Now I'm just imagining Raphael meeting Warlock Tav's Archfey patron and it being like a 'meeting the in-laws' sort of thing, with the Archfey wanting to know if Raphael is worthy of being the patron for 'his Tavy' and demanding that Raphael prove himself. 50/50 shot if Raphael ends up getting roped into some fey shenanigans in the process of getting what he wants or if he manages to work something out that allows him to leave with his dignity (mostly) unscathed.

How do things go for Euan and Puck after their first meeting?

Things go Very Fucking Bad for both of them. They manage to escape Coruscant by the skin of their teeth, with Euan’s ship heavily damaged in the fight. Add that stress onto a) the rebel operative Euan was supposed to meet with getting killed, b) the reason the rebel operative was killed was because she pushed puck out of the line of fire, c) now having to take care of a stuck up civilian with survivor’s guilt because they won’t let go of the data chip you were supposed to give to the operative (who is now dead) (because she saved puck instead of him) and d) not knowing what the fuck to do next because she’s a remote operative and has never seen the rebel base before

From Puck’s perspective, imagine you went outside for a quick smoke break only to get shot at, watch some random man die in front of you, then essentially get kidnapped in the middle of a show and forced to go on the run from the all-seeing government who now thinks you’re a terrorist, all while being babysat by a woman who’s got the emotional openness and tact of a lead pipe to the face

Suffice to say, their first month together is kinda like if you locked two territorial cats in the same room

Do you think maybe a large part also of why Chilchuck's wife left him was because of how much he changed after becoming an adventurer? He seemed naive and spirited once, but became more jaded the more dungeon crawling he did. I like to think with the new image of his wife that Flertom and Puckpatti's cheerful demeanor came from how Chilchuck was once as a child. But she accepted that people change. And yet that night, meeting how he is with his coworkers, reminds her of how he used to be.

Yes I do! I go into it in my masterpost on Chilchuck’s family, though I made it before we got his wife’s face reveal. If you want to see my thoughts on what things might have pushed her to leave I recommend you go to the ‘Possible strains on the marriage’ section!

Ooh I like your thoughts! Flertom and Puckpatti inheriting good cheer from him would be soo cute (it’d also be funny with how he’s like "Meijack, my daughter most like me" meanwhile the ones with the opposite of her personality got it from him. Sike Meijack’s like her mom the most lmao), but for Puckpatti at least I’m skeptical.

Chilchuck likes good cheer out of work sure, but he dislikes optimism/carefreeness. It makes him worry on if they can take care of themselves or if they’ll be able to make it (in part due to how he was himself tricked by parties in the past), so I’ve theorized that Puckpatti’s carefree demeanor is actually an effect of Chilchuck working out of home more and more as the years go by, and thus having the least of an influence on his youngest child, leaving his wife to do most of the raising and teaching lessons.

I don’t know what to make of his wife’s portrait yet, she does seem pretty jaded herself, or like she has a lot on her mind. Since it’s supposedly set into the present of canon, it could just be that she’s still affected and upset by having left him… Or maybe that’s just how she is! Maybe Chilchuck rubbed off on her too, or maybe she grew that way more over the years by herself, or maybe she’s always been a little gloomy/ice queen looking, no clue! I don’t think trying to take away a lot of her personality from just the portrait would be effective or wise, but now I do think she’s the more reserved and serious type.

He’s very cheerful and open when sharing drinks with people as we see, so it’s possible she’s like "Wow, he’s having such a good time here with his coworkers. Why isn’t he usually like that with me?" plus just being hit with a ton of bricks of realization that that part of him was why she loved him, but he’s changed so much so maybe they should cut their losses and part away. And especially since they were childhood friends, too! 20 years sure do change a man. Chilchuck does say she fell into a bad mood after the outing on the way back home but didn’t know why, so there’s a lot of thoughts and feelings we can assign to her. Again, I encourage you to read my big post on it if it interests you, I give many different interpretations and whatnot~!

Puck Thorne glanced at the old oak tree, the same one where he had spent countless lonely hours, a wave of memories washing over him. He used to be able to climb so high ... he remembered, as he settled a hand against the park and looked up through the leaves. The rustle of leaves in the autumn breeze felt both familiar and foreign, a haunting reminder of the life he had tried to escape. He took a deep breath, feeling the weight of his return to Cardinal Hill settle heavily on his shoulders.

Leaning against the rough bark, he stared at the ground, unsure of what to do next. A part of him yearned to call out, to reach out to anyone who might remember him, but the fear of rejection gripped him. He was a successful horror novelist now, crafting stories that explored the darkest corners of the human experience, yet here, among the ghosts of his past, he felt like a child -- too scared to go home. Would anyone understand the pain of being the odd one out in a family of witches?

He sighed, contemplating his next move. Maybe he should just sit for a while and observe the life around him. The park was alive with the sounds of laughter and distant chatter, a stark reminder of the normalcy he had never known. A couple of children raced by, their carefree joy only deepening his sense of isolation. He wished someone would notice him, yet he was afraid of what it might mean if they did.

So, he decided to sit. The fading light cast long shadows across the ground, transforming the park into a place of both beauty and melancholy. It had once been a refuge, a place to escape into his imagination and the stories he wanted to tell. Now, it felt like a reminder of everything he had tried to leave behind, the ghosts of his childhood swirling around him like mist.

