not that there arent valid criticisms to be made for mortal kombat (specifically for mk1 especially), mechanically or otherwise, you will never convince me that the majority of melodramatic moaning you see online about it isnt just ps vs xbox type "my game better than your game" brand loyalty bs

handheld consoles are literally the best devices I don't care about your "ps5" or your "xbox". the ps vita and the nintendo 3ds are 10000x better than any of those consoles. fight me.

As Square Enix changes it's strategy from focusing on one platform to aiming for multi-platform releases, I wonder- how much effort does it take to do multiplatform dev from the start versus porting to them later? And even then- how long DOES it take / cost to make to make a port from a comparative platform like say, PS5 to Xbox Series? Is there a way you can use your experience in the industry to guess an average, or is it completely different from game to game and you can't make any estimations without WAY more data? I guess I'm just curious why SquareEnix released 15 for all formats to greater sales than either XVI or VIIremakes, but still decided to go PS first, others way later down the line.
The good news is that the PS5 and the XSX aren't too far away from each other in terms of hardware power and architecture. Further, developing on XSX also mostly works out of the box with DirectX, which means it is easy to also get the game running on PC. It's relatively easy to build a game out of a generic system and task our engine programmers with getting that generic system working on each of our target platforms.
Tumblr media
The difficulty in multiplatform development comes from trying to get the same generic system to run on drastically different hardware power profiles or architectural differences (commonly known as the Nintendo problem). If we have a game that assumes the player's hardware have at least 16GB of RAM and an 8-core 3.5GHz CPU and we suddenly have to fit that game into 4GB of RAM and a 1GHz 4-core CPU, we've got to make a lot of drastic changes in order to get the game running at all. I'm fond of saying that porting PS/Xbox games to Nintendo hardware is trying to get an entire Honda Accord to fit inside a Mini-Cooper.
Tumblr media
The general rule when estimating the cost of making a change is how early during the process the change is made. The earlier in the process the change is made, the cheaper the cost of the change. Making a change to a movie before it's cast and shot is much easier and cheaper than making a change after the filming is complete. Making the decision for a project to go multiplatform from the jump means that the entire project will be built with maintaining multiplatform stability as a major goal. This means that further decisions will be made with that goal in mind - the team might spend those resources elsewhere instead of optimizing for certain platform-specific hardware features.
Tumblr media
As for why Square-Enix decided to go platform exclusive with FF16 and the FF7 Remakes, it is likely that Sony offered them a seemingly-better deal. Most third party publishers get a standard deal with the platform - the platform takes a 30% cut of all of the game's revenue, the game must pass certification, the platform gets some kind of exclusive content for that version of the game, and so on. If the platform wants to get an exclusive, they offer a better deal than that - maybe Sony agrees to pay for some of the marketing of the game, maybe Sony takes a smaller cut of the revenue, maybe Sony waives the certification costs on the publisher's next five Playstation games, and so on and so forth. These concessions and incentives are certainly worth considering. Sometimes they work out well for the third party, like Insomniac's Spider-Man games. Sometimes they don't.

Miss kendra would u reccomend getting a switch? Ive been think of getting back into video games but im not sure if i should get a handheld or a home console.
if a majority of the games you're interested in are switch exclusives its worth it, but if you want to play games that are also on steam, ps4/5, xbox etc i would recc getting a console bc the switch is the worst abt planned obselescence. like its the least durable system ive ever encountered in my life its actually infuriating.
good points:
if u like handheld gaming the switch lite is excellent. you can save $150, there a cute colors, and the battery life and graphics are excellent. going back to my ps vita after the switch is like whoaaa the display on the lite is just that good.
memory cards for switches arent too expensive and u can get a big sized one for a good deal and not have to worry about space
good game library. i got the switch to play persona strikers, botw, animal crossing, and god eater 3 and it was worth it....and most of these games were worth it
since the switch is super popular its easy to get pre owned units for a decent discount from reputable places
bad points:
the joycons on the switch WILL go out. like no ifs and or buts they get terminal levels of drift in a year, year and a half of any kind of regular play. nintendo knows this and they don't give a fuck. if you have a switch console they used to send u joycons replacements for free but if u have a lite they have to fix it and YES they will charge you :) i got a discount only bc i said i wasn't gonna pay $80 for their negligence.
