Little known fact about me: I'm fucking obsessed with Puzzlestuck. I have spent the past two years doing a series of increasingly absurd challenge runs through the game -- for example, using only Green heroes, using only Strilondes, using only villains, etc.

Today I finally managed to beat the game with only 6 characters and no denizens. Normally you use twelve characters for the last three levels, so, you know, doing it with half that many is a little challenging. Just a little.

I wonder if this is the minimal number of characters you can beat the game with. To do it with any less, you'd have to be able to solo one of the Felt Mansion stages, and I'm not sure there's any character who can do that. But who knows, maybe there is! Something to look into for a future challenge run, perhaps.

Puzzlestuck #1

Start

* You begin the game with one Beta Human and one Beta Troll . You must complete the tutorial level and advance to level 10 with your human before your chosen troll will join your party .

Ascension

* When your character reaches max level , they will often ascend . This means becoming more powerful , gaining new abilities , et cetera . Most characters simply god tier , but sprites will advance in prototype stage .

Obtaining Characters

* All SBURB and SGRUB players can be obtained through the Dream Bubbles . Once you defeat a character , they will be available to add to your party . Ancestors , however , must be obtained on Alternia . You do not have to complete the gauntlet to win a character ; if you die , you obtain all characters you already beat .

Sprites and Guardians

* These characters are also unlocked in a special manner . To unlock a sprite , you must have the corresponding human in your party . Then you must win a strife on Earth that corresponds to that human . * Unlocking a guardian is the same process as a Sprite , but your human must be ascended first .

Remembered Puzzlestuck existed and spent a while playing it because i never finished and i love me a puzzle battle game and man... turns out games like that are easy when you max out every character and understand team comp more than you did as a teenager

you can play puzzlestuck on a steam deck btw. i got the standalone swf file and an swf player off the flatpak store. it's a little stretched and using the touchscreen as a mouse is more finnicky than a mobile game would be. but it's totally playable. also, behold: the shittiest team that ever was.

A little Homestuck PSA

As 4/13 is right around the corner I just wanted to remind everyone about the Unofficial Homestuck Collection. As Viz and the death of Flash have been slowly killing the intended Homestuck experience there is still a way to see it how it was meant.

This offline program allows for all the flash to be seen and mini games to be played as intended and helps protect from spoilers. If you are going to start reading Homestuck or are planning to trick some unsuspecting friend into reading please consider using this program!

EXP Bonuses I have found thus far

* Speed - Win the battle quickly . I'm not entirely sure , but wanna say under ten turns . * Overkill - Drop your opponent under 0hp . * Untouchable - Win the battle without taking any damage . * Monochrome - Have a party filled with a single colour . Getting this EXP bonus implies you didn't use a dual colour character in your party for the related battle . * Group Synergy - Have a full team of characters in the same category ; sgrub / sburb / guardian / sprite / ancestor . * Pira8tes - Include both Eridan and Vriska or Mindfang and Dualscar in your party . Having all four does not increase the Pira8tes bonus . * Heretic - Include at least two characters in your party of the following ; Signless , Disciple , Psiioniic , and Delarosa . * Team Charge - Have Aradia and Tavros in your party . * Scourge Sisters - Have Vriska and Terezi in your party . * Meowrails - Have Nepeta and Equius in your party .
