An overworker who so desperately wants someone to tell them to take a break, because they so badly want one and they know they need one but they can't give themself one.
They work themself sick, yet still, with a blanket wrapped around their shivering form, pale skin as white as the blanks that their foggy mind keeps drawing, and a crimson flush on their warm, tear-stained cheeks, they keep working.
Their partner checks on them.
"Oh...! Oh, honey. Oh, my baby. I didn't know it was this bad..." They rush closer and wrap their arms tight around their sick sweetheart and whisper, "Honey, please stop. You've done enough, you need to rest."
Finally given permission to have a break, they simply melt into their partners arms, practically going limp like a tired little ragdoll. "...okay..." is all they manage to mumble before sleep finally wins the battle that'd been going for weeks.
They're carried from their desk to their bed, covers are layed over them, they're tucked in nice and snug, and when they wake up, they'll probably cry. This is exactly what they needed someone to do.

The most cold, blunt, reserved, imperious characters going completely soft when their cinnamon roll partner gets sick >>>>
Cuddles, pet names, spoiling them to heaven and back. Absolutely no regard for pride, all they're focused on is making sure their poor, sick little sweetheart doesn't have to lift a finger until they're fully recovered.

Something I've been thinking about lately when it comes to team whump:
A usually strong, rigid, and reliable teammate being carried back to base by the team leader, looking like a limp ragdoll in their arms.
The whole team is huddled around their unconscious teammate, witnessing the very first time anyone's ever seen them so... small. This person has always been the team's source of safety and security, and up until now everyone else had forgotten just how young they are.

When a character is feeling super sick and shitty but they don't have a fever, so they aren't taking it seriously or resting because to them, they aren't really sick unless there's visible proof. Maybe it comes from when they were growing up, and their family never took their illness seriously unless there was a fever. Maybe they would accuse them of lying to get out of things. So now, they worry if that really is the case. They work themselves to the bone and feel like they're going to collapse, but they aren't really sick unless they have a fever.
Bonus points if they have a partner who cares about their well-being, and as soon as they see them in the state they're in, they immediately make a fuss and insist that they rest. The character somehow feels good, even though they don't want their partner worrying, because someone is finally making it a big deal. It's finally real, it's finally serious.

A character taking care of their small, weak, half-conscious partner when they fall dangerously ill. Treating them like they're the most fragile thing in the world, as if they would just crumble or shatter if even the slightest breeze blew on them too hard. The complete silence that fills the room, only ever being broken by quiet coughs or pathetic little whimpers or a soft "Shh... I know, baby... I know..."
Hovering over them, constantly doing things and checking things and taking care of things, never ever sitting down even for a second until their partner is fully recovered.
If they were to do so much as turn their head, or try to talk, or move their hand, they'd get a panicked "Oh-- Shh... Stay still, baby..."

Caretaker is basically pinned where they are in bed, unable to move lest they wake up Sickie, who has finally fallen asleep in their arms after days of suffering restless and wide awake. Caretaker accepts that they won't be able to reach for anything for a while, and accepts their fate as Sickie's new snuggle pillow for the time being.

(Sickie is laying in bed, arguing with dorm roommate Caretaker who's insisting on staying to take care of them.)
"You're not gonna skip classes just because I'm sick!"
"Yes, I am."
"No, you're not!"
"Yes, I am."
Annoyed, they quickly hoist themselves up to sit in bed, no longer laying down.
"NO, YOU'RE Nnn-..." *thump*
Too quickly. A rush of dizziness hits them and they flop right back down.
"Well that settles it, Sickie."
"nnngh... fine..."

Something about throwing up in bed just makes me go feral,, someone not making it to a meeting or something else in the morning, so a teammate or friend checks on them and they're fast asleep on their side with a pool of vomit on their sheets </3

The team sends one of the newer, younger ones out on a simple mission. However, just an hour after they've set off, the weather takes an unexpected turn for the worst. As the snow piles up, the team debates on whether or not to go and find them. Some say that this is just part of what it takes to be on this team, and others say that they're too inexperienced to handle a mission in a raging winter storm.
As more time is wasted, the snow falls faster.
Eventually, a small search party lead by the team leader is formed to find their missing teammate. Hours go by with no such teammate in sight. They start losing hope, until someone notices a tiny dot in the distance of the vast, snow-covered field they're in. It takes them a second to realize what it is. Then they run as fast as they can, the dot growing bigger.
It's their teammate, curled up into a tiny little ball, shivering violently, half-submerged under over two feet of snow. Everyone is more than relieved to have finally found them, but also incredibly worried about what's to come.

