HI HI HIIII I FINISHED UP THE SEQUELS AND THE PREQUELS OF STAR WARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hayden at the end as Anakin watching Luke omg. And the prequels are the best ever I'm obsessed with them. And did I mention how good Hayden is as Anakin. And Anakin and Padme!!!! Also R2 😭. I watched it cause of your blog so thank youuu bestie <3. Also forever gonna be sad/angry that Palpatine misused Anakin's fears and love for his family. And Anakin!!!!!!! And Obi-Wan too
Omgggg omg!!!! I am so happy you enjoyed it!!!! 🥺 Bless you for loving prequels as much as I do. Even though I love Star Wars as a whole, prequels have my entire heart and I am and always will be obsessed with them.
That scene at the end of ROTJ was so sweet ahhh. The fact Luke's kindness and love for his father saved Anakin from the darkness is so HSJKSKS. I'll never be normal about it. 🥺
P. S. If you have time and ever consider watching some more of Star Wars, I'd hiiiiighly recommend seeing Obi-Wan Kenobi TV show. It is set between episode III and episode IV, and it is one of my favorite parts of the entire story. So angsty and SO good. (It also has little Leia and little Luke who are a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e)
I'm so glad my blog ignited the spark for you to watch the movies and I am especially glad you loved them! ❤️
I'm curious, who do you consider your favorite character?

From a lore standpoint how do u explain Leia remembering her mother in rotj (she was very beautiful, kind, sad, etc.). When in rots Padmé passes away when Luke and Leia r both newborns? Like how would she remember her? And also how would Leia remember her if Luke didn't remember anything of her (I have no memory of my mother)?
Since there is no canon explanation I have a few theories.
The first is that Leia can recognize Force signatures very instinctively. She could feel Luke before they were born and that's why years later she says "she had always known [he was her brother]." She could probably feel Padmé's sadness, her kindness, her beauty (not in a superficial way, but in the way children always think their mother is the most beautiful person to exist.) The intensity of those things were strong enough to kill Padmé (her sadness specially) and that probably left a strong impression in Leia's memory.
The second theory is that the person Leia is actually remembering is Sabé, who was a Rebel spy, who probably knew the truth about Leia (or at least figured it out), who worked closely with Bail and who probably visited Leia which made her sad. Leia could feel the connection and probably assumed she was her birth mother who for some reason couldn't raise her. And at some point she stopped showing up.
My last theory is that Leia used to have Force dreams about Padmé, when she was little, and those dreams were so vivid and because childhood memories are so dream-like at some point she started to believe they were real. She knew in the way Force sensitive people Know Stuff who Padmé was, and that's basically what she says she remembers. Her mother, beautiful, kind, but sad.
I also think that the same way Luke found out the truth about their father Leia is the one who figures out who their mother was. She studied Padmé and her career and she probably started investigating once Luke said he had no memory of their mother. She probably was doing it as a reactionary measure, fuck their dad anyway, let's search for mom it's probably better to have something in common. I'm sure she found "Padmé Amidala, strong political opponent to the rise of Emperor Palpatine, friend and colleagues with Bail Organa, friend and ally with the Jedi, died days after the rise of the Empire and was very visibility pregnant, coincidental with the date her parents told her it was her birthday", they also have a striking resemblance, and there's something about the way she smiles in old holo recordings that remind Leia of Luke.... In the end the answer was right there.

in real life, i've been asked if i'm a star wars fan, and my response is always five years of awkward silence
idk like i need to evaluate all the facts:
i know a fair amount about specific parts of star wars lore
i have strong opinions on certain parts of star wars lore
(some of those strong opinions are Fuck You, Canon)
the words "star wars" bring up feelings of extreme rage
(once again Fuck Canon)
i can beat self-proclaimed star wars superfans at star wars trivia
however i also cannot remember the last time i watched tpm, aotc, rots, anh, esb, or rotj
i do remember when i watched tfa, tlj, and tros
(because they came out recently)
(and because i remember s c r e a m i n g)
i've never seen solo. and some other movies. i think? i don't even know what movies exist lmao
i have read star wars novels and novelizations though. i know about the existence of the shakespeare style books.
(i wrote an essay about rogue one)
(not entirely positive admittedly)
i haven't seen the mandalorian, book of boba fett, kenobi, the bad batch, most of the clone wars... is that ashoka show out? i don't even know
i know a bit of mando'a
i have spent days working on my aurebesh
i know my star wars swears
(i have accidentally used "kriff" and "kark" irl and idk what that says about me tbh)
i can quote a worrying amount of star wars
(but i rarely remember actually watching the clip in context)
i can sing and recognize most star wars themes on demand
i read star wars fanfiction
(at least 90% of which involves palpacreep getting fucked up the ass because Fuck Canon)
(at this point i don't even know what's canon anymore, other than that yan is NOT dooku's given name)
i have a star wars tumblr
(that does nothing but make bad jokes about count doodoo dooku)
(but HEY that does mean i AM aware of canon things like doo-doo-dooku and dooku's snide remarks about certain Little Green Trolls)
(no i haven't read dark rendezvous or jedi lost shut up)
i know too much about sifo-dyas
(i don't know how to pronounce his name because again, what's this? actually watching star wars? pfft)
(but i do know about dooku keeping his corpse. but actually i think that's legends. who cares)
so like. basically i don't like star wars enough to be a fan, but do know enough to be a superfan, but probably dislike it enough to be a hater.
anyways that needs to be condensed into a five-second answer for next time so i don't have to respond to questions like "oh so you're a fake fan?" or "oh so you're pretending to like star wars" or ---

