Hello Friends and Happy Tuesday!
After several weeks working to finish this year's quilt along pattern, I'm so excited to finally be sharing it with all of you!
This new pattern is called Blackwork Roads! The design of the pattern was inspired by modern blackwork embroidery, but uses traditional quiltwork methods!
September is the first month of this quilt along project, and includes both fabric selection and piecing instructions for the first chunk of the quilt!
Instructions for both of these can be found on the Fibre Arts blog!

Hmmmm should I be a Revenant? Should I cast aside the mortal, the biological, the natural and embrace the synthetic quiltwork that is my being anymore? Is my struggle to find a “self” that of not seeing the image clearly, or is it simply that I bear no “self” to find? That I am merely a construct of my own will, to be made and remade as many times as I desire?
…and can I find a color scheme I wouldn’t hate…?

Sooooo I have nearly $9k worth of quiltwork (coasters to bedsize) and original paintings in my shop right now. Selling one of the paintings would cover Cacoa's vet bills. Two would cover her bills plus one of our other debts, and money leftover for hiring a plumber before the wet season arrives.
Please consider purchasing my work. Listed prices start at $20, and I ship anywhere in the world that will accept cotton. The paintings will likely ship anywhere as well.
More items are going to be added pretty much every week until probably December. Gonna take a month off. Why? I need a break. My longest break this year was a little under two weeks, I think. We need the money, and my husband is thr only one who can work a Real Job.
Tumblr media
All purchases, donations, monthly support, and shop purchase will enter you into my giveaway. When I reach my goal of paying off Cacoa's ER bill ($1049) someone will be getting a free quilt. The goal after that will be $500 for a plumber. I will be doing this for every goal reached as thanks for helping me get there.
Thank you!
My work below:
I specialize in the use of color color and prints, with a great love for visual drama and stained glass windows.

Some updates/a brain dump
So I've been thinking about fic stuff lately. Are we shocked? No? Good.
I'm going to put it under a cut because there is going to be a lot of rambling
Harry Potter
So I'm going to rip apart a couple of fics and combine them. Some of you may know my old Sirius/Lily's sister fic? No? That's fine because I'm just taking her name and the fact that she was Lily's sister. I'm taking that and the title of a scrapped fic and we have Briar & Bloom, A Regulus Black Fanfiction. Poppy and Regulus are going to be gorgeous and devastating. I'm thinking it will be a duet. Briar & Bloom and Thistle & Thorn
Untitled Harry Potter Nonsense: I am scrapping and reworking my just for fun quiltwork Slytherin Fic. I had like 15 characters I was trying to weave (17 actually I forgot about 2) and that's too much, I'm cutting it back even tho it hurts my heart. Also thank you to @randomestfandoms-ocs for listening to me whine about it for far far too long. I am also doing a prequel Marauders era bit and a next gen because I'm trash
The prequel is going to be a Sirius/OC fic and I'm quite very excited
Also I need to finish Prince of Wrath. I have like 10 chapters left to write I think. I also have to start editing so I can go back to posting.
Jurassic World
I'm going to start working on Miranda's story, writing and outlines because I'm a pantser who pretends to be a plotter
Teen Wolf
I want to work on Eden's Fic so bad. I need to re-title it, plot it and get freakin' started. I've started it a few times but like none of it is exciting me. so Gonna have to fix that.
Descendants
I may or may not have a new OC who I'm going to plot out a fic for and dive into it because I'm less afraid of this than Rabbits.
I'm also going to start plotting Rabbits properly. I need to stop being afraid of it.
I'm sure there is so much more but that's where my brain is at right this second. I have a couple of Bridgerton OC ideas in my head but none of them are fully set (not that I've let that stop me before)

twice this morning on my dash i have seen an apparently cool photography or crafts project that i suspected was ai-generated and turned out to indeed be, and i thought hmm this is still cool i would like to reblog it. but i felt conflicted about it because #thecontroversy and i wonder if people would be mad at me. but i really feel that the best use of ai image generation is to create visual mockups of interesting combinations of concepts, as an artistic project. like those baroque sneakers that were going around a while back. or one of the ones i saw this morning which was quiltwork depicting sushi. both of those were visually pretty and interesting to look at and had an interesting and creative idea behind them, and also had clearly taken some human refining and shaping to make sure all the details were consistent, so i consider this to be art, or at the very least a neat and creative thing to look at. but i am nervous of #thecontroversy

