Ilustrar sustentablemente

Como comenté hace poco, a veces me choca un poco la vida de persona que ilustra, hace merch y va a ferias con mi estilo de vida más anticonsumo. Mi intención con este post es dejarle a colegas una lista de disparadores con cosas donde se puede reducir el impacto que tenemos en el ambiente. No cubre todo, no es perfecta, pero es algo.

Herramientas de segunda mano

Para laburar tengo:

Una guillotina usada

Una impresora/escaner que tiene por lo menos 15 años (HP Deskjet F300)

Un iPad usado (recomiendo modelos de 2020 en adelante, hubo un cambio en el procesador que mejora el consumo de electricidad un montón)

Múltiples partes de computadora usadas

Todos menos la impresora funcionan impecable. La impresora es una impresora. Me niego a aceptar que ninguna fuera de una imprenta funciona bien, y aún así me pasó mil veces de ir a una imprenta y verlos metidos culo para arriba en una impresora enorme, puteando a todos los dioses. Igual lo que funciona mal son los cartuchos, que los compré en oferta porque estaban vencidos 🤡 Lo importante es que me sirve para imprimir tarjetas y tatuajes temporales, no necesito mucho más.

Los productos de tecnología requieren un montón de insumos difíciles de extraer y procesar. Pensar dos veces si realmente necesitamos algo, y tratar de que no sea algo 100% nuevo, es donde genuinamente más impacto podemos tener.

Ir a ferias, showrooms, espacios físicos

Cuando empecé a feriar me puse el objetivo de que todo lo que estuviera en mi mesa fuera usado o amigable al ambiente. Canastos, ganchos, rejas: todo eso lo podés encontrar usado ya sea online, o escribiendole a otros feriantes a ver si hay algo que les sobre y quieran vender. Mi mantel era una sábana que se rompió en un lavado, con un dobladillo que le hizo la mamá de un amigo. Es importante que sepas si estás empezando que casi cualquier feriante al que te acerques con respeto te va a poder ayudar o guiar con estas cosas, te van a saber pasar grupos de WhatsApp y recursos relevantes a la zona donde vivís.

Eso cubre la parte de usado, pero no la de amigable al ambiente. ¿Con qué me refería a esto segundo? Hay temas de packaging en los que mucha gente cae en el plástico. Ya sea sobrecitos para darle los productos al cliente, o bolsitas para colgar planchas de stickers en una reja.

La solución a todo eso tiene varias patas:

Para entregar productos, yo uso sobres de papel con un sellito colorido de mi marca, y siempre pregunto si lo necesita al cliente. Se compran en cualquier papelera, igual que bolsas de papel para productos más grandes.

Para colgar productos de las rejas ¡hay situaciones en las que podés diseñar tus productos para que no necesiten bolsa!

Alternativamente, podés usar celofán transparente para tus envoltorios. Se compra en cualquier librería artística, y tenés que confirmar que sea celofán y no polipropileno (plástico), pero es un derivado de plantas que se degrada en 180 días-ish. Se pega con cualquier pegamento escolar a base de agua, se corta con tijera o cuchilla de precisión, se pliega con regla lo más fácil y queda re bien.

Saber cuándo recurrir a un proveedor

Es tentador hacer todo nosotros mismos: es divertido, es más barato, y elimina la incertidumbre de "¿para cuándo estará? ¿quedará bien?" propia de probar un nuevo proveedor. Pero un proveedor puede comprar los insumos en bulto, gastando menos en empaques y envíos y reduciendo el sobrante en procesos productivos.

Muchos proveedores como las imprentas que hacen stickers con impresión UV sólo toman pedidos relativamente grandes (un metro cuadrado de vinilo ¡es un montón!). Te recomiendo trabajar en conjunto con otros artistas para compartir tiradas grandes, repartiendo el gasto (y el espacio) entre varios para no tener que stockear un montón de cosas que por ahí no necesitás realmente.