Yes hehe, I do have a follow-up, because I AGREE it's so good!!! I just rewatched it for the first time since it first came out (I think?) and I was so charmed by it all over again! I kind of think episode 5 of that season is objectively one of their best episodes ever… I looove the way the teams splitting up allows for interesting interactions between all four of them, and I like the strategizing over the phone parts, I find it really charming. But yes I remember the comments on reddit and youtube being kinda harsh on that season when it came out, ESPECIALLY about Sam and Scotty. And I think youtube and reddit are just generally harsher on Sam, more so than on tumblr, but I just think they're misreading him soooo unfairly in this specific context!!! People were mad at how "smug" they were when their tactic was getting in Ben and Adam's way instead of capturing flags, but I found it very funny and think most of those people would have too, if it was happening in the opposite direction… Also that season just has incredible Sam vibes imo. He literally seems thrilled just to be travelling Japan and to be getting some jogging done. He's having so much fun!!! And the Sam and Adam 5D train chess moment that leads to them hanging out in a picturesque little town… Obviously incredible. And then them watching Ben and Scotty's trackers next to each other on the train later. And also, importantly, Sam's bucket hat… Literally what's not to love??? And as far as I remember they all describe the season as having been a lot of fun to film as well… One criticism that I maybe do get is that it's very much a high intensity game with fewer chill moments for both them and the audience, especially in the first round, so I can understand that not being to everyone's taste….. But yes, I think that season is sooooo underrated and I'd love to see them bring the format back! And I had that take rattling around my head for many days, so I thought I'd free myself of it by giving it to you :) I'm glad you also liked it <3

as i’ve been powering through seasons i have been a little worried like. what am i gonna do when i get to the end and have to WAIT but hearing this is good because i feel like it confirms there's so much re-watch potential!! don't threaten me with a good time (rewatching jet lag).

i also love the phone strategizing!! charming is the right word for it. can’t remember any quotes precisely because my brain is a sieve but i just remember them yapping for a majority of the episode and i liked being able to see them collaborating even though they were doing different things if that makes sense? they got to be their own decision-makers within the unit which is interesting To Me in terms of strategy. which! i have not been on reddit or the youtube comments but :/ don’t malign my boy sam!! he might’ve done all that (been very happy to have thwarted adam and ben) but he doesn’t deserve it…*

i think it is very common for all of them to do that and it’s not malicious? it is maybe a little smug but one of the unique things about this season was how much they got to SEE each other after making moves. usually they’re facetiming across countr(ies) for five minutes and even then they do gloat a little bit about particularly good or thwarting moves. we just get to see in person the joy of coming up with a strategy that was successful [and perhaps ties back into scotty. scotty just wants SO badly to do well and not let sam down that to me!! it’s really important that they celebrate this (not)victory!! let scotty have success even if it’s not conventional!!] the other team didn’t think of because they all fundamentally think different ways. ben and adam are always more high risk high reward and especially in this game sam and scotty played a lot more defense so it feels natural to me to extend that strategy to the fact that after obtaining a lead he wouldn’t risk it, he’d defend it (thwarted ben and adam). if you’re already winning you don’t need to pull the goalie!!

but yes sam has a GREAT time this season and every time he gets on a super fast train he’s so excited 🥺 AND THE 5D CHESS!! the sam/adam scenic getaway means sooo much to me i watched it heart in my throat and also pen in hand ✍️ ✍️ ✍️

let it be said i don't think this season was the one that stressed me out so bad that i HAD to keep watching it? for sure this one was very tense but i think i exist at such a high state of stress at all times watching jet lag that this didn't even register as more stressful than normal. or i simply repressed all the stress i felt idk. it was simultaneously not a chill season (them getting lost and on the wrong trains right off the bat) but also very chill because there’s a lot of downtime on the trains? and we got choo choo chew!!! which is so beloved to me!!! there’s a lot to love about this season i think.

It brings a smile to her face as she looks up without turning around to see him behind her. She looks far too cheerful given the dickhead she had been dealing with only moments ago. It was a common occurrence when one worked in a tavern - especially when they were as pretty as Katya.

Had the patron only waited until she opened her mouth to talk, he would have seen that unfortunately the inside did not match its pretty exterior. He had just kept talking, not letting her get a word in, and when she did, he thought she was playing hard to get. She was about to start a fist fight over it, but instead her lovely little guard dog had shown up.

He cut a much more imposing figure than she did which caused the man to scamper away, tail between his legs.

Pity. She was looking forward to a good fight.

Not that that skinny runt would have been much of a challenge.

But he was gone and she only had eyes for her lover.

So this week was the second time teenaged Judy had coached a team of middle aged adults. Only this time it goes well. It was pretty nice of them to help Judy fine tune her play. Make it more optimistic, funny but in a way that makes people think. Also I was wondering if they would ever bring up those dividend payments and now they have.

Agree with you on that with Judy being a good interim head coach because when comparing her as a player/coach in curling to coaching a local hockey team, while she was doing it just to have her voice heard to convince everyone that the oil dividend checks are wrong because it's pretty much hush money from big oil, she did a good job in having the local team going through a turnaround.
