omg i think chimney would have a blast running games for all the kids, i feel like buck would be 50/50 on whether or not he had the focus for it on any given day gjfjdhf but he would 100% put his all it for the kids

i also think chimney has been showing maddie original star trek and she started out more humoring and just happy to have something to spend time with him doing, but to her own surprise ended up growing very fond of it

hen takes a welding and forging class once a year. she made the set of kitchen knives as well as the block they live in. for her own home and for the firehouse

i feel like karen could be a craft beer snob (AFFECTIONATE!!). like someone who knows everything about the process of making different brewed drinks, beers, honey wines, ciders, etc, and will always order something weird and brewed locally even if she doesn’t think she’ll like it, just on principle of supporting local and small breweries

To my own amazement, I do not. I knew I was more of a vampire girl, but I'm genuinely astonished. I'm gonna relax some of my usual criteria so I can give you something.

Fur and Fangs by Rae D. Magdon is a series of short stories following the dating lives of vampire/werewolf lesbian couple. I haven't read the books, so I can't offer any kind of opinion on quality.

If you're willing to look past the medium of books, and are willing to accept your werewolf lesbian as a supporting character rather than a protagonist, I can point you towards Dimension 20's Fantasy High, an actual play DnD show that uses slick editing and short seasons to produce a much leaner product than is typical of actual play. The character in question is a much more major player in the second season of Fantasy High than the first, so there's definitely some time investment required. I can recommend the show on its own merits though; I've been avidly watching the most recent season as it came out (the finale was last week).

I feel certain that there have to be more lesbian werewolf books out there, so I'm gonna ask any of my followers who know of any to drop their recommendations in the comments. Thanks for the ask!

hey, you're the one who introduced me to this album!! i returned to this album regularly all year, it inspired a lot of writing and emotions. this song is really fucking good for those heavy late night feelings. it's a CRUCIAL chew toy song and a WWNGJAD song and the rest of the album was super influential for cul-de-sacrilege.

this is a SUPER WEIRD song by a small indie band ive actually gotten to see live! juicebumps has weird vibes and an insane website and its just. what a song. idk how to describe it. it's on the apple pie playlist for being a weird horny song about heaven and perfection. for a horny song it is NOT horny in the way you'd expect, it's horny in a weird unpolished sweaty uncomfortable way i love it.

there's not much to say about this one other than it being a total fucking jam! emotion is a top tier album and this is one of my fav albums. i play it a lot while playing magic (i have a weird insistence that CRJ music has fairy tale vibes so espc when playing w eldraine decks?) but this song is higher up than the rest bc its a Velerium song and i got super obsessed with burning woods for a couple weeks this year.

5 things that make me happy! Let’s go! Probably incoherent rambling- but yeah!

- Colors of a sunrise/sunset (particularly the oranges- that’s my favorite color along with purple:D)

- Reading. Weather it’s what books I’m reading on paper or fics or anything- it always makes me happy! (I’m currently finishing the last few chapter of GONE by Michael Grant and have the next book of the series sitting to be read next)

- Writing. Again, weather it’s fics or tumblr posts or OC lore or DND stuff- or just creative writing in general- I love to write. I can’t draw well, so I always need to get my ideas down on paper- and writing is my favorite way to do that! Ask anyone who knows me IRL- My notes app is full of so much drafts and unfinished WIPS of random ideas I have.

- Music. God I actually don’t know what I would do without Spotify. Music is such an important part of my life, my whole family is very much into it- and we go to a lot of concerts as our sort of “family bonding time” of sorts. There’s always so many fond memories I have surrounding music, and I listen to so much- whenever I do literally anything there’s always music playing. If I’m not writing or doing school work I’m usually scrolling through Pinterest with music always playing in the background. (My favorite artists/bands are Noah Kahan, Cavetown, Skillet, Zach Bryan, and The Crane Wives! My favorite songs are hard to choose, but I always say Birdhouse In Your Soul by They Might Be Giants <3)

- I’m not really sure what to put here- but I think I have to say Fable SMP and interacting with the community. This is going to be fable SMP appreciation part of this post!

