Total Drama Level Up Chapter Four Sneak Peak

Chapter four of Total Drama Level Up is coming along nicely, and should be ready to go live next week around Easter. So here's a brief sneak peak for anyone interested.

The rec room was mostly empty when Wayne and Raj arrived. The only ones there this early were MK and Julia, seated at one of the many tables scattered about. Julia was on her phone, sorting through the numerous selfies she’d taken so far during the season, while MK had broken out a deck of cards and was engaged in a game of solitaire.

“Morning ladies,” Wayne said as he and Raj walked in, getting the girls’ attention.

“Uh, hey Wayne,” MK said, she and Julia giving them nods of acknowledgement. “Hey Raj.”

Having decided on the walk over that they might as well play since they’d used it for an excuse, the Hockey Bros made their way over to the ping-pong table. Coincidentally it happened to be closest to where MK and Julia were sitting.

“Sooo, what have you girls been up to since season two?” Wayne asked as he picked up a paddle.

MK and Julia exchanged glances, their expressions caught between confused and annoyed.

“Not much,” MK said simply, glancing towards the ping-pong table. “Turns out we don’t live too far from each other. We hang out every now and then, sometimes appear on each other’s livestreams.”

By now Wayne and Raj had taken their positions, the latter tossing a tiny white ball up and catching it repeatedly. They nodded at each other, and Raj served, sending the ball across to Wayne who swiftly returned it. The air became filled with the light, rapid taps of the paddles hitting the ball and the ball hitting the table.

“Cool, cool,” Wayne said, nodding. “Hey when I watched the season two finale back, Julia mentioned something about you guys starting a podcast?”

“We decided to put that on hold for a moment,” Julia said, feeling a pang of annoyance at being reminded of the plans she had made using her prize money. “Why the sudden interest in our personal lives?”

“Just being friendly,” Wayne said cooly, lunging to hit the ball back before it could sail past him. “You guys are Rajjy’s teammates and Raj is my bro, so that makes us like… teammates-in-law.”

“Not even close to how that works,” MK said flatly.

“Also we’re just teammates for now,” Julia stressed, craning her neck to fix Raj with a flat look.

Raj smirked at her in response, returning a powerful hit from Wayne.

“What about you MK?” He asked. “You get yourself a cool car yet?”

Julia sputtered and coughed, dropping her phone to the table with a clatter. Wayne guffawed, and even MK couldn’t help but snicker.

“Not that again,” Julia groaned, glaring. “Look, everyone has been taking that confessional completely out of context!”

“And what was the context?” Raj pressed.

“All I was saying that MK’s brain came up with a good plan! I was complimenting her for it!”

“So good that you’d date her brain for coming up with it,” Wayne said casually.

“Exac- wait no dammit!”

“How exactly were you gonna accomplish that anyways?” MK asked playfully. “Were you gonna do some mad science and put my brain in a jar? ‘Cause that might make driving a little tricky.”

“Don’t encourage them!”

Growling Julia stood up and started walking away, a still-chuckling MK following shortly behind. When she reached the door Raj finally missed a swing and the ping-pong ball went bouncing along the floor.

As the ball bounced in front of her, Julia raised her foot and brought it down fast.

“Oops, my bad,” Julia said bluntly, and left with MK.

Wayne and Raj stared at the crushed white disk on the dirty linoleum.

“Think we can reinflate it?” Wayne asked.

.. it is determined beyond any despair that a no work day is a no .. 

.. so work oriented work came about in this post CoViD phase where the body still reacts and behaves peculiarly .. 

.. sitting around on its axis and expecting the work to happen is the exact opposite of sitting around and hoping the work to happen .. it shall not .. it has to be chased after and grabbed and devoured and consumed for the filling of an appetite .. stomach growls and all .. !!

.. so I did .. succeeded and left .. somewhat bewildering those that came along for work .. they arrive late .. I resume work and they come at their own time , but the work involved personnel were there and we resumed .. but the main was late .. 

.. there was the ‘barsi’ today for the departed Ritu ji my ‘samdhan’ Raj ji .. Raj Kapoor ji’s daughter and Shweta’s Mother in Law .. it was also Rajji’s birthday today ..

.. the ‘barsi’ was done or is done a month before .. the death anniversary is 14th January .. many believe in it providing peace to the departed soul .. many do not and are strongly resentful of it .. 