Hello, if it's possible I would like to suggest a prompt. But please, feel free to take all the time you need or just ignore it if there is no inspiration ☺️ (I haven't done this before so sorry if I made mistake in description or you are not taking them anymore)
I have just been reading Balance 133 and thought about it, but it can be either sequel or another story. I was thinking about unhinged Vader/Vaderkin working as Palpatine's enforcer, still, planning his downfall and imagining himself as new emperor with Obi-Wan loyally at his side (because of course his gift from force will stay with him forever, he obviously enjoys being r*ped and wants Vader as much as he does).
Vader is as happy as a sith can be, BUT Obi-Wan miraculously gets away. Maybe before that, broken and too hurt to be kind and patient he even tells Vader that he despises him (but not Anakin he can't exactly see them as one person).
Vader lost in misery and unimaginable wrath/hurt/longing/jealousy looks for him everywhere, but there is literally no trace of Obi-Wan. But now, after finally HAVING Obi-Wan after being so close to his dream happiness he literally cannot function anymore. He is at his most broken.
I just want to see Vader being SO close to what he wanted, hell even having Obi-Wan and in some crazy way BELIEVING he wants and loves him too, but is too indoctrinated by jedi to admit it. And having it all literally thorn from him.
If it's not to your liking I completely understand, so please don't feel obligated to this one 😄
Hope you will have a nice day and I literally can't wait for any of your stories. I absolutely adore characterization you use for the disaster boys ❤️
I loved this so much but I could not do it justice!! Here's a little thing for it though:
1300 words | rated T
(I just love the idea of Vader's obsession level just going up that extra notch. There is nothing else in his head... Even his supposed redemption in RotJ... it's all a ploy to have Kenobi in his grasp once more...)

i think discussion of the prequel trilogy is really hampered when you consider the pt a stand-alone piece. it’s not! it’s only half the story. anakin skywalker’s story doesn’t end on mustafar; neither does obi-wan’s, and padmé’s influence lives far beyond on her death. the original trilogy is fait accompli. the main characters' story arcs in the pt work so because it was directly reverse engineered from the ot.
most, if not all, of the questions the ot brings up both mechanical as well as thematic (what happened to the jedi order? what about the twins' mom? what was the galaxy like before the empire? what caused anakin's fall?) are answered in the pt. equally, all of what appear to be loose threads at the end of the pt (what is the future of the jedi order, who is the best of the jedi? luke. what is the cure to the dark side? love, connection, it's how luke saves anakin. will the galaxy ever get better? yes, luke and leia are leaving the galaxy better than their parents left it) are answered in the ot.
you can't divorce the prequel trilogy from the fact that it is a tragedy. nothing about rotj would be triumphant if there was nothing for luke to redeem anakin from or anything left to fix. it's also, by definition, a prequel, so the characters are never going to entirely succeed, and that's their tragedy and dramatically ironic end. padmé never gets to reform the republic (she's murdered by the republic's killer); obi-wan doesn't get to see anakin defeat the sith (anakin destroys the order and joins the sith); and anakin never gets to free the slaves (instead he becomes one, again). who's at fault, here, for the state of the galaxy at the end of rots? everyone and no one. there's more blame to be assigned to some than others (palpatine, for one; anakin, who's doing the murdering) but these characters are not real people actually on trial at the hague. all the pt characters all have to have made irreversible mistakes in someway, by demand of fate and plot, wherein every single character's decision––especially those made with the best intentions––will doom them in some horrific, completely unforeseeable manner.
and all of this would be an understandable end to a tragedy. but the last scenes of rots, like fortinbras arriving to find horatio, do provide hope and luke and leia's existence begin to transition the story to the classical hero's journey. the two trilogies are fundamentally intertwined, spiritual sisters and spiritual antitheses, and it's only the original trilogy that can provide answers and solutions to the pt's problems. parts of obi-wan, padmé, and anakin's characters fundamentally could not be resolved without the characters of the ot. and there's real beauty to it! the relief, the comfort, the hope you feel when binary sunset plays at the end of rots is what makes the ot's triumph so much more emotional in light of the pt's dark tragedy.

