Imagine fucking romanticizing POTS 💀. It's a real chronic illness and for you to treat it like it's some cute thing to write headcanons about is insane. You and I will never have to experience the pain and suffering that people with chronic illnesses/disabilities experience on the daily, you are extremely privileged and disgusting. This is exactly what's wrong with the whump/sickfic community. Stop romanticizing and dare I say sexualizing disabilities.

Midoriya and Bakugo both managing to get themselves sick during a mission, but neither one wanting to admit it. Bakugo refuses to show any sign of what he considers "weakness" while Midoriya prioritizes the mission over his own wellbeing. However, both of them realize the other is unwell, and they end up trying to force each other to rest while denying their own sickness

Ohh this is so good!!

At the end they just... rest together...

They don't even suggest it, they just end up being like "...whatever" and snuggling, then just promising eachother to pretend it never happened.

anon you have no idea how long ive been waiting for this day to come thank you so much for the opportunity

Of course he has to go long periods of time without eating for his ability to work, so he gets dizzy and forgetful and headaches sometimes when he has to go too long without having anything

Because of this he's always really dizzy when he stands up, whoever's going anywhere with him is patient when he has to take 10 seconds to just stand there after getting up

He's never really complained all that much about it since his ability was very much needed in Ihatov, but after that one anthology chapter he was encouraged to be more vocal about his needs

The first few times he rode in a car he got reeally motion sick :( and still does a little bit but it gets better every time

Because of those symptoms he experiences when he doesn't eat, he won't catch onto the fact that he's running a fever at first. He could excuse the flush of his cheeks and the heat of his forehead as a weird sunburn, and the nausea from a car ride earlier; it'll take him passing out or throwing up for the others to really put the pieces together.

Since he grew up on unprocessed food and raw milk and things like that, his stomach has a hard time with overly processed and artificially flavored things

He's definitely prone to hay fever the poor guy :(

He forgets to drink water so when someone hands him water he like chugs the entire thing like he's the guy from those asmr tiktoks with the like frog eggs or whatever they are you know what I'm talking about

He takes like. 20 mini 5-minute power naps a day minus the naps after missions so you can look over at his desk and there's like a 50/50 chance he'll be eepin

This is unrelated to sickfic but he's gotten in trouble with the law more than once for ripping road signs out of the ground.. kenji people need those

If he has a high fever he spends 90% of the time out like a light and the other 10% crying

Whump that includes characters vomiting :( There's so many potentials, ie throwing up from being too nervous, upset etc and the caretaker going 'hey, hey it's alright, it's not real.'

or just the typical sickfic where characters can't keep food down and they're just getting more and more ill while the caretaker tries to make them as comfortable as possible

And when a typical tough guy character actually has to rely on others because they just cannot keep anything down and they feel sick and oh my god its so cute seeing them open up to others for once

Favourite sick fic trope?

AA DIDN'T SEE THIS i will answer now, will most likely turn into a very l o n g list bc i get carried away easily haha plus i am EEPY so i will ramble

so ya, my favorite tropes and also some random scenarios i came up with added to the mix

a is the sickie, i always make a the sickie i have no idea why

When they're on a date and B caresses A's cheek or holds A's hand or anything like that, and it's like so unnaturally hot that B stops being romantic, their expression shifts to one of concern as they move their hand up to A's forehead and feels burning heat.

Cool cloth being gently placed onto A's forehead as they're half asleep in bed, and like 10 minutes later the cloth is lukewarm because the heat from A's forehead warmed it up. B has a bowl of ice water on A's nightstand, they wring out the cloth and re-soak it in cold water and place the folded cloth back onto A.

B going to A's apartment in the afternoon because A hasn't responded to any calls or texts all day. They open the door to A's room and find them out cold on their bed, laying curled up on their side, a puddle of vomit on their mattress in front of their sleeping face. Oh, that's why...

"Guyss, I... p-promise I'm fi--" *collapses*

Every time A blinks, B is in a different spot above them doing different things; reaching to feel their forehead, holding a thermometer, measuring medicine... A starts to wonder if the brief moments their eyes are closed are actually a lot longer than they think.

