happy valentine’s day! we have a truly amazing collection in ranger romance 2019 and i’m so thrilled to have read so many wonderfully sweet & romantic fics today! here’s a few of my faves, by no means an exhaustive list (it’s a big collection! go check it out!) but just a few that touched me, in chronological order from when they were posted:

Morning Habits of Jungle Cats by Fangirlshrewt97 // jungle fury, theo/lily/casey, rated T // had to shoutout to the fact that not only did jungle fury get a lot of requests this year but we also got two (2) ot3 fics i’m so proud of them and this is one is absolutely adorable gooey fluff to soothe your soul

a map of the places we’ll never be by authenticaussie // pr 2017, jason/zack/billy, rated T // this is a soulmate au to end all soulmate aus because it features constellations! mythology! and guys being gay idiots who are in love with their best friends, which is truly the best genre of romance ever

everything that goes up by mcmeekin // megaforce, super mega ot6, rated G // another soulmate au because i’m a slut for soulmates but this one is unique bc it features orion angsting about not Being a soulmate and also pining and being oblivious and everyone being in love and also it saved my life and watered my crops and stopped global warming :)

keiichiro/noel | finale spoilers | 5.2k words | rated T read on: ao3

“You can’t seriously think I would leave you three alone.”

Keiichiro rolls his eyes, but the relief that floods him is halfway to overwhelming. Noel nudges his shoulder and nearly makes him sway over to the other side of the curb.

“Besides,” Noel continues, grinning, “I still don’t have the whole collection. I am a phantom thief, you know.”

“About that…” Keiichiro tilts his head, watching as Noel lifts one hand to brush dust off his uniform. “You never did tell us how you ended up becoming a thief, anyway.”

Noel raises an eyebrow at him. “It’s a long story.”

Keiichiro looks around at the empty streets, the unlit café behind them, the shadow of the moon behind clouds, then back at Noel’s smile, feeling something unhook in his chest that had been coiled up too tight. “We have a lot of time.”

“Tsukasa, can you please hold still?”

Tsukasa grimaces. “Sorry, but it’s just—is this necessary? Surely you could find another model…”

Umika looks up from where she’s pinning a swath of pink chiffon around Tsukasa’s waist. Her hair is getting in her eyes, loose and unpinned, and her mouth is set into a stubborn pout. “You volunteered!”

Tsukasa has to take a moment to resist the urge to brush Umika’s hair out of her face. “That was when I thought this would be, like, a weekend thing. What about Aya, she could—”

“Nope.” Umika pops the ‘P’ on the word and continues adding pins to the chiffon. “I used Aya for my last design project, and my professor always says we have to try something new. Plus, Touma would kill me if I tried to do ‘married bliss’ as a theme again.”

Tsukasa sighs. “What about… Kairi?” she asks, but even the suggestion of it seems ridiculous.

“Yeah, ‘cause Kairi’s even better than you at standing still.” Umika rolls her eyes. “Although I’d love to see if he could pull off the pink.”

Tsukasa glances down at the half-dress—mostly just a lot of layers of skirt—covering her police uniform. “I think he’d look pretty good in it.”

The four of them exchange looks.

“Yes, you are,” says Hikari simply. Right gapes at him. “What, who did you think we’d kissed?”

“We’re fourteen,” Mio points out. “Who has the time?”

“That’s not fair.” Right’s lips twist into a pout. “I didn’t wanna be the first one. Tokatti!”

“Is that big a deal?” Hikari asks wearily as Tokatti jumps up to avoid Right lunging for him. “It’s just a kiss.”

Mio says, “Kisses are gross, anyway.”

