I've been keeping tabs on the 1999 update since I won't be able to play it again for a couple weeks. First off, I love the protoframes. I was shocked to realise that some I'd written off were actually quite endearing to me. They're nothing like what I expected them to be and its quite entertaining to watch.

While I know its bare bones compared to most, I'm kind of liking the romance system. I can't wait to dive into all the dialogue later...

That being said, I'm now convinced that we, that is the Drifter, may or may not have helped the Hex discover a weird possession kink. Some of their gemini skin romance dialogue shows they're weirdly into you occupying their brainpan whenever you summon them.

So what is armor on the protoframes and what isnt? I thought everything Amir had on him WAS his skin-turned-infested aside from the tactical webbing and stuff, but his chest piece? His hands? His shoes and leg pieces? I thought that was all cemented into him. I know he has zippers on his legs and arms, but are they there functionally or are they just part of his “skin”? Or is the black part the infestation and the rest just happens to be armor they put together that looks very similar to Volt’s infested skin? How did the Hex design specific armor pieces that look exactly like their paired Warframes in the future? I write xreaders and I GOTTA know. So many questions. I know they have functional genitalia, digestive systems, etc etc, so its not all infested, but how does it all come off? Rivets? Buckles? Snap-in pieces?

Alright, everyone who watched the dev stream! Prodiction time! We won't get answers til last Friday of February, but it is all in good fun. If you had to guess or had a desire frame to be a protoframe, what would it be. Up to four answers only since that is kinda what we are getting.

Not sure how I feel about other frames getting "protoframes" as a thing.

That said, Jade 100% deserves a "protoframe" form that lets more of the OG Jade come out. Give her more voice/story then she has now.

OKAY abt to go to sleep but i need to write this down before i forget. i think yeah all protoframes are some parts armor some parts their actual skin, but:

Personally, I think their helminth injection started in the spine, where it started to spread from there. So everything on their back (arthur, for example, has a lot of spinal protection, especially up against his cranium), a good portion of their legs, and some portions of their midsection and upper arms are actually their transformed skin.

it obviously varies here and there between each protoframe, but in spinal injections the effects could last much longer in the body (bypasses the liver directly, preventing second-pass metabolism).

Especially more effective since it has direct access to the entire body's nervous system, so I'm thinking its a spine-centered growth- even if there are good bits of human meat left on there, almost all if not all of their bones have been heavily fortified along with their general underlying muscle tone and strength.

this, then of course led to their development of warframe-adjacent athleticism and abilities. (Spine and legs having to be transformed for increased ability for bullet jumping, for example.)