Sick and overworked A is fast asleep at their desk, laptop still open, head resting on their arms. B takes off their jacket and puts it over A's shoulders. Bonus points if B mumbles "You work too hard..."

B is trying to piece together what on earth made A sick; there arent any bugs going around, neither of them ate any meat recently so it couldn't have been food poisoning, A already got their flu shot weeks ago... In reality, A has been hiding an infected wound from B this entire time.

Bilingual!A is quite delirious and is having a hard time remembering different words in the language they're speaking, and they keep tiredly replacing those words from one language with the other.

It's the middle of the night, and A tried to run to the toilet as fast as they could, but they weren't fast enough. With shaking hands, they open the door to the bedroom and sheepishly wake up their partner and mumble, "B... I c-couldnt make it *hic!* to t-the bathroom..."

A curling up into a tiny little ball in bed, they look so small and B's heart sinks to the floor.

B's eyes widening as they read the number on the thermometer; "Jesus, 104!?!?"

A sending hundereds of delirious, nonsensical texts to their friends, none of which they remember sending.

B entertaining A's delirious rambles, no matter what silly bs is coming out of A's mouth B is like "Yeah...? Mhm...?" with an exasperated smile on their face.

B carrying A to bed, tenderly placing them down as if they're the most fragile thing in the world, like they'd just break if B wasn't as gentle as possible.

I loooove thinking about the dynamics between the characters in MHA, this show is a goldmine for sickfics. 

Once they move into the dorms, everyone is interacting with each other all the time. Colds would spread easily with how close class 1a is 

Characters that aren’t familiar with needing to be taken care of clashing with characters that would be all over their classmates with no hesitation if they found out they were sick

Characters that are less than naturally caring having to take care of a classmate bc no one else is around for whatever reason

Characters that would try to fight through it and inevitably make themselves feel worse

There are a lot of pairings in the show, and a lot of them have great dynamics for sickfics.

Some of my personal favorites include but are not limited to: 

Midoriya and Ururaka (they’re both sweethearts, they would be so so so gentle and caring with each other)

Midoriya and Bakugo (they’re both so terrible at communicating that they end up fighting the whole time, but it’s clear they both care about each other and want the sickie to feel better as soon as possible)

Tamaki and Togata/Hado (there is no way Tamaki hasn’t gotten sick from using his quirk too much, there is simply no way. Good thing he has two friends that would absolutely take care of him and help him feel better, no matter how embarrassed he may get)

Monoma and Shinso (No matter the situation, Monoma is dramatic and Shinso is deadpanned. If Shinso wants Monoma to shut up, he can just use his quirk on him, and if Monoma wants Shinso to stop resisting being taken care of and stay under the damn blanket, he can use his quirk and copy Shinso’s. There a lot of potential with the brainwashing quirk.)

And then of course there’s the wonderful world of illness affecting quirks!

Todoroki — If he had a fever, could he cool himself down with his right side? Would his left side make it worse?

Bakugo — If he had a fever and was sweating a lot, would he accidentally make explosions and have to be careful what he touched?

Tamaki — Bless this guy’s soul, if he caught a stomach bug he would be SO screwed

Oh these are all so good!! No need to feel embarrassed, I enjoyed it! I especially love thinking about how bugs could spread in the dorms, oh and how flu season would be...

A personal hc I have about Todoroki is that if he gets a fever, one of his sides activates, 50/50 on which one. He'll either be insanely hot and sweaty, or freezing cold. And it's more intense depending on how high the fever is, and his other side wouldn't be able to help with it.

So if it's a low fever, he'd either be sweating buckets, face bright red, just miserable and no amount of AC or ice packs can cool him down... Or, wracked with chills, constant shivering, under a pile of blankets in a little cocoon...

I haven't thought about high fevers with his hot side, but with his cold side he'd also leave a trail of ice wherever he went, frosty breath, just sooo cold... poor guy

kunkida sick headcanons?😲😲

Right off the bat, he's still going to work. He's doing everything he'd written in his notebook the night prior, and nothing, not even a high fever, will get in his way.

