Hello friends and happy Wednesday! And yayyyy for a couple days off for me!! I have been really lucky to have met a ton of authors and have had some great moments with some but one of my favorites was meeting @sachakrabooks at bookcon in NY one year. She had just released City of Brass the previous year and I absolutely loved it so we were chatting and she asked who my favorite character was. Of course I answered with Dava and I just remember her being super perplexed and stating huh everyone keeps saying that and same with my editor guess I gotta try harder. I was like oh no what have we done…lol I’m still too scared to read book 3 🤣! Now, Daevabad is entrenched in the dark aftermath of the battle that saw Dara slain at Prince Ali’s hand, and Nahri must forge a new path for herself, without the protection of the guardian who stole her heart or the counsel of the prince she considered a friend. I loved this book too and it made me love S. A. Chakraborty's writing even more. This sequel has even more intricate magic and political intrigue than The City of Brass. Nahri has become one of my favourite female characters. She is strong and determined and all in all she is a badass woman. Of course I still liked Dara and I devoured his chapters. Ali has also matured during this time and he is still dedicated to his beliefs but not a fanatic anymore. I really liked the friendship dynamics between him and Nahri. Besides the characters, the plot was also very exciting and intense with a shocking ending. City of Brass were set in Cairo, Egypt.

Nahri. She is a con artist and a thief. To be specific she's a con healer who reputedly can 'feel' spirit and heal people who is sicks/possessed to make money to survive. And somehow she did know some sort of unfamiliar languages that never been heard by the local. One night when she's in a middle of ritual to heal her client, she accidentally summons a djinn into the human worlds...and it cause her life miserable. From that moment she's knows she'd mess up.

Later on, we will follow the journey/adventure of Nahri and the djinn to get into Daevabad, the djinn world. Quite witty and squishy journey they have and you will find the djinn is a hottie!(lol, forgive me)

What i like about this book:-

- Of course, the djinn named Dara or Daravayoush Afshin is astonished me. Well...

-Nahri she's smart. Like super smart in surviving. Quite brave and bossy. An intellectual con artist and thief. Well she have the audacity to steal from a magic djinn 😆

-Politics issues in Daevabad is quite intriguing for me. Like those dirty politicians who always think they are in good side. Manipulating the truth yet torturing the shafit.

-Oh I REALLY LOVE THE CLASSIC VIBES! It really reminds me of an instrumental song that really suit to the WHOLE BOOK! From the ziggurat to the palace to the Citadel, the riot like ALL.

The Kingdom of Copper is the aftermath of conflicts that take place in the first book. It took place 5 years, after the 'annihilation' of a Daeva.

But this time more politics. More chaos. Vengeance.

What i like about this book is:

-We can see how Nahri growth, from a con healer become a competent healer. Her determination and compassion to heal makes she decides to build a hospital where innocent daevas and shafits can be cure and feel safe.

-Ali's magic! Its amazing. And i hope i can know more about it in the third book because there's not really much info in this book. Maybe the magic is a new discovery for the Geziri's generation itself atm.

-The moment Ali get a damn hurt unnecessary slap from Issa get me by surprised. I've had a long gasp and had to take a few minutes before continuing.

-Dara is in a state between the hammer and the anvil. He wants to settle down differently, but he just can't. Yet people always sees him as the scourge.

Conclusion: There are a lot of things will happen and it's all dramatic. City of Brass is only few sips of your evening tea. But man, the sequel have more tea to spill baby! I really love how Chakaraborty blend those elements together into my imagination albeit i never encounter any of that in my life! Intriguing.

And currently, i'm waiting for my The Empire of Gold book to arrive. The finisher. Whenever the book coming, i'll take my sweet times to read. I don't want to end the daevabad world :(

QOTD: what are you currently reading? • Hey guys! My summer class is over, so I have a week to relax before the fall semester starts.
