Ok, so long ago, I used a height difference generator for my Beyblade ships. And the heights are solely based on my headcanons.

Takao x Hiromi

Quite above average for Takao. He probably has a bit of height because of training and stuff, plus a bit of genetics. And Hiromi is also quite above average for a Japanese woman. Cute height difference for huggies and cuddles while standing.

Height difference = 22cm

Kai x Julia

As for Kai, I wanted to make him taller than Takao. The deuteragonists always exceed the protagonist's height. Julia has the perfect 'tall girl' height, since she is already tall enough in the series. She'll wear heels so that Kai can kiss on her lips smeared with Lipstick hehe.

Height difference = 18cm

Rei x Mao

The Chinese are shorties in general, but I'm not convinced to give Rei a short height. He is a good trainer and I headcanon his father having a great height. As for Mariah, I neither made her short nor tall, instead average. But their big height difference is so cute and hot! Rei can lift her up anytime.

Max x Emily

Americans are decently tall. But, I still wanted to give Maxie some extra height and Emily is average to above average (?). It's soothing for Max when Emily hugs him and lays her head on his neck.

Yuriy x Queen

It's self explanatory for both of them, I guess? Yuriy is Russian, and they have a great height. And I think Queen is quite tall as well. Huge height difference and it's quite hot. Queen will enjoy the height difference and the effort to kiss him.

Ozuma x Mariam

I know Ozuma is VERY short in the series, but I'm not convinced by that. I headcanon him having a huge height boost as he ages. As for Mariam, she is quite tall. They have a lesser height difference, but still decent. Easier to kiss.

Kane x Salima

My OTP, eeh! Kane is a Japanese Australian and Australians have a great height. I'd say the height thing runs in their family genes. And, I think the height for Salima is quite decent above average-ish. Cute height difference for her to cuddle on Kane's chest.

Michael x Mathilda

Michael is definitely tall in my opinion. He seemed quite tall in the series. Mathilda as a shortie is cute and sweet. But, she buys heels after heels to come a bit closer to his height. Her head directly goes on his chest during hugs which is cute. They'd prefer showing their love language when they are lying down together since it would be difficult for her.

He was sitting idly in the Dojo, looking at the falling Cherry blossom leaves with a smile when he heard the front door slam open and he blinked, sighing softly. Walking out, he greeted the Servants of his family and stepped into the main hall, immediately noticing the midnight blue haired boy. He turned around and gave a goofy grin to Him. 

"Oi Kane! What took you so long buddy? We have to go to the Hiwatari Palace for the Gathering, remember?" Takao exclaimed, his hands on his hips which also held his dual bladed Katana swords. 

"Takao, forgetting important meetings is your feat, not mine." Kane replied dryly. "But no wonder you remembered this. After all, Prince Kai is your own childhood buddy." Kane grinned and Takao laughed. "Yes he is! But let us go fast before Kai whoops our asses." Takao laughed. 

That's how after half an hour, Kane found himself standing at a stall looking at Takai who was ravaging the food brought from one of the stalls. "Takao, take it easy. You have to eat at the Palace as well." Max said, his one arm draping on Takao. 

Max was son of Lord Mizuhara, another of the Important Samurai Family head from the court alongside the main five Samurai Families. Lord Mizuhara had married a western Countess, Lady Judy. Other than him, the only non-Japanese were Crown Prince Rei, the Prince of China who was a great friend of Kai, Prince Yuriy of the Russian Empire alongside his friends Sergei, Bryan and Ivan and the Prince of Europe Robert.

“I know Max!” Takao slurped. “But it's way too tasty and invited me to have it!” Takao reasoned, making the two sweatdrop. Rei sighed. “Oh Takao, let’s go before Kai tears us in half.” He grabbed Takao by his forearm and dragged him towards the Palace.

“Rei, you know Takao doesn’t —” Kane was about to say when he bumped into someone, and heard jingles. Looking up, his eyes were met with the piercing dark black eyes of the girl. 

Her hairs were red, as red as the flame of scorching fire, adorned with a golden band embedded with jewels. Her face below her nose was covered with a dark veil, a pair of intricately designed flowy pants paired with a long skirt type shirt over which a heavy veil was draped. 

“I’m sorry..” Song.. her voice was like a song, a beautiful song. “It's fine…” He said in a daze, and the girl turned around moving her piercing eyes away from him and went, the chime of her anklets sounding like chirping of birds in his ears. He stayed struck at same spot, until Ray came towards him.

