These are the only purchases I made all year. Two visits from Lake Ronkonkoma's Deep End Of The Sandbox and one from Bay Shore's Blast From The Past. Both are not really record stores, but instead mom-and-pop memorabilia and vintage gaming boutiques. Deep End Of The Sandbox was my first stop and I only came in to buy playing card decks. Big mistake, because I spent more money that I didn't plan on spending. They sold these 7" Eighties singles for $2.00-$4.00 each, and the above cassettes ranged anywhere from $3.00-$8.00; all face value. They did have a reasonable selection of standard LPs, including some Nineties hardcore 45's and (oddly enough) there was a Merzbow 7" for $20.00. How did that get there?

Blast From The Past was where I scored big. Everything was 'buy two, get one free'. Gaming systems, video games, music, you name it - everything. I came in to buy back some consoles I used to have. But, I look to my right...CD's! Oh, foolish me. Trapped again! But, they had plenty of golden-era hip-hop / rap and motion-picture soundtracks I didn't have, so I took advantage. To my amazement, they had more Chemical Brothers CDs, some industrial (Funker Vogt, And One, and two Download releases!), and an import copy of Alec Empire's The Destroyer. Looking for The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, The Strokes, and MGMT? They got 'em. They had a few shelves of older vinyl, but nothing appealed to me.

Everyone who followed me last year knows that I post all of my (sometimes big) purchases. Those who came late? Here's one example. I am contemplating a special all-New York City record store victory tour for next year, providing I solve my space issue. No guarantees. But, if it does happen, do expect some Lina Romay-quality music-store porn.
