mini bachelor challenge - travel with terry~

hi friends! :) so, i wanted to play the globetrotter challenge with my sim terry, but i didn’t want to do it alone. after many failed attempts at making him a partner, though, i thought why not do a little bachelor challenge first?

I think the dynamics within this are hilarious, and bonus points if the Reader had traveled with the mc beforehand like Cheval did 😋

Quite Young Parents

Seeing how young Leo could use some guidance, you and Cheval decide to team up and provide it to him.

It was a humorous scene for young Leo. 

He had saved the world, just a thing to note, and was now traveling around. He decided to bring Cheval with him just because Ratha got along with Rathi so well and considering all the rathalos has been through, Leo wanted him to have some comfort.

But he didn’t expect to run into you again.

“Y/N! Fancy seeing you again!” The young boy shouted before moving to give you a hug. Currently, he and Cheval had stopped in Lulucion for supplies. Apparently, you did as well.

“Leo, you seem to be doing well...but I didn’t know that you had Cheval with you.” You said with a bit of a laugh upon seeing the redhead’s expression. He gave you a shy wave.

Leo knew all about what went down between you guys. After traveling with Cheval in Terga, having heard about the legendary rider through him, he actually ran into you back on Hakolo Island. Having saved the world once, you figured that you and your Ratha could do it again. So that’s where you met Leo and decided to travel with him, even if it was for a short while. 

“You personally know Y/N?” Cheval then asked his companion who has removed himself from you, nodding.

“Yeah, I met Y/N just after we parted ways. They had a lot of good things to say about you.” Leo said with a smirk, which caused Cheval’s face to light up with color. Yours did as well, but it certainly wasn’t as bad. The boy than had his face light up with a smile, turning towards you.

“Hey Y/N, want to come with us?” 

That’s what led to the three of you traveling together with the raths. The older Ratha seemed peeved that the younger one spent so much time around Rathi, leading to a primal feud over who gets the female. Rathi seemed to enjoy the attention, even if their squabbling annoyed her sometimes. The humans of the bunch seemed to be getting along just fine.

Sometimes too fine.

Leo noticed that one thing that both you and Cheval decided to keep from him was the fact that the two of you were dating. He may be naive at times, but he was not stupid. You guys held hands when you walked, and you guys sat so close together. Heck, you guys even shared a tent because you “forgot” yours. It led to teasing by him, much to your guys’ embarrassment.

But the beginning of this whole story started at a village.

Something had overwhelmed Leo during a hunt. It was very easy to forget that he was in fact a child. So, the three of you returned to the village with the poor boy in tears. You and Cheval had a quiet squabble over even what happened before your attention was brought to comforting Leo, both of you trying you best to soothe him.

“Look at you guys. Arguing before comforting a crying child. You’ll make great parents someday.” An older lady commented, causing you and Cheval to go red in the face while Leo giggled a bit, feeling better. 

“Is he your son?” Was another question that was asked, resulting in more laughter and flustered expressions. But it also led to a realization between you and Cheval.

Leo needed some parental figures.

“He really has no one, Cheval...but aren’t we a little young to take such important positions?” You asked one night by the fire. Leo was curled up beside his Ratha while scarred Ratha and Rathi were sleeping beside each other farther away. Cheval was right beside you, enough that you could rest your body against his.

“Maybe...but I think we’ll make a good team. Think of it as practice.” He told you and you gave him a look.

“Practice?” You questioned him and he blushed faintly.

“For when we have our own kid.” He told you and now it was your turn to blush. However, a smile soon graced your face as you wrapped your arms around his arm and rested your head on his shoulder.

“Who says that time can’t be now?” You told him and he nodded.

But still, your own kid was a nice thought indeed.

So, this led to you guess basically adopting Leo as a son. The boy told you guys that he thought you guys would make good parents, he just never thought that the child would be him. This led to more flustered conversations, but it got even worse in towns and villages.

Leo would always introduce you guys as his parents, and by doing so on purpose would lead to you or Cheval having to quickly explain that it wasn’t biological. But at least now the kid had someone to look up when it came to guidance. 

It was humorous most of the time, but at the end of the day it was full of care. And until you have a kid of your own, you have Leo.

But even after, he will always be a part of your family.

