How did I just learn about this album now through listening to Joachim Witt?!
Thx @neil-gaiman ❤️
Where's Neil When You Need Him? is a tribute album based on the works of fantasy writer Neil Gaiman.
The album was released on Dancing Ferret Discs on July 18, 2006. The CD has cover art by Dave McKean and extensive new liner notes from Neil Gaiman and Patrick Rodgers.
The album's title was taken from the song "Space Dog", by Tori Amos. Amos became a long-time friend and collaborator of Neil Gaiman after she made a reference to him in the 1991 song "Tear in Your Hand". (She had also made references to Gaiman and his work in her songs "Horses", "Hotel", "Carbon", "Not Dying Today", and "Sister Named Desire".) "Sister Named Desire" is the only work on this album that had previously appeared elsewhere. (The song was originally released as a B-side to Amos' track "Talula".) It was remastered specifically for this release at the same time that other Amos tracks were being cleaned up for her compilation Tales of a Librarian.
Track listing:
Rasputina - "Coraline" (Coraline)
ThouShaltNot - "When Everyone Forgets" (American Gods)
Tapping the Vein - "Trader Boy" (The Day I Swapped My Dad for Two Goldfish)
Lunascape - "Raven Star" (Stardust)

The Crüxshadows - "Wake the White Queen" (MirrorMask)
Ego Likeness - "You Better Leave the Stars Alone" (Stardust)

A DJ could blend the end of "Am I 2 Blame? (Soil & Eclipse Remix)" by Razed In Black seamlessly into the beginning of "The Sinner" by Death Loves Veronica. And it would be sexy.

season 3 Eleanor is genuinely so depressing like the way she's so quiet and demure compared to in the first two seasons, the way her outfits become more refined/restrictive, how she stands in the background as support, finally listened to but only in relation to the man who's actually in charge... she really is the embodiment of nassau under English rule, welcoming its new cage until it starts to chafe just one season later.

What are your thoughts on the critisism that Neomuna, and more specifically cloudstriders, feel "out of place", or the feeling some have that Lightfall has a whole has thematically defied their expecations in a bad way? (insert that comparison of the key art from the BL reveal vs the current key art here.)
Really hard to critique any aspect of it currently before we know more and play it.
A lot of stuff in Destiny can feel really odd and out of place without any context! I remember similar doubt and questions about Lucent Hive for example. For any serious critique, I'll have to see the expansion first, learn more about Neomuna and Cloud Striders and see if their story fits and has something valuable to add to the setting.
So far, I don't think they're out of place. The ECHO ships and surviving human colonies outside of Earth have been seeded almost 3 years ago and I've quite literally accurately predicted how that specific lore is tied to Neomuna. I think it's a pretty cool way to tie in an older open-ended storyline with something new that they need for an expansion.
A story about "survivors of the Collapse" is pretty much a given, as that's something that we've always wondered about in the setting. Could some humans have escaped? Could they have survived? What would've happened if they did and how would've they developed if the Collapse hadn't stopped us? Going there and examining that story can give us valuable information about our past (Golden Age and speculation on what we could've achieved if it continued) and our fall (the Collapse, how it happened, what exactly happened, how to prevent it a second time). On top of that, it's giving us super cool scifi concepts about neo-human civilisations and advanced development through nanotechnology.
And yeah, the original key art was really striking; no colours, grim, very evocative with imagery of a Pyramid eclipsing the Traveler. It was of course simply just a base for the expansion. It was a placeholder. I've seen a lot of people saying that Bungie "robbed" us of something; they did not. They cannot rob us of something that never existed. Concept art is a really long process with millions of ideas being thrown around, especially placeholder concept art.
For what it's worth, from what we know about Lightfall, the base idea for the expansion is still the same. We are very much in deep trouble, especially if we're correct in our predictions that the Traveler is about to run and if the trailer's footage of a massive battle in Earth's orbit is anything to go by. Neomuna itself is under massive siege by a new disciple and the Witness itself. There are new enemies and enemy threats that we haven't seen for a long time acting up again (the Vex).
Is the expansion much more colourful in comparison with a black and white placeholder image? Yeah. But that doesn't remove the danger the system is in. I'm not sure what people expected. Destiny is not a super edgy setting of only doom and gloom. It certainly has a basis of incredibly terrible stuff going on, but it never presents it without a balance. Even in the Red War and Forsaken, things were still colourful and beautiful and had a lot of different vibes packed together.
To me, a massive fleet of Pyramid ships descending on colourful Neomuna is an incredibly powerful image with a really visceral theme of how nobody can successfully escape the Darkness forever. You can buy yourself time, but ultimately it will find you. I think that's a pretty doom and gloom theme. I feel like the only reason people aren't seeing it is because the original was black and white, while the current is colourful.
My only proper concern is that they're introducing a whole new aspect to the setting this late. Introducing it itself is not the issue as much as that we're 2 expansions (including Lightfall) until the end. There's still a lot of stuff to go through and solve and deal with so I'm not sure how wise it is to introduce a whole new set of characters and a setting of this scale. Of course, as with the rest of the question, we can't really fully make a judgement on that before we play.