also 4 or so years later the flap on the game slot has broken and the left trigger doesnt work on my lite. mind u my first ps vita is almost 12 years old and had NO hardware issues (only a memory card issue) and i put more work into that vita in one year than i have in 3 years w my switch. so just be mindful that you will have hardware issues guaranteed
-game prices. switch games rarely if ever go on sale even if theyre 400000 years old and its actually evil. if there are a lot of games u want to play im honestly gonna recommend getting a ps4/ps5 first bc u can get games on sale digitally and physically at a MUCH better price
-a LOT of switch exclusive games drop half baked. this is true of a lot of consoles but with the switch its even more egregious bc of the insane price point. i regret getting animal crossing when it dropped out of nostalgia bc it arrived w virtually no content. one of the newer story of seasons was wayyyyy too empty too easy etc etc. with switch exclusive games in particular you should always wait for unbiased reviews bc most of these games beyond botw dropped bare bones as hell

Then VS Now
I'm really interested in this thread, so I'm jumping in. And as it's Monday, I'm going to start with Virgile ! Virgile was born on XboX, after finishing my 100% game with Vanessa. I wanted another path, to try out netrunning and romance Panam, which was basically my baby blue when I created him.
Xbox [april - june, 2021]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Virgile was lucky enough to have a second-hand 4k TV to play with, unlike Vanessa. I wasn't looking to make a VP at the start, just take some photos for fun. Then I got my tumblr and I tried out a few things, with the limitations of the console, but I still have very fond memories of my photos, like this noir series that I still love, this photo in Mikoshi where I love this symmetry ^^. Virgile hasn't changed since the XboX, and I've always been happy with the way he looks.
PC 1 [june-december 2021]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The husband bought his brother's old PC, with an obsolete graphics card, but enough to play Cyberpunk. I discovered another world, with fewer limitations (but a lot more than today). I didn't know that you could turn the photomode for portraits, I used to capture them with PS. Despite an old graphics card, it takes some very nice photos, particularly in this netrunner den with its wonderful cold light, or Nix's office at the Afterlife. Then the card burnt out in December because I pushed it too hard …
PC 2 - last shots
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Poor Virgile, I neglected him a bit in 2023. I explored a lot of his NetWatch years and his darker side, as well as his affair with Evelyn because I'd started writing the fic (which I still have to continue). Virgil spends his time between the Badlands at sunset, or in dark, cold places. I've given him a bit of a cowboy look, like I'd already tried on the console, but also better netrunner clothes, with these suits I've made. Virgil doesn't have many mods, apart from hair, a facial complexion and cyberware, he's identical to the XboX. I've added a little brother who's been taking centre stage lately, but I really like my baby blue, I really want to take more photos of him.
And it starts with this little post, so that you can see his evolution before seeing his new adventures!

Hello! This is the same anon who ASKED the question about the demo release and the final product (I have chosen to reveal myself Muahaha)! I am actually seeing alot of anon asks similar to the last one that has been going onto other blogs and annoying other creators.
I hope you take your time with writing Absentia. The premise itself got hooked! As I havent read much thriller and your IF was really interesting. As much as I am and I know many others are awaiting for the update, I know better than to rush art. Plus that and some people need to understand not everyone writes for a living.
I just came to offer my condolences concerning the issue ;-;
PS. Your face-claims for your characters REALLY got me questioning what gender to choose for them XD (theyre HAWT)
I don’t mind at all when people ask me for progress updates! I completely understand wanting to know— I get that way too when I’m waiting for a game to release (like when I preorder an Xbox game, I constantly check the status of it).
I’m so happy that you enjoy my story, and its premise, that’s such a wonderful thing to hear. It warms my heart every time to get messages like this— I truly appreciate them (and you). And don’t hesitate in asking me for status updates, I don’t mind answering them… It’s just the manner in which it’s asked that can decide the reaction that I, or any other content creator, may have to it. Truly, I’m honored when people are so excited to play my game they’d like to know when the next update will be.
Thank you for this message! It was very sweet of you to send it to me— I can’t wait for you to read the update of Chapter Two. (I also can’t wait for you to interact with more of the characters— I’m super excited for people to see them.)
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Just saw a logitech g25 selling for R$1600 (~US$300) (wheel, pedals, stick shift and a DIY plywood cockpit)
How do I kill captalism???? Also is there anything cheaper than that? (That is worth buying)
That's Brazilian Reals, right? (Damn, you Brazilians keep it so gangsta even your currency is real.)
I cannot offer advice on killing capitalism but I can offer advice on regulations! And one way to regulate high prices is through supply and demand, i.e. by not paying them.
