TOMORROW’S THE DAY!!💥💋🎶 Can’t wait to share our long awaited Little Mermaid / Disney Princess ode to the 1980s with you guys! 🎶 Song reveal 🎶 for next week’s 80’s music video! Do you know it?! Lmk in the comments if you do!👇🏼“Shadows of the Night” is a Pat Benatar song from 1982 (it’s been released by other artists too, but hers is the most iconic version IMO. It was SO fun to cover! ⠀ ⠀ #MerCrew member @andrewswells requested this one & suggested I sing it as my favorite mermaid! (Ergo this neon Ariel inspired cover art by @songstaforlife !) Andrew definitely inspired me, & as I began to try to visualize the music in a #LittleMermaid context, I had a crazy idea. Now just go with me for a second-the track has big harmony lines, so I imagined Vanessa & Ariel - two characters who (temporarily) share the same voice, singing this together as a duet. Ursula, disguised as Vanessa, lures Ariel into trading her voice for a trip to the surface. She does ofc, but instead of the Little Mermaid story playing out the way we know it, #Ariel arrives smack dab in the middle of the 1980s & gets rescued. Not by a prince, but by a group of Disney Princesses who make over her fashion sense & social life! It’s a bit wild, I admit, but if an 80’s tribute isn’t wild & left up to the viewer’s interpretation at least a little, then I don’t know that we doing our jobs right! Hopefully this video pays homage to the glamorous & strange fog-filled 80’s music vids of the past that we all love so much!👩🏻‍🎤💃🏻💋⠀ ⠀ I hope you guys enjoy our reimagined story, & this killer song! I even added a few little Ariel/Vanessa ad-libs in there as a surprise, so keep an ear out to see if you catch em! 🐠 (thanks to @amytreadwelltoy for helping inspire those new lyrics!) @kurthunter played for & created the track, & handled all the music production, & it’s soooo rad! He was the PERFECT music producer for this project! & @songstaforlife not only did the video, but also recorded my vocals & helped on vocal directing too! 💥12.17.19💥No one is ready.🎶 Here’s a sneak peek at the epic 80’s Disney inspired music video we have coming atcha next Tuesday! Which 80s Disney character has the most radical style transformation? 👩🏻‍🎤 Lmk in the comments! 👇🏼⠀ ⠀ Over a year in the making, and it’s finally almost time to time travel back to the 1980’s for a video that’s equal parts glam rock & reimagined 80s movie...with a Disney Princess twist! 💋 I really hope this one makes ya smile! My friends & I had so much fun making this! We started production back in January of this year, and lots of time before that collaborating with #MerCrew member @andrewswells to take his song request & the Little Mermaid / Disney elements he envisioned to create something totally radical & super unique! Would you guys be mad if I told you I actually had more fun playing Vanessa in next week’s music video than Ariel? 😈⠀ ⠀ What can I say? It’s good to be bad. 🐙 My favorite thing EVER with any costume related project is trying out a new character. Since I’ve never given Vanessa a go, it was really fun playing her for the first time! Albeit, not classic Vanessa, but an 80s-glammed out version is still pretty wicked IMO. 😜 Ariel will always be my favorite Disney girl, but it was cool getting to change it up a bit & play the heroine AND the villain this time! Spoiler alert: I uh...stole my own voice. 😹 I really wanna do more villain stuff in the future! 👻 Would you guys be down for that?
