So. Let me get this straight (well not STRAIGHT but you know what I mean LMAO) Jungryeok:
Yelled "I LOVE YOU" to Quackity as his first impression (also mentioned THE QSMP GLOBAL SERVER multiple times. King)
Has the energy and volume of an illegal power plant (and the humor to match)
Knows SO MANY little bits of language that he picked up and continues to pick up easily (VAMOS!!, SEE YOU TOMORROW!!!, etc.)
Calls people trash (and Foolish Mr. Stupid)
Calls himself Chun-Sik's mother
INSTANTLY started swearing and exchanging swears at the top of his lungs when asked (to the dismay of Acau)
Drinks heavily and does not hesitate to talk about drinking heavily (TEQUILAAAAAA)
Had a cool talk about culture and their countries music with Roier and Quackity (and can also BEATBOX LIKE A BOSS)
Asked Chun-Sik if he wanted to ROB ACAU'S HOUSE
MADE KISSING NOISES WHEN FOOLISH AND ROIER HUGGED???
And MORE
Holy shit he really does fit right in
EDIT:
I forgot about how much Jungryeok is attached to Chun-Sik already KKKKKK
Like, mans is already filing a divorce for the kid's custody on day one (apparently he can already tell when the admin switches??? No mames)
Really the True QSMP Experience™️ <3

Aimsey: [While watching a Hideduo compilation, and seeing Fit message Pac "It's going to be ok"] Aww... That's fcked! Wait, what is it? "Sau–" wait, hold on. How do you say that? "Saudades?"
[He plays a clip of someone pronouncing Saudades and repeats the word several times to copy the pronunciation]
Aimsey: Ohhh, nostalgia! [Reading the definition] "Saudades is a word in Portuguese that claims no direct translation in English. However, a close translation in English would be "desiderium," defined as an ardent desire or longing, especially a feeling of loss or grief for something lost."
Aimsey: It's like "Hiraeth," yeah! It's like the Welsh word! Guys, I can teach you something! Wait- wait- wait– Chat I can teach you something!!! So, in Wales, in Welsh, we have a similar word! We have a similar word, ok? Um... [She plays an audio clip of someone pronouncing "Hiraeth"] Ok, ok, hold on, hold on. We have a similar word, yeah. So, in Welsh, there is the term "Hiraeth," which is a home– ok, I'm gonna explain: "Hiraeth" is a homesickness– lemme, lemme say it in chat... [They type out the word and verbally spell it out letter by letter] I'm gonna spam it.
Aimsey: SO! In Welsh, we have a very similar word, and the- like, the description for it is basically a deep longing for something, especially someone's home. And it's like a homesickness. [Pauses] And there are no direct English translation, but it basically mean like, a homesickness tinged with grief and sadness over the lost or departed. [Reading chat] Yes, you're all saying it right! Yeah, you're all saying it right! You're all saying it right!
Tumblr media
Aimsey learns what "saudades" means, and teaches chat a similar word in Welsh. One of my favorite things about QSMP is seeing people learning about other cultures and seeing them get SO EXCITED when they get an opportunity to share their own culture or language with others :')💕

Someone on twitter reminded me that even though Fit thinks they’re dating, to Pac, a brazilian, no they’re not. They’re "ficando" (hooking up), "saindo" (going out) at best, but not "namorando" (dating). Basically, they’re in a formal and committed situationship, but not even that if they didn’t talk about being exclusive. To us, going on one or even multiple dates doesn't mean anything. For them to officially be boyfriends, one of them needs to propose a relationship (pedido de namoro) with a promise ring (anel de namoro). This is why Cellbit wears a ring even though him and Lorena are not married or engaged.
So feel free to use this miscommunication in all your angsty fics :)
Edit: omg pac is living a "didn’t know they were dating" trope. How are they literally a romcom