Sim racing wheels -well these Logitechs anyway given their durability and old age- are something you absolutely want to buy used, so keep your eyes peeled on Listadecraig or whatever your local classifieds are: it may take time but some will pop up either close enough to you or able to ship and if you take your time and hedge your bets you're gonna strike a deal of some sort.
I mean, even capping our budget at R$1000 (at the edge of reasonable but still within it imo) hopping on OLX I found some 20 G27s. But oddly enough, only one G25? That's weird! I mean, there's like 10 between G29 and G920 (respectively, PS and Xbox oriented version of the same PC-compatible wheel - while they're not much better than the G27 and the shifter isn't included, both are newer and have more buttons and are thus valued more). Maybe the G25 is rare in Brazil for some reason, maybe it was never sold there? Idk. Point is, you may be better off looking for a G27 - I've seen one as low as R$650. Which, you know, I paid mine the equivalent of 425, but that was a bargain I had to hunt for months, and Brazil seems to be quite a different market. I don't know what your zone is and what shipping costs are like in your country but I would personally aim at R$800 - but that's mainly because it's half the G25 you found and I am someone that spite could push through mountains. You may be able to aim for even lower: you're gonna know your used markets the best, so check them yourself and I assure you you'll find a good deal at some point.
Sincerely wish you the best of luck, happy hunting!

top 5 videogame osts?
Picking just 5 is impossible so I’m going to go off and list as many as I want
Under the cut for obvious long reasons
Chrono trigger (SNES) - listened to this obsessively when I had the DS port (which is still imo the definitive way to play, just ignore the repetitive bonus postgame quests), yasunori mitsuda is a legend (he’s also one of the composers for dungeon meshi!). I cut my teeth learning to read sheet music in bass clef once I switched to bass guitar playing the soundtrack, I have essentially the entire thing transcribed on my ultimate-guitar (username XxThreeCheersxX, keep forgetting to hype my account up here but I’m a top 100 ranked tabber 😅) personal faves are those without the will to live (beautiful tritone bass slide makes me moan), the trial, and frog’s theme.
Castlevania: Harmony of Despair (PS/XBOX) - I have never played but know it’s a mediocre multiplayer game, however the soundtrack is fantastic, great rock and metal remixes of some of the most iconic tunes throughout the franchise. The series over all has some killer songs and composers who love funny time signatures so this is easily a “best of.” Castlevania Judgment, arguably an even worse game, also has a good soundtrack.
Undertale/Deltarune (many) - required to be on this list. Toby fox is phenomenal, so many great and memorable tracks. There is a reason megalovania is everywhere. Not a single bad song to be found, but personally my faves are fight against a killer queen, waterfall, world revolving, and undertale. Undertale especially is so impactful because they use an actual guitar on it and it just hits and makes it much more poignant. Fox is maybe the king of leitmotifs.
Dead Cells (many) - after putting so many hours into the game I only appreciate the soundtrack more and more, plus the option to have 8-bit themes is a treat. I love love the Bank theme and Fractured Shrines especially. Very tense and epic sounding. But the Castlevania dlc is phenomenal in so many ways and the music is no exception, always blows me away they’re doing what Konami wishes they could do in every aspect.
Donkey Kong Country 1 + 2 (SNES) - don’t get me wrong Eveline Fischer’s DKC3 snes soundtrack is pretty damn good but imo it doesn’t hit the peaks of David Wise’s ost. It kills me that the silly monkey platformer has some of the most beautiful and atmospheric music of all time. I’ve watched so many music videos on how he made the music and why it sounds so good… from the ambient and emotional aquatic ambience and bramble blast, to the epic final boss themes, that dark reprise of dk island swing in minecart madness, the jittery and unnerving tree top town, the foreboding welcome to krokodile island, the sweet and dreamy dkc2 ice theme… it has it all. Okay what the hell, I’ll mention wise’s remix of water world/aquatic ambience/(a special surprise) in the gba port of dkc3 (he had to redo the soundtrack for that port from scratch). And yes I’ll even throw in fischer’s best songs from snes dkc3 - her version of treetop tumble is way better and more somber than wise’s, water world is like you’re actually at the bottom of a lake and very moody, and nuts and bolts is a dirty rock song with a groovy bass. Good stuff!!!!