“Kane?” Ray shook him and he blinked rapidly, looking at Ray. “Yeah, Ray?” He asked in a daze and looked at Ray. “Let’s go, we are late.” Ray said and Kane nodded, following Ray. But before going, he turned back towards where he had seen the girl, and finally thought..

I hope you will like it dear. It was quiet long, but I lost my previous data and lost that one as well and I was genuinely so devastated.

Found beneath an ancient dump, the mummies shed light on ancient Egyptian mummification practices and the many lives of a necropolis.

At first glance, you may think you’re looking at a picture of living crocodiles moving stealthily through mud. But the animals above are mummies, possibly dead for more than 2,500 years and preserved in a ritual that likely honored Sobek, a fertility deity worshiped in ancient Egypt.

The mummies were among 10 adult crocodiles, likely from two different species, the remains of which were unearthed recently from a tomb at Qubbat al-Hawa on the west bank of the Nile River. The discovery was detailed in the journal PLoS ONE on Wednesday.

The crocodile has played an important role in Egyptian culture for thousands of years. In addition to being linked to a deity, it was a food source, and parts of the animal, like its fat, were used as medicine to treat body pains, stiffness and even balding.

Mummified animals, including ibises, cats and baboons, are relatively common finds in Egyptian tombs. Other mummified crocodile remains have been dug up, but most have been juveniles or hatchlings; additionally, the ones discovered in this new study were in great shape.

“Most of the time I’m dealing with fragments, with broken things,” said Bea De Cupere, an archaeozoologist at the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences and a co-author of the study. “To hear you have 10 crocodiles in a tomb. That’s special.”

Ancient Tomb: In Lima, home to more than 1,000 archaeological sites, the discovery of pre-Columbian graves is just the latest encounter with an omnipresent past.

She was called to the Qubbat al-Hawa site by a research team led by Alejandro Jiménez Serrano, an Egyptologist from the University of Jaén in Spain. In 2018, researchers uncovered seven small tombs under a Byzantine-era rubbish dump. In one of the tombs — sandwiched between the dump site and four human burials believed to be from around 2100 B.C. — were the mummified crocodiles.

Dr. De Cupere studies everything including bones, teeth and shells as well as coprolites, or fossilized feces, and animal prints. “You have archaeologists doing an excavation and, if they find animal remains that they think are worth looking at, that’s when we come into the picture,” Dr. De Cupere said.

Of the 10 mummified adult crocodile remains found, five were just heads and the other five were in varying states of completion, but one, at over seven feet long, was nearly complete. Often animal and human mummies are found wrapped in linen bandages secured by resin, which means scientists use techniques like CT scans or X-rays to see through the material. The Qubbat al-Hawa crocodiles contained no resin, and the only fragments of linen present had been all but entirely eaten by insects, allowing the researchers to study the mummies at the excavation site.

Based on skull shape and how the bony plates, or scutes, on the animals were arranged, the team hypothesized that the majority of crocodiles in the tomb appeared to be one species, Crocodylus suchus, while others were Crocodylus niloticus. Salima Ikram, an Egyptologist at the American University in Cairo who was not involved in the study, said that gathering this kind of information provided insight into ancient Egyptian understanding of the distinct behaviors of these two species and which the Egyptians would want to interact with, “because niloticus will eat you, whereas with suchus, you can conceivably swim in the same pool and live,” Dr. Ikram said.

A lack of resin also indicated that the crocodiles were probably mummified by being buried in the hot, sandy soil, where they dried out naturally before being entombed, which the researchers proposed happened before the Ptolemaic period, which lasted between 332 B.C. and 30 B.C.

“From the Ptolemaic period onward, they used huge quantities of resin,” Dr. De Cupere said.

The team hypothesized that the crocodile mummies were buried around the fifth century B.C., when animal mummification was increasingly popular in Egypt. But it will take radiocarbon dating to know for sure. The researchers hope that, in the near future, there will be a chance to perform such dating, as well as DNA analysis to verify the two species.

“The discovery of these mummies offers us new insights into ancient Egyptian religion and the treatment of these animals as an offering,” said Dr. Jiménez Serrano.

Dr. Ikram also views these discoveries as an important window into the relationship between people and the Qubbat al-Hawa necropolis, from the first burials over 4,000 years ago to the present day. “Within the community, how were these tombs viewed? What were their uses?” Dr. Ikram said. “You’re seeing how these tombs had after lives and lives.”

