managed your conversion? I'm Jewish and trans too (from birth tho), and I'm interested to know how it worked for you

I'm still in the process, but I have so far not told anyone about my being trans. I don't know... I just don't feel as though I need to qualify my manhood, if that makes sense. I've been finding in many of the largely cishet jewish spaces that I'm in that I feel more accepted even when I'm stealth than when I'm in non-jewish cishet spaces, so I really don't find it that big of a deal to make it Known. Obviously, it may be different when it comes to my rabbi, and it'll likely come up because I want to look into maybe an alternative to a brit (not out of requirement, out of my own want)... If you couldn't tell, I'm still trying to figure out what I want haha!

I guess the long and short of it is... It just works for me? It's rather boring the way it's been for me, and for that, I really am grateful. I know it's not the same for everyone, and I want to make it clear that this can absolutely coexist with having a really boring, uneventful experience with this.

Colleges should have sexual harassment training for all their students too. Adult students in the classroom should be held to the same behavioral standards that apply in the workplace.

That's mostly true, but this is only looking at bachelor's degrees and lumps different fields together in ways that slightly obscure the data.

Here's some data from APS, which shows that physics is only 20-25% women (a more skewed gender ratio than engineering!). And math is pretty equal at the bachelor's and master's levels, but math PhDs still skew male.

I think @transgenderer's graph lumps chemistry and physics together under "Physical Sciences", and so chemistry's (which I think is more common than physics for BS degrees) gender parity rubs off on the category overall?

Anyway, it's definitely true that biology, chemistry, and undergrad mathematics are fairly close to equal these days.

ok i know this is an ancient debate but i always feel like takes about women in STEM have never seen this graph. engineering and computer science are very weird outliers! math and physics have almost double the women! like i mean, there are obvious patterns in the distribution here. but engineering and CS buck those patterns, they have something else entirely going on, culturally