Grant Kirkhope’s stuff (many) - another favorite composer of mine, most famous for doing many rare n64 games like banjo 1 + 2, dk64, goldeneye, plus Mario rabbids 1 + 2 on switch and indie game yooka laylee. I’ve also watched many videos and studied many of his songs, he loves to use tritones and out of place dissonant notes not to make something creepy (well, sometimes creepy) but to make things whimsical and man it really works. Dk64 is my personal fav and seeing him reprise some of the themes for Mario rabbids dk dlc was truly special. I really want to do a write-up about the dk64 soundtrack on my site one day! There’s a lot of Easter eggs I’ve spotted that I haven’t seen many people mention! Highlights are creepy castle (it has the dk arcade start motif hidden!), frantic factory, and gloomy galleon from dk64, and from banjo 1 and 2, I love jinjo village, gruntilda’s lair, and banjo’s house blues.
Final fantasy x - most final fantasy games have good to great soundtracks but x is special to me. It’s my favorite ff game and the music really makes it all the more poignant. Zanarkand’s opening note is enough to make me tear up. The battle theme never grows stale unlike some other ff battle themes, besaid is calming and has the perfect vibes, the trials theme should be repetitive but instead feels very disconcerting and even claustrophobic, and auron’s theme is cool as hell. X-2 also has a good soundtrack, but I don’t think it’s quite as good as here.
Celeste (many) - Lena Raine’s soundtrack is phenomenal and the use of motifs is impeccable. Not a bad song in the entire game. Resurrections is my favorite as it’s a long piece that goes a lot of places and makes you drift along for the ride. The way Madeline and badeline’s motifs diverge is brilliant, matching what’s happening onscreen. I love how hesitant the piano in awake sounds, it makes it so heartfelt. Anxiety is dense and lives up to the title, Little Goth is less hesitant but darker… she just writes such beautiful melodies.
Metroid Prime (gcn) - they originally wanted Autechre, an ambient electronic duo, to do the soundtrack but things fell through for whatever reason so Kenji Yamamoto (who did Super Metroid) stepped up to take his place and god what a good soundtrack. Metroid music is very cool and I’ve made posts about it before, like how Metroid II has one of the most experimental soundtracks and kind of challenges the limits of the system and what can be considered game music, super Metroid has some of the most alien sounding songs thanks to weird time signatures and instrumentation. But Prime is crazy because they had the tech now to deliver Yamamoto’s vision. Magmoor Caverns is everyone’s favorite, remixing norfair, those drums just make me go wild every time. All the area themes are great and alien sounding, it’s a very isolating soundtrack, plus the boss themes and the space pirates and chozo ghosts themes are kind of terrifying in a good way.
Sea of Stars/Messenger (many) - 2 of my fav indie games with some of the most addictive songs. Sea of stars is a prequel so seeing variants of the messenger’s tracks was a true delight. Yasunori mitsuda also assisted with the soundtrack making some unforgettable pieces. I want to learn the majority of it on bass by ear!
Hollow knight (many) - somber piano and grand orchestrated pieces make this game go hard. The mantis lord battle is probably my favorite, it’s so majestic and fearsome and makes them a scary boss. I also appreciate the more ambient tracks around greenpath and city of tears. But the boss themes turn things up when needed to and makes a world feel even more alive, which is impressive.
Silent hill 2 (ps2) - Akira Yamaoka has such a great style to create heavy, melancholic or terrifying songs for the franchise but this game stands out the most to me, Laura’s theme and promise always move me no matter how many times I listen to them, very hurting electric guitars. I need to watch more vids on the games ost.
Legend of Zelda (Nintendo) - for this last one I’m not picking a specific game and getting into details for them all would be hard I’m already losing steam fast. So I’ll list my favs across the franchise. Ocarina of Time’s Gerudo Valley, Hyrule Field, and Lost Woods; Majora’s Mask’s Termina Field, Clock Town, and Stone Tower Temple; link’s Awakening’s Face Shrine; wind Waker’s dragon roost island, outset island and Gohdan’s theme; and tears of the kingdom’s colgera’s theme.