My Favourite Beyblade Ships

Here are some of my favourite hetero ships from Beyblade Original Series (including the manga version) :

Regina Hase x Yuriy Ivanov (I absolutely LOVE them.)

I was living a depressed life after the G-revolutions ended because I couldn’t find any girl to ship with Yuriy. But when Regina Haze made an appearance in the Beyblade Rising manga; I almost forgot to breathe. I swear, her character checked every single one of my criteria for Yuriy's female romantic interest (and the standard's pretty high!) : evil as hell, needs therapy (preferably due to family trauma), a fucking ninja strong enough to give him a competition jumping from roofs, attractive and smart at the same time). Their dynamic is so full of angst and Volkov’s daughter being Yuriy's soulmate just gives so much info to work with! Like, choose any kind of AU for Yuriy and Regina's bound to bump into him! I love her battle style (just like Yuriy in his Novae Rog mode) which renders the opponent helpless. Her blade is one of the first things I loved about her and then her battle outfit is breathtaking as well. Stan the queen, she even managed to beat Dragoon with those sharp fang-like edges of her bey! She is the kind of boss babe who makes Yuriy look calm and patient. I’ll ship these two in hell.

Max x Marium

Although Max initially hated her as he thought her to be a cheater who never plays fair. Mariam admits to have liked the innocence about Max and found him rather cute but didn’t actually show any feelings towards him until their final beybattle, which Mariam decides to play fair and they both develop a soft spot for each other and eventually earn each other’s respect. Although Max x Emily is also a great pair, I personally prefer Max x Mariam more. I feel their relationship is more intense but very unrealistic because Mariam and Max hardly ever saw each other after that beybattle, let alone have a conversation. Even in the manga version, they barely have any interation. But even after people being mean to this ship...it is still the one of the most adored in the series.

P.S. Okay, someone just told me that after Queen and King destroyed Mariam's Beyblade, Max smashed Queen's Beyblade in the next round. I feel a spark here! I truly love this ship without a doubt now.

Ray x Salima

Don’t hate me for this one but I think Salima and Ray had a lot more potential than Ray and Mariah because she was the first character Ray had any romantic feelings about (as Kai said, “He connected with Salima”). It is actually astonishing how in two or three meetings they had formed such a strong bond because of how similar their thoughts were! If only they had time to know each other more, they would have been one of the canon ships. Though Salima showed a lot of concern for Kane throughout the episodes but she did not admit having any romantic feelings about him.

Kai x Julia 

Although they never had any one-on-one conversation or a beybattle and practically are a “crack-ship”, Julia is the only female character throughout the series who literally could be Kai’s solemate. They both are badass, sassy, confidant, passionate, slightly arrogant, tough and mature. They both have had dysfunctional family dynamics which somehow made them independent leaders. I feel the ‘’know-it-all fire prince’’ will find a strong girl like her very appealing. I mean, they could relate to each other in every way. They just “fit” and complement each other in a way that is otherworldly. I think this ship deserves more fans.

Tyson X Hilary

The classic love-hate chemistry. Tyson did not show any type of feeling other than utter annoyance towards Hilary in the beginning, he secretly started liking Hilary slowly from V-Force to G-revolutions. (Many people missed this scene from V-Force: When Max suggested they played a word game in the cave so they don't get lost. It was Tyson's turn when he subconsciously said 'Hilary' then he said 'Oh sorry!...forgot has to start with a 'D'. It shows how her name was the first thing that came to his thoughts and how she was living in his mind rent-free!). Hilary had a soft spot for Tyson from the beginning. Hilary did have a crush on Kai [ I mean..who didn’t at some point?] but she was one of those few people who stood by Tyson through it all without “betraying”. And I feel she understands Tyson very well and she seems really happy whenever she's around Tyson. And I think Tyson likes Hilary too. When Master Tao asked Tyson if he liked Hilary...he blushed. This was probably in the Japanese version. The English dub just loves turning a blind eye to Tyson x Hilary and throwing Kai x Hilary crumb.(Jfc, quit acting like stupid high school teenagers!)