I think he'd be a lot more irritable than usual if he had a bad headache, wanting to get things done as quickly as possible so he can just take a mf breather.

Either that or when Dazai is being Dazai and starts to annoy Kunikida as usual, instead of the usual angry response, he's met with a quiet "Dazai... Please, just... not today."

And OHHH how he'd be on missions. If he were to get nauseous, he wouldn't want to burden whoever he's with, and he definitely wouldn't want them to insist he goes home.

So let's say at the end of a fight, or even just walking to or from an important meeting, he may unexpectedly say "Hold on, I'll be right back," and make a dash for the nearest bathroom, forest, or garbage can where no one is near and just let it out. He'd come back and pretend nothing happened.

He might blame coughing on the dry air, or choking on water, but it ends up happening so often that no one is buying it anymore, especially when the coughs get really bad. The coughing could get so deep that it makes him nauseous all over again.

What ends up really setting people off is when his words start to not make a lot of sense. He might talk slower, or mix up his words, and sometimes not even notice.

Oh and his writing. Shaky, messy penmanship, reports are incredibly vague and not nearly as detailed or professional as usual, and he hasn't even touched his notebook since he arrived this morning. Or imagine he gets the time wrong if someone asks, because his vision is just so unfocused that he can't see the hands of his watch correctly.

Eventually someone like Dazai or Atsushi just insists on him going home, and that's just the last bit of confirmation he needs to prove he can just rest.

And once he's stumbled back into his apartment, he flops right onto his futon, not even bothering to set an alarm for tomorrow morning; just wiped out immediately before his head even hits the pillow. When he doesn't show up on time the next day, no one bugs him about it. He needs his rest.

BONUS:

He is usually a very light sleeper, able to be woken up by even the quietest things. But when he's sick, he's out like a light and there's no hope in waking him.

He canonically gets neck and shoulder cramps often, and I can imagine they get much worse with added body aches from a fever. Everything is all stiff and sore, it's so uncomfortable and he has to be very careful with how he moves or else it'll flare up and just make him so miserable (Oh IMAGINE Dazai giving him a shoulder massage. How good that would feel. All the tension just dissipates from his muscles, and he can finally relax his shoulders).

He probably looks really good with his hair down just sayinggg... Sometimes I imagine him without that fuck ass rat tail of a haircut and instead all his hair is long; what if he put it in a lil messy bun when he's at home......

hii!! are you comfortable with sickfic and/or crying/comfort saimatsu headcanons? with kaede as the hurt/sickie/crying and shuichi as the caretaker/comforter?

YIPPEE ok so i'm writing these in the context of the killing game, but in theory these can work in both the kg and any non-despair au. this was lots of fun!!

Shuichi is a very anxious caretaker. He takes things waay too seriously and panics at any sign that Kaede's condition could be getting worse. Cannot sit still, paces around the room a lot.

Shuichi is very adamant about Kaede staying in bed. ("Oh, it's not that bad." "I know, but it will become that bad if you exert yourself! We can't have that, not in a place like this.") Just so uncharacteristically stern about it.

When Kaede is awake, she's constantly assuring Shuichi that she'll be okay. Partially because he really needs to hear it right now, but also to convince herself. Even as she gets worse, she still slurs out a weak "...'m fine...", using the energy she has to force a lil smile.

Otherwise, Kaede is sound asleep. It's quite a vulnerable moment for the two of them; Kaede is always so full of life and Shuichi is always so cautious, but right now they're both so quiet and their guards are fully down. Maybe Shuichi can finally just cry a little once Kaede is unable to see or hear him.

Shuichi is really awkward when it comes to physical affection, but a delirious or half-asleep Kaede just melts into any touch he gives her, smiling and closing her eyes.

At first, Shuichi is really worried about getting sick himself, but after a while he's all snuggled up beside her. Or maybe Shuichi sits in bed next to her and she clings to him and won't let him leave xD

Ouugh a delirious confession would be SO GOOD with these two...