is fo4 worth it? been thinking abt it ever since seeing it in ps store but dbrnnffbxk i'm afraid of being disappointed or smth so asking u bc u have good vg opinions
HMMMM in my honest opinion I think it's one of those games that's definitely more fun with mods, I definitely don't think it's a BAD game but I also don't think I'd be able to play vanilla for an extended amount of time without getting bored 😭 Im bad at giving well thought out video game reviews so I'll break it down into pros and cons <3
pros:
dogmeat :)
the follower system is nice, more fleshed out than previous bethesda games bc your followers actually have unique dialogue and likes + dislikes. plus you can romance any/all of the companions
building off of the followers: nick valentine :)
the crafting system + settlement building system is a lot of fun, especially with mods that add new stuff to build
it's a good game for people who care more about the exploration & building/crafting aspect than the story imo, if you like to wander around and do side/faction quests and build stuff and upgrade things then you'll probably like it!!
the character creator is pretty good
comes with an optional "survival mode" for players who like a challenge and would like to experience fallout as a pseudo-survival-craft game
both console and pc players can use mods, though the selection of mods for playstation is significantly Less due to sony's restrictions
cons:
MY biggest personal gripe: i personally find the main story kinda Sucks. your character backstory is locked into a hetero marriage and your Offspring is kinda like, the big plot of the game fghfjhhff fo3 and fnv had way better protags imo. but it's still sandbox-esque so you dont HAVE to do the main quest, i just think it's lame 😵‍💫(there are some aspects of the main story that are cool so it's not that the WHOLE thing sucks. your companions & whatever factions you side with definitely make it better) so I use an alternate start mod LMAO
your companions make annoying comments about the player picking up trash when like. picking up trash is a significant part of the game (quit judging me valentine i need these plastic containers to put a roof over ur head!!!)
the game is poorly optimized, i had performance issues on both pc and xbox and I dont know if that ever got officially fixed by the devs 😭😭
YOU WILL at some point experience the horror of being in dialogue with an npc and then a deathclaw suddenly shows up and kills everybody in the area. such is the way of bethesda life
sometimes the map in fo4 feels a lot like quantity over quality. like there's TONS of stuff to do and buildings to explore but are all of them worth it??? perhaps Not

I love emulators very cool. I love FPGA/hardware emulators too very cooler. However my favorite thing is when some enterprising little bastards decide to re-create a whole console physically. That's badass. That's peak emulation to me right there. It can take original cartridges and disks? Mwah! It uses the original controllers? Hell yes! It interfaces with obscure original console accessories? Now you're just showing off! That's the dream, anyway.
Don't get me wrong PC emulation is great and I love you but even as a kid there were still games and consoles (mostly Nintendo tbh) that I knew I could emulate but still wanted to buy a real copy. The physical copies provided a felt, tactile difference in the play experience. Real buttons on a GBA vs a phone, the DS's screens and stylus, the 3DS's 3D; plus all of them had local multiplayer stuff that was hard to emulate. The Wii and Wii U had unique designs that are still hard to emulate properly, although we're much closer now; even the N64 isn't the same without its freakish Zaphod Beeblebrox controller, and Smash nerds are married to the Gamecube controller. Even MGS3 on the PS2 has some controls that rely on pressure-sensitive buttons (this is because Kojima is a genius). Of course some of that was just me having a collector's spirit and wanting to own physical copies, but I think there's definitely something to it that makes emulating the physical aspect of games just as worthwhile as the software.
The physicality and tactile design of games is underrated when it comes to talking about game design in general. Everyone will complain if a controller is uncomfortable or breaks down, but the solutions are treated as obvious and expected, when I doubt most people could actually tell you what design a controller needs to last hundreds on hundreds of game-hours without degradation to itself or its players' variably-sized hands. Add on "while equally supporting suitable control schemes for developers of wildly different game genres but without straying too far from the gamers' expectations" and "that can be mass-produced at a reasonable enough price to include a couple with the console and not bankrupt your customers if they need another." I think that's part of why I've always been primarily a PC-and-Nintendo gamer (besides my old PS2). Nintendo was always adding hard-to-emulate tactile differences to their consoles, while Sony and Xbox (despite having better generic controller designs) rarely ever made me think "this PS/XB game would be better enjoyed on the original console rather than the PC port/emulation." From early on they had Gunpei Yokoi replacing the joystick with the D-pad & buttons (becoming the default layout for future controllers, especially after the SNES upgrade) and sucessfully introducing portable consoles with the Game Boy; later the N64 introduced 3d gameplay and tried to handle that with its triclops controller, the DS and Wii both had unique designs that distinguished from the competition, the 3DS and Wii U added even more distinctive features on top of the DS/Wii framework, and the Switch broke free of the trap of consoles competing with PC through being the first real home/portable hybrid console. There were a lot of reasons to say "this GBA/DS/3DS/Wii/WiiU/Switch game would be better on the original console rather than PC."
