It's now October, the Halloween season is in full swing. Never mind that, though! Here's Deadpool instead! The PulseCon exclusive Marvel Legends Deadpool in fact.
Those who have been here long enough might even remember that the very first figure I looked at on this blog was the previous black & red '90s Deadpool Hasbro released. In spite of how many great DP figures I've gotten since, that one remained my favorite from a purely aesthetic standpoint. I'm a big fan of Deadpool's classic design, especially as drawn by Ed McGuinness or Joe Mad. So, if that last one just had better articulation, it could have been nigh definitive.
Well, this new one is very similar to that DP, just with more articulation and a boatload of accessories. So, yeah, I'm kind of a big fan of this toy. It's pretty fun. Hope it gets a restock for anybody who missed out.
I gotta talk about these Prime Changers for the new Transformers One movie.
(Forgive the saturation issues, G2 Grimlock washes out literally everything else but he's my fave for posing with cause he's big.)
I LOVE THESE DUDES. It's a little frustrating how much I like them, actually- they seem, to me, to be unilaterally better than the studio series figures for the same movie. Optimus, Sentinel Prime, and Megatron we have seen in plastic and they're just NOT GREAT.
QUINTESSON
A lovely, gross fella with not a *single* normal limb. He feels good, he looks good, the plastic is solid and sturdy and dense. Studio series has got NOTHING on these dudes of late. I can't even explain the difference here. Even with less paint, these just feel good to handle.
ORION PAX / OPTIMUS PRIME
I didn't ever really want to be an Optimus collector, it's slowly happening anyway. Not my fault his designs are so diverse. Anyway, this tiny little lad is ridiculously well built. His transformation is better than most Optimus figures, he's got the sturdies, and he poses like a champ. Only problem is his dinky little matrix broke the first time I took it out of his hands. >:/ that aside, despite being my *cheapest* Optimus, he is my second favorite. (First is still gamer Optimus.)
BADASSITRON
Important admission- despite being the second most toyed transformer, I own exactly two Bumblebee figures... This and the Rise of the Beast sporty with bull bars. I *do not like* Bumblebee. But this one is a real banger. I love how clean he is, and this is probably the one that the comparison between mainline and studio series is going to be the most dramatic.that render, folks... It hurts.
ALPHA TRION
Ok, this one pisses me off. Not because it's bad, not because he in any way is unsatisfying, not because of anything HE did. Alpha Trion makes me upset because we had a WHOLE MOVIE about beast figures, with LOADS of beast mode toys, and NONE of them come close to this guy. This dinky little guy has a beast mode that puts the entirety of Rise of the Beasts to shame. Studio series, mainline, kids toys generally come nowhere close. Alpha Trion is almost entirely posable in beast mode, and looks good doing it. The metallic pink paint on *barely* shimmery purple plastic is amazing. The joints are solid. The transformation is so much fun. Just an all around good dude.
SENTINEL PRIME
still looking for this one unfortunately, but from what I have seen the studio series version doesn't even stand a chance. He looked so goofy when they showed him off at PulseCon.
A bit behind, but Early Access for the Transformers One review should be up tonight (Sydney time). Have to film some shots to insert into the final cut.
Also y'all enjoy Pulsecon. Think I have to miss it. The Transformers segment drops right as I wake up for an eleven hour shift. Might watch it over brekkie though. Y'all have fun.
A new clip of Cosmic Fury's first episode that they showed today at PulseCon! Props for the camera people for pulling off that ambitious first shot, though Zedd's new voice........gotta admit, i'm not a fan
also why aren't you dead. Did you and Zedd get freed from the crystal prison and just......respectfully go your separate ways
Power Rangers Lightning Collection Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers 5-pack leaked
Through an early and quickly deleted listing from UK online storefront In Demand Toys, the next multi-pack in Hasbro’s Power Rangers Lightning Collection has been revealed -- and in a first since 2020′s Psycho Rangers, it is to be a 5-pack; this time of the Alien Rangers of Aquitar from the season of the same name (or MMPR Season 3).
Teased a few months ago by Pulsecon, all five Alien Rangers are shown to come with their signature Aquitian Saber sword and their Aquitian Laser in both gun and sword modes. Finishing off the accessory count, each comes with an alternate pair of hands (White coming with karate chop hands while the others all have a pair of fists) and an effect part, with White and Black having an energy swirl effect for their swords and the others having a blast effect for their guns. No alternate civilian heads are included, and while it is difficult to see against the black background; they do indeed have the sword sheaths on their backs which will likely be able to store their Sabers.
The Lightning Collection Alien Rangers of Aquitar 5-pack has no known release date or price yet, but pre-orders are likely to go soon at a pricepoint of above and around $100.