Shuichi feels like he can finally settle down once Kaede starts feeling noticeably better. He can relax in a chair and sigh with relief, closing his eyes and just resting for a bit. Kaede sees this and is happy, doing her best not to wake him with any loud coughing.

Ah yes!! Hi 🌀 anon :)

Might be a tad short I'm pretty tired and also a bit rusty ahah

Because of the orphanage, Atsushi never really found reason to make a fuss out of being sick. He was always brushed off, sometimes even punished for not working as hard, so even after he gets much more comfortable with the other agency members, he still just doesn't say anything out of habit and instinct.

It's pretty easy to tell, though. He gets tired and flushed, stumbling over his words and unusually quiet. I can imagine him falling asleep at his desk and someone like Kunikida having to carry him back to his room.

He would definitely have fever dreams about the orphanage, much more weird and scary than his usual nightmares. He'd wake up in a delirious panic, and Kunikida (who had stayed by his side to watch over him) would have to give the poor boy reassurance that he's safe and okay.

He'd be a lot more open to physical touch than usual, accepting a head pat for a headache or an arm around his back/waist when he's unsteady on his feet.

Hm, this ended up being longer than I thought... Lmk if you wanna hear about some other characters! I'm not the biggest Atsushi stan so I couldn't get as creative :(

consider Akutagawa passing out in front of Atsushi and being unconscious for several minutes while Atsushi is like panicking and has no idea what to do. Akutagawa finally comes out of it and he's super sluggish being like I'm fine it just happens sometimes 🙄 and Atsushi is like okay absolutely not we are not just brushing that off

Yeah Aku's always gonna be one to downplay his condition no matter how bad it gets. He could cough up a whole lung and tell Atsushi or Higuchi that it's normal and just happens sometimes. The poor frail little victorian child...

I also have a disorder that makes me cough, and when it gets really bad I sometimes cough so hard it makes me really nauseous and I need to run outta the room and make a dash for the bathroom. I'll come back and just be like "my bad chat" 😭😭

uhm here's some of my sickzai hcs since you wanted any hcs :3

• usually he acts like sick just to slack off work so no one believes him when he's actually sick. he doesn't mind it bc he don't want anyone to worry about him. but they realizes his condition is really bad when he faints all of a sudden in middle of a work

• he refuses to see a doctor no matter what (even yosano). he says he doesn't need that (he in fact needs that). even if he goes to hospital or lets yosano treat him, he avoids from needles at all costs (this is semi-canon btw)

• he's used to high fever so when his fever is 38-39° he doesn't even notice or care about and only goes home until kunikida randomly finds out it

eh i'll write more abt another character or dazai again maybe. byee for now <3

I can def imagine him faking sick to slack off at the Agency, so ofc no one believes him when he actually shows up with a fever. Maybe Atsushi is like "hey, wait, he actually is acting strange" and Kunikida brushes him off, telling him that "he just does this sometimes".

And then later in the day, Dazai just faints. Yosano confirms he really is burning up, and Kunikida feels terrible. He's been brushing him off all day, accusing him of lying, and he's actually been terribly sick the whole time? He's gonna have some real apologizing to do when Dazai wakes up.

Oh! I have an idea but I have no clue where to go with it. Asthma that makes characters have barking coughs when the air is too cold? Something like that? Because it happens to me and I hate it. The feeling of never getting relief, lightheadedness from the strange breathing patterns, etc.

OH and accidentally messing up when you take your inhaler so you can't even use that anymore (:

I dunno. I feel like someone could go somewhere with that but I'm not sure.

