KIPPERLILLY COPPERKETTLE

Kipperlilly's rage, this is a part that is probably very challenging for Riz: where Kipperlilly talks about being jealous. It's one of the first meetings in her sophomore year, where she talks about how jealous she is that Kalvaxus killed Riz's dad. And she basically, over the course of sophomore year, is losing it, having rage outbursts. At one point, she is basically saying, it should be adjusted for academically if a person's family has suffered intense magical hardship, because that's an unfair advantage in adventuring. Kipperlilly's hatred gets even more out of whack this junior year. She wants to murder Kristen Applebees. She thinks that all of the Bad Kids are going to elect Kristen Applebees as a joke and then not even take the office after they win it. She hates Fabian because he's the most popular kid in school and he's helping this campaign. She hates how omnipresent Fig is in terms of denying her access to get to Kristen... The the language changes in the back half of her sophomore year from, "It's so unfair," "I think Arthur Aguefort likes them more," "I think the school takes it easy on them," "Half of them don't even go to classes," and then starting at the end of last sophomore year, it's flat out, "I hate them."

Let's Talk About: Fantasy High Junior Year and Ragenarok (Part 2)

Brennan quitting on the finale of Fantasy High Junior Year was not on my bingo card, but it's hilarious that it happened. Again. The episode turned into and adventuring party halfway through it's run, and honestly? Wouldn't change a thing. No notes.

Was it a satisfying finale? Mostly yes and a little bit no. Partly because Brennan set up another cliffhanger and we don't know when Senior Year will happen--or if it's even gonna happen with the same set of characters. Because it definitely felt like Brennan was giving both Emily and Zac an out, so they could portray different characters whenever Fantasy High returns.

Some of the things I'm a little sad about are more personal things. Like, I wish we saw Bucky again in Kristen's epilogue--especially after Kristen's choice to look at how she was raised when Ankarna was bringing up memories of injustice. And while, narratively, it made sense for Gorgug to bring up his history with Porter in that moment--but a part of me was also hoping we'd address the very hasty break-up he had with Zelda.

Of course I knew we weren't going to get a cookie-cutter ending. Obviously, actual plays with improv comedians will prioritize bits and making comedy than poignant endings. If we wanted the latter, we'll watch more scripted content. And, at the end of the day, I enjoyed the finale. I cried during the finale. A lot. And that's more than I get from most scripted content nowadays. So I don't really have anything to complain about.

I guess what's really making me sad is with the ending of Junior Year coinciding with the closure of the Dropout Discord--we won't have Brennan and the cast being able to add codas to their characters epilogues like we would in past seasons…

Going back to Fantasy High though… If and when they do come back for Senior Year, and they decide that it's the last one… I hope the finale episode isn't a battle episode. I hope we get a proper epilogue that is filmed a few days after the last battle--just so the cast gets to come down from the adrenaline, take stock of everything that happened, and fire on all cylinders for when they take their parting shots.

😊 Sorry Charlie Miller (Tanner Cohen, author; full voice cast) - Zachary Quinto is the main star of this original audio fiction in podcast format. It's a comical, catty, campy, mystery that was very entertaining. It gave me mild Hiaasen vibes and hearing ZQ play an absolute hot mess detective wannabe that's all of those above adjectives was pretty great. Much silly fun.

😍 Scents and Sensibility: The Working Assassin's Guide to Supersoldier Seduction (galwednesday, silentwalrus, skellerbvvt) - reread for Stucky Book Club and it apparently has been over 2 years since my last read, so it was about time!
