🎶 Soo I had a birthday yesterday! 🎂💕✨

Made extra special this year by a new found community and fandom (you guys!) and some special people in my life! Please allow me to gush a little hehe~ 💞

Found out our grocery store can print images on cakes! So we got a custom one done with befittingly sweet artwork courtesy of @thatmooncake that I commissioned a bit ago that I love to absolute bits! 💞💞 Thanks bunches Fable! 💫

@rambunctioustoons (We're spouses btw! 💘) made me the most perfect, unexpected, most sweetest gift. I designed my OC Bunny a Security/Daycare badge a while ago.. and they attentively made it for me!! Even got all her little stickers and everything!! 💞💞 I was so touched and in awe. (They also got me the bunny squish) Thank you so very much Rammy! 💖✨

Our close friend @unearth1y came by and she prides herself on amazing gift-giving for a reason BECAUSE SHE GOT ME PLUSHIES! ☀️🌙💞💞 I made all the unholy noises and held them dearly for a very long time, believe me lol. She also made me the cupcakes! Strawberry ones that I've been wanting f o r e v e r 🍓❤️❤️

And last but certainly not least, Ram also commissioned my new dear friend @urbanqhoul to do some very sweet and sappy pictures just for me! Oh I grinned like the biggest dork you ever did see and kissed the screen fjfjfjf I'm still gushing over them, you ain't got no clue 💞💞💞💞

I cannot thank each and every one of these people enough for contributing to make my day feel more special than they'll ever know~ 💞 I'm again just.. so stupid happy to have come into the DCA community, that led me to all of these new experiences and so many lovely people! I can't wait for a whole new year of it! 💘💫

out of curiousity, what was your inspiration for calling it "hiraeth"? 👀 no pressure of course! lmao ✨

Lots of reasons! Some of them personal, some of them not.

I's kinda hard to explain this and not spoil the story (or at least heavily imply some spoilers) so I'll leave it under the cut :)

For the most part, I want to convey a certain tone in my story that's best described as a yearning for some semblance of connection to a thing you used to have, but have since lost (or a thing you never had, but inexplicably mourn the loss of).

In this instance, I'm referencing a character's humanity.

I frequently struggle with feeling very out of place. I find existing difficult and I have on more than one occasion second guessed my ability to be human, so I portray this, and subsequently process it through fictional characters (Y/N and the DCA).

I'm also a huge culture nerd and I've got a raging habit of deep diving whenever I find a new word LOL

Fun fact, the original title was "Hiraeth, Love, and how many times you can stumble in between" before I shortened it cause I was tired of writing that out every time ao3 ditched my drafts (not their fault, I forgot to port the drafts over asjfgkfdsh)

📓 !! I love half baked ideas! :D

yn's got a nice assortment of fears; big, deep bodies of water. bigger than big creatures. manmade objects being submerged in water. they can't even swim.

somehow, they find themself either at an aquarium/rescue or on a beach at the sea/ocean itself. i think some sort of aquarium/rescue/marine biology (?) place works best for this. somehow they find themself below sea level, this scene i specifically imagine on some sort of underwater area surrounded in glass or some junk, water on the outside. they see this absolutely MASSIVE underwater robot. they're already not happy to be here, and specifically on this underwater area. this just made their day like 10x worse. fear!!! absolute fear!!!!! displeasure!!! though i also think this meeting would work nicely above water; part of the fear is seeing part of the machinery submerged in water, and not being able to see the entirety of it.

somehow they keep meeting this giant fucking robot; learn it's name is sun, and it has another side named moon. these robots love them for whatever reason; but theyre still so very scared.

i was thinking sun/moon were some sort of underwater exploration bot created by fazco. completely automated as to not risk any human lives in deep-sea exploration. the biggest loss would just be an extremely expensive piece of machinery, if anything.

the general idea for this au was based off submechanophobia. i had a ton of ideas for it when i first thought of it, but i had a massive headache at work that day so . yeag . ough. i forgot most of it. but the mental images are still quite clear in my mind!

~Some highlights from @rambunctioustoons 's and I's widdle celebration tonight. 🌙💫 Today (3/11) marks a bit of an anniversary for us. A year ago today was a bit of a pivotal day in terms of us deciding to join this wonderful DCA community. 💕✨ We truly love it here, and I've personally made connections with a bunch of lovely folks because of it that's I'm so very thankful for. It's spawned so much creativity and serotonin. 💕 I really can't believe it's already been a year.

Against my better judgment, I've included a line from a highly unedited and unfinished fic I started for fun months ago. I'm not a writer, but this technically fulfills this part of the challenge.

Last art:

My latest wip, an Easter themed drawing I've lost momentum on after missing the holiday deadline. I'm currently debating whether I should finish and post it as is or remove the Easter elements and try to rework it as a more general spring piece.

Now I wasn't sure if I should tag anyone since the fear of social interaction is very real, but for the sake of community bonding I'll do it!