The doll stopped in its dusting to inspect one of the curios it had been set to dust.
A small glass sphere, containing a miniature scene of a wintery wooden landscape.
It struck the doll as being very similar, though not exactly so to where it had first met it's Witch.
It had been a cold winter night and it had been a miserable little thing: frozen, starving and beaten, body covered with fist-sized bruises, that in turn covered older, fading bruises is a quiltwork of pain.
Resigned to dying from exposure or a wandering animal rather than to return home, it met the Witch's gaze.
The Witch smiled with rozy cheeks and a predator's grin and offered her a choice: become her thing, her tool. Labour for her. Not hard labour, but delicate, requiring deft hands and good eyes. She promised that there would be no shouting, no beatings. And love and praise , though given, would always be genuine and without hidden hooks to tear and bleed.
It accepted at once.
That was many years ago and the doll was more than content with its choice despite all it had lost.
Maybe it would have smiled contently, but that had been taken from it.
Maybe it would have laughed from joy,but that too had been taken.
Maybe it would have regretted it's choice? But that too, that had been taken from it.
So instead the doll twirled in place, did a little piruhette and continued dusting.
After all, what would a tool need such things for?

his shielded violet eyes follow her every movement. this stranger is tense, and rightly so; although they were less in quantity now, there are still quite an amount of dangerous beasts that live along these twisting mountain paths. ( dangerous beasts aside from him, that is. ) Clear, sitting on a nearby boulder, leans forward slightly.
he's never seen her before, but that much can be said of a lot of people. regardless, she doesn't seem to be openly hostile to him. he appreciates that. she may be one of the few non-comodeen that he can hold a brief conversation with; as such, her sharp inquires are met with a kind smile and a friendly chuckle.

"guilty as charged. i have been watching you. i didn't want you to run into an upset admantoise, although you seem to avoid danger quite well."
the boy-like beast kicks his legs idly, tilting his head a little.
"i don't come from here, but i do live in this quiltwork of worlds. how 'bout you? do you live here?"

I don’t think we ever ended up putting stuffing in me, did we?
My insides are actually anatomically correct intricate quiltwork. Unless you count the Gap. I still think we should shove stuffing in the Gap and see what happens

both are american cultural products widely and aggressively distributed and americans in international social circles self-centered, but that never amounts to anything more than scattered detritus — no one ever got a dictionary out of a novel. a potent understanding of the united states would take the same kind of effort any holistic or specialized understanding of a country one doesn't live in would, including the accounting for the fact that one doesn't live there and is cut off from whatever quiltwork form life there takes as stitches and tears between the people people do.

Faith Ringgold is best known for her storytelling quilt work. Ringgold was born on October 8, 1930 in New York City to Andrew Louis Jones and Willie Posey Jones. This was the time after the golden era of the Harlem Renaissance, but Ringgold’s childhood neighborhood was still beaming with much excitement and creativity. Ringgold grew up as the third child in a working-class family, often sick with asthma, such that she spent a lot of time making drawings and imagining that “the bridge was the magic highway to the rest of the world.”
Later Ringgold used the imagery of bridges in “The Woman on a Bridge Series,” as shown on one of the pages in a book titled Faith Ringgold : a view from the studio. On the other page, you can see a photograph of her parents, Willie Posey and Andrew Jones, Jr., in 1920.
Currently, the Museum of Modern Art is showing virtual views on Faith Ringgold’s work.