By now though, people are catching up! Software emulation is getting better at managing the unique designs of consoles like the DS and Wii families, and 3rd-party physical peripherals are filling in the tactile elements. I hope to see that trend continue, especially as the originals -- like the DS and Wii families -- are breaking down over time. I did worry that the physical elements of those games could have gotten lost to time! It's great to see! I wish the software+hardware emulator devs and designers the best of luck; and I wish all Nintendo's C&Ds against them explode, setting the Nintendo legal department on fire. Fuck off, these games are a decade old and you don't even sell physical modern-console ports of them. Let the fans preserve, they do it better!

Why is it that you considered nintendo trying to be the apple of gaming? I feel like, especially if taking sony into account, it's rather opposite of it in most of the case. Like a horizontal opposite of a horse shoe. Granted, as far as I know, the simliarity between nintendo and apple is extreme protectiveness over their IP and loathes the modification of their product. As a platform, based on recent development, they cant be more different. Nintendo product thrive on being weak but affordable console to most, and has since loosen control on third party content, while Playstation and apple thrive on being luxury powerful high end product on the market , and their policy for third party cobtent seem to have gotten more strict recently. I heard that sony forced Japanese developer make their game closer to western sensibility, even the one meant to be published in japan.
Nintendo thrive on being what people might wants, while apple thrive on being best in the market
That said, my knowledge on this is pretty limited and could be wrong, so I would like to know your perspective on this and feel free to correct me if I am wrong about anything.
It was because at the start of the Switch, Nintendo was overcharging the hell out of it. To some degree, they still are. When you consider the capabilities of the hardware, it's roughly (not directly, but roughly) equivalent to, like, an Xbox 360 or a Playstation 3. Hardware from 2005, in other words. Again, I know it's not a direct 1:1 comparison, because it's more about memory speeds and bus bandwidth. In some places the Switch is better than a 360, and in others it's worse. But still. Roughly equivalent.
For, like, $300? That's a lot of money. It leans really hard on that portability aspect. Being able to throw it in a carrying case and easily take it with you. Slot it in to any Switch dock and throw it up on a TV. I'm doing that right now, given I am writing this on the last couple days of pet sitting for my cousin. They have a Switch, but they take it with them on vacation, so I'm just using my Switch in their dock to play Tears of the Kingdom.
There was also rumors that Nintendo was going to roll out updated hardware more like a mobile phone; what I had heard was they wanted a marginal upgrade out every 2-3 years. And true enough, rumors of the so-called "Switch Pro" have persisted since at least 2018 or 2019. But since the Switch itself was selling so insanely well, supposedly Nintendo got cold feet and didn't want to mess up a good thing by rushing replacement hardware out. Now, they've stalled so long that they're leaving a lot of developers with Switch Pro dev kits out to dry.
Software is, and to some degree continues to be, very expensive. Ignoring the fact that Zelda's $70, even at launch, you had Capcom putting out a version of Street Fighter 2 HD for $60, when on Xbox Live Arcade, they charged $15 for more or less the same experience. A lot of early games were plagued by the so-called "Switch Tax."
But you're right insofar as Sony has totally stolen that crown with the Playstation 5, right down to the crushing ego and everything.
That is the number one reason I don't really want a Playstation 5. I mean, I've entered giveaways for one, I wouldn't say no if it dropped into my lap, but Sony is going after the "status symbol" market. It's very gross. I don't care how many PS4 games I have, how much of my library is tied up in PS+ freebies, I will drop the Playstation brand for another Xbox as soon as I can afford to.

I started a post, drafted it so I can continue it in a bit, but it fucking disappeared so here’s a shorter version.
Basically most of the wonky shit that’s going on in the new Pokemon games (particularly with some weird model stuff) are only going on in the Online mode. Of course people are playing it while having Online turned on and showing clips of the game being weird while conveniently leaving out that context. (Either that or they’re pirating it, which means that the “anti-piracy” measures are happening for them.)
I’m sure that even if you point out that the problem is with the WiFi they’ll whine about how “no, it’s the game! (Even though it’s the internet server’s fault for every other game.)” Because they’re denying that it’s the hardware and not the game’s fault every time they see some lag, so of course they’d deny that it’s the internet server’s fault, too.
And as far as anecdotal evidence go, all I’ve seen from my husband’s game is Miraidon disappearing and Pokemon floating. Which is weird but not game breaking. I’m still not getting any problems when I play the game offline.
