I promised a trip to Emerald City Comic Con 2025, and boy did I live it up in Seattle!!

Figured it would only be right to share a couple of con pics for the fellas and not-so-fellas living vicariously. So be prepared to hit that Read More and live vicariously through me and my nicest Thursday threads:

I've been to San Diego Comic Con once or twice, and a few scattered conventions beyond that — namely Anime Expo. Even so, I was caught completely off-guard by how huge ECCC was. Checking in happened at the main Arch building of the Seattle Convention Center, which had a couple of vendors but was primarily celebrity autograph booths.

The real party happened in the Summit building a few blocks out, wherein two entire convention floors were filled end-to-end with artist alleys and merch vendors and sponsor tables and much more.

As you might imagine... I spent way too much money on stuff.

But in my defense?

A lot of the stuff I bought are gifts for my friends and family. So it's worth every penny.

... And the stuff I didn't buy for my friends was also worth every penny. For example, this very fun Kingdom Hearts print that I'm going to put up alongside my Halloween Town Sora figure as part of my brand-new apartment™

And, of course. It wouldn't be a fandom-centric convention without the goofiest horny stalls you've ever seen in your life. Here were some of my faves:

It also wouldn't be a fandom-centric convention without some really good cosplay! I saw way more than just the characters pictured below, from a full suit of Spartan power armor to Luz and Amity holding hands out in a distant crowd, and even multiple younger kids dressed as Pomni from Digital Circus.

I did not, unfortunately, pick up the names of anyone. Not the most professional way to do things I know, but I wasn't thinking about it beyond "let me snap a quick pic for my friends" at the time.

You'll have to forgive me and merely enjoy the craftsmanship on display, just this once.

Bonus: A couple of RC characters were also roaming the floor, both an expected Star Wars droid and a much less expected Rosie from The Jetsons.

Found the time to hit a couple of panels too, though the ones that interested me were more professional-oriented. One covered works of storytelling in YA graphic novels (put on Mad Cave Studios' Maverick publishing arm, which has some works like "Scoop" that I'm pretty interested in reading now). The other was about self-publishing works of fiction, and tools available to modern-day writers that are a boon in that field.

No mystery as to what I've been thinking about lately, I suppose!

However, one aspect of the trip I'm most excited about — and, in fact, the reason I went to ECCC in the first place — was getting the opportunity to meet @phantom-nisnow [main website here] and see a special sneak peak at the proof print for @fairystorieszine <.<

I can tell you guys that we've got a real good one coming together.

I’m really excited for the RC Fix It Week and I can’t wait to see everyone’s creations, but it does feel like the prompts are skewed a bit toward writers & artists - I don’t mean this in a critical way at all, more frustrated with myself because I’m really struggling to figure out how to interpret the prompts for edits/manips since all the scenes I have of Jyn and Cassian are obviously not after Scarif 😭 I think you may have answered something similar before, but would you be able to provide any more suggestions/guidelines? If not, no worries, I will continue to think about it! And I really hope this doesn’t come off as critical or ungrateful because that is not at all my intention! Thank you for all your hard work ❤️❤️❤️

yes, I totally forgot to talk about this in the original version of the post, which was definitely an oversight on my part, but I've made an amendment since, just in case you haven't seen: "since the post-Scarif requirement is hard to enforce for things like gifsets, the rules are a little laxer in that case. just try to go for some feel-good vibes, and avoid the heartbreak!"

so don't worry about the scenes not being post-Scarif if you're making an edit, it's totally fine! for example, you could use scenes of the movie to make an edit with one of the song lyrics perhaps. or you could collect some clips of Diego and Felicity from different projects and put them together, using that as a pseudo "post-Scarif" footage. or maybe check out some of the BTS footage which is another great source because they're actually in costume. but again, using movie scenes is just as okay - I'd just avoid making anything too sad since the focus is fix-it.

as for the prompts, the scenarios would probably be a little hard to use (though I could see a potential moodboard for "how they live after the war" perhaps? maybe even for "how they fare on Hoth") but you could use lyrics from the songs, or even some of the one word prompts as inspiration (eg.: you could do a lot with "mirror", or maybe look for a quote/poem/lyric about "growth" for example and make something based on that) don't stress about it too much, loose interpretations of the prompts are totally fine! (some of my own stuff will be loose interpretations)

Rollout Ceremony for the third operational orbiter, Discovery (OV-103) at Palmdale, California. On the stage is the Don Beall of Rockwell (at lectern), Dr. Rocco A. Petrone, the president of the company and the crew of her first first flight STS-41-D.

She is named for several different ships:

"The name Discovery was chosen to carry on a tradition based on ships of exploration, primarily HMS Discovery, one of the ships commanded by Captain James Cook during his third and final major voyage from 1776 to 1779, and Henry Hudson's Discovery, which was used in 1610–1611 to explore Hudson Bay and search for a Northwest Passage. Other ships bearing the name have included HMS Discovery of the 1875–1876 British Arctic Expedition to the North Pole, and RRS Discovery, which carried the 1901–1904 Discovery Expedition to Antarctica, led by Captain Scott."

At the beginning of her career, Discovery weighed roughly 3,600 kg (7,900 lb) less than Columbia due to lessons learned during the construction and testing of Enterprise, Columbia and Challenger. She weighs 6 pounds (2.7 kg) heavier than Atlantis and 363 pounds (165 kg) heavier than Endeavour. Part of this was due to the greater use of quilted AFRSI blankets rather than the white LRSI tiles on the fuselage, and the use of graphite epoxy instead of aluminum for the payload bay doors and some of the wing spars and beams.

This costume portrayed by Shynel Brizan is in salutation and honor to Queen Adelaide Dison aka Buzotte who was a freed slave on the Shand plantation in Diego Martin....

A lot of freed slaves including my paternal 3rd great Grand Mother settled in St Mary's Village Diego Martin, known today as Covigne Road. Predominantly the Yoruba and Congo people settled in Covigne Road. There is a community named Congo Village that still exists today, even a cemetery where one side is for the burial of the Congo people and the other for the Yorubas. As the dismissal bell rang " bussing" through that cemetery after school was a normal short cut for me since I attended the Diego Martin Girls RC School, which bounds with the cemetery. A wall is now in place stopping all would be offenders..lol. I was told Ade Jeri , the name my 3rd great Grand Mother went by ( I'm still researching to get records of her full name ), always used to warn her relatives " Doh bury meh on dem people side, bury me in the Yoruba part.... I is Yoruba "

Maybe now you can understand my name " Ajetunmobi " and why I am proudly the way I am. It's in my DNA....

Queen Adelaide ( not sure if she was Yoruba or Congo ) was Queen of the Macaque Regiment ( freed Africans would form regiments which served the community in different ways e.g help families build homes etc). Historians believed that the Haitian revolution which took place in 1791 agitated and inspired other revolts throughout the Caribbean; however the planned retaliation of 1805 by the Africans in Trinidad against their slave masters never actualized. Adelaide along with others were found guilty of a conspiracy to revolt against the slave masters/plantation owners., Her punishment was working in chains for life with a 10lb iron ring affixed to one of her legs.This information is documented in the history books as the 1805 Christmas Revolt
