I almost forgot that I meant to upload the rookanis final battle conversation as another follow up to Lucanis interrupting Rook saying "I love you," because this great post made me realize that he interrupts Rook a second time, right before the final battle, so he can say "I love you" himself first and not miss his chance this time... and perhaps to also take the bullet for Rook if he truly believes that settling your affairs before the job is done is bad luck

well first of all technology sounds like fucking magic if you don't know the science of how it works so jot that down -- my phone sends an invisible signal to my computer to connect to a vast unseen information network and play me music by reading 1s and 0s, that's pretty magical

but also they've always had it and there's been shit about it scattered all around the elven ruins in every game, especially the dalish bits in origins and the temple of mythal in dai

BUT ALSO because that's how bellara approaches it and we're getting things through her lens. like you don't hear emmrich talking about lyrium matrices or whatever even though it's quite likely the necropolis has similar shit going on somewhere, because that's not his view of magic. bellara is intended to be a kind of eccentric scientist archetype which is fun as that's not really a kind of character we've seen as a companion in dragon age before. but I guess it only makes sense that people who say "well solas acts like mythal is a good person so that means bioware thinks she is, because characters never have warped or biased perspectives" wouldn't understand the idea of character voice or how different people would explain the same problem in different ways

Lucanis and Davrin are already on bad terms with each other for like half the game, but can you imagine what would have happened if they had found out that the reason why Isseya was able to put the griffons through the Joining, leadng to them being nigh wiped out, is because an Antivan Crow, Calien d'Evaliste, taught Isseya blood magic during the Fourth Blight 😬