So now for the internet server rant that I wasn’t able to get to in my original post:
Now for the rant: Nintendo’s internet services still fucking sucks! I stopped paying for it after they discontinued my service twice within the same year (I paid for the year, twice) so I never tested out the “improved online connection” that they kept on talking about for Splatoon 3.
When I tried looking that up I found Reddit threads from a week ago complaining about the internet connection for Splatoon 3. So apparently it either didn’t improve since 2004, or it barely improved.
The only good thing about Nintendo’s online service is that I can play games that are worth $100+ for $20 for... As far as they’ll let me play it. Not a year like they promise, though. (Does anybody else have that problem?)
I’m not paying for that, but I’m especially not going to pay $60 more to use a nearly 20 year old internet service. I pay $60 for PS+ and get AAA games. Sure they’re worth like, $10 once they’re available for free, but their internet services also actually works decently.
I used to use Xbox Live too but then I moved in with my husband and didn’t have a need for it anymore. I played a lot of games with him and had minimal problems. It was also pretty decent, and a lot better than what Nintendo’s internet services are now.
I did not realize just how annoyed I am by Nintendo’s nearly twenty year old internet servers until I kept ranting.

(chose the best gif we know right)
This man is not a romantic. At all. He never considered himself to be a romantic and doesn't like cheesy romantic cliches....but he has this feeling of always trying to impress and one-up everyone else and reassure himself that he's better than anyone else who wants to date you. Don't get us wrong, he does love you a lot...it's just that due to the nature of his work skewing his standards of what's "normal", it's a bit difficult sometimes to date him.
He knows about love, how MacMillan has different wives, who always seem to be younger and more buxom than the previous one. He thinks of love as some kind of complex dynamic between two people, with unspoken etiquette and rules that he doesn't know of. Too busy with his work to ever even fathom settling down one day and marrying someone he loves...he just can't see it in his future. "Love" is just something you can use against another, (like holding someone's wife and kid as a bargaining chip) and "Marriage" was just having eye candy on your arm and make other people jealous. He has a very grey moral compass and his ethics are very unclear and vague.
Then you come in.
You don't blow him away right from the start, but you do pique his interest. You're new, fresh faced, and proficient in many skills. He gets to know more about you, and he's taken aback by how accomplished you are, and he respects your capability and acknowledges your usefulness during missions.
But there's something he can't just point out--why does he feel some kind of need to impress you? Why does he want to make you smile? Somehow he feels lighter and almost giddy when he makes a joke and you laugh--and at night, he stays awake staring at the ceiling, reminiscing about your melodious voice. Unexpectedly, he starts to look forward to meeting you every day, and he feels as if he could listen to you talk for hours on end, or just watch you do your thing and feel satisfied and content. He doesn't know why he feels these things however--he thinks that maybe it's just because he appreciates you and the work you do is useful and makes things easier when he's deployed. He brushes off his newfound feelings, thinking that sooner or later they'll just fizzle out and he can go back to working like normal.
The only catch was that it didn't fizzle out. The more time he spends with you, the more this fire inside of him crackles and burns more fervently, and it's inextinguishable. He realizes then, that he likes you, but he's adamant on saying that yes, I do like them, but it doesn't matter.
Finally he loses too much sleep over this, pondering how your hands fit into his calloused palms so well, and how he wants to hold you and rock you back and forth as you slow dance to romantic French songs, that his younger sister, Jenny, (Squadron Leader Jennifer "Broke" Price of No 9 (B) Squadron, RAF) had to hammer it in his head with a power drill that "you're in LOVE, johnny" and he regrets ever going to his younger sister for "Relationship Advice" because now even his older sister, (Major Jasmine Price) is heavily berating him about it. "This is having a significant impact on your effectiveness in the field, Johnathan. If you don't do something about this, I'm going to have to write you up and give you a mandatory leave till you sort yourself out."
He cannot go on Mandatory leave. He just can't. He'll die. So he takes a deep breath, memorizes the list of things he has to keep in mind during a "date" (or whatever Jenny called it) and approaches you.
"I really enjoy your company. If you're free, would you like to have dinner with me at 7PM tonight?"
You're surprised. Is Captain Price asking you out on a fucking date? You accept, but you're left reeling, shocked as ever, as he just says "Alright, thank you," and then leaves. He's fist pumping the entire way to his office.
You go out on a date in a nice restaurant in Hereford, as you're stationed there for the meantime. He knows this place like the back of his hand, and you both are chaperoned in a sleek black Mercedes-Benz 600 Grosser with bulletproof window panels towards the venue of your date. (He borrowed the car from Jasmine, and the random valet has a tuxedo.)
