i know i'm usually only here once a week on the weekends anyway, but i also do tend to get on mobile a lot throughout the week. i haven't been, and that's because so much is going on in my life right now that the thought of getting online here just isn't even in my head right now. it isn't important.

while i do enjoy this hobby a lot, it is still just that -- a hobby. and i will come back to it when my life isn't so chaotic. that could be two days from now or two weeks from now...who knows. but i'm just letting you guys know that my activity (while it's already low) will be extremely sparse and i am going to prioritize established mutuals over new ones.

i am always on discord and everyone is welcome to message me there if you want to talk or yell about our characters. if i don't respond right away, please understand that i have a lot going on right now.

at the end of september/beginning of october, our water was cut off because of the water company being absolutely shady and manipulative and lying to us for months prior, and we and to figure out how to come up with over $2,000 very quickly because living without running water in today's world is just not feasible, especially when everything else in your house is working completely normally. luckily we only had to go a few days without water, but the situation was just a fucking nightmare especially because on top of it, my wife and i were working our new-ish jobs as normally as we possibly could; she works 32 hours a week and i work 40, both of us work with children. i was on my lunch break trying to figure out how much water my wife had to buy when she got off work just so we could flush our toilets once or twice throughout the night. i was in my preschool classroom sitting in the floor cutting out laminated farm animals while on the phone with the water company who told me i had insufficient funds in my account when i was staring at my bank that said $2,400 at that moment in time. my wife had to be woken up so she could take cash down to the water company and they had our water back on within 30 minutes, but the stress of all of the bullshit we were going through doesn't just go away.

the week after that was also extremely stressful and overstimulating because of things out of our control.

the past week has been spent worrying about my cat, who has deteriorated EXTREMELY rapidly. she won't eat her normal food, she is constantly getting dirty somehow, her eyes are almost always stuck shut every day and i have to clean them every morning, she's lost so much weight in such a short amount of time and has no energy for anything other than sitting in the same spot. because we work so much, we have not had the time to even call a vet much less make an appointment for her. we managed to get her in somewhere on monday, but that means i'm having to miss work. i've been feeding her liquid/broth cat food and continuing to clean her every day so she can function, though.

the brakes on our car have also deteriorated extremely quickly in the last week, and they're being replaced today. getting an appointment on a sunday of all days was stressful, and trying to plan it around what my wife has had going on for work this weekend was also very stressful. my wife has had only one day off this week and still has to go back to work tomorrow after a weekend of nothing but overstimulation and stress. the brakes are going to be over $500 to have fixed.

my wife's grandfather has also been in critical condition for a while now, and they are expecting him to pass within the next three weeks. we will both have to plan for paying for plane tickets to the funeral, as well as mentally preparing for dealing with her (extremely conservative & fucking awful) family.

all of this is on top of me working with preschool aged autistic children, and things have been chaotic and stressful there too. i'm not going to be at work tomorrow when we're getting a new student, and whenever the normal teachers are out of the classroom, the kids are thrown off completely and end up acting out. but i quite literally just have no other option, my cat HAS to go to the vet. she should have gone last week, but again, we just have not had the time.

who knows what else will pop up in the meantime. i am autistic and all of this overstimulation is not good for my mental health AT ALL. my wife has been extremely depressed lately and all of this is not good for HER mental health at all. we are both just trying to survive right now, but shit will not stop happening.

so i hope everyone can see why tumblr roleplay is quite literally the last thing on my mind right now.

you know something that kind of upsets me. is the elitist attitudes of a lot ( not all 💚 ) of tolkienites. some of y’all will act as if anyone who hasn’t read EVERY book, every subscript, every anecdote, and not just once but at least twenty times, studied and devoted and memorized… somehow isn’t a ‘real’ tolkien fan or doesn’t ‘deserve’ to enjoy his world

it’s kind of like the heavy metal situation when eddie munson’s character blew up so much.

just because someone gets into a fandom/interest ‘late,’ doesn’t mean they aren’t a real fan. just because someone is a more casual fan, doesn’t mean they aren’t a real fan.

i’m here to extend a warm, welcoming hand to any and all who have discovered the world of tolkien through watching the rings of power ( or in fact, through eddie munson, since i mentioned him already and he does have tolkien ties! ).

don’t pay the elitists any mind. are tolkien’s works fucking wondrous? YES! but are they long and endless and often quite dull? yes. and not everyone has the time or energy to devote to consuming them. and that’s okay.

those works will always be there if you ever have the desire for them! and if not, you keep doing you, enjoying the movies or shows or fanfics or whatever other facet of tolkien’s ideas you prefer 💚

So my day has been interesting, to say the least. It started out with this...

Here's the story...

So I went to the ER last night because I was having horrible pain in my jaw. Like 8 out of 10, I'm gonna either puke or pass out pain.