6. Any scars or facial tattoos? How did they get them?

Fenric: yes & yes-ish. Fenric has been an "adventurer" on and off for a couple of decades so they have the scars to show for it. And "adventurer" is quite a... loose term for what they've had to do to survive the pact they've made with the Night Serpent. As for tattoos, the large marking they have on their face is a result of when the Night Serpent tried to devour them. Zalith: yes & no. Zalith has some freshly healed scars along their forehead after getting into a scuffle with some mercs in Baldur's Gate. The fight ended with Zalith unconsious on the ground, a gash on their forehead, and a broken horn.

Fenric (warlock): Astarion, Lae'zel, Shadowheart Zalith (paladin): Gale, Wyll, Astarion.

14. What was your Tav's life like before they got kidnapped by the mindflayers?

Fenric: Fen was a wandering body who had found themself in Baldur's Gate before the attack. They were growing tired of the pact they had trapped themself in with Dendar, but something had drawn them both to the city. It was a center growing with fear and feeding Dendar the nightmares she craved. Fen couldn't escape the city because of it, but at least they didn't have to inflict horrors on anyone while they were essentially trapped. Zalith: Zal was the main personal guard to the Embereye heir (Symon). Zalith had risen to knighthood but they were hand-picked by the Viscount to keep the heir safe in inter-city travels. They had accompanied Symon to Baldur's Gate as liaison of Triboar in place of the Viscount before Zal was kidnapped by the mindflayers. And well... the kidnapping wasn't the only thing that went wrong in Baldur's Gate.

22. Who was your Tav's family? Did they have any?

Fenric: Fen had a very small family--them & their parents. Their father--Vicenas Firdew--was a high half-elf from Amn, and their mother--Lledrith Baenre--is a seraldine drow that escaped Menzoberranzan. The little family of three settled in Athkatla, even though their mother was gifted with arcane talents. Lledrith disappeared from their life when Fenric was early-20s (they spent the next few decades trying to find her), and Vicenas died from old age not too long before Fen arrived in Baldur's Gate. Zalith: Zal was orphaned around their teenage years. Their father--Kythus Rathis--was a blacksmith that was routinely commissioned by one of the Viscount Embereye of Triboar. Their mother--Briza-- was a healer & apothecary in the town, but eventually got caught up in some trouble and left in the end. Kythus died almost a year later from an illness. With no family left, Zal was taken in by the Embereyes who were kind-hearted people... but Zal felt like they had a duty to repay their kindness and joined their guard when they came of age.

Eventually

I left the office a little late than usual. And missed my usual train back home.

Feeling the cool breeze of the night, I waited for my auto. It might rain today, I thought.

I wasn’t hurrying home because there was no one waiting for me there. It was a Friday night and I had no plans for the weekend. And if it rained tonight, I wouldn’t mind getting drenched.

“Where to Madam?”, the auto driver asked as I took a seat.

“Metro Station”, I said.

As the meter chimed, with auto jerking back we began our 8-minute journey to station. I remember covering the same distance by walk. But now I’m 44 pushing 45 and it takes longer for me to reach the station by walk.

I have worked in the same government building for 22 years, and this has been my usual commute. And I have seen this town grow with me. What used to be Hansal Garments is Dominnos pizza now. And Old Bombay Library is now Starbucks. Same place, same street, different age.

I see a young couple pass by us at the traffic light. The girl reminds me of my younger sister Rathi. They seem merry and careless about the world. Which is how youth should be. Hand in hand, walking together at this late hour on Mumbai streets. The streets echoing with their laughter. To be young and in love..

On the green signal we move ahead, another left and I’ll reach the station.

As I look back upon the years I see myself caught in the machinery of life in a way that I didn’t stop to look and realize that life is actually passing me by. And I am missing out on so much. The only friends I had were my colleagues at the office, the commute from home and way back was the only travelling I did. All my weekends were spent indoors either reading a book or cooking or if I felt adventurous going to the market for groceries.  Time just flies, and if we don’t stop and take a moment to pause, you might never realize how much you are missing out on.

The auto stops right outside the station and I hand the driver a 10 rupee note as I get down.

The platform is crowded as usual. Its almost 9.30. I slowly glide towards the spot for lady’s compartment. There are a bunch of girls giggling at their phones. A young woman just about Rathi’s age is talking to someone on the videocall. She looks very happy.

I take my phone out and unlock the screen. No New Notifications.

And I look at the Gunhill wallpaper, from 2008. When Me, Rathi and Ma went to Massourri in her Diwali vacation.

