Phil happily sat back and let Etoiles kill the dinosaurs for him...insane about it. Etoiles telling them all to run, that he'll take the agro. He was so so happy to take those fights. Phil's eyes, the sound of his laughs spurring Etoiles to fight harder, to maybe show off a little. Codebreakers....codebreakers....thinking about you

qMissa being the sunshine with two literal attack dogs. Anyone says anything bad about Missa and they're dealing with Etoiles and Philza. Phil would be very passive aggressive and casually insulting while Etoiles just starts yelling them and telling them that Missa is the greatest thing exist.

But the moment Missa says anything bad about himself (cuz lets face it he's very self conscious and self deprecating when it comes to his and Phil's relationship) Etoiles and Phil are immediately hyping him up and complimenting him and doing everything they can to make him feel better. Etoiles being the best hype man on the island wouldn't stop saying how awesome and cool Missa is, Phil would be affectionately insulting Missa and hugging him and giving him only the best things he has to offer.

Etoiles watches the man with an odd fascinantion. He isn't quite sure why he's so interested in Phil, but he always has been. Since he ended up on this island, he had always wanted to know more about Phil.

Phil is the only person here that Etoiles was unsure of. He had properly met everyone else long ago, but never Phil. It seems like it's not completely by choice, something keeps him away from the new arrivals. It's strange and Etoiles is almost certain this is what intrigues him so much.

A few people had told Etoiles that Phil used to be good friends with everyone. Especially Fit. That's who he asks when he becomes curious about the whole thing. He can't keep his interest concealed anymore, he has to ask eventually.

The answer he gets is unexpected.

"Phil just... He doesn't want anything to do with us anymore. One day, he disappeared, left his kids, his husband, his friends and everything behind and never came back." Fit explains with some vague hand gestures.

Etoiles tilts his head. "But he's right here. He's at the Favela with Cellbit and Badboy."

"Yeah but he's not here. He used to live on the wall, with Missa and Chayanne but he left. He's still on the island but that doesn't mean he's still with us, if that makes any sense?" Fit asks. He's trying to convey a feeling that he isn't sure how to translate.

"So, he's different? Something changed him so much it's like he's not even here." Etoiles guesses.

"Yeah! Like that. He's so different I hardly even recognize him. He's not the guy I knew, he's nothing like him." Fit shrugs with a defeated seeming sigh.

"Do you know why?"

"No! That's the worst part, nobody fucking knows why! He just... Decided he didn't want anything to do with us anymore."

"But he's with people right now?"

"Because he's like- an honorary Brazilian. It's weird! He started dating Forever and just... left." Fit groans. "We don't know what happened."

It was a strange thing, Etoiles wasn't quite sure what to make of it. What Fit told him was not a full picture, an incomplete story. The wrong side. He tries the Brazilians, each one brushes him off with varying levels of anxiety. He tries not to ask when Phil is around, but now that he's really thinking about it, he never does see Phil away from them.

And now that he's paying attention, Phil seems to sustain a new injury each day. He's limping more than usual today, Etoiles notices. The next day, he can't even stand. What is really happening here? He has to ask Phil.

He does.

He decides that the only chance he'll get is when Phil is sat alone. He feels bad interrupting his alone time but he has to know.

"Philza!" Etoiles calls, making the man in question jump. He seems much more afraid than a normal person should be.

Phil doesn't respond, doesn't speak as Etoiles sits next to him.

"I don't think we've really spoken before! I've heard a lot of things about you. Varied opinions from many people." Etoiles laughs, watching Phil for an expression change. It doesn't seem like he's taking in anything that Etoiles is saying.

It's sad.

"Are you... okay?" Etoiles tries to ask.

Phil curls in on himself, pulling his knees closer to his chest as he pointedly ignores the man.

"Are you going to speak to me?"

A muffled noise comes in response. It's not a word. Hardly even a sound, Etoiles almost misses it.

"I wanted to ask you something." Etoiles says regardless.

Phil glances at him.

Etoiles takes it as a go-ahead.

"What happened? With you and Forever?"

Phil's eyes dart away.

"Something bad, I guess." Etoiles laughs, watching for Phil's reaction.

Phil gives no response.

"I've heard from others that something... Bad happened when you and him got together. I don't think that's your fault. I don't want to believe them when I haven't heard from you."

Phil is silent for a long moment. Etoiles almost speaks again before Phil finally gives a verbal response.

"I never wanted this." He chokes out, voice strained and quiet.

Etoiles smiles with satisfaction, "I didn't think you did. He took you?"

Phil nods. "I'm not supposed to tell anyone."

"Because he'll hurt you?" Etoiles asks, although he already knows the answer. Confirmation comes in a small nod. "Am I the only one that knows?"

Phil shakes his head. "The Brazilians all know, and Quackity."

That shocks Etoiles. "They know? And they do nothing?"

"They can't do anything."

"Why not?! What is wrong with them? Do they not care?" Etoiles can't help the spark of anger that ignites in his chest.

"They don't want to hurt Forever." Phil's voice drops to a mutter. He sounds like he doesn't want to admit it.

"They'd rather you get hurt instead?" Etoiles exclaims, disbelief evident in his tone.

Phil shrinks in on himself again. "They don't want to lose him. They're family." His voice catches in his throat.

Etoiles hesitates, "Are you not too?"

"Not like Forever." Phil shakes his head. "What they have is special. Different."

"Hm. I see." Etoiles looks down at his lap. "Well, you can be my family. Why don't you come with me and Pomme tomorrow?"

Phil lifts his head, a look of confusion and disbelief painting his features. "I... I don't know if I can."

"Baghera can. She's Forever's sister, you know?" Etoiles laughs. "Come on! It will be fun."

A moment passes, silence fills the air between them. The wind blows, the leaves rustle. It's calm.

"I'd like that."
