Which fanfic archives do you prefer?

Where do you publish your fics, what do you think about the other sites? I'm thinking about fanfiction.net opposed to AO3, as I'm not familiar with any others. I think I first made a ff.net account but never came around to publish anything, and then at some point everybody I followed on tumblr had an AO3 so I'm publishing my fics there. Are there any good places with fanfiction that I might not know/that you wish more people would know about?

I have planned a whole plot - but I'm not in the fandom anymore

(I'm sorry if this post is wrong here)

About half a year ago I read a lot of BTS fic. I know, rpf AND kpop? Well, the college AUs are pretty good.

My brain then started to plot out this Hogwarts+Soulmate AU - I have an entire plot, and (versions of) characters I want to explore. All in all you could say this fanfic, that I'd estimate to be a long fic, is really personal and a story that needs writing.

I postponed writing it due to writing a big bang fic in another fandom, and during that time I stopped listening to BTS music and didn't read any fics anymore. I even unfollowed the few blogs I followed. Me writing that fic isn't gonna happen.

But I have an entire plot. And I don't want to give up on that. Now maybe to me it doesn't matter that much what kind of names/looks I give those, what 2 main characters and supporting cast? But then I can't picture any other characters from any other fandom being in those roles, with those motivations of characters that reflect a part of me I can only express through writing.

Note: to me, rpf is fic about fictional characters based on real persons. since I never met and will never meet those persons, everything about rpf is purely fictional to me.

In summary: I have an entire plot for a fic - but I'm not in the fandom anymore. I don't think I can write it the way I originally planned. Have you ever been in a similar situation?

Should I write the fic anyway, or should I take the elements I need to write and write them somewhere else, like a different fic or an original work?

FFN or Fictionpress? Both?

I've been writing both fanfic as well as original works. Sometimes I give my original works to my friends to read, but mostly I don't publish it. While with fanfic, publishing as well as getting feedback is rather simple. Lately, whenever I came up with plots, I had to ask myself what fandom/ship it could become, and then I asked myself why I don't write about OCs with this idea, so usually I'm quite torn in the planning process.

Do you write only fanfic or also original work and how do you balance that?

Would you recommend Fictionpress? Since my aim would be to sometime publish, I never made an account there, even if I know that Throne of Glass was originally published on that site. I also know that fanfiction has been published in the past, namely 50 Shades and After (a Harry Styles fic), but these are like 2 out of millions.

So like, to the AU writers here, did you ever change the names in one of you fics, or did you take one of your original works and rewrote it to pass as fanfic? I'm conflicted.