Nadie es perfecto

No te vuelvas loco pensando en esto. La verdad es que el cambio que se necesita tiene que venir a nivel gubernamental - limitaciones a la producción de empaques plásticos, promover la recuperación de electrónicos usados, fomentar la industria nacional para que hayan proveedores locales de muchas cosas que sólo se consiguen afuera.

Lo importante de estas acciones individuales es reducir el consumo de cosas que no son realmente necesarias, y construir el hábito de pensar ¿hay una mejor forma de hacer lo mismo que estoy haciendo?

Another symptom of the Corruption that I forgot to add there, but found in my initial notes: Time related things start feeling really weird. Sometimes it'll feel like things around them are moving especially quickly while they're moving really slow. Other times, it'll be the opposite. A good example would be that if someone was talking to them normally, they would perceive it as-- in the first case-- being unintelligibly (or close to it) fast. In the second case, it would seem unintelligibly (or close to it) slow.

This is because the "claim" (which is what's causing the Corruption in the first place) of the One True Voice/the Creationary Being that's trying to get into this existence, is essentially preventing them from being affected by the Stream of Time. It's a slow process, so it'll worsen the further along in the Corruption the infected person is; with those in early stages experiencing it periodically, and those in later stages experiencing it near constantly.

Gaza donation/aid scam

Hey lovelies, there have been a lot of scams going around of people pretending to be Gazans seeking aid. So this is a reminder that if a person shows up in your tumblr inbox who you don't know asking for money, don't give it to them. Ask further questions. If things don't line up on their account they are probably a scam.

Seemed legit enough right? I have now verified is a scam.

After asking some very simple questions they dodged all of the questions giving answers which didn't make sense.

Some of the things that didn't add up:

BIG RED FLAG

their account seemed to be four hours old, after turning on timestamps the oldest repost on their account (in fact all of their reposts) were four hours old - this is a massive red flag

said name was Tasneem Doreen Rajaab in the ask, email address is a completely different name, paypal is another different name 'Dorine Nanjala.' All three names are of different ethnic backgrounds making it unlikely this person was using a family member's account.

used very fluent english in their donation post but broken english in the ask and dms

Some of these things could be explained however when I reached out for clarification they dodged my questions and gave me nonsensical answers. A lot of these scams seem to use diabetes as part of their story so watch out for that.

Some scam busting blogs I'd recommend following are mysillypoker, kyra45, mangocheesecakes, and neechees.

When you receive an ask from a blog like this, reporting them for spam or phishing and reporting the PayPal account for fraudulent activity does help get these accounts taken down.

okay for starters i'm big into t4t maddiecaitvi and have been a transmasc butch vi truther since the beginning so i refer to him mostly as he / him but also sprinkle in some she / her as well. tmasc nonbinary vi is really really important to me as a transgender butch so if you're going to be mean or say something unkind about me using other pronouns for vi please just don't interact with this : C. i headcanon both maddie and caitlyn as transfem , not sure if that's relevant for these headcanons but just wanted to get that outta the way : 3

maddie's not really a talker as i mentioned before , being largely nonverbal or mute while regressed. on the rare occasion she's on the older side however vi is mam or mama and caitlyn is mummy. caitlyn calls maddie my sweet , sweet thing , baby , or pup while vi calls her pup(py) , nugget , munchkin or mads.

maddie's full name is madelyn but they never pull out the full name unless she's in Big Trouble. vi never really uses it , being the more laid back of the two but if maddie's done something Really naughty caitlyn'll hit her with the "madelyn graham nolen... what have you done ?"

maddie being super clumsy leads to lots of spills. both spills of whatever's in her sippy cup and her falling over. oh my gosh it's gotten to a point where she's only allowed to be fed bottles no matter how small she is because otherwise she'll manage to get her juice , or milk ALL over da place. (－‸ლ) sometimes maddie will fuss or plead to be able to have a sippy cause she's a "big girl !". her puppy eyes work on vi but caitlyn gets a little frustrated dealing with the inevitable mess later if maddie gets her way. caitlyn giving both maddie and vi a stern talking to , wagging her finger at them. vi gives her a sheepish smile while rubbing the back of her neck a bit embarrassed. maddie struggles to speak but gives caitlyn her best sorry puppy eyes.