B simply cannot afford to call off work to take care of A, but A is looking much better than yesterday thanks to B's caretaking so B tries hard to convince themself that everything will be fine while they're gone and A's fever will subside by the time they're back.
Hours later, B comes back from their shift to find A still in bed, curled up in a little ball under the covers shivering violently, a sheen of sweat over their burning forehead and tear tracks running down their pale face. In a panic, B immediately rushes to A's side.
"Shit," they mutter. "I never should've left you alone. Oh god, I'm so sorry..."

Favourite sick fic trope?
AA DIDN'T SEE THIS i will answer now, will most likely turn into a very l o n g list bc i get carried away easily haha plus i am EEPY so i will ramble
so ya, my favorite tropes and also some random scenarios i came up with added to the mix
a is the sickie, i always make a the sickie i have no idea why
When they're on a date and B caresses A's cheek or holds A's hand or anything like that, and it's like so unnaturally hot that B stops being romantic, their expression shifts to one of concern as they move their hand up to A's forehead and feels burning heat.
Cool cloth being gently placed onto A's forehead as they're half asleep in bed, and like 10 minutes later the cloth is lukewarm because the heat from A's forehead warmed it up. B has a bowl of ice water on A's nightstand, they wring out the cloth and re-soak it in cold water and place the folded cloth back onto A.
B going to A's apartment in the afternoon because A hasn't responded to any calls or texts all day. They open the door to A's room and find them out cold on their bed, laying curled up on their side, a puddle of vomit on their mattress in front of their sleeping face. Oh, that's why...
"Guyss, I... p-promise I'm fi--" *collapses*
Every time A blinks, B is in a different spot above them doing different things; reaching to feel their forehead, holding a thermometer, measuring medicine... A starts to wonder if the brief moments their eyes are closed are actually a lot longer than they think.
Sick and overworked A is fast asleep at their desk, laptop still open, head resting on their arms. B takes off their jacket and puts it over A's shoulders. Bonus points if B mumbles "You work too hard..."
B is trying to piece together what on earth made A sick; there arent any bugs going around, neither of them ate any meat recently so it couldn't have been food poisoning, A already got their flu shot weeks ago... In reality, A has been hiding an infected wound from B this entire time.
Bilingual!A is quite delirious and is having a hard time remembering different words in the language they're speaking, and they keep tiredly replacing those words from one language with the other.
It's the middle of the night, and A tried to run to the toilet as fast as they could, but they weren't fast enough. With shaking hands, they open the door to the bedroom and sheepishly wake up their partner and mumble, "B... I c-couldnt make it *hic!* to t-the bathroom..."
A curling up into a tiny little ball in bed, they look so small and B's heart sinks to the floor.
B's eyes widening as they read the number on the thermometer; "Jesus, 104!?!?"
A sending hundereds of delirious, nonsensical texts to their friends, none of which they remember sending.
B entertaining A's delirious rambles, no matter what silly bs is coming out of A's mouth B is like "Yeah...? Mhm...?" with an exasperated smile on their face.
B carrying A to bed, tenderly placing them down as if they're the most fragile thing in the world, like they'd just break if B wasn't as gentle as possible.

Imagine you and your cinnamon roll comfort character (or just two of your cinnamon roll comfort characters) together sick with the same bug snuggling in the same bed all sleepy and miserable. Looking like tiny sleeping kittens. Just sick little blanket lumps.

Someone who just recently joined a friend group getting bombarded with get well texts and stories from everyone when they're at home sick.
And just. Crying. Maybe because they're more sensitive from the fever, or maybe because they truly didn't know they were loved until that moment.

Every group has the "caretaker". Whether it be the medic in a team, the "mom friend" in a friend group, or the responsible one in a relationship, there's always one person who knows exactly what to do. So, what happens when they're the one who needs caretaking? This could go a number of different ways, but this is a fluff blog...
The group spends time recalling all the ways Caretaker has helped them, all the times Caretaker has been there for each of them whenever someone wasn't doing so great. They slowly figure out what to do by remembering what Caretaker had done for them.
When they get to the other side of it, not only does the group develop a newfound appreciation for Caretaker, but Caretaker realizes that the people they care so deeply about also care about them just the same.
