Rain Code Vampire Hunters AU — PROLOGUE

where Yuma meets the other vampire hunters

After a while, Yuma and Yakou reach a village that’s located near the forest. Previously surrounded by tall and massive trees, they’re now in the middle of tiny wooden houses that stand close together in rows. Yakou tells Yuma they would split up, because he needs to buy some supplies before returning home. The village is small and it would be difficult to get lost in it. The man with blue hair also adds that most likely the rest of the hunters can be found in the hotel, on the ground floor of which there is a bar.

On the way to the hotel, Yuma notices several things. The village is really small and one could easily walk around it without spending even half a day. Also, as Yakou explained, it’s always cloudy in this forest and village, and the sun never comes out from the clouds.

But there is one frightening oddity – there is not a single soul around. All the doors and windows are closed. If it weren't for the cars parked next to the houses and the well-kept gardens, you could easily think the village was abandoned.

The hotel was easy to find – it’s the highest building in the village, and also the only one with uncovered windows and a lit sign on the front. Entering, Yuma meets three people sitting at the bar and a barman, who polishes a glass until it shines. Some of the bar patrons are surprised to see Yuma, but it’s obvious that they’re the ones Yuma is looking for.

Yuma: I… I'm looking for hunters. I was told I can find them in that bar.

Halara: Correct. They're right in front of you. It's a bit foolish for a vampire hunter not to recognize others like them.

Yuma: You know who…

Halara: Your clothes. Also, the vampire hunter badge, which can be seen on your vest. And based on that, I’m sure you are one of the vampire hunters that are supposed to arrive here with the others.

Yuma: Yes... you're right. Wow…It's amazing you were able to understand everything with just one look.

Halara: With my logic, everything is possible.

Desuhiko: Yeah... Halara really does have an eagle eye. Although I also noticed the hunter's badge right away, I just didn't have time to say it.

Fubuki: Eagle eye? But Halara is a human... not a bird. They don’t have feathers….

Desuhiko: - Aah... no, princess. It's just a phrase.

*Halara explains the meaning of the phrase to Fubuki*

Shinigami: Ah, Master, they're all weirdos! Honestly, I expect them to be eaten soon, like those previous companions of yours.

Yuma: Don't say that! I don't want to remember or think about it again now!

*Yuma gets lost in his memories. Concern began to appear on his face*

Fubuki: Sorry, but are you okay? Your face looks like someone was killed.

*Yuma sighs anxiously, trying to calm down* Yeah... I need to tell you all about what happened…

*Yuma sits down at the bar table and tells his story briefly, of course, without details about Shinigami. Also, they quickly all introduce themselves to each other*

Desuhiko: So, you're the only survivor, and with amnesia. Brutal!

Halara: It's even surprising that you managed to survive.

Desuhiko: And you're lucky that Yakou found you and brought you here.

Halara: I wouldn't be so happy about it.

Desuhiko: Oh, come on! This man has been by our side and helped us many times, and you're still wary of him?

Halara: You can't trust anyone. Especially in our job. Yuma’s case is a great example of that.

Yuma: …

Fubuki: But Yakou really helped us a lot, and he's very kind...

Desuhiko: Besides, he doesn't look like a vampire spying on us. He doesn't show any signs of being a vampire. And if he were, he would have definitely revealed himself much earlier and used the moment to attack us. So, I think you're imagining things.

Halara: Hmph... *Halara folded their arms in displeasure*

Yuma: Anyway... as I see, the only you three and I sur…

Halara: Four.

Yuma: Huh? Then where is...?

Desuhiko: Ah, he's under the piano. *Desuhiko points his thumb back at the piano*. This guy is like a ghost, so it's no wonder you didn't notice him. Hey, Vivia! At least say hello to the newbie!

*Yuma notice a skinny man, lying under the piano and reading a book*

Vivia: Ah... hello. *continues reading the book*

*Desuhiko sighs in displeasure*

Yuma: So... the five of us are the only ones who survived. But since we're all at the designated location, what should we do now?

Halara: We need to report to the top brass that the last hunter has arrived. After that, we'll receive further instructions.

*Halara gets up from their chair and heads to one of the old phones located near the bar. “World Vampire Hunter Agency" is written on it*

Yuma: Is this some kind of special phone?

Desuhiko: Yeah, it has an encrypted line to contact the agency. There are several such phones in the cities, but in this village, it’s the only one. I'm surprised it even exists, considering how weird and sheltered the locals are.

Fubuki: They constantly avoid us and hide in their houses whenever we go outside. One day I wanted to talk to them, but they all ignored me and left.

Desuhiko: They clearly don't like outsiders here. ... Hey, I heard that there is some kind of vampire worship cult in this village.

Shinigami: Vampire worship cult? Are they so brainwashed that they want to be eaten?