I do not know at what point I decided not to marry. Maybe it was for Rathi’s education or my own fears – but I don’t ever remember consciously making that decision. I don’t have any regrets but lately I find myself think a lot about companionship and matrimony.

Maybe its because of Rathi.

“I have decided to Marry him Soni”, she announced on our last call.

“But you have only just met him”, I said, “How long has it been? Six months?”

“I just have a good feeling about this,” She said. And that was all that was needed to convince me. And when I actually met Loy, he seemed like a genuine person who was in love with my little sister. I am happy for both of them.

Sooo basically there was a report about a Hellblade Glavenus in Lamure, so Lilia and the scriveners (accompanied by Revertbro) head out to go find it, instead of a rampaging deviant however, Lilia finds herself with a female rider about her age huddled up next to, low and behold, a Hellblade Glavenus, but as soon as she sees Lilia and the group she starts having a full-blown panic attack, clinging to her monstie in fear which makes the Hellblade VERY defensive, which now nobody can approach her without the Hellblade getting involved, and if Lilia tried to force her, she’d be getting a very long lecture from Cheval and the Hakolo rider combined. So after a while of trying to tell the girl it’s okay, she finally follows along however the Hellblade is absolutely glued to her side and still very protective. Once interviewed, the Hellblade rider explains she had a very traumatic experience with a group similar to the scriveners, which is why she acted out

A Hellish Friend More Like

Lilia gets reports of a dangerous deviant monster in Lamure. However, instead of finding said monster, all she finds is a very scared rider huddled close to her monstie.

When Lilia got word of a dangerous Hellblade Glavenus running rampant through Lamure, she was extremely worried. People traveled through that land with families and goods, usually unarmed, which would be a death sentence if this deviant found them.

"Where's Reverto? I told him he needed to be here." Lilia asked her band of Scriveners that were accompanying her on the journey. Most of them shrugged, but on spoke up.

"He said he was going to meet you out there. Had to prepare or something."

Lilia wanted to call bullcrap on that, but she just kept her mouth shut and continued her own work before they left. But he better show up, or otherwise he was going to regret it. Lilia didn't have time to find another hunter. But just in case, she sent a letter out to Cheval to come and aid her. She knew he was reliable in that aspect.

And with that, they all got ready to go.

When they arrived out in the dry plains of Lamure, Lilia was surprised to see Cheval and Reverto with each other. Rathi was snoozing at the moment before raising her head once she noticed Lilia.

"I'm surprised you actually showed up." Lilia said to Reverto, who looked appalled.

"Hey! I may have a bad rap sometimes, but I'm not gonna leave you out here with a dangerous monster on the loose." Reverto moved to defend himself, making her roll her eyes. Then she turned to Cheval.

"Thank you for coming on such short notice." She said to her friend and he nodded.

"Always happy to help." He said with a smile. Reverto then moved and put arms around both their shoulders.

"Let's get a move on!" He said almost too excitedly.

When they all started moving across the area, Lilia felt it was too quiet. Cheval and Rathi were in the lead with Reverto, she was behind them, and the rest of her Scriveners took the rear. A rampaging deviant should be a lot more noticeable; burn marks, tracks, dead monsters, anything to give the presence of something large and dangerous.

But there was nothing.

However, Rathi then got the scent of something, and took off into the underbrush. Lilia and the others were quick to follow the Rathian as her attention was drawn elsewhere. After a few moments, the commander reached the area first, and nearly ran into Rathi as the monstie stopped in her tracks, looking on edge.

Lilia followed the Rathian's gaze and saw a young woman that was around her age. But that wasn't the most shocking part.

Beside her was a Hellblade Glavenus monstie. This girl was a rider.

It took only a second before both monsties noticed each other. The Glavenus deviant hissed a little, getting to its feet. This got your attention as well and you locked eyes with Lilia. The two of you stared at each other as the monsties held their ground.

"Hello. I'm Lilia." The brown-haired woman stated professionally: "I heard that there was an aggressive Hellblade Glavenus causing problems."

"..." The girl didn't say much of a word, but things didn't look too serious after all. For a second, Lilia figured that this job was going to be easy.

"Listen, I'm going to need you to-"

But when Reverto, Cheval, and the rest of the group showed up, you went into a full-blown panic.

"Get away! Get away from me!" You shouted in absolute fear as the group encroached on you. Your Hellblade roared furiously, causing even Rathi to back down as you clung to your monstie's side. Your monstie continued to snarl and hiss, and you were huddled up next to her, shoulders shaking as you held back tears.

