Pulled by Fate: In which Dhana is finally reunited with Elithrar (@waterdeephero @pyritea) and Deekin in Cania. {{A couple years after I promised I would write this, Baka comes back swinging with fluffy angst. Hope Dhana is as good as she used to be!}}

Frigid cold arched across her skin, burning bone deep. But beyond that, to a point that her very soul ached. Booted feet trudged through the snow, crunching and crimping in the deeper drifts. Cheeks burned red, and even her furs couldn't keep the cold at bay. Days, she guessed, had passed, but it could be an eternity for all she knew.

One thing was for certain. Dhana wasn't in the overworld anymore.

The Reaper had confirmed that. Sucked through to their pocket plane, face first into cool obsidian tiles, Dhana had awoken with a start. Last she knew, a denizen of Mephistopheles had thrust a greatsword through her chest. Panicking, scrambling to het feet, the meticulous monotone of the ethereal presence filled her mind.

"What is your will, sojourner?"

Now she was cast out into the baltic, infernal infested hellscape, awaiting what, she knew not. Crouched down by a measley fire, those berries filling a hole and heat in her belly for a short time. Once vibrant sepia eyes look on vacantly into the space before her.

"Deekin isn't sure, but perhaps Boss might find out?"

Those words rip her heart wide open, until she bleeds salty tears in its wake. Soft pattering, clawed feet, hopping through the snow after their leader. Her tongue feels like cotton in her mouth, her head too full of both painful and familiar memories that she feels like she might faint.

Deekin. Of course, the lovable scaley kobold hopped along beside a taller, willowy cloaked figure, with an equally familiar and graceful gait.

Hunting for recognisable features beneath the tanned, furlined cloak, Dhana spies the gorgeous shock of gingery gold hair, angular features, soft lips. Another painful clench of her heart, and her feet are stumbling after the pair in the snow.

How can she not?! Like a string of fate, her soul and being was bound to those walking only a couple feet ahead. But her throat is clenched shut with unspoken grief and need for them both. Her hand outstretched, all long, slender fingers, tattooed and calloused. Her lips part, eyes filling with tears as she wills this not to be another fever dream.

"E-Eli...thrar-"

Emotion cracks her voice, turning it gravelly as it echoes out in the space between them. The reaction is instant, as if both figures before her are struck with an arrow, the taller of the two freezing in place.

Deekin is the first to turn. And when his beady eyes lock onto Dhana's form, a shrill cry of anguish and disbelief emits the kobold.

"B-Boss?!"

He doesn't wait on ceremony, doesn't care for her apologies or excuses. No, Deekin charges towards the sorceress and latches onto her leg as tightly as he can. From the wetting of her leggings, it is clear the proof reptilian is equally moved.

Instinct has her bending down to him, bundling the little fella in her arms and letting out a mournful sound as she buries her head into his scaley shoulder. She rocks him for a moment, unleashing their shared grief. When at last Dhana pulls back, warpaint smudged, eyes red and nose snuffly, her eyes catch on the sight of leather boots in her periphery.

A quiver of pure, unadulterated joy and happiness washes over her as Elithrar's face comes into full view. Golden eyes are round, tears wavering as he barely holds himself back. Straightening, the blackette barely gets a breath in before the elf is engulfing her in a tight squeeze, mouth uttering words of shaky disbelief.

"D-Dhana...God's be good."

His warmth filled her nostrils; that familiar scent of incense, musky amd slight sweat, it was all so nostalgic. Dhana let herself settle into Elithrar's tight embrace, relishing in his soft caresses to her back.

"I-I n-never thought I would

get the c-chance to see you again," The cleric squeezed her tighter, and sliding up her back as that soft, tanned nose is pressed into her shoulder. Tears trickle silently down her cheeks, pressing herself firmly against his warm form. Heart clenching, arms tightning about him, Dhana manages out words that Elithrar is also trying to communicate.

"Gods I have missed you, so much."

Fingers delve into fabric, desperately seeking more contact, the need to be closer almost all consuming.

But here, in Elithrar's arms is exactly where her heart belongs, with Deekin at their side. Just...just like old times...like it should be...

And this time, Dhana would fight tooth and nail to remain there. Even the Archdevil himself.