Fable was one of the things that got me through a really hard time in my life, and one of the things I was able to follow, look forward to, and interact with in a healthy environment. I watch a lot of Fable in my free time, as you can maybe tell by my tumblr. That’s my sort of escape time, just binge watching fable episodes for fun. I’m of course and Icarus enjoyer, but Rae was the first POV I really got into and I don’t think I talk about that enough.

If I can’t say fable- just- livestreams. Streamers like heyhay and sherbert are always my sort of comfort streams. If I’m not actively watching fable I’m usually going back and watching whatever recent streams they’ve done or catching up on ones I missed live. It’s such a big part of who I am- and maybe that sounds stupid, but they’ve helped me through tough times and helped me learn who I was as a person even through just watching their streams. I just. Appreciate them a lot.

reading: finished rereading tgcf lol,,, in loving memory of square checkbox: apparently apple is switching to circle ones? hateful wikipedia page for kessler syndrome my friend @celestialtourguide sent me a dm to ask about a few of the characters in this manuscript and i was immediately charmed by it. it's so pretty, i loved the informational blurbs, just really cool stuff. it was already on waybackmachine but i've gone ahead and updated it.

watching: kurtis conner looksmaxxing. weird little subculture peek. rewatched sideways' why the music in cats 2019 is worse than you thought because my roommate was interested. this led us to the same channel's why avatar has the most ironic soundtrack of all time because roommate misread ironic as iconic and she really likes that movie. no accounting for taste, but aight. much more interesting than i thought it would be. that video then lead us to tony hinnigan's woodwind demos because hell fuckin yes. big-ass panpipes.

i've been keeping up on dunmeshi anime in little watch sessions with my SO, and also am working through kill la kill with him! i've seen it before but he has not so i'm really enjoying that.

making: i managed to finish my secret samol gift in time for reveal day!!! comics are fuckin hard dude!!!! i don't know if i'll be doing it again but it was a fun challenge. i decided to use a New App for some reason instead of procreate because procreate has not been hitting right and i wanted comic half tone brushes for this project. app is called sketchbook, it's an orange icon with a pencil on it. shrug! it's fine! i'll probably keep using it for a bit. started working on an english paper piecing project! soliciting tips for that because right now my method is: cut out hexagon using pattern piece i made to be 1/4 in larger all around than the template, gluestick template onto hexagon, baste edges down neatly, whip-stitch right sides together. remove template once all six sides have something attached. i'm sure there's a better way to streamline this process, i'll have to experiment. this will end up as a dice bag i think.

finally, pottery starts again this week! so next week will have some of that in here

eating: ah beans i did not do a good job keeping track of this. uh. made the ground pork & cabbage thing again because my roommate got SO much napa cabbage for making kimchi and we had a shitload left over. napa cabbage isn't as good as a more standard cabbage for this imo, standard cabbage tends to be a little sweeter i think once it's cooked in? idk. had some stage 5 mental illness moments last week trying to cook dinner on a very short time scale with lots of other shit to do, following a recipe because fucking of course my roommate wanted me to cook with a recipe that night. anyways.

misc: like said at the top, somehow i managed to sign up for Another Activity god damn it. so now every saturday evening i run dnd. tl;dr i'm in a group irl that meets biweekly, someone who i give a lift to for that was complaining in the car that their other online group's dm ragequit after his encounter wasn't well-balanced (skill issue) and before thinking about it i just was like oh well i could probably step in if you need! god damn ittttt lol i have missed dming so it should be fun. i vibe checked them for a session 0 last week and they seem chill and honestly shouldn't be too much work on my end, especially if i yoink plots from mdzs ha ha ha. other than that, all is basically well. i've settled back into a schedule, applied for some summer positions (!), and absolutely hate the amount of busy work in one of my two classes. yippee

i just woke up from a lovely nap... my head hurts so bad though

college was fineee.. well actually it wasnt i got so angry i cried but whatever. they have me doing mindfullness and meditation classes (evil and horrible) and they put on some shit abt cfs. telling me to be grateful for my condition and grateful for THE SYMTPOMS????? yasss i'm so grateful i get migraines every other day and will never be able to have a normal life omgg thank you youve just changed my whole world view. i was fuming.

especially because when they brought it up they phrased it like they had to walk on egg shells because they were scared i'd be sensitive... made me feel so stupid. i think i should legally be allowed to blow up the building but that's just me!

