✨ What are your plans for the weekend? . . 🫖 I had a really nice and slow Friday with some grocery shopping, taking pictures and reading. Tomorrow I’m going to bake a Pina Colada cake (or at least try) for a birthday on Sunday, so wish me luck! And of course I’m listening to Fearless (Taylor’s version) on repeat 😄🤷🏼‍♀️ . We read ‘Das Parfüm’ (The Perfume) in school and it really gave me the creeps. It’s about a man (or rather a murderer) who kills women and makes perfume out of them. Why though? . . ✨ What do you do in your free time besides reading? . . 🫖 For me it’s dancing! As I stated in an earlier post I started taking ballet lessons when I was 7 and later added modern dance. I love this feeling when you’re in a flow, nothing but the music fills your head and there are no thoughts anymore because your body takes over. . Last year I read “The Dancer” by Colum McCann. The book is about the famous dancer Nurejew but it’s not a biography, it’s written like a novel based on facts so we get a glimpse into Nurejew’s life, the political difficulties of being a dancer from the Soviet-union and the people who got to know Nurejew. . . ✨Can you recommend any fantasy books? . . 🫖 It’s review time again! I finished The Kingdom of Copper and liked it even more than the first book in this series! After I finished the first, I wasn’t quite sure whether I want to go on. Don’t get me wrong, the story is very good, the writing too but it somehow was hard for me to be invested because of the complicated backstory and events in the past that all had consequences for the present. BUT: The second book didn’t drag a bit! Maybe it was because I already had background information, but I flew through the 600 pages. The characters were very relatable; even if you didn’t like them sometimes you could understand their behaviour. The story changed between three different point of views so the reader has a good overview over what is going on everywhere. The plot was so exciting in the end, I couldn’t put the book down and was really surprised at some twists. I can’t wait to read the last book! . Having said this I now need a new fantasy book/series to dive into so feel free to recommend some! . . ✨ What is your favourite place to read? . . 🫖 I usually love reading on the couch in our living room because it big and soft but sometimes (especially when it’s cold outside) I love to curl up in my bed with a heavy blanket and all the pillows! Now that the weather is getting warmer again, I like sitting in the sun on the balcony while reading. When I can afford a bigger apartment I’d love to have a reading corner with a big wing chair and a cozy lamp! . . ✨ Hello Bookies - Have you read anything by Markus Zusak? . . 🫖 I’ve read a few books by this author but nothing made me feel like “The Book Thief”. This book was beautiful, caught my heart and left me crying and I would do it all again. It’s about a little girl in Nazi Germany during the war, who comes to a foster family. She tries to make the best of the situation with her love for books and words. When her foster family hides a Jew in their basement things are getting even more difficult. I would recommend this book to everyone! I still have to point out that it’s about Holocaust and World War II, so pay attention to trigger warnings. The story is beautifully written, its characters are very realistic and it sometimes even made me laugh. ✨ Do you keep a journal? Or even a writing journal? . . 🫖 When I was younger, I used to keep a journal but then I let it slip and ended up writing into it only once a year. I haven’t picked it up since but I found a mix between a journal and a personal calendar where I can keep track of my appointments but also do some mindfulness exercises and reflect on my feelings and my behaviour. Regarding my books, I only keep track of them (tbr, reads, wish list) on Goodreads not in a physical journal. . . ✨ Hello Bookies! - Do you plan on reading ACOSF/ Have you read it? What are your thoughts? Please try to avoid spoilers in the comments 🤫 . . 🫖 SPOILER FREE: I loved this book! I devoured it in two days and that means something because it has 750 pages and I read it in English 😄 I heard from many of you that you enjoyed it, too but many people also didn’t like it. So I have to say: It’s not the “usual” action packed plot driven story we might expect by an ACOTAR novel BUT it’s nevertheless beautifully written as always and moved me deeply. It’s Nesta’s journey. It’s about dealing with guilt, anger, PTSD and about accepting your thoughts and feelings even if you can’t change them at the moment. It’s about friendship, overcoming your past terrors and accepting that you are enough and you are worth being loved, especially and most importantly by yourself! . I won’t say anything else regarding the story but I’m sure that those who missed a little more plot will be more content in the next book as the beginning of another threat started to rise in this one. Of course this book contains a lot of sexy time and when I say this I mean: smut. It’s a little different from the one we got before but all in all still fitting in my opinion! I feel like I have to mention that this is not YA anymore, this is definitely adult! . Sarah J. Maas did a great job again and I could see how much Nesta’s story meant to her while reading this book. . .