Desuhiko: Frankly speaking, I even investigated the village a little to confirm this rumor, but... so far, it hasn't yielded any results.

*Halara returns to the others*

Halara: Enough chatting. Unfortunately, more than what we already know was not conveyed, but the command to "move on" has been given.

Desuhiko: Argh...great. At least we still have a map.

Vivia: At the most interesting part... *Vivia slowly crawls out from under the piano, pulls himself up until his back cracks, and then takes a slouched pose*

Fubuki: Come on, Vivia! A big and exciting adventure is waiting for us!

Vivia: Once again, a little peace and quiet has eluded me... *Vivia looks back at the piano, then lowers his head* Ah... I wanna die someday...

Shinigami: Kyahahaha! Master, this is going to be a really fun adventure!

Yuma: ...

After leaving the bar and taking their bags, the hunters head towards the exit from the village. On the way, they meet Yakou, who had just finished his purchases (which consisted of cigarettes). Yakou said that he’s going to walk with them for a while and then return home. He also reminds everyone that he would always be open to them staying the night at his place.

Yuma can’t say exactly what will happen next. Hell, the last few hours of his life were so insane that he’s not sure of anything right now. But for some reason, he feels calmer around his new colleagues. Yeah, they’re all … quite strange. But in his soul, he feels that everything will be fine with them, and they’ll all achieve their goal together.

Here are some of our lovely members in the Nocturnal Theatre in Kanai Ward! It may be less popular than Amatarasu Stage, but don't underestimate them. Their shows are pretty great!

Note: this is an au based off what I remember of the A3! mobile game and a little bit of Project Sekai's Wonderlands×Showtime. This au will be called "Rainystage". Just a little something I've been working on. Next post will feature the train detectives in the au, and then Shinigami + Kurumi, and then the Amatarasu Stage members. Feel free to ask questions!

Still haven't wrote his forte properly-- But his forte be able to make him dive (went through) into walls or any room (especially the locked room). However, to use his forte, he need to hold his breath while using it (might need to rework on his forte soon--)

Rain Code Vampire Hunters AU — CHAPTER 0

Tw: some blood, death

The story begins with a young man who woke up near a mysterious altar, inside a cave. He couldn't remember anything: how he ended up in this cave, his past, or even his name.

After looking around and checking his pockets, he found a letter. From that letter, the young man learned that his name is Yuma Kokohead, he's a vampire hunter and that he, along with many other hunters, was sent on a mission to find the mysterious Kanai City. The letter also mentioned that he should meet up with a group of other hunters to go to their destination together.

Therefore, Yuma had no choice but to leave the cave and try to find the other hunters, not even knowing where to go.

Luckily, he soon found them..... or rather they found him. All this time Yuma wasn't far from the station, where he, Melami, Pucci, Aphex, Zange, and Zilch were supposed to meet. And while the other hunters were waiting for the last person, they noticed «the little guy who got lost in the forest».

They were surprised to know that Yuma was the hunter-in-training they had been waiting for. However, they didn’t know anything else about him. Aphex even doubted Yuma's honesty about amnesia and that he's a hunter, but the letter and the vampire hunter's badge convinced the others of his validity. They had no choice but to set out for their destination.

They spent about a week on the road. During this time, Yuma got somewhat used to his colleagues. Not everyone treated him well, but for Yuma, these were the first people he thought he could rely on.

However, there was something that scared him. A mysterious voice that he heard more and more often every day. Yuma had begun to think he was going crazy, until he saw a purple ghost in front of him.

That day, Yuma had fallen behind his colleagues and got lost. He was shocked by what he saw. The ghost said she’s Shinigami – a Death God, with whom he had made a contract, and thanks to which he could now use her powers.

Yuma's head was spinning from all he heard. He couldn't immediately accept all the new information and the appearance of the Death God herself, but he was forced to put aside his worries and questions in order to return back to the others.

However, Yuma discovers something terrible. He finds Zange, mauled and covered in blood, about to die. Yuma runs to help him somehow, but Zange only manages to say, "He wasn’t who he said he was". Yuma began to panic, realizing that somewhere nearby is the vampire that killed Zange and is going to do the same to Yuma and the others.

Unfortunately for him, he then found the torn bodies of Pucci and Melami. While searching for both his companions and answers, Yuma thought more about Zange's words and realized that the older man had meant that there was a traitor among them.

Yuma eventually found the rest of their group, though not in the way he had hoped. Aphex was lying bloody and ripped on the ground, and in front of him stood Zilch, covered in blood and with black and red eyes, staring at Yuma with a feral expression. This image felt very familiar to Yuma, causing him to panic.

Zilch looked at him with a smirk on his face and inquired if Yuma remembers him. Yuma didn't understand what Zilch was talking about, but Zilch didn't care whether he remembered him or not. In his current state, getting rid of Yuma would be much easier.