..’when the body is gone , remembering it through a special prayer for the wellbeing of its soul, is the debatable question .. each sentiment seeks respect and honour .. which is given .. not taking the ritual and it reverence away at all .. belief is given the respect and dignity it deserves ever ..

.. but when the reverence for the ‘passing’ coincides with the anniversary birth of the elder - the Father - on the same day .. which remembrance falls in the greater category ..

.. this is but one incidence .. there are many other that fall in the same family .. and the question ever remains ..

.. a celebration of a festival of immense importance and divinity falls on the day of the death anniversary of the dear .. 

.. what then ..?

the celebration or the mourning .. 

... many though acknowledge the celebratory being at the time of the loss of the near .. and consider it to be a will desire of them that have passed on .. many find it offensive .. and resent .. how could a sad departed moment be of any celebration .. 

.. I think it is not so much the thought of celebration at the time of death .. it is the effort to brighten the extreme sadness at the time of ‘departure’ .. more particular at the time of the elder departed .. 

.. but far to much deliberation on the ‘gone’ .. there is the ‘coming’ too .. 

blessed are they that ‘bring forth’ for they bring continuity .. bring the preservation of the wholeness .. in the most sophisticated machinery that nature built .. US !

.. the dependency on us is the moral dilemma among all .. and the genuine in time springs forth and spreads its large colourful wings towards the skies where it saunters above unreserved territory .. free and unabashedly his own .. 

.. that shall be the satisfactory of the post ‘passing’ .. when it is over and done there can never be any guarantee of it efficacy ..

.. the deserving shall deserve .. and many that think of its otherwise draft, shall be delighted at its pregnable present .. they shall wait in patience and in its deliberate wait , resolve its immediacy and compliance .. above board , but with an agenda that none can secure .. 

.. it shall trouble , taunt , disobey , be in misbehaviour and contempt .. but when faced with the strength of elderly conviction, it shall succumb or be forced to succumb .. that is the discourse of them that have commissioned themselves as the ultimate .. but early signals shall prove it otherwise ..

.. Otherwise .. 😟😟😟

“My parents left a message before they left the city, explaining you had to leave dinner early to run an errand. I assumed it was an excuse for some Butterfly business. Nothing too difficult, I trust?”

Adele blinked. “No,” she said slowly, “nothing too difficult. Your parents, um, did they say anything else in their message?”

Gabriel shrugged. “Just that they had a lovely evening, and I was lucky to have found you.” He bent down and kissed Adele’s cheek. “Which I am, of course.”

“Oh,” Adele said, her voice about half an octave higher than normal. “That’s good.”

Jonathan swiveled round and leaned over the back of the couch, and Adele noticed Rajji curled up asleep on his shoulder. He fixed Adele with a look. “Was it a pleasant evening?” he asked, suspicious.

“Of course it was,” Adele said, her voice going even higher. “Why wouldn’t it-”

“Adele got banned from the restaurant,” Nooroo said, floating up from Adele’s purse.

“Nooroo!”

“You what?” Gabriel asked, stunned.

“Again?” Jonathan said.

Dream job: I would love to get into something in the medical field. I’ve been fascinated with it since I was a kid. Walked into my parent’s bedroom to see that he was watching an open heart surgery. Sat down and watched with him. My dad is a retired doctor with a lot of books laying around, so I’ve read a few and I’m just damn blown away at how much can go right/wrong with the human body. I enjoy helping other people, so this is something I’d love to do... I’m a little old for an advanced degree though and I’m disabled. If I were to do anything though, I’d probably go for Sonography.

Dream trip: I love Denmark... I’d love to spend several days in Copenhagen. One day wasn’t enough.

Instruments: Clarinet (Haven’t played since middle school), Electric Bass Guitar (Need to get back into lessons, but stopped due to surgeries and such)

Languages: English (Mother was Greek. I wish she had taught me how to speak Greek...)

Favorite song: Err, yeah, this one is difficult. Too many good songs out there to just choose one.

Random fact:  Once upon a time, I had a really dusty computer. I was happily playing Ragnarok Online when suddenly my computer started revving up like a damn race car. It got louder, and louder and louder... and the power supply literally blew up. When I looked inside it fried the motherboard and I had to put out a small flame. Since then, I have made sure to always clean my computer. The end.