Part 2 of what happens during the date..? 👀

My #1 post of 2022
KÖNIG Headcanons (NSFW at the end)
Born in Austria, but moved to Germany when he was like, seven.
Suffers from the most severe amount of anxiety you've ever seen. Like. Not the cutesy, blush, "imscawedtopresentinfrontofclass" thing you'd see on a cute anime girl. Nope. This man is a severe
WRECK.
He is absolutely NOT pure but he's like. The awkwardest bitch to ever exist. Why. Why. Who gave you anxiety my love.
Not cinnamon roll either, these are skilled, deadly operators we're talking about.
Gets flustered for no reason ever and gets the most random anxiety attacks for what he calls the "smallest" things ever.
His brain goes FULL alert and alarm mode when there's a very small problem that will not affect his life at all and when there's an actual BIG problem in place, like life-ending missiles?
His brain takes a sip of vodka and then goes like "yea it be like that sometimes"
Bullied in grade school, high school, not college. He enlisted into the army when he found out being built like a mountain also meant that it was harder to knock you down. In combat, I mean. But it's easier to knock him down mentally..
would have actually went to college if not for his crippling anxiety kicking him in the gut every time he tried to go out for a walk. someone passes him by and it's immediately "shit shit shit shit shit shit shit they hate me i'm actually so fucking worthless like-" i wish i was exaggerating but no. he was just really fucked over mentally as a kid.
grew up being bullied like HELL because of how tall he was. like. it wasn't normal. it wasn't even bullying it was just some people laughing at him from time to time about how large he was. this actually hurt him severely and sometimes refused to go out and if he was forced to. he would cry
severely sensitive about his face. he looks Fine. not attractive or ugly but. just a regular german guy. but with very sad eyes. for some reason.
seems. apologetic. his resting face is a man wanting to apologize.
definitely suffered from depression for a few years in his high school days. just not wanting to go to school and it being difficult for him to even get out of bed.
he also suffers from extreme self-esteem issues. he hates his face. Very much. has tried to cut it on Very bad days. a few scars here and there but no scarring that's too extensive.
prone to self harming. due to overthinking and extensive blaming and self-deprecating thoughts.
not as bad as ghost but. still Very bad
on a scale of 1 to 10 on how much of a pathetic wreck of a man he is? he's a solid 20.
wears a mask because he is Sensitive. very. he hates his face, he hates mirror, he hates his reflection. very very thankful for his headgear and how it hides his face because he hates his face so so much
cries a lot too. will just break out crying sometimes when he pent up Too much emotion and silent tears will come out of his eyes. but you won't see it. because it's hidden
yeah he literally thinks Everyone hates him just at first glance. he tries not to though. he tries to just focus on the job but he can't help but tremble sometimes.
you'll catch him shaking or stammering on his words too much and he'll just. ignore it if you point it out. and then slam his head on a desk inside his room when you're out of earshot
super critical of himself and his actions. TOO critical.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Need I say more.
sometimes he just. can't help it. but. suddenly he will feel like his life TRULY is on the line if he doesn't flick the light switch twenty times and blink his eyes five times so that he's safe and all his loved ones are safe and-
too clean of a room. too clean. no dust anywhere. reorganizes four times a day. indecisive. Cannot be trusted to make decisions. absolutely not.
he's OK in the battlefield but outside of fighting and shooting......... he's pathetic.
oh damn he's HORRIBLE at bed. this man's dick game would've been rock bottom if not for his massive -
yeah of course it's massive. why wouldn't it be. he's embarrassed of it because it hangs weirdly if he doesn't wear the tight enough boxers

Is there a better controller out there than the first party Xbox/PS brand controllers?
Is there a better controller out there than the first party Xbox/PS brand controllers? Title says it all, really. I was at a con recently and was looking at this controller called a SCUF that looked really nice felt comfortable, but looking at it on amazon, it has a ton of low score reviews because apparently the mandatory software is really bad and prone to breaking it. It's a shame, because it looked really comfortable and a great balance of things I like between Sony and MS's products. It got me curious if there was a gamepad out there actually better than the first party offerings. I've used an Xbox controller on my PC for so long I don't know what else is good. Submitted August 10, 2024 at 01:35PM by Galactic_Druid https://ift.tt/8aKY5V0 via /r/gaming