Zilch began chasing Yuma. Yuma could only run until Shinigami began telling him that he should finally use her powers, as it was the only way he could be saved at this moment. Yuma desperately called upon Shinigami, the Death God transforming into a large scythe in his hands. Now the Death God has become a tangible material. She informed Yuma that this form of hers is the ultimate weapon against vampires, from which they cannot escape. And despite his poor skills with weapons, he entered into battle with Zilch. As a result, he barely, but defeated him, piercing him with the blade of the scythe.

Yuma didn't know what to do next once the battle was concluded. His colleagues were killed, one of them was a traitor, and he didn't even know where he was. He had wanted everything to stop at that moment and give him a chance to come to his senses.

However, he heard a rustling sound close to him, which meant that someone was nearby.

As he prepared to fight again, he ran into a tall figure, which frightened them both initially. In front of him, there was a middle-aged man with blue hair and glasses of the same color, standing near a tree, scared, holding his heart.

The stranger assured him that he didn't want to cause harm and was only worried, because he saw someone running in panic. The blue-haired man introduced himself as Yakou and said that he lives in this forest and helps lost people or vampire hunters who sometimes need a place to stay for the night or day. Although he admitted that he meets the latter of the two options very rarely, but over the past month he had spent a lot of time with four hunters who arrived in a nearby village. They didn't tell him their goals, but he himself admits that he can do little to help them.

Yakou then offered to take Yuma to the village to the others, to which Yuma hesitantly agreed, full of distrust but had no other options. On the way, Yuma recounted his experiences with his first group, after which Yakou expressed his sympathies and tried to help.

Happy that I finally got to do something big with vampire hunters au!

Initially, I was going to do something more large, including a comic about how Yuma met Yakou. But I realized that I don't have enough energy for it, especially recently because of work (it was a hard period), so I decided to do everything in this format

I didn't want to stray too far from ch 0 of the game, but I did add some new details and hints that I hope you'll find intriguing. Do you think Yuma really knew Zilch before he lost his memory?

I also want to thank @draconicsparkle ( I hope you don't mind that I'm tagging you here) for beta reading. You really helped me a lot!

Raincode × Cult of the Lamb au...

Some notes under the cut:

It isn't a 1:1 au, more of a mix of the two games. Makoto, Yomi, Guillaume+Dominic, Seth, and Swank are the bishops, with each having a right-hand disciple (their importance depends on the bishop; Yomi's disciple is Martina, other disciples don't really matter) (kiiiinda thinking that Seth's disciple is mr Charlie Radiohead by my bestie @wackpedion . . . Wiki do you want me to turn Charlie into a cute little guy)

Yomi is like Kallamar, he's an absolute coward and has Martina fight in his place for his boss battle- when you defeat her, he comes out with a ton of weapons and is unpredictable (but doesn't do a lot of damage). Maybe he uses Martina's death to grow more powerful, showing that he doesn't really care that she's gone.

Guillaume and Dominic are a duo pair of bishops, tag-teaming. Dominic gets to talk, not very often after losing the crown they share (I think I'll give him Heket's throat injury).

I haven't figured out much about Seth and Swank in particular, but I'm definitely going to workshop this.

Meanwhile! Makoto takes Narinder's place, being the Bishop of death- but Yomi knew Makoto would grow far more powerful than the rest of them, and locked him away. Makoto, noticeably, is a lamb- just as Yuma is. Theyre not the same person, but they're like... mirrors. Only reason they're not the same person is because I couldn't figure out how to get that to work here. Anyway, the bishops decide to kill all of the lambs for the same reason as Canon Cult of The Lamb, and Yuma is the last living lamb. Makoto chooses him to kill the bishops and bring him back to power, and gives him the Crown.

Now, you might be wondering, wheres Shinigami in this au? Here she is. The crown in cotl has a personality of its own and can sometimes communicate with the Lamb, but here, there's a full-on person in there. She can speak with Yuma and takes a liking to him, happy to be able to be out and about again and not restricted to Godhood with Makoto.

Yakou is Ratau, being a previous attempt of freedom of Makoto's, but you don't sacrifice him to the fox- he dies in the Yomi battle. See, Yomi figures out the best way to get out of dying to Yuma isn't to send illness and famine to Yuma's cult- it's to kill someone Yuma really cares about, it's to give Yuma a choice. Kneel, or allow for Yakou to be killed. Kneel, and Martina kills both Yuma and Yakou- with Yomi, of course, hitting Yakou when he's already down. If you refuse, Martina kills Yakou, but he fights back before dying and gets a good chunk of damage on Martina. While it sorta takes away Yakou's selfish actions from Raincode, I honestly can't figure out how to incorporate it into this au- I do intend on him being a bit selfish, though.

I'm still workshopping it, but the NDA detectives are Yuma's disciples.