ok but if we're going to lean into the "jedi as space catholics" as they r developed re: the prequels i want go full fucking historical catholic. i want a famous jedi who lived up on a pillar for 37 years. im goin whole hog on a jedi who bricked herself into wall in the temple to achieve spiritual enlightenment. FLAGELLANTS. litcherally all of thomas à becket, up to and including selling his blood as a souvenir. alright but jedi pilgrimage? jedi whose cloaks are covered in a million different tiny pilgrimage badges from all over the galaxy? meanwhile other jedi writing screeds about how veneration vis a vis an object is sacrilegious & bastardization of meditation? i want NOTHING more than to read a jedi summa theologica. "how many midicholrians can fit on the head of a pin?" is considered with absolutely unironic dead seriousness. it would be so, so boring and completely atrocious. i want it ALL

i am a little mystified by the persistent idea that the jedi order has “mindhealers” that were, like, psychologists with magic emotional powers. i can’t find any mention of this outside fanfic? where did it come from?? why did it come from??? i mean. logically. would the jedi still be Like That ™ if they had any sort of psychology, counseling, and/or psychiatric help. really

luke’s scene in rotj where he throws down his lightsaber and says, “I’ll never turn to the dark side. you failed, your highness. i am a jedi, like my father before me,” makes me more and more emotional each time i see it. it’s such a triumph and it’s such a brave stand—not only because luke is literally facing down death with no real expectations of escaping the death star ii, which on its own has such impact—but because he is more or less declaring himself a heretic. the only two jedi left alive do not believe vader can be saved. vader himself believes he is far past saving. palpatine is so poised for victory, so assured in his complete control over not only luke’s fall but also his control over vader, that he is happy to torture luke in front of vader, absolutely convinced that vader will do nothing to stop it. in light of the prequel trilogy, it’s made even more powerful: the jedi disavowed having children as an extension of attachments, a matter of course for the old jedi order. but when luke is in his moment of greatest need, he calls out to his father, and his father answers. ultimately, it’s their forbidden familial relationship that defines them as jedi—luke is becomes a jedi in honor of his father, and his father turns back from the dark side (a feat thought impossible until that very instance) and recalls the jedi knight anakin skywalker, all for his son. and that’s all in defiance of what the jedi were told to be, what obi-wan and yoda believed, what palpatine never thought possible! luke redefines what a jedi is when he throws down his weapon. he trusts in the power of his connection to his father, their attachment to each other, and when he does that? luke skywalker topples the empire.

I find it so distracting in fanfics when rots Anakin’s hair is described as blond
just because it used to be blond doesn’t mean its still blond
yes, he was very blond as a kid, and you can mayyybe get away with dark or dirty blond into his late padawan years, but by rots it definitely ain’t blond anymore
I had very blond hair as a kid, like blonder than baby Anakin, but by the time I hit my mid teens it had settled into the darker end of brunette and that’s where it has stayed. It would be ridiculous to call my hair blond these days solely because it was blond when I was much younger

ROTJ Novelization by James Kahn: A Scene
Vader: [wheezing] Just once... let me look on you with my own eyes, Luke.
Luke, tearing up: [takes his mask off]
Vader: It’s all right... I know I’m ugly.
Luke: No, that’s not—
Vader: But once? Once, I was super hot.
Luke: [blinks]
Vader: Possibly even hotter than Obi-Wan, though opinions were divided on that point. Judge for yourself.
[he fumbles with a malfunctioning hand to press a button on his suit and a secret compartment pops open, spilling dozens of holos of Anakin and Obi-Wan during the Clone Wars]
Vader: Ah, Obi-Wan. What was his problem, anyway? We were best friends for so long. We had some kind of falling out... can’t for the life of me remember why.
Vader: Oh well, must not have been that important.
[explosions rock the hangar bay] [the Death Star begins to come apart under the rebel assault]
Vader: I smell... wildflowers. [dies]
Luke: [stares]
Luke: [softly] What the kriff?