maddie is a bit hard on herself. if she knows she's done something bad she'll go straight to one of her mamas in tears , offering up her stuffie or a favorite toy for them to take away as punishment. caitlyn and vi are very very gentle with her , careful to speak with her about her mistakes , having many conversations while she's not regressed about punishments. they're very adamant about never depriving her of her comforts no matter what she thinks she deserves , taking care to make sure she understands when she's genuinely done something versus when her brain is being mean to her. "it was just an accident , sweet thing. mummy's not angry with you , you're a good girl for letting me know."

maddie lying at vi's feet whenever possible because he always gives her the best head scratches. she'll bark and whine if he stops , nuzzling at his hand if he's fallen asleep and she wants more scratches or pets.

maddie's a very silly girl , always barking and babbling nonsense. both caitlyn and vi listen very attentively , nodding along to her nonsensical barks. vi letting out the occasional gasp : "is that right , nugget?" caitlyn can't help but smile when vi's little encouragements cause maddie to wag her tail , getting her all excited. caitlyn will keep her hand on maddie's back , giving her little pets and pats to keep her calm and her body safe. maddie is a big stimmer being autistic and sometimes if she gets overexcited she can hurt herself or someone else.

maddie is super fussy about being padded , she's really shy about it , getting really ashamed whenever she uses her diaps. she can get super bitey when it comes to diaper checks if she's trying to hide an accident or she'll hide away from caitlyn and vi. caitlyn is the only person she'll allow to change her and even that takes some convincing. she'll get weepy in the middle of it , she just feels so stupid and silly. caitlyn is so sweet and gentle with her though , giving her all the reassurance in the world and so many kisses. giving her a little pat on the bum when she's done , ruffling her hair. "that's better , isn't it silly girl?" maddie will growl in response but yes it is and she's very thankful for her mummy.

whenever maddie wants something she'll go to vi. her puppy eyes are lethal , vi can never say no she's just too cute !! caitlyn has more practice with them so she's a bit more immune but even she has to give in sometimes.

vi loves playing with maddie , she's always down to play fetch with her or let maddie indulge in a little tug of war with a toy. vi's never actually trying to keep something away from her it's all just for play but maddie's too little to know that. if vi's feeling extra silly he'll bark back at maddie. caitlyn rolls her eyes every time but fails to hide her grin and gives both her puppies head scratches.

maddie has her own bed but she never sleeps in it while regressed. she sleeps at her mamas' feet on their bed. they welcome her to come snuggle but usually she likes to sleep at their feet because it makes her feel even more like a puppy !! maddie's a little guard dog for her mamas ! if she's feeling suuper super baby though she'll nestle in between vi and caitlyn , curling up in a little ball with her back against vi's chest and head buried in caitlyn's. she's gotta be touching both mamas or else she'll get fussy , she's just a baby after all she's still working on the whole object permanence thing x p .

oh my gosh this really got me to yapping.... and i've so much more to say however it is now 3:17 in da morning and this has gotten quite long so i suppose this is long enough for one part. hjfksjjnsmk who let mrs. autism out of her cage... i hope these are coherent i've not proofread ε-(´・｀)

Backstory: as a baby, they were picked up off the side of the road, but they looked a little strange. Growing up in California, they were raised by a family of one mother, six sisters and one brother, being the third oldest of the group. They wear a human disguise because they are a secret alien shapeshifter exploring earth! (They are actually born from Venus…)

Appearance:

Evan’s brown eye color matches their hair, although Eva’s eyes are a lighter brown.

Both of their hair is the same brown, but a blue and red/pink ombré.

BLU bandit, aka Evan, has somewhat crooked teeth (and find the excuse to wear their scarf more often to hide it. Mostly, to hide their smile). But Eva’s teeth are straighter, being the cloning process. Evan also has rather sharp canines.

Both bandits have beauty marks (moles) in the same spots.

Eva’s skin is slightly darker than Evan’s due to being in the sun more

Red bandit’s hair is a bit straighter, and shorter In the back. Blu bandit’s hair is more wavy

Facts:

both Bandit’s use they/them pronouns.