Elsewise, I've been playing through the Trine series with my brother (we're now on 4) and I'm realizing I need to start working on my sweater again if I want to finish it by Thanksgiving...

currently watching: Quantum Leap and just started trying out Dragon Goes House-Hunting (I don't know if I can recommend either lol. Quantum Leap feels like comfort food to me, it's easy to watch and fun, but it has definitely aged. Dragon Goes House-Hunting is kinda cute and harmless fun so far which is good cause the bar is in hell for anime rn, but it's not ground-breaking either.)

last movie: The Fly (interesting but very gross, body horror isn't my favorite thing lol)

sweet/spicy/savory: I love all three equally

current obsession: I'm kinda between obsessions at the moment and it's kinda frustrating. I like having something to latch onto for a while but right now I just switch between different things without sticking with anything. :/

This music is hauntingly nostalgic <3 After Baldur’s Gate 1+2, Icewind Dale 1+2 were my first Forgotten Realms games when I was 10. Also, this and the Kuldahar Theme from IWD1 very much remind me of the Academy and Master Drogan. @waterdeephero / @pyritea I am plotting ideas for Dhana and Elithrar’s return to the Academy, with this music as inspiration =D

I replay the game lately and you gain back the stuff your temporary compagnons bad ! I had for exemple Leski's armors in Ostagar, after Brosca origins. :)

Well, what about people with small chest? Are we define by our physical appearance or what we are deeply and what we do? What about woman with cancer then? That's ridiculous and unfair for a lot of people. You have all my sympathy!

I hope it will get better, and I'm sorry if I didn't express myself clearly, (English is not my first language). I hope what I say doesn't make you uncomfortable.

1. the last book I read:

The last book I finished (just yesterday) was The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley. It had been on my to-read and I saw it on the shelf at the library so I took it. I enjoyed it, I think it’s well written and the main character realistically flawed in an interesting way, but I don’t know that I would ever reread.

2. a book I recommend:

Depends on who I’m recommending to, but I did actually in real life recommend Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid to a friend and she read it (although she didn’t enjoy it as much as I did).

3. a book that I couldn’t put down:

I read quickly, so I either read books in one day or it takes me multiple days of reading a few chapters at a time, but I absolutely devoured The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon. Stay up past bedtime to finish reading levels of hooked, which is rare for me as an adult.

4. a book that I’ve read twice (or more):

I reread more in my childhood, but a series (that I read in childhood admittedly) that I’m intentionally re-reading now is the Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn trilogy by Tad Williams. Currently I’m on volume 3(.1), To Green Angel Tower, part 1 because the book is too long to publish in one mass market paperback volume. (The original form of the book I read was all one volume).

5. a book on my TBR:

I either own books because I love them, or because I want to read them, and The Final Strife by Saara El-Arifi is in the latter category. I originally got it from the library, didn’t finish it, put it on my christmas list and received it, and now it’s sitting on my shelf waiting for the stars to align and actually read it.

6. a book I’ve put down:

Last book I intentionally put down was The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang. Not because of the quality or anything, I’m just extremely uninterested in school stories right now.

7. a book on my wish list:

I am extremely looking forward to The Lotus Empire by Tasha Suri coming out later this year.

8. a favourite book from childhood:

Watership Down by Richard Adams is the book that I’ve read most in my life, to the point that my copy is falling apart.

9. a book you would give to a friend:

Is this either A) to lend or B) as a present, in which case A) no I hate lending my books to people. If it’s B) it supremely depends on the person and what they like reading. Hopefully I would give them something they want. I don’t like this question.

10. a book of poetry or lyrics you own:

I don’t really own short poetry, but I do have multiple Shakespeare plays and also national epic poems. So let’s call out The Kalevala by Elias Lönnrot (translated Keith Bosley) which is a beautiful work of poetry, even translated, and it touched me to my soul and I love it and it makes no goddamn sense.

11. a nonfiction book you own:

I have one history book that I have two copies of (by accident) but I’ve kept both because they’re actually slightly different! The Influence of Sea Power Upon History 1660-1783 by A.T. Mahan, but the second is a larger copy with more pictures that’s 1660-1805 for some reason!

12. what are you currently reading:

I have, in progress, The Unbroken by C.L. Clark, To Green Angel Tower, Part 1 by Tad Williams, and The Journey to the West, Volume 1 translated Anthony C. Yu.

13. what are you planning on reading next:

I just picked up from the library today Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Volume 4 by Kanehito Yamada and The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo!

Hehe thanks! I've had this idea a while ago, it's always in the back of my mind. It'd be a bit of a murder mystery and a bit of a romance that involves a ghost. But because it is a murder mystery, I need a good outline before starting. I've not been able to figure it out yet, but maybe some day!

I'm also not sure yet if I want to write it in english or french.