Special mentions :

Ray x Mariah

Ray and Mariah have a good potential. As long they had spent together from childhood, they understand each other very well. Mariah has always been head-over-heels for Ray in the anime. On the other hand, Ray always looked out for her as a friend. Although, it was pretty obvious that Mariah liked Ray a lot from the very beginning in the anime but Ray’s interest in Salima clearly states that, he only saw Mariah as a good friend. But even worse that is in the manga. Ray said he saw her as a “little sister” and on top of that, Mariah was okay with that but was angry about the fact that Ray wouldn’t consider her as his equal blader.They were both so dumb. (After reading that...I was like “What the fuck is wrong with you guys?!”). She stood by his side every single time and maybe that’s the reason why Ray got married to *spoilers ahead* Mariah eventually.

Max x Emily

This couple has gone unnoticed by many. The classic tsundere dynamic. Emily was hard on Max on their first meeting, she eventually developed a soft spot for Max. Max also supported her throughout and considered her a good friend. Emily was seen worried for Max when he went to battle Black Dranzer along with teammates in Russia (One of my favourite Max moments when he finally got to outshine his smartass teammates while almost beating Black Dranzer). In the G-Revolutions, Emily was one of the few people who really understood Max and on she also admitted to like boys who were as confidant as him. Not to mention, she supported him throughout every battle when they were in the same team. 

These are my personal preference and opinion. I’d love to hear what everyone has to say about beyblade ships in general.

Objective: Since there have been mild rumors and misinformation regarding the ethnicities of Beyblade characters spreading in and across the fandom, I wanted to bring up the right piece of information delivered to the fanbase.

◇ Kai Hiwatari: Japanese. -conflicting the rumors: Kai was never stated to be Russian by ethnicity. It might have been his hometown or nationality, but ethnically speaking, he is Japanese, evident from his parents' names (Susumu and Misaki) and surname (Hiwatari). Kai is a fire festival celebrated in Japan.

◇ Kane/Kein/Cain Yamashita: Japanese-Australian -conflicting the rumors: Some were presuming him to be an Australian alone, but the surname "Yamashita" is pretty famous in Japanese culture. Meanwhile, though the dub says the Psykicks come from Japan, Kane is stated by Aoki sensei to be half-Australian.

◇ Goki: Japanese Aoki mentions on his site.

In the dub, Kane says that Salima's hometown is in Canada, and in Aoki's site her name is taken from an African travel guide. Regardless, Aoki sensei says that no nationality has been set for her. Jim's name sounds European or American.

8] F-Dynasty

All the members are Spanish.

9] Barthez Battalion

The nationalities of this European are unclear much like Saint Shields is, but according to TV Tropes, these are their possible ethnicities.

◇ Miguel: German Named after an F-1 racer.

◇ Claude: Jamaican From his appearance.

◇ Aaron: French His name sounds more like French-speaking.

◇ Mathilda: English According to the Beyblade rising manga and her illustrations, she seems to be from the United Kingdom/England.

◇ Mystel: Indonesian This is there in Aoki's notes.

The nationalities of the other BEGA members are not mentioned, but Ming Ming is probably Chinese, Crusher might have African roots, Garland can be somewhere from South Asia, and Brooklyn has no hints.

As for characters like Zeo, Gordo, King, Queen, etc., nothing about their nationalities or their ethnicities has been stated or even scraped as hints. Hence, it's unknown about theirs. 

Characters like Kincaid, Mr. Dickenson, Taro Mizuhara, etc. are mostly Japanese.

Archaeologists Are Just Beginning to Unearth the Mummies and Secrets of Saqqara

A giant trove of ancient coffins and mummies has been discovered at the vast Egyptian burial site of Saqqara. After hinting at a big announcement for days, the Egyptian antiquities ministry revealed the details this morning: more than 100 intact wooden coffins with brightly painted scenes and hieroglyphs, and well-preserved mummies inside.

The announcement comes after a string of recent discoveries at Saqqara, including 59 intact coffins revealed in September and October. The newly announced coffins were found nearby, at the bottom of three 12-meter shafts revealed when archaeologists led by Mostafa Waziry, head of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities, were removing debris from the site. Other finds include funerary masks and more then 40 statues of the funerary deity Ptah-Sokar, all untouched for at least 2,000 years.

Speaking at a press conference at Saqqara with dozens of the coffins displayed on stage behind him, Egypt’s antiquities minister, Khaled el-Enany, praised the Egyptian archaeologists who excavated the finds, which mostly date from between the sixth and first centuries B.C. “They have been working day and night and I’m very proud of the result,” he said. Their story will be told in a Smithsonian Channel docuseries called Tomb Hunters, scheduled to air in 2021.

