Took the opportunity to download Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid yesterday. It's a fun but barebones fighting game with more content forthcoming that is locked behind a $14.99 season pass. The initial fighters include versions of the #MMPR Green, Black, Pink, & Red rangers, Goldar, the #PRMegaForce Yellow ranger, #PRLostGalaxy 's Magna Defender, the #PRSPD Kat ranger, and the fan favorite Lord Darkkon. Outside of the lack of content, my biggest issue is the overall silence of the game. For a show that heavily uses music to set the theme, the game is surprisingly lacking in this area as most of the music is generic and forgetable. Also would it have killed them to have at least added voices to the fighters in the cut scenes at least? I felt like I was fighting with a bunch of mimes. Power Rangers SPD fic recs

Someone asked if I could recommend my fav SPD fanfics and I’m glad to oblige =) The heyday of SPD fic for me was during the Livejournal golden age, so while some may be lost to the Internet depths, many have thankfully made it into the fic archives for perpetuity.

Personal Power Rangers Headcanons

MMPR/MMAR: The Alien Rangers are the original power rangers:

Zordon knows who they are, they have power coins, their powers match Ninjor’s that's it, that’s all I have.

MMPR/MMAR: The Shogun Zords initially belonged to the Alien Rangers and were lost. 

The colours match, and we know that Aquitar has a fountain of youth/ healing water. The battle-borgs are virtually identical to the Shogun Zords

MMPR/MMAR: The last of the Dragonzord’s energy was used for the Ultrazord

We can see the DragonZord chest plate on the Ultrazord and I believe Zordon said that the DragonZord’s energy would deplete without the green ranger.

MMPR/MMAR: Tommy’s evil clone is the “original” owner of the Power Coin, and Rita steals that one. 

We know that the power coins can be created without Ninjor, when Zordon creates the White Ranger coin, but I like to believe that Rita stole Clone-Tommy’s coin, just to tie up that little plot-hole about two power-coins existing at the same time. That’s why both the Green and White ranger’s have shields. 

Zeo/Turbo: The Zeo Crystal became too dangerous to use.

This one’s a little long. The Zeo Crystal reportedly gets stronger and stronger over time, so what if the team created the Turbo powers to deal with Divatox because they believed that she would be a long term threat? When Tommy loses his Green Ranger powers, it affects him physically, which to me always implied that the Power was literally always with them, in their bodies. When Kimberly travel;s back in time, Zordon says that “Too much Pink Energy is Dangerous”, so why wouldn’t too much Zeo Energy be dangerous too?

PRLR: The Lightspeed Rescue Zords are built from the destroyed Turbo ones.

I read this idea, I dig it.

PRTF: Alex is a clone of Wes.

This is the only way that I can make sense of Wes and Alex both being able to use the DNA morpher without reverse-engineering it.

PRSPD: This season takes place in the “Dark Future” of Timeforce

This is probably the darkest one. We know that Wes dies in one of the time-lines, so what if SPD takes place in the dark future? The SPD red ranger that is Sky’s dad has a Time Force suit, and we know that Wes’s dad was studying the Quantum Morhpher. This would also explain why people don’t like cyborgs like S.O.P.H.I.E. since robots almost destroyed the planet.