more context for 악어(acau)'s translation (troubles? future troubles?)!
@blockgamepirate mentioned pronouns in context of translation in a reblog and that got me thinking about a bunch of things lmao but mostly about 반말 (banmal).
악어 decided really early on into his experience with the translator to try to use banmal bc he felt like the translator was picking up on it better, and he probably thought this because of two things:
banmal is usually shorter than 존댓말 (jondaemal) which is the polite/default way of speaking. and when i say default i mean my parents sometimes use it to refer to each other. it's more than just politeness, it's also a certain amount of respect? with younger people (high school, college, maybeeee graduate student age) people tend to use banmal with friends. older people use banmal to talk to children, and children use banmal except when talking to older people. i think the easiest way of showing just how much shorter banmal is, is to use "안녕" (korean "hello") as an example. "안녕" (annyeong) is actually banmal! you absolutely wouldn't say this to someone you've just met - you would say "안녕하세요" (annyeonghaseyo) which is jondaemal. but do you see how the second is three syllables longer? there's more of a margin of error with three more syllable and that's why the machine translator doesn't work as well with jondaemal.
The most casual way of speaking banmal uses pronouns. korean doesn't have gendered pronouns really, and the pronouns it does have seem. rude? generally? children use pronouns a lot and adults use pronouns when speaking to children but otherwise.... if you're not friends (and young honestly have yet to find an midsized (40+) adult regularly use pronouns) calling someone "you" is like. an insult. it works (that is, it doesn't feel like an insult) in 악어's stream for me because it felt like he was speaking in a significantly simpler/slower register after a while? like the register you'd use for kids. but i did want to put it out there! because if you're trying to learn korean through 악어's stream, you're probably listening to him use banmal! and that's just something to be aware of.
more pronoun thoughts! in terms of gender - korean doesn't have gendered pronouns. the closest you get in third person is something like "that girl" so machine translate will almost never get it right. it will default to masculine (in my experience) or the first person ("i" "me") so that's something to keep in mind. honestly my dad often defaults to masculine third person pronouns because he forgets pronouns are gendered in english and that there's more than one of them lmaooo. korean does gender relationships A Lot (oppa is the one that most people will know - brother from female speaker to older male listener) but pronouns wise there's. no gender oop.
i just wanted to put this out there because as 악어 becomes more a part of the qsmp community, we'll probably slowly pick up on the more regular patterns of awkward machine translation from an east asian language to english, and more specifically from korean to english. and if it's confusing that's ok! assume good faith - 악어 from what i can tell isn't a streamer who'll use insults a lot or curse, and his normal way of speaking to his audience is very soothing/polite/jondaemal, so i hope that people keep watching him throughout this introduction period!

Another thing
you might feel bad for quackity now that an actual union is getting involved and threatening serious repercussions
this really is to be expected and treating mayor projects like QSMP as bussinesses not just little projects should be standard
best case scenario this really shows to people everywhere that online workers deserve rights and have ways to act and the QSMP doesnt need to shut down but has mayor changes
if the QSMP makes it through and has a mayor restructuring it would be amazing to have such a cool project be run well

cc!bad opening up about how he had a powerful realization during rp earlier that he genuinely feels the qsmp members as family and how it surprised him. they are all from different cultures & speak different languages, he’s only known them for a few months, yet they are so dear to him
and he explained how with roleplay he usually goes all-in with the character to show the emotions, but with the qsmp he’s been feeling many real emotions. like the eggs who are fictional pixel characters but he’s felt genuine joy and grief about them.
T_T awwww ;;;; every qsmp member seems to share these feelings. many have said something like this before, especially those who went to the meetup in France. they view one another like a big happy family. this was always the purpose of qsmp but the level it’s grown to is something special. it warms my heart so much

i'm glad quackity is becoming more involved in running the actual server, and i think he's handling the situation as well as he can. but it sucks a lot that he wasn't ALREADY highly involved in how his passion project was run and how his money was spent. he is very young, he is a busy law student and content creator, he is intensely private. this was a tough lesson for him on responsibility.
i think those of us who've been watching since the beginning aren't super surprised by how little he knew about things behind the scenes. his character wasn't even allowed to /op because he wanted to be on equal footing with the other players. he constantly mentioned how he "doesn't know what's going to happen today" during events when other members would ask questions. he doesn't seem to know shit about the mods they've chosen or how the custom game mechanics work. he's doesn't play on the server much at all!
so seeing dream stans and other mcyt fans huff and puff about how quackity is lying and obviously knew about everything bad going on is odd. like this man really doesn't know shit about how his server is run or what happens on it. THAT'S a fair thing to criticize and something i agree is irresponsible. it's not fair to claim he's lying about not knowing things when every indication for the last year has pointed viewers in that direction. he's really been super hands off about everything except adding new languages, which is kind of his whole focus.
anyway kudos to the french admins and aypierre for speaking up and sparking workplace change. very on brand for the french LOL
also reminder to any younger viewers who are like REAAAALLY invested in qsmp to stop catastrophizing. it'll be alright. it's literally just minecraft, no one is in any danger.