An incredible trove of archaeological artifacts has been unearthed once again at Saqqara – including 100 coffins, and incredibly rare statues dating back 4,500 years.

As the coronavirus pandemic devastates the tourism industry on which Egypt depends, the recent finds have been publicized in a series of increasingly dramatic events. At a previous press conference in October, Egyptian officials opened a coffin live on stage. This time they went one step further, not just opening a coffin but X-raying the mummy inside, revealing the individual to have been an adult male, perhaps in his 40s, whose brain was removed through his nose as part of the embalming process.

Egyptologists have welcomed the announcement. To find an unplundered necropolis from this period is “extremely significant”, says Salima Ikram, an archaeologist based at the American University in Cairo, who works at Saqqara. They note that although the latest find is larger, it doesn’t differ significantly from the previously announced finds. “This is very impressive, but it’s lots more of what we already have,” says Campbell Price, curator of Egypt and Sudan at the Manchester Museum in the United Kingdom. Nonetheless, researchers are excited about the possibilities for learning more about this ancient sacred landscape, and the people who were buried there.

Saqqara, located around 20 miles south of Cairo, is one of Egypt’s richest archaeological sites. Home to the 4,700-year-old Step Pyramid, Egypt’s oldest surviving pyramid that’s about 200 years older than the more-famous Pyramids at Giza, the site was used as a burial ground for more than 3,000 years. Like the previous 59 coffins, the newly announced finds mostly date from fairly late in ancient Egypt’s history, from the Late Period (664-332 B.C.) and the Ptolemaic period when Greeks ruled as Pharaohs (305-30 B.C.).

During this period, Saqqara was far more than a cemetery, says Price. It was a pilgrimage site, he says, like an ancient Mecca or Lourdes, that attracted people not just from Egypt but from all over the eastern Mediterranean. Buildings such as the Step Pyramid were already thousands of years old at this time; people believed they were burial places for gods, and wanted to be buried close by. “Saqqara would have been the place to be seen dead in,” says Price. “It had this numinous, divine energy that would help you to get into the afterlife.”

Geophysical surveys have revealed the remains of numerous temples buried under the sand. Archaeologists have also discovered millions of animal mummies, including dogs, cats and birds, believed to have been left as offerings. Recent finds of mummified cobras, crocodiles and dozens of cats, including two lion cubs, were reported in November 2019 and feature in a Netflix documentary, “Secrets of the Saqqara Tomb,” released this month. Meanwhile the discovery of an underground embalmers’ workshop, announced in April, suggests a thriving business in dealing with the dead, with coffins and masks to suit a range of budgets.

But the undertakers weren’t digging from scratch, says Aidan Dodson, an Egyptologist at the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom. They were reusing older, looted tombs, he says, “scouring Saqqara for locations” suitable for placing new coffins, even beneath the Step Pyramid itself. That makes the site a densely packed mix of finds that range thousands of years. “One would be hard pressed to dig and not find something,” says Ikram. The latest coffins come from an area north of the Step Pyramid, next to the bubasteon, a temple complex dedicated to the cat goddess Bastet, where older tombs were reused to hold hundreds of mummified cats.

Despite the press conferences and documentaries, none of the recent finds have been formally published, so Egyptologists can only glean information from the handful of images released to the press. “We hope the Ministry of Antiquities will make the archaeological data available,” says Price. Carefully studying the history and context of the burials as they were found could help researchers to understand how the bubasteon was used as a sacred site for both humans and animals, says Ikram. Meanwhile Price hopes for insights into how coffin design evolved over time, which is well understood for sites in the south of Egypt but less so in the north. And deciphering the hieroglyphs on the coffins would reveal information about the people inside, such as their name, role in society, from priest to treasurer, or home city.

The sheer number of finds now available also opens up fresh possibilities, such as constructing family trees of the people buried at the site. “We can get a sense of them as a community,” says Price. The results might even shed new light on unidentified artifacts excavated centuries ago. “Now we can see visual similarities between these new finds and unprovenanced items in European museums,” he says. Finding matches with orphaned coffins in Europe might enable researchers to link up long-separated family members.

El-Enany told the press conference that the mummies will now be distributed between several Egyptian institutions, including the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities and National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, both in Cairo, and the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza (scheduled to open next year). But they may soon need to find space for more, as he added that “the mission did not finish yet”. Within the last few days, he said, another hoard of mummies has just been found at Saqqara, to be announced in the next couple of months.