I don't know where this idea came from but I feel like so much could happen from this situation. (Could not for the life of me pick a fandom tho) But I just thought what if MHA or the HQ boys decided that they wanted to join the table at the family gatherings playing cards or dominos. Like they're used to watching their s/o from afar and know they wanna be part of the action. Your choice on the fandom because I can't decide. It's going to be interesting either way. 😂

Pairing: Phoenix, Neon, Raze, Jett x Black!GN!Reader
Genre: Headcanons
Synopsis: What happens when your Valorant S/O wants in on the card game action?
Warnings: mild cursing
A/N: While I could not think of anything for HQ or MHA…Valorant came to mind and boy oh boy did the ideas start spilling!
Tumblr media
Phoenix
Phoenix is always down for a challenge, no matter the shape or form. Except chess, as we see he kind of avoids Cypher’s chess games. So when it comes to his knowledge that you’re a self proclaimed expert in card games, he of course wants to see if its true.
Despite being beat in round after round, game after game, Phoenix insists that he’s close to beating you. He is a somewhat observant fellow, so with each game, you become more and more serious, keeping the Fire Radiant Agent on his toes.
He does get very close to beating you, but you manage to shut it down real quick. He’s now constantly following you around base asking for another round, to prove his King status. But beware, he could be watching you play with others to take note on your tactics…
Tumblr media
Neon
Neon actually introduces you to a card game first, one she learned on the streets of the Philippines when she was younger. She’s a master at it, and takes pride in the fact that she beats you the first few rounds as she’s teaching you how to play.
However, when she notices that you are gradually getting better, it gets harder and harder to tease you as she tries to keep up. And then you beat her at her own game, and a pout makes its way on her lips, because how were you able to do that so fast?
You give her a kiss on the corner of her lips, remarking about how you’re just that good, but she’s not having any of it. She won’t follow you around base like Phoenix, but any opportunity she gets, she’s gonna ask you to teach her a card game you know, because it’s only fair and square that she beat you in one of your own games.
Tumblr media
Raze
Raze is an expert card player herself, so when she meets someone who poses a challenge, she’s all for it. She may be a firecracker, but she’s also got an observant eye on her as well.
This makes your matches all the more intense. Raze, who is normally chill and laid back and ready to pounce, becomes quiet and analytical, choosing her moves carefully.
Most of your matches end in ties, because both of you are just that good, and acknowledge that both of you are really good card game players. Your matches gain so much popularity around base, even Brimstone comes to watch you two play amongst the other agents.
Tumblr media
Jett
You’re actually playing a card game with Cypher, one that you grew up playing, and Jett is sitting in and watching. She’s mesmerized by how seamlessly you two play and eventually, once you and Cypher are done, asks you to teach her a couple of moves.
Jett’s a bit dumbfounded by how to play at first, muttering curses in Korean under her breath while she’s trying to get the hang of things. It’s cute, with her cheeks all puffed out and her eyebrows furrowed in concentration.
You give it to her, she has you in a corner a couple of times, but you still beat her, and while she sighs in frustration, you tell her that she just has to keep practicing. To which she takes that as a challenge, determined to take you down a peg.