“Stop trying to kiss me!” Tokatti splutters, ducking behind Mio.

ranger romance update

the deadline for posting fics was last night, thank you so much to everyone who got theirs in! the collection looks really good already :)

several people asked for extensions, if you got one please have your fics in by february 8th 2019.

if you’re a pinch hitter, try to have yours done by february 10th 2019 but if you need a little longer, just let me know in advance!

we had some deadline no-shows who have been defaulted; pinch hitters have been contacted but in case we still need some help and you would like to pinch hit, send me an ask or an email (contact info can be found on the ranger romance profile) and i’ll let you know if something happens and we need someone else to help out! be aware that pinch hitting often means writing something incredibly fast so only offer if you’re sure you can do it. currently, all looks good on the pinch hit front though :)

i super appreciate everyone who reached out offering to pinch hit! exchanges would never run smoothly without your help <3

other than that, thank you again to everyone who turned in their assignments; now’s the time if you want to look through the prompts and see about writing treats! there’s a lot of great prompts in there and a lot of wonderful fics, i hope you’re all as excited for valentine’s day as i am!

“That’s him,” Summer says in satisfaction. “That’s our guy.”

Scott leans over her to peer through the bars. “That’s our guy?”

He doesn’t look very impressive, sitting on the floor in his prison-regulation orange suit, hair unkempt and gaze unfocused. He’s about their age, early twenties, with a mop of dark hair that dearly needs a cut and an angular jawline, but that’s about the only thing noteworthy about him. He certainly doesn’t look like he’d be great in a race.

“You know we need someone who’s awesome, right?” Scott hisses at Summer. “Not just someone who’s kinda good behind a wheel.”

“You haven’t seen him,” says Summer simply, and wrenches the bars of the vent loose easily. She somersaults down and lands gracefully on her feet, leaving Scott rolling his eyes up in the vent.

“Show-off,” he mutters.

“Hi, Dillon,” Summer say, as cheerfully as if they were meeting at the farmer’s market and not breaking him out of prison. “Remember me?”

Dillon’s gaze slides over her, disdainful and bored. “You’re that chick I saved before the cops got to me.”

“Summer,” she says, still bright. “And this is Scott. We’re here to break you out.”

Girl Almighty

The museum is, of course, spotless by the time she gets there.

“Do you want us to lock down the building, Detective?” asks one of the security guards. He’s big and burly and has one hand on the pistol strapped to his side, already gunning to take down the thief before they’ve even got a lock on them.

Tsukasa shakes her head. “There’s no point.”

She lifts a hand and traces the clear frame around the painting—ink on silk, colors sweeping into an elegant portrait of a ship at sea, restored from the Muromachi period, and valued for a lot more than her job was worth—and pulls out the paper left behind. It’s a ripped piece of newspaper, with cut-out letters forming a note, and it’s the only truly priceless thing in the museum right now, as far as she’s concerned.

Too slow.

And on the other side:

Next time, Detective.

She can practically see the winky face at the end of it.

Noel brings fresh-brewed French coffee to their apartment. And warm buttered croissants. And hot chocolate with whipped cream foaming at the top. And vanilla cake and macarons.

“You don’t need to do this,” Aya tells him as he presses a cup of coffee into her hands. It’s so warm against her skin. She can’t figure out how to put it down.

“Why do you say that?”

The door opens, and Touma walks through. Noel’s gaze slides over to him, then away.

“I’ll be okay,” says Aya. She brings the coffee to her lips. It tastes like cinnamon today.

Noel smiles at her. “I know you will.” He reaches out to touch her knee in gentle comfort, and through the fabric of her jeans, it is like his palm has sent heat straight through her bones. When Touma comes to sit beside her, she’s not even shivering that much.

I was wondering about how the pinch hitters work because it's past the deadline extension and I still have no gifts. And it makes me a little sad.

pinch hitters by necessity have until the 14th to get their stuff in! just because they had a short notice for their assignments y’know. but i promise that everyone who currently does not have a gift has a pinch hitter working hard, i asked and organized them myself and i trust them to get it done!

and if worse comes to worse i will personally write whoever doesnt have a fic by the 13th, but rest assured, the collection will open on the 14th with everyone having a gift!
