begging pleading groveling to the halo community to realize that the new halo show is in a *DIFFERENT* timeline than the current halo canon, hence why cortana looks different, why there is a new team for john (but that doesn't mean we won't get blue team because we might!!), and why john will show his face!!!!!! because guess what! this show isn't meant to be you inserting yourself onto the basically blank canvas of master chief (not saying he is a boring character but like that's the whole point of the halo protags, it's for you as the consumer to put yourself in their shoes!), that's what the games are for! with this new show, they are gonna be able to explore things we normally wouldn't see john do in the games, e.g. take his helmet off (plus pablo's gotta get his glamour shots as john ofc!!)

if yall just went out of your way to simply make a quick google search and read what the creators and halo team have said about the show, you guys will see they have all of this planned out for a reason and why it's set in a different timeline! because pablo!john isn't true canon john don't worry. he is SILVER timeline canon john!!

In Ep4 when Lucy felt the aftereffects of being attacked when out w/Kai she naturally talked to him about it as her colleague. I wonder if, as Lucy & Kate are getting closer, they'll start to have conversations about this as well, considering their jobs. Lucy's no fresh novice, but if ep11 is her 1st undercover mission & it IS dangerous, how will it hit her in the short term? Whatever happens, I too would like to see them both solidify what they are to each other if that is to be intended.

I remember that scene with Lucy and Kai really surprised me because these shows don’t usually focus that much on how being attacked on the job affects the characters (unless it’s a whole multi episode story arc or something more serious). So I thought it was unusually /real/ that they had Kai and Lucy talking through that…

I feel like an undercover mission in particular would be emotionally and mentally draining (and now I’m thinking of the promo pic of Lucy crying in Jesse’s arms 😭)

I’d love to see Kate and Lucy talk more about how the job impacts them mentally—like, what’s a wlw relationship without a ton of processing right ?? 😂 Although despite that stereotype about queer women loving to process, neither Kate nor Lucy strikes me as the processing type? Kate because she’s a bit more reserved and Lucy because she seems very action oriented…I’m rambling now but much to consider! 🤔

Is it just me or is it really really weird and uncomfortable that in a story about a man being wrongfully convicted of a crime he didn’t commit that the police are still 100% unironically portrayed as the good guys?

Unfortunately comics—specifically those published under the Big Two umbrella—are mainstream, with a lot of active consumers leaning conservative. So while you might see the occasional copaganda criticism, you’ll find it in isolation and appealing towards the “one bad apple” rhetoric rather than anything actually substantial. But even knowing that, it remains like you said: beyond the bend uncomfortable for so much of a story to be riding on the curtails of this overt glorification of the police system when the origin point of the central conflict exists because of cops in the first place. The writing is just so painfully oblivious to its own story.