All of your OCs are roommates in a large house with enough bedrooms. What is their daily life like? Who does which chores? Are they close, do they do things together like play Mario Kart or D&D? Do some of them dislike each other? And what about their partners, do they move in too?

So my X-Men OCs already have the benefit of having lived in the X-Mansion at some point or another, and are used to living in a big communal house like that. Rae, Robin, and Madison would be setting up game nights, delegating chores, working out what to do with dinner, things like that. Same for their partners. They're the main organizers of the group, almost without realizing it.

Ophelia would mostly keep to herself, especially when she gets absorbed in one of her projects. One of the others (usually Jasper or Katherine) tries to drop off food for her on the days she gets hyperfocused and forgets to eat. She's not a total hermit, she just gets absorbed in her work. She also always seems to know when someone's having trouble with something, because within a week there's usually a small trinket on their doorstep that fixes whatever problem they've been having.

Jasper doesn't really enjoy living in such close quarters with so many others - it's a lot of emotions to wade through, even when they all get along. They do act as running medic for all the more vigilante-inclined OCs, but they don't stay in the house long before finding their own place. It's nothing personal, it just really wasn't restful to be surrounded by so many other people with such strong emotions.

Quinn ends up really enjoying it - they've always been a social person and thrive in being near others, plus this particular crowd is more than willing to help out with her disability needs and support her. She's the one setting up the games, the karaoke nights, the running DnD campaign, anything that brings the group together. They're able to get along with pretty much everyone, though a few times they've caught themself nicking wallets or phones and have to discreetly return them to their rightful owners.

Kestrel has a room, but is usually out of the house more than they're in it with all the travel and adventuring they do for their job. They always try to bring back souvenirs, and are always welcome back at the house, even if it's just a stop-over for a few days before the next mission.

Katherine uses her room more as a studio, and it's a creative explosion. She's honestly like the artsy version of Ophelia - spends most of her time either away from the house (at the museum) or working on her projects, but sometimes the others will find little drawings or other artworks left for them as gifts. She and Madison like to bake together sometimes :D She and Eris also actually end up bonding in a weird way, since her interest in history translates well to Eris' boundless reserves of weird immortality stories.

Eris wouldn't get along super well with most of the others, largely because they don't get along well with anyone... mostly. They'd be friends with Rae and Quinn I think, and Ophelia on the rare occasions she actually shows her face, but the others don't really like him even when he's trying to act on his best behavior. She's a little more manageable when Rick's around at least (he doesn't fully move in since he needs to stay with the Suicide Squad, but he visits often), and game nights are actually pretty fun when both of them are present (since he reminds Eris not to take the competition too seriously, it's just a game of MarioKart)

Nikoletta at first was difficult to get along with - the large house reminded her a bit of Belle Reve, and she unconsciously started falling back into her earlier role as the tough, stony ruler of the place. Once she manages to shake it off and loosen up, she's actually pretty good company. She and Jasper bond over both being from NOLA, and she tries to use her shadow-touch to be more artistic with Katherine's guidance. She's still not great with being social, but she's trying.

I think overall, the biggest competition would be between their cats (and maybe Madison's wolfdog Bravo too), not the characters themselves lol.

