One thing that always kind of bothered me is like how Cassie did Helen’s relationship with her siblings

BY THIS I mean in lady midnight we only know that Julian talks to her (like spefically mentioned) and than in QOOAD they all treat her like a stranger.

QOOAD I can excuse due to the fact they just lost there sister ECT buttttt, did no one else in the family talk to her?? When she was exiled, Julian was about 12-13, which makes Ty & Livvy 10-11… like surely they also remembered Helen enough to send her letters. Also she invited them all to her wedding that was around I think a year after the war.

Was this mentioned before and I’m just being silly??? Like whyyyy did no one send Helen a good ole letter 😭

I think about Thule!Livvy at least twice a week... like that poor girl saw all her family die, had to sacrifize her boyfriend (aka. the only person she had left), and had to help a version of her sibling that she would never be able to meet in her own world to defeat the evil and find a way to go back to a happier dimension she will never be able to live in.

Can't wait for her comeback in TWP and the first meeting with Ty, I'm telling you I will CRY

Also can't wait for Livvy meeting Raphael again, bet it will be after it's revealed that she was a traitor and he will be disappointed omg the drama

The Kit and Ty urge to associate one another with light or electricity like:

The first time Kit sees Ty he feels dazed like “a bright camera flash had gone off in his eyes”

Ty saying to Kit “You may not yourself be luminous, but you are an extraordinary conductor of light” (life changing btw)

When Ty absentmindedly brushes Kit’s hair out his face, Kit feels like he’s just been given an electric shock

“‘Blackthorns,’ said Ty, with a dazzling smile”

ok wait INTRIGUING, butttt i think in one of the extras featuring janus (forever fallen i think? the one in ghosts of the shadow market) janus mentions that the last time he saw simon in thule, simon had said that he was going to kill him. and simon never said anything of the sort canonically, if im not mistaken, so he must’ve been around when thule’s original jace was bonded to sebastian and corrupted.

plus from what tessa’s saying i think lilith was still hit by the mark of cain— it was the other demon helping that really made the difference, i believe.

ok here's a theory i've had since 2018 that i never shared

in chapter 19 of qoaad, thule!tessa says this:

“And I have seen, a little, into other worlds—into their [emma and julian's] world in particular. It is closer to this one than we might like to think.”

“Our two timelines split at the Battle of the Burren. In your world, the demon Lilith was too weak to render Sebastian Morgenstern much help. In Thule, another demon gave aid and strength to Lilith. She was able to kill Clary Fairchild, and that’s where our timelines split—only seven years ago.”

it's not clear how much of the world she's seen, so i'll use this to make room for my theory

tessa said the timelines split at the battle of the burren, and she says "lilith was too weak", but she doesn't mention why

maybe she doesn't know it was bc of the mark of cain bc she doesn't know that simon exists (emma and julian never mentioned him)

so i always thought maybe he wasn't there

and why wouldn't he not be there? bc he's dead (that would be the only way he would be away from clary yk)

now simon being dead isn't new, is it? no, because he's a vampire!

so he's been dead before, and in our world he came back as a vampire. but what if clary decided to stake him instead of bury him back in city of ashes?

then he wouldn't even be there to get the mark of cain, much less use it, and lilith wouldn't have been defeated in city of fallen angels (the whole plot of that book wouldn't have happened besides the jace being possesed by sebastian thing)

so yeah i think thule!simon died that one time and stayed dead

and this fits bc if clary was the reason they won the battle, simon also being part of the reason is pure parabatai realness

Thule is honestly so gut wrenching, the entire time in QOAAD I was so sad reading the Thule chapters. It honestly lives rent free in my head how messed up it all is 😭

Especially thinking about the travesty that is Herongraystairs - my theory is that since Jem died a silent brother, he didn’t reunite with Will in the afterlife (in TLH they said smth about silent brother souls going somewhere different to shadowhunter souls)

When you realise Sebastian did turn the world into hell when he created Thule.

Everyone’s worst fears came to life. Julian looses his heart and Emma looses Julian and is unable to protect the blackthorn children. Alec takes magnus’ life away. Maryse was hurt by jace in the end. Isabelle made a blow that never delivered. Tavvy was taken away from his family by a demon. Simon, as Magnus said, is the last person still alive. Sebastian is alone. Livvy watched her entire family get murdered. Helen couldn’t contact her family again. Tessa is alone forever and living in a cave like the one mortmain put her in. Lily dies a prostitute’s death. Raphael sees what remained of another person he was supposed to protect. Luke failing to protect Jocelyn from another Morgenstern. Dru being left behind again. Jace thinking everyone is dead because of him. Clary never making a difference.