No one touches me I'm just so utterly emotional about the fact that Quackity invited Cellbit to his passion project and now Cellbit invited Quackity to HIS passion project.
Like holy shit, a few months ago none of those people knew each other and look at them now making fucking international travels to meet and support each other

ngl im fucking terrified of how the fandom will act when the asian ccs get added and they are confronted with asian customs such as honorifics, asian cultural norms, and the language itself (ie words that are common in one language that sounds like a slur in another) and i know most of the fandom will be open and welcoming but idk im probably being way too pessimistic as someone who is asian and has seen the bs that people can spew esp regarding things like stereotypes

Roier would always respect Jaiden's place
For Roier, Jaiden is and will always be untouchable because that's the mother of his child, sometimes it's funny things like when Bobby called her "The Jaiden" and he screamed at him to respect her because she is his mother or today when he established that he and Jaiden are the parents
Sometimes even outside of Bobby situations like when Cellbit told him he went to spy on Jaiden and he got mad for a mili second until Cellbit told him it was to protect her and calmed down
Now I don't know exactly where their opinions about Cucurucho/Federation might lead their relationship but I know that Roier would always hold a place of respect for her

Tubbo: No don't- at least disable mines, 'cuz Chayanne nearly died the other day. He nearly- Chayanne nearly died the other day though, so like...
Foolish: Uhmm....
Tubbo: This is the most ethical one.
Fit: Tubbo, if you wanna disable mines, you are disrespecting the entire Hispanic community, don't you even fcking think of doing that, don't you even fcking think of doing that! How dare you disrespect the Hispanic community by disabling mines, what's wrong with you?!
Pac: [Losing it, clapping and dying of laughter]
Foolish: Yeah, I can't- I can't do that to Vegetta, that's one of his favorite things.

There are a lot of different traditions during Carnaval, but the allegoric cars players have been building are known to be part of the Parade of the Samba Schools, so I thought I'd explain how it works!
For starters, the Parade is a competition. Each team is called a samba school and they have their own flag and history. People can be really hard or die for their teams! Some are connected to soccer teams, like Gaviões da Fiel (the school) is connected to Corinthians. The two main parades (of this type of carnaval) happen in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
Each school has one hour to completely walk across the sambódromo, and in that hour they have to tell a story or message. That is one of the things they are judged on! The criteria are the drums, the samba-enredo (enredo literally means plot, but this is a genre of samba), the evolution (how the story develops), the harmony (is everyone singing together? Do the people in the parade know the lyrics?), the plot itself, the allegoric cars and accessories, the costumes, the opening act, and the mestre-sala and porta-bandeira.
The parade is divided into sections called alas, and each one of them functions as a chapter in the story being told and have their own separate choreography. The first one is the Comissão de Frente (the opening act). They set the tone for the rest of the team and the public, so it’s common to see celebrities here to get the audience hyped.
Tumblr media
Another crucial part is the drums. They are setting the beat that everyone is dancing to, so they shouldn’t make any mistakes. To both hype them and keep the pacing is the Rainha da Bateria (the Queen of the Drums). She’s a woman dancing samba in very minimal clothing but very heavy accessories. This is a very prestigious spot, the dream of any passista (this is what the samba dancers are called). Since they are the face of the parade, celebrities are sometimes given the position, and not all of them deserve it.
Tumblr media
There are other passistas atop the allegoric cars, but they are not the only type of dancers. There’s the Ala das Baianas (ala of the baiana women): older (usually black but not necessarily) women dancing in traditional clothing. Honestly one of my favorite parts of the parades.
Tumblr media
But my favorite part is the mestre-sala and porta-bandeira. There are several throughout the parade, but only the first one is graded. They are a couple: the man is the mestre-sala dancing around the porta-bandeira (literally 'flag carrier'), who dances with the school flag, and wears a big skirt, usually in the school colors. I wanted to be one when I was a kid, they dance doing twirls and it just looked like so much fun.
Tumblr media
There are other unnamed alas, of course, and the allegoric cars.
The samba schools are very tied to black history and black communities, so their stories are usually very powerful. Like the year they represented a former president as a blood sucking vampire with the presidential sash, or this year, where they showed a statue of a known slaver graffited and on fire. Seriously, some of these cars are insane, and most of them have moving parts while also being light enough to be pushed or motored across the sambódromo, but sturdy enough to support all the dancers on top of it. A true feat of engineering! See the size of the woman near the statue's feet compared to the whole thing?
Tumblr media
Most people celebrate carnaval by going to street parties called "bloco de carnaval" (basically a mini parade with live music), but these huge parade still get a big audience, despite streaming so late at night.
Tumblr media
Here's this year's presentation from Vai-Vai if you're curious to see everything in motion! Originally, I had put a link to Estácio de Sá's presentation, but some politicians want to apply sanctions to Vai-Vai because it represented cops as demons. A few days later, a white man attempted to kill a black man, and the black man was arrested despite witnesses telling the cops what really happened. When news broke out, they kept him in prison on claims of "resisting arrest." So, why is it wrong to say cops are devils?
Tumblr media
Anyways, the Vai-Vai presentation is about celebrating blackness and black creativity and resilience. Happy Carnaval! The winners this year were Mocidade Alegre in São Paulo and Unidos da Viradouro in Rio de Janeiro. You can look up their presentations if you want to.