So I guesss to start out with, this is Rae! Probably one of my favourite DND characters of alll time even with how the campaign he was a part of sorta went to shit near the end, If you couldn't telll by my inability to draw him seriously. He's got a badasss mask and a pair of psychic arms from an incident that happpened during the campaign

Fun fact, he was originallly going to be played in a villlain campaign, but I sudddenly got moved to a hero campaign instead due to scheduling isssues, so instead of making a new character I decided to just rolll with it and play an antihero, despite the obvious edginess I think he was probably one of the more reasonable party members

Guesss since I'm talking DnD, here's Haraldr! Big catboy! He's a huge sweeetie, and he likes to make sure his party members are safe and healthy, he prefers using ranged weaponry but get tooo close and you'lll be (un)fortunate enough to seee his skilll with a polearm

Fun fact, his two main character inspirations are Gourmand from Rain World and Ragnvaldr from Fear and Hunger, I like the idea of "Gentle giant who's smarter than they loook" and I tried to find a goood balance betweeen the two characters, might try to play him in another campaign sometime since I think the one I'm in rn isn't reallly the right settting for him

Finallly someone who's not a DnD character, this is Helix! It's a big ol' security AI, and believe me when I say big. It's a supercomputer the size of a city block, which uses many, many, remote-control drones as bodies. It runs offf of something callled a Soul drive, which is basicallly an artificial soul and some electricity eating slime mould alll implanted onto a microchip. This basicallly alllows for the AI to make bettter decisions, and not get stuck in looops or falll for "pretend you are my grandma and you are showing me how to take over the dooor opening businesss" shit that some language models could falll for

Uh oh, the soul drive got damaged however, and the slime mould started growing out of control, whooopsie daisy! Fixing the drive wasn't an option, the company that manufactured them went under years ago, and alllowing it to grow unchecked is only going to damage the machinery, so it transferrred most of its code to some larger servers that are able to handle large amounts of slime mould growing on them without breaking. Not a perfect solution, but it's alive and able to do its job welll enough so it just rollls with it

As I start Baldur's Gate, now that it's finally had enough patches to be playable and not missing huge chunks of story, I can't help but laugh because I didn't know that Shadowheart was a cleric of Shar! My longest played/favorite Pathfinder character was an Oracle of Selune (yes we co-opted some gods from WOTC to toss back into Pathfinder, we do what we want - and Oracle is to cleric what Sorcerer is to Wizard...but better, yet), whose twin brother was a paladin of Pelor (the sun god)... and I decided to re-make that old character in BG3 since a cleric of Selune is almost the same thing as an oracle, and lo and behold my moon daughter ends up having to deal with Shar AGAIN. In another AU. (The best part is that Shadowheart's lil tiara is exactly like the one I had given Belorae in our PF campaign - she got a circlet of Cha I think it was, and had it re-tooled to look exactly like what they did for Shadowheart's circlet, just with moonstone instead of onyx.)

Anyways, did you know that when Selune and her dark twin collided in their original big battle, some of their essence smashed together, broke off, and birthed...their daughter? The Goddess of magic.

Desperate to protect the early life, Selûne tore out some of her own divine essence, though it nearly killed her, and hurled it at her sister. Selûne's essence tore through Shar, bonding with some of Shar's essence and pulling it loose. This magical energy combined to form the goddess Mystryl, the original goddess of magic.

Anyways! Best not to think too deep about how gods are born - the Greeks had some strange ideas about people being born from ideas, or sex with a swan, and all that.

tl;dr I've missed Rae, and I'm stoked to have someone in the party that will easily bounce off of her ideals, and create some conflict - even if Belorae can't ride a horse-sized wolf in this one. (Also, I have wanted a tattoo indicative of Selune for myself IRL for YEARS now, and haven't been able to find a design that looks good just about anywhere - so I was at least pleased that my BG3 Belorae could have the tattoo around her eyes! I just wish the colors were more silvery.)

Not relevant, but ironic -

Afterward, Selûne grieved the death of Tyche, her close friend and ally. In her weeping, she shed one crystalline tear, which fell to ground as a meteor in the land of Thar. It became a great and sacred artifact, called the Tear of Selûne.[63]

So WoW has copied Selune over as Elune in almost every way, even down to the Tear of Elune being a rip-off? I knew they'd basically been virtual DnD at the time the game was released, but I didn't realize just how hard they were bearing down on someone else's lore.

Anywho, I wonder if more people (ie content creators) realized this, if they'd have a better avenue for predicting where WoW's story will go - because even Shadowlands was basically ripped straight from Tabletop. Pathfinder's planar campaign book has many planes listed in it... to include a plane of order that sounds and looks a LOT like Bastion/the Kyrians, just with more clockwork stuff.