Reading QOOAD and seeing Magnus be mean to Ty about how raising the dead had severe consequences and than reading chain of thorns and seeing zero repercussions for raising the dead

I think an interesting alternative timeline to explore would be what if Helen came back earlier (aka before Livvy's death & everything going to shit), like end of lm/early los time wise. idc about the plot or anything, I more mean the impact on the characters this would have & their dynamics would change

because as soon as Mark is reunited with Helen he WILL be telling her basically everything about the Hunt & how he is feeling at the moment in time. this is not super obvious nor a point of contention in qooad given everything else that is happening, but in los it would be, especially with the plot surrounding Kieran. like you spend a whole book trying to reconnect with your older brother but not knowing how because so much has changed but the minute your sister is back he tells her every thing you didn't even know he was keeping from you & it's Very Obvious (they're bad liars)

add on top of that, Helen being back massively shifts the whole family dynamic again. like all that tension Mark being back caused? yeah dial that to eleven 😭 plus I just remembered the Mark & Emma fake dating omg. Julian is going through it on every front imaginable. all your siblings are close to each other in ways they are not with you (see: Julian mourning that he can't just be Ty's brother like Mark can quote) you spent 5 years caring for your siblings as the oldest & all of a sudden you are not in charge anymore. you are once more the 3rd born and a child (to a degree). the love of your life is dating your brother. you want to murder him with burning lasers coming out of your eyes.

mind you Mark (& Helen) have not done anything wrong. Mark especially knows how Julian feels about it & would try his best to not step on Julian's toes. He probably shares this info with Helen and she would make the same conscious effort. but like given the situation some things are unavoidable and I think all those things, however small, would add up & massively tick off Julian lol. also I think you could turn this into a bonding moment between him & Dru because out of everyone she would get it the most imo

Cristina was so fucking aware of Emma’s obsesion with Jules. I mean, she is legit in love I was so obsessed with them when I was 14. I lived and breathed for blackstairs

Ty’s description is the longest and most profound, I see what you are doing Cassie. So he likes computers, his room is neat, books ordered by color (AND HE LIKES BLUE AND GOLD AND GREEN, AS IN KIT’s COLOURS). I adore Ty so much I would give my life for him.

“JULIAN WOULD CUT OFF HIS HAND IF YOU ASKED HIM TO” HE’S THE MAN. HE’S THE LIVING DESCRIPTION OF TOUCH HER AND YOU DIE. and he’s my favorite character and i’m not even gonna pretend I have not adored everything he has ever done. first of all, I don’t remember a single thing. I read the book just once in 2016 and I just remember vibes and very specific (and only a few) scenes. This to say, everything is gonna surprise me

I DIDNT REMEMBER KIT’S POV IN THE PROLOGUE!!! I obviously didn’t know shit about him when I read it first and it just didn’t stick. BUT HELL IT’S STUCK NOW.

He’s so Herondale coded it’s almost obvious who he is. How can he be so flirty???

Also. Look, I knew Jhonny was abusive, I just didn’t remember the specifics, and it hurts. Kit has holes in the knees of his jeans, and his father has soo much money but still doesn’t let him use it to buy new clothes!??? I felt so sad for him, but he’s still a very curious, funny and lovely kid. I just love him so much and I had missed him so😔

(That’s it. I only had time to read the prologue. More struggles coming tonight I guess)

i did watch the show first (years and years ago, around when qooad was released, not that i knew it yet) before i even knew what the books were and reading them was a religious experience. how did the show leave out almost everything that made them alec and magnus?? how could they do that to them?

i truly hate the show bc YOU GUYS DONT KNOW WHAT YOURE MISSING WHEN YOU WATCH THE SHOW BEFORE READING THE BOOKS

you dont know that magnus’ magic is the same striking blue as alec’s eyes

you dont know alec’s eyes are the same color as the ancestors of a family so intertwined with his

you don’t know that magnus sees ghosts in the blue of alec’s eyes

you don’t know magnus is two inches taller than alec

you dont know that alec loves that magnus is taller than him

you don’t know that they dated in secret for months

you dont know alec’s wardrobe is absolutely hopeless and he only wears years old worn out sweaters with holes in the cuffs and magnus loves it

you dont know that sometimes magnus wears his worn out sweaters

you dont know that they didnt get married for years until alec became consul and they could get married in warlock blue and shadowhunter gold under his new law

you dont know they have two kids, before they ever married

you dont know their first son is named after alec’s brother max, who actually died during the war

you dont know that max’s skin is blue, and his eyes are just a shade darker than alec’s

you dont know that alec loved one man so much he changed the world for him