"We need to get that girl to come with us." Lilia said to Reverto, who looked unsure about the whole thing.

"I don't know Lils...I think if we left, the situation would handle itself." Reverto put his two cents in, noticing your behavior as well as your monstie's. However, the commander wouldn't listen to reason.

"Please, just go get the girl. We need to have control here." Lilia ordered, ignoring the defensive stare your Hellblade monstie was giving. The group of Scriveners tried to approach you by force while also trying to cause as little harm as possible.

However, this just caused the Glavenus deviant to actually attack.

She scorched up her tail and fired a shot at the Scriveners. This caused Rathi to rush forward and retaliate. An all-out fight broke between the monsties, and Reverto grabbed his sword just in case things got any worse than this. Cheval ran forward and tried to hold Rathi back as she roared at your monstie.

"Lilia! Stop this! Something is up and you're just making it worse!" Cheval shouted at her.

The commander bit her lip for a second before heeding her friend's words. The group of Scriveners quickly backed off and allowed both you and your monstie to breath.

"Let's all calm down for a second, yeah?" Reverto said as Rathi and the Hellblade Glavenus, still growling, went back to their respective riders. Your breathing was still rapid, but you were able to look up at the group now that your monstie was back by your side.

Yet, your eyes were still full of fear.

"Listen, we don't mean you any harm. We just want to talk." Lilia said calmly and everyone offered a kind smile despite the fight that broke out earlier.

"You're okay. But please, come with us." Lilia tried again, and your eyes flickered towards Cheval, the only other rider that was with the group. He offered you a smile.

"You can trust her. We just want to keep everyone safe." He added, and you finally looked like you calmed down a bit. With shaky legs, you stood up using your monstie for support.

"Alright...I'll come..." You said, Cheval's words convincing you over anyone else's.

"Thank you." Lilia said softly and ordered everyone to head back to Lulucion. Reverto took the lead with the group following behind him along with Lilia. Cheval stayed back near you with Rathi ahead of him.

However, you were taking a slow pace with your monstie glued to your side. Anytime someone got close to you, your Hellblade monstie would growl. She was still extremely protective of you after the events that just occurred. But there were still questions that needed to be answered.

And Lilia hoped she would get answers in Lulucion.

Once they got to the Guild's place, you were still very on edge, holding your monstie close. Your Glavenus deviant was even more of edge, looking around at everyone and everything as well as tensing up and growling each time you flinched. But things seemed to calm down a bit when it was just you, Lilia, Reverto, and Cheval in a room.

"Do you think you can give us a bit of an explanation as to what happened back there?" Reverto cut to the chase before Lilia could even speak.

"I'm Y/N...and sorry, M/N is rather protective of me...She probably got overwhelmed and worried..." You said, placing a hand on the monstie's side, which caused her to ease up a bit and nuzzle you.

"But why? Was it because of Reverto?" Lilia asked in reference to the hunter. But you shook your head, looking down at your feet.

"It's not about hunters, it's just...we had a bad run-in with a nasty group of similar to you guys in the Guild. Things went south, M/N got hurt bad, and they nearly took me away from her...It's why I acted the way I did...I was just scared of the same thing happening again..." You said, starting to shake slightly as your Hellblade Glavenus nudged you.

"I'm sorry...I had no idea...I..." Lilia tried to apologize, but you just smiled a bit.

"You had no way of knowing. I should've just spoken up from the beginning." You told her, easing up a bit and realizing these people weren't like the malevolent ones you dealt with previously.

"And I'll keep M/N out of trouble. I'll teach her to ease up a bit so no one gets hurt." You said when you remembered that this whole thing started with a dangerous Hellblade Glavenus.

"I appreciate that." Lilia said with a grin.

"Would it be possible if I stayed here for a bit? M/N is a bit overwhelmed and needs some rest." You asked sheepishly, and Lilia immediately agreed. Reverto shot you a grin as he bid his farewells, and Cheval came over to put a hand on your shoulder.

Your monstie growled a bit, but there was no lashing out.

"I'll show you were M/N can rest for a bit." Cheval said before leading you to the stables, your monstie very close behind. You felt comfortable in the presence of another rider, and he was kind to you.

"See you later!" Lilia called as she sat back in her desk. All the events that occurred today played back in her head, but in the end, she was just glad that no monster had to be put down.

All's well that ends well.