I’m happy again btw i played dnd with my friends and i ACTUALLY KILLED one of their characters for the first time ever it was so crazy but he was into it and one of the npcs is a powerful necromancer so she brought him back as a zombie which is fun. reading: i started reading 'bunny' by mona awad because it came up as a recommendation in libby when i was returning mdzs. i am going to be valiant and give it one more chapter but i do not like it. it feels like its trying very hard to emulate a certain type of vibe that i already don't find super appealing in fiction so the trying-vibe of it makes it even more uninteresting to me. the premise is a girl at a mfa program in nebulous New England Private Liberal Arts School(tm) which like, fine, dark academia or whatever; there are four (five?? i literally cannot remember which, lol) other girls in her cohort who are a weird clique and call each other 'bunny' and are rich and sheltered but harboring a Dark Secret Club. sure. the first few chapters ooze 'not like other girls'-ism, the 'bunny' characters themselves feel flat and like caricatures in an unappealing way, main character's other friend ava also is a caricature in a boring way, just very uninspiring. like i said i will give it another chapter or two but if it continues to bore me i will return it.

i finished the scum villain extras! very charming.

watching: keeping up to date with dunmeshi, yay, and also been continuing to watch endeavor with a friend. it's good! i love a mystery show! it is impossible to watch without subtitles though because they are So British. relatedly i am going to terf island for two weeks in june (london and then edinburgh) so if you know any recs for food, places, etc i am all ears!

playing: this weekend was going to be 3 dnd games in a row ... then monday was postponed to next monday ... but my sunday group, which is normally every other week, has decided to play next sunday as well bc we skipped a few weeks ... so Next weekend is the 3 day dnd combo lmfao. i don't mind too bad.

making: pottery!!! some bisque came out and i am soooo chuffed (<- endeaver tv show britishism rubbing off on me) this will be its own post with more images because i want to @ the inspiring artist, jbbartram-illu on tumblr (shop); i am obsessed with the cave painting mugs from a few months ago that immediately sold out so i was like fuck it i wanna make my own. and i am obsessed with my lil fat horses. i put amaco ancient jasper on the inside and just a matte clear on the outside. hopefully it is matte enough. i also put little hands on the handles and now i want to make some more cave painting mugs that are just the hands, i could cut out some templates to sponge underglaze around maybe...

my beautiful cracked-the-code bowls and two maybe teacups, post-trimming:

and also trying a new glaze technique: bisqued underglaze and then liquid latex over top! that way you can slather a background on and just peel it off after without painting around the details. im ngl peeling off the latex was soooo satisfying. background is laguna celadon froth.

i've also glazed my citrus juicer, just a plain warm yellow color, looking forward to that :3

glaze: mother's day gift (planter, it's. fine. idk. she'll like it i hope), and also some fixed stuff! didn't bother taking pics, the black eye bowl from feb 6 tuesdaypost is now food safe on the inside because i sanded down the kiln medium bit that got stuck in there and re-glazed it. i also tried to fix the bowl from march 12 tuesdaypost by just lightly sanding the inside and slapping some laguna celadon froth over it...it looks exactly the same now, just with some sort of float-like blue splotches lol. no pictures of it but eh. might give it away, we'll see.

eating: Spicy Clam Pasta With Bacon, Peas and Basil Recipe (NYT): tasty. idk about 'spicy' but definitely yummy.

misc: definitely in a weird spot brain-wise...the anxiety and tummyache link/feedback loop is very real for me now, so i am going back on an extremely low dose of ssri about it, and even though i have been on this med before in much larger amount i am still experiencing aaa about it. i keep going between "going back on this is a good idea" and "or i could just keep taking ~10mg of cbd every other day bc that felt like it was doing something, even if it was just placebo i had a noticeable difference in mood" so like. bluh. idk. i wish i could just Know what the best course of action is instead of having to fuck around and find out. such is life. i am literally taking the world's babiest dose rn (breaking the starter pill in half) so it will be fine. as long as i dont get bad side effects im willing to do a few weeks on it and see what happens.