The BLU Bandit is actually the original, the RED being the true clone. Both bandits often, casually, switch teams because they get along with them better. They only kill their friends on the battlefield. (My headcanon is that the blue team is all clones of the red team, being born into the mindset of war, which is why some mercenaries may be more serious than the RED team.)

A strange fact about Eva, is that during Evan’s cloning, they were recognized as a human, therefor, they are not an alien like the BLU Bandit.

Eva is rather monotone and speaks a lot less than Evan. Although, they are kinder if you get to know them, despite looking angry as a resting face.

Evan has a tortoiseshell cat named Molly, back at home

They shake violently when having caffeine, and since they have anxiety they either get a burst of energy, or get anxious (choosing to ease their nerves by running or dancing), so they ‘aren’t allowed’ to have it, but would do anything to get their hands on coffee cause they love the taste.

Oddly enough, BLU Bandit melts (literally) when they feel a strong emotion (like nervousness, excitement, or extreme pain - so they often melt when they die during battle), but it’s somehow a normal thing to the others. (Melts into a puddle, but always returns in one piece)

Relationships:

Scout: He’s just too much similar to Bandit. They often bicker (usually in a playful way). Though sometimes, they like to talk about comics together.. they have a relationship similar of siblings.

[Bandit calls Scout; Chucklehead (to mock him), Jerms, Jay. Scout calls Bandit; Bandy, four eyes, amigo (to mock them), Copy-cat, Ban-Ban]

Their duo name would be called Comic Twins

Pyro: Bandit and Pyro love to craft together! Even if it’s with the blood and guts of their enemies. Evan is also a good translator to his mumbling.

Their duo name would be called Gender who? (Lol)

Soldier: These two often play fight like animals, but Bandit teases him more than actually doing something. They bond over their love for raccoons and rockets! Bandit sees him like an uncle or a ‘stupid older brother’.

[Bandit calls Soldier; Solly, Sol, Jay-Dee, soldado, sky man. Solly calls Bandit; Rookie, Rocket pal, cadet, sneaky little thief]

Their duo name would be called Raccoon Rockets

Demoman: they are Very close with him - If Demoman isn’t with Solly, he’s with Bandit or both of them! And Bandit seems to have a little crush.. they exchange platonic kisses sometimes and play piano together, but perhaps it’s a bit more than friendly.

[Bandit calls Demoman; Demo, Guapo, Tav, Dee, Tavish-ing (like ravishing). Demo calls Bandit; Bandy, lad, Bonnie, Bee (to mimic the way they give nicknames), Ev]

Their duo name would be called Piano 4 Hands!

Heavy: Bandit and Heavy have a family like relationship. Like they do to others, bandit likes to mess with him, but he doesn’t react as much as the rest do. So taking that into consideration, Bandit is calmer around him and nicer.

Their duo name would be called Sticks and stones

Engineer: The last thing this Engineer needs is for a sneaky thief to steal parts of his machines! He gets frustrated with them sometimes, but they’ve got a silly thing going on. Bandit sees Engi like an uncle, and he sees them like an annoying little nephew.

Their duo name would be called Astronomical Smarts

Sniper: While sniper studies aliens, it doesn’t help that he works with one, though he doesn’t know for sure (even though he’s correct). Bandit knows of this, since Sniper sometimes tries to call them out, but they ignore it, protecting their secret, by playing it off as a joke. Besides that all, they’re quite good friends.

Medic: The Medic may be the only one Bandit is afraid of, just a little. Half of their interactions are passive-aggressive. Though, on some occasions they get along relatively well, and like to talk about silly things.

Spy: Their favorite thing to do is talk about romance and banter about how more sneaky one is. And sometimes, they secretly gossip to one another…

Pauling: Bandit has always admired Miss Pauling, and even hates when Scout flirts with her. Not because of jealously or anything of the like, but because they’re aware there’s a much better method to charming a woman like her and it’s almost offensive how he always fails (LOL). The two are friends that don’t interact so often, but bandit respects her