Glimpses - a time to rend
heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Welp, I kept putting this off until finally forcing myself to dedicate a chunk of evening to getting this posted.  While I was still writing actively, I started to spend more time crafting “personal fics,” for one reader at a time.  There’s an odd sort of pleasure making something for just one set of eyeballs.  Now that I just can’t find the time or muster the spoons to keep my WIPs alive *muffled sobbing* I’m desperate and slutty enough for Validation™ to drag these out of Google docs.  These were originally written for @culturevulture73 when I had a really bad case of OT feels, and it shows.  (hey @onwardintolight maybe you also might likey?)
Anyway, this is a series of short shots revolving around The Squad starting mid-ROTJ and going mostly post-ROTJ.  It’s disgustingly sweet and IDGAF.  If you’re interested, just keep on scrolling.
Or read it at AO3
If Leia hadn’t told him it’d been only a year, give or take, he never would’ve guessed it from seeing Luke.  It was like the kid had aged a decade since they’d left Hoth. He was thinner, quieter, and far more somber, with a smile that never quite reached his eyes.  The lines etched in his face had deepened and the bones framing his features stood out sharply, as if the time had whittled him down like a knife. Sheathed in black, he now carried himself with a poise that exuded a startling capability unlike the eager, scrappy resourcefulness he’d always had – there was a lethal edge to him now that the farmboy pilot, and even the squadron commander, couldn’t convey.
Bespin had irrevocably changed them all, scattering them to its winds.  Luke had to grow up someday, and he’d already been halfway there, but this felt as though he’d never really come back when he walked away in Echo Base’s hangar.  This man didn’t need his protection or his help. It should have been a relief, but this was not the way Han would’ve ever wanted Luke to mature.
The glove was an oddity, though.  Maybe it had some purpose regarding the handling of his lightsaber – hell, his new lightsaber, something else the kid had nailed – not dissimilar to the way Han sometimes wore his old steering gloves.  But he seemed to wield it two-handed most of the time, so it wasn’t adding up.
“Lost one?” Han quipped, trying to be casual about it.  Luke glanced up from where he was adjusting his belt over the camouflage poncho he’d donned, saw Han eyeing his right hand, and cast his gaze down to the deck as though a massive weight had just fallen onto his shoulders.  Instantly Han regretted opening his mouth, but part of him now felt compelled to know what was wrong.
Luke curled his hand into a loose fist as he regained his composure, a brittle smile stretching his lips.  “It wasn’t a glove I lost.”
Dread pooled in the pit of Han’s stomach.  Luke hesitated for a moment, then peeled the glove back to reveal a large, charred wound across the back of his hand that exposed the dull glint of metal and colored wires.
Han was aware of himself staring in horror less for it being damaged and more for its mere existence, that Luke had been hurt this badly, although seeing it blown open while Luke nonchalantly went about his preparations was just as disturbing.  Shame and guilt shuttered Luke’s features, and he said, “It’s not carbonite.”
Han slammed down the lid of the crate he’d been packing, horror rocketing into rage.  “Dammit, Luke, this ain’t a pissing match.”  He stepped over to him, instinctively reaching out but then holding back.  “Does it hurt?” he asked warily.
The shake of his head was relaxed and not furtive.  Sincere. “No. Only at first, but it’s all right now.  Moves just fine.” He flexed the hand, opening and closing the fingers and rotating the wrist to prove his point.  “That blaster must have been on low power.”
So that’s why he’d heard Luke yell at one point during the melee at the sail barge.  With his vision still blurry, he hadn’t even noticed up close, when they were all together aboard the skiff before the sandstorm hit.
“That’s no excuse not to get it patched up now before we head out.”
Luke gave an uncomfortable little shrug, smoothing the glove back into place.  “It doesn’t matter,” he murmured. “It works. We’re heading out now – ”
“It’ll matter if you’re wrong and it shorts out later,” Han snapped, grabbing Luke’s forearm as he began to turn away.  He cupped his other hand beneath the prosthetic, keeping his touch light and careful. “Vader did this?” His voice was low, simmering with anger and compassion.
The muscles in Luke’s jaw bunched and his eyes went distant, and that was enough of an answer.  Han wanted to tell him they’d never let that happen again, never let Vader round them up and tear them apart again, but he knew it was a promise he could never make, not as long as that walking scrap heap kept existing.  And if the grand high poobah himself was aboard the new Death Star, chances were good his rabid nek dog would be close by.
Maybe that was Luke’s reasoning – what good was it to get his prosthetic repaired now if they all died?
Hey kid, it’s my job to be the pessimist around here.  Well, seems he was wrong about Luke not needing protection any longer.  At least for his soul, if nothing else.
Han gently released Luke’s hand and gripped his shoulder.  “Listen. I’m gonna say it every day until it’s drilled clean through that hard head of yours. Don’t blame yourself for this.  We all signed up for this shavit together.  We’ve all gotten hurt. But we’re gonna stick together and keep fighting together. Not just ‘cause it’s the right thing to do or we got nothing left, but keepin’ on being a pain in their asses is the best payback we can give.”
There was a nervous twitch to it, but Luke coughed out a small laugh, hanging and shaking his head.  Han spread his hand across the back of it, grasping and giving it an affectionate tussle. “You got that?”
“Yeah, Han.  Yeah.”