I just don't see much asthma rep because it isn't really seen as a disability (I mean, unless it actually doesn't count, in which case I apologise) and is also typically associated with little kids.

raahh yes!! i know exactly what you're talking about, my asthma was a lot worse when i was younger and this would happen all the time in the cold (but now i have a different cough-related illness so i'm still allowed in the club‼️). ouhh imagine pairing this with an injury like a bruised or broken rib.. coughing just hurts so much.

and yes, panic attacks with asthma are brutal. your body wants to hyperventilate but you just. cant. so it's like it closes in and you can't breathe at all.

i love headcanoning kunikida with the weakest stomach ever... he can just not digest stuff well at all

it's obviously extra bad because he's stressed all the time, but even when he's not actively working himself to the ground, his tummy hates him :(

he's constantly uncomfy at work, especially after lunch because his tummy gets very bloated and achy and he's nauseous from the indigestion. He def needs to lie down for a bit after eating but he never lets himself </3

Hi, i'm a fan of your blog and I saw that general asks afre open and I also saw that you have mentioned that you have chronic illnesses, and I was wondering what they Are? Because I have a friend who has one. If your not comfortable answering this feel free to delete!

Sure, I can answer that!

So I have three chronic illnesses. One is called POTS, one is called cyclic vomiting syndrome, and one is called vocal chord dysfunction.

POTS stands for Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. It means my autonomic nervous system doesn't work as it should. Symptoms include dizziness/lightheadedness and extreme increase in heart rate that gets worse when standing (and the risk of fainting), heart palpitations, fatigue, brain fog, nausea/vomiting, headaches, sweating/poor temperature regulation, and shakiness.

Cyclic vomiting syndrome is a condition where I experience cycles of severe nausea and vomiting (among other symptoms like stomach pain, headaches, and light sensitivity) that occur in episodes lasting from a few hours up to a few days, for me usually 1-6 days about once a month. Outside of these episodes, symptoms are little to none (the damn light sensitivity never leaves though). I also get abdominal migraines, which are like migraines but the pain is in your stomach.

Vocal chord dysfunction, despite the name, doesn't have to do with your voice (thank god). It means that I get muscle spasms and contractions in my throat, causing occasional violent coughing fits and serious trouble breathing, as well as a constant cough. There's a small chance of it getting better when I'm in my 20s, but there isn't much I can do to treat it and it'll most likely stay with me all my life, even if it does get better :(

Honestly, thank you for giving me a chance to talk about this, I was able to clear my mind a bit. I hope this answers your question and I'm sorry for yapping. Thank you for being a fan of my blog!!

A always wakes up before B. And by always, I mean every day except for today. Instead, B wakes up to a shivering sensation coming from their side. They look over and see a shaking and incoherently mumbling pile of blankets.

"...Baby?" They slip their hand under the covers and touch A's shoulder. As soon as they do, they can feel unnatural heat from A's skin. Their expression instantly goes soft and their protective side kicks in.

"Wait, you're burning up, sweetie..." They continue to rub A's shoulder. "Oh no... oh, my poor baby. Wake up, my sleepyhead--"

All of a sudden, A jolts awake and pokes their head out of the little blanket ball that they were bundled up in. Their breathing is heavy and rapid, and they look around the room with a sense of fear and confusion that they've never expressed before.

"Wha... baby! Are you okay?!"

A spots B by their side and immediately slumps their small, quivering body against B's sturdy, comforting one, smushing their pale and flushed face into B's chest, wrapping their arms around B's waist and holding on for dear life.

B puts a hand on top of A's head and starts to gently pat their hair. "Hey... Baby, baby, tell me what's going on. Did you have a bad dream?"

Insteak of a coherent response, B gets a pathetic little squeak, followed by a few weak coughs right into their shirt. They start to piece things together, just as A starts to cry.

"Oh, my poor little baby... I need you do do something for me, okay? Just look at me for a second."

A lifts their head from B's chest and does their best to focus on B's face while they continue to talk to them.

"Alright, good job," B says in a soft voice, "Do you know where we are right now, my sweetling?"

"I...," A croaks between heavy breaths, "N-No..."

B's brows furrow slightly as A starts to lose focus, their puffy eyes wandering about as if their vision is spinning.

"A, I need you to look around for me, okay? Look around the room and tell me where we are."

"We... *cough! cough!* ugh... We're in, uh... Our room."

"That's right, my love. You're safe, I'm safe, and nothing can hurt you here. But that cough doesn't sound good at all..."
