Siam Reap (Day 1)
It was Pchum Benh holiday in Cambodia for a week. Uncle Alex and myself decided to visit Siam Reap. We woke up really early to catch a bus from Phnom Penh. I was told the bus ride only takes 6 hours but it ended up 8 hours. Why? Because they kept stopping to drop off passengers. And there is no highway to get there. It's mostly passing by village roads that are uneven.
I slept through the bus journey as I wasn't entirely well. But Uncle Alex was enjoying the scenic of the life in Cambodia. Apparently it reminds him of his younger days when Malaysia was once like this. By the paddy fields with bulls, pigs walking wild in an open area and kids just playing outside the house.
As we reach Siam Reap, I starting to compare between the two towns; Siam Reap and Phnom Penh. I must say, Siam Reap is much cleaner and is filled with trees at most places. The people here are much friendlier and roads are better developed compared to Phnom Penh. But sadly, there's not much develop in Siam Reap. More like a cowboy town.
We stay by the pub street and walk around to find dinner.

I googled and found Khmer food and had a good review. Decided to give a try and I must say, it was so good!

And the best part was, it's cheap! Really cheap!
That's was mostly what day 1 in Siam Reap is about because half the day was spend on the bus!

Map of Soho Good Omens Season 2 - Part 4 (Whickber Street [right])
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
Update: Map now identifies Lucky Snake
Tumblr media
The right side of Whickber Street doesn't have as many stores. It also ends with a park. On one side: -Dirty Donkey Pub The pub occupies most of the block, in the far side there is a small alleyway that leads to a courtyard and to the pub's backdoor. This courtyard has two large doors facing the street. Since there is an alleyway the courtyard is not isolated, people can come and go. I imagine this courtyard acts as a loading area where the pub receives and unloads supplies. And on the other side:
-Market This structure is more like a small office building or a parking garage with flower and fruit stands at street level. It was already there in Season 1 -Unknown structure There is an alleyway between this mysterious structure at the end of the block and the market, so they are not connected. This structure has a door but no sign that I could see. It doesn't look like a storefront at all, maybe storage? public restroom? something so British that a non-British person is unable to imagine?

A pretty well-known pub in Paris that serves some authentic Scottish ales, stouts and whiskies. (so I have been told)

On the walls.
Stood on York's roman walls, looking through a gap between walls, at street level is the public house The Hole in the Wall. In the background of course is a tower of York Minster.

stammheimer straße // köln riehl
this is a pub frontage in typical cologne post-war architecture of the kind that can still be found in many parts of the city. the neon lettering of a typical cologne brewery gives the rather plain façade its charm.

Lord Newry pub, in Fitzroy North, painted four ways.
This is a commission, I have yet to work out the Best Way to depict this street-scene, so consider these warm-up studies.