My dentist had been dismissing pain I've had since Feb when I got a deep cleaning. Saying I needed to weary night guard & that it was normal sensitivity. Well, here we are 3 months later & it's so much worse

The ER couldn't do much, but give me a nerve block. I get how worried they are about opioid addiction, but I was ready to saw off an arm in exchange for some relief. Like I was in full-on, tears break down mode. Still nothing...

Then I went home still in pain, down to a 4/5, from an 8, & began looking for emergency dentists. Found one that could get me in immediately. Showed up still in tears, but there was light at the end of the tunnel. He took 1 x-ray & found 2 large absess at the root of one of my teeth. The tooth apparently is pretty much dead now, so he drained the absess & got me started on antibiotics. Still no pain pill beyond regular ibuprofen, so I'm still in some pain but a hell of a lot better. Seriously, please look past the opioid crises & see when patients are truly in pain.

Tomorrow morning, I have an emergency root canal to try & save that tooth. I'll need a crown, obviously, but after the root canal, at least the pain should stop.

Just for fun, below are my x-rays. The 2 big dark blobs by the root of the tooth are the absesses. The one silver lining is that I did a lot of scary stuff today by myself. Took myself to the ER alone. Got major dental work (which is already a phobia) alone. Getting more major dental work done alone tomorrow. So I'm patting myself on the back for that big time.

Also fun plus, the new dentist I went to collects Doctor Strange comic books.

Moral of this story: Doctors, Nurses, Dentists, & Hygienists - please believe your patients when they say something is wrong & they are in pain. Please don't make them suffer for 3 months like I did & tell me you think it's nothing!

Ah yes, as I expected!

I don't recall reading a certain passage in one of the god's history on the Forgotten Realms Wiki before Early Access. Not sure when it was added-probably post-game launch. Others certainly, as well as myself, had our suspicions of who Withers really was, and now just look!

It's confirmed under his history! And oh boy, does this tickle my lore nerd heart dearly!

"During the events surrounding the rise of the cult of The Absolute of the Year of Three Ships Sailing, 1492 DR, Jergal manifested an avatar called Withers in a temple dedicated to himself that had lain abandoned for over a century - or rather, interred his avatar within the temple at some point in the past so that the True Souls would eventually awaken it. As Withers, Jergal provided magical support to the adventurers, in exchange for a pittance of coin compared to the usual cost of such services. He accompanied the True Soul on their journey, but aside from resurrecting dead allies and summoning additional help when asked for, he did not intervene directly..."

What set me off on these suspicions ages ago was when I played a cleric once in Early Access, I think Patch 8. There was a special cleric-only dialogue observation when speaking with Withers upon his arrival at camp. Basically, the narrator informed the player how Withers had a touch of divinity about him. I think even going so far to say it was diminished. Which would fit Jeral's godhood status perfectly. I've yet to check if the line still exists in the full game because well... clerics are not exactly a popular class to play. I've yet to play one again.

However, I would highly recommend picking up a few levels as a cleric with a few of your companions who have an okay wisdom stat if you like multi-classing to open up a few more dialogue options in the future. Also adjusting your wisdom stat at the beginning a touch higher helps with those saving throws regarding deception, fear, or some other form of mental manipulation. Plus it's nice to have some extra heals, buffs, and radiant damage on more than just Shadowheart. Perhaps we might even gleam a few more interesting tidbits of information by multi-classing as one. So why not give it a try.

And thanks to the avatar of Jergal himself you can always change your mind later on! (Silly me turned Astarion's into one for Lathander after we found the "giggle" pendant. My player character too, after she pinched his very shinny mace and nearly destroyed what was left of his temple. It was the least they could do. ^_^;)

Reminder for everyone gearing up for TMMN S2 — there’s going to be an advanced screening of episodes 13 and 14 in Tokyo at 4PM local time Monday, March 20th. That’s midnight PST/3AM EST on Monday for my US followers.

As usual there’s not going to be a stream, and no photos are allowed, but watch the Japanese side of Twitter on Monday into Tuesday to find people posting about the event. Last year, when they did an advanced screening of episodes 1, 2, and 3, there was a slew of spoilers about the plot beats, character appearances, and other smaller details posted to Twitter by people who attended the event.

hi! an important announcement:

as of today, all my blogs are being privatized. what this means is i will only be interacting with current mutuals, and my affiliates will get priority when it comes to replies.

i know this isn't shocking as i tend to do this anyway, but i'm making it publicly known because i feel that it's time for me personally (but also the entire rpc) to stop feeling bad for putting people i'm comfortable writing with, or have been writing with for a while, first over others. i've found myself in task paralysis (which stems from adhd so it isn't all tumblr's fault) time and time again, debating on if i should reply to the thing i have muse for vs the thing i just started or have less comfortability with.

it isn't bad to be comfortable with certain people over others. trying to be equal to everyone takes the fun out of this hobby, both in general and for me. it prevents me from getting on sometimes because i feel so bad about only wanting to interact with certain people, but the fact i have rp partners that i adore writing with so much is truly a blessing, and i'm not going to feel guilty for that anymore.
